See, this is what happens when you don't log in for a couple weeks...the power ciompany cuts you off.

I'll try to remember to log someone on to fix it.

  3. Yes it helps, but you'll only notice it when you first change. I remember zoning times taking half as long or less. You are still limited by network throughput though, so a slow connection will slow things.

For the past 3 months, I've been using an OCZ Vertex on one computer and a ramdrive on the other to host the game files. Both are noticably faster than using the hard drive. Bad news: you forget how slow it was and soon wonder what's taking so long.

The vertex is a medium speed drive: there are faster out there and there are slower. Compared to the WD caviar black I use as a main drive the vertex is approx 40-50% faster on most categories (read and write, buffered read and write, random access, etc)

When comparing between the ram drive and the vertex, the extra 4 gig of ram for a ram drive is faster for approx the same cost as a smaller ssd, but requires more setup. You decide if you're willing to do the work, or find a ramdisk program that will auto mount and save image files so that any changes are saved and loaded on bootup/shutdown. I do it manually. It takes around 55 seconds to copy the 3 gig of CoH game files from the hard drive to the ram drive. You must do this before you run the game after each boot. No big deal IMO, Imagine you're spending a little time now to save time while you are playing when you really want it. I think it's worth it, YMMV.

Many ramdrive programs can map memory the OS doesn't see. This means that you can put 8 gig into an XP32 system and still use that extra 4 gig as a ram drive.

  4. I'm hoping the treats are large inspirations again like they did a few years ago, not the smalls like last year. We filled 5 or 6 bins with larges, it was great.

  5. After tonights run I plan to kill hellfrosts with a 50 for Coldhearted on a couple characters. Anyone who's interested can join. Room on the team for 5 more. You can either stand around and get credit, or go after the ones in Villa Req.

  6. I have the Paragon of Vice mission. I got lucky and it was the third one given (first was BB liaison, second was destroy altar)

So, *cheer* we can haz badge

How do you plan to handle the contacts who give missions out of order? Will we try to get everyone to the arc before we start or are we running yours no matter what?

Depending on the answer I'll either try to get o first mission of arcs before tuesdays, or keep my mission drop available.

Lastly, any plans for double xp weekend? I'm not available saturdays until really late, but can be there any of the other days.

Or as many of as possible, at least.
He always gives his missions in order: Vahzilok arc then the Spetznaz arc (or however it's spelled). He has no side missions. If you're wanting to do both arcs we're going to have to lower the difficulty because he will not start an arc once you reach 15 and the missions from the first arc will easily get most of us to 15 (the level 8, probably not). I'd recommend lowering difficulty anyway because Vahzilok are over powered and we'd team wipe a lot.

Maybe I'm confused and remembering wrong (I have a lot of characters and they blur together), but how do you expect to get Krylov anyway? As I recall we did the paper missions in Port Oakes, so we'll get the Radio. When I checked the character last night, Port Oakes was full, Cap was empty.

As for the mayhem, I brought this up last time and was ignored...but STICK TOGETHER. It is absolutely stupid to run in several directions and spawn extra ambushes. This just leads to team wipes which leads to failing the mission. If you fly or superjump stay very low (like 15 feet) else you spawn a LongBow Eagle Death Squad or LongBow Nullifier Death Squad. Again, team wipe and failure.

  8. Hey Blood, could you change the base settings so coalition members can enter?

  10. Still borked...

I got the last badges for Demonic on 2 characters last night (Sep 23) and neither received Demonic. I will try getting Gangbuster and bad Luck badges tonight on both. Hopefully that works.

It'll be fixed around the time Claws gets ported to Tankers or Stone Armor is given to Scrappers...

and I can be there on Tuesday.

  12. Sweet, was hoping you'd say that. I'll go ahead and create the rad/kin tonight and level it up to 38 or 39. Then when I16 hits I'll play the archery/rad until the brute hits 38.

    G-
  13. Should we consider this a group of players rather than a group of characters? So people can change characters if needed around the same level?

Built an archery/kin and then a rad/kin. Thinking I like the rad kin better.

    G-
  14. I could do kin rather than rad. Rad gets it's best stuff early/mid; kin gets it mid/late. So the big question is whether the group will last until level 38 and the brute gets Granite and the kin gets Fulcrum Shift. Sorry to be a downer but these groups seem to die by mid 30s as schedules change or people decide they don't like the character as much as they hoped.

Or I can level up a kin separately and switch once we reach 38.

I'll redo the build and see which way I'd rather go but I think the switching off would be the best idea.

  16. I'll probably do an Archery/Rad corr but will make my final decision based on what else is on the team. 2 Archery corrs wouldn't be bad once we get Rain of Arrows, and everyone loves /Rad

I'd also suggest that you post which starting contact to take.

    woohoo, let's kill stuff

  18. This may have been brought up before, sorry if it's a recent repeat...

In the past three years I have received exactly 1 in-game mail that was not real money transaction spam. If I could remove/toggle off/whatever the email function on my game account I could avoid dealing with the 50 emails from 'empty' every day.

Alternatively, a toggle to only allow mail from friends (server or global) would also be fine.

I realize I could just ignore it, but it's a red spot in my view and draws attention. I can just continue to delete them, but I'm here to play. Why should I need to do work because spammers are still in the game? They put a toggle in to not hear the enemy faction while in PVP, why not a toggle to ignore the spammers?

You could also limit the number of emails allowed to be sent from a trial account (to 1).

  20. I went the other way. i looked at the achtypes and thought of a character to fit. Decided which powersets made sense for each concept, made some builds and decided which 2 I'd prefer to play. From there I looked at what other people were wanting to play and made my final decision.

Then decided it didn't matter and I'd shoehorn at least one of the characters into any of the slots.

..and by "shoehorn" I mean ram down your throat

  21. I'll pair with you then Spectre and we'll just not do it.

After using leveling pacts on a couple characters I've no interest in using them again, ever. We had 2 people pacted together in the same mission and the system still couldn't keep us in sync except on mission exit. It really annoyed me that I would only get ding buff at the time I could not use it. When both characters are not on it's like an anchor dragging the character down while the other team members level.

The only time I've found the pact useful was using a high level to power level 2 characters at once past the "holy crap this sucks" levels (aka 3-20)

IMO the best way for us all to stay at the same level is for everyone to commit to the team and show up each week.
