  1. I was solo and didn't even think about opening the team box. Thanks!
  2. I'm testing one of my arcs this morning (actually playing it, not using the test function) and when I got to the 3rd mission I discovered a massive bug.

I try to quit and I get a Finish button but not the Quit button. Pressing the Finish button doesn't kick me out of the arc.

Sort of strange. Anyone else seen this before? Any idea how I can extract myself without playing through the rest of the arc?

BTW - I HATE the front/middle/back spawn system. grrr... bosses in the front hall of the first floor, ambushes springing up inside the party instead of out of sight, things set to back in the front, things set to front in the back... I want the ability to set specific mission goals to sepcific spawn points!
  3. A respec recipe dropped on me while fighting level 49 nemesis troopers in a normal mission.
  4. It would be in the unlockable custom maps if it was anywhere but I haven't seen it either.
  5. Thanks Zombie, a very logical explanation.

There was a purple-con COT mage that seemed to have kinetic powers standing next to one of the fire base's big guns and he spanked us for interrupting his contemplations. We finally had to send in the stalker to get the gun without disturbing him.
  6. Why do you suppose you can encounter pve enemies that con purple in Bloody Bay? If you know everyone there is 25th level why not limit foes to that approximate range? I would think everything there should con blue-orange... maybe a red boss.

Or are the threat-level colors based on something besides your sk/exemp'd level in BB?
  7. I would like that suggestion to be implemented for Trial accounts.

Vendetti has you kill a man. Then blames the Council for that death in order to recruit said man's super-powered daughter. I found that to be much worse that anything Bocor asked me to do

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, I had to stop playing villain side for a few weeks after that.

And I thought it was Ashley McNight at 30th that allowed villains access to Cimerora, not Darren Wade. Darren is certainly a contact the OP will want to avoid given his motivations. I'll be avoiding him from now on if only because he made me feel like a patsy. I like to at least pretend my villains are smarter than that.
  9. I think that must be it. I found out my wife does the exact same thing and it certainly explains the lack of tickets I got after my SG ran the first arc and yet I still had the ratings to support it.

My wife claims it is the "obvious" way to vote and I guess she must be right and lots of people do it that way. It still boggles my mind because the "obvious" way to vote for me is to click the one you want.

Actually that isn't right... the programmer in me says it doesn't matter how they use the interface, it's the number of stars highlighted when they press the Finish button that should count with zero stars = no vote. Anything else seems a bit sloppy.

I may publish a junk arc just to test it.
  10. I think I already know the answer to this but do we know for sure how the rating screen works?

Click the appropriate star leftmost = 1 and rightmost = 5.

or Click each star in order

I'm sure it is the first option but I want to make sure I'm doing it right. I ran my mission tonight with the person I specifically wrote it for. I got the notice that someone voted but no tickets. When I asked she said she had voted 5 and had the "You have voted" message 5 times to prove it.

So what happens when she does that? Is it a 5 or is it a 1?

    4 Star Blues

I know 4 stars is a good rating. That's why I said I felt silly saying it.

I am glad that at least a few people had similar emotions. Despite my best attempts, I can't always control how I feel.
  12. I still think CS could just create a character on each server and have them stand around someplace for a few weeks. When the spam starts hitting them they can then go ban each account. I mean, it isn't like it's impossible for someone to tell it is an RMT e-mail.

Hire a couple of responsible teenagers (is that an oxy-moron?) to review the tons of emails the accounts would generate. Seems simple and effective to me and until they get serious about enforcing the rule it'll always be a problem in some way shape or form no matter what they do to e-mail.

Until they do get serious about it then we all might as well get used to the idea of spam. What I'm afraid of in an e-mail "fix" is that I'll start getting a ton of global offline RMT ad tells.

I suppose an unlimited, locally-stored, e-mail-only ignore list would probably be the least intrusive and least likely to force spam to another avenue, but I'm not sure it would help much.
  13. I'm glad someone knew what he was talking about. I had no clue
  14. I was surprised by my second arc in a similar situation too. It was a villain arc as well. Maybe that's the difference.

    4 Star Blues

My point was how surprised I was at the emotions I felt between publishing and when it did the inevitable crash into 4-star land. I wasn't expecting to care as much as I did.

And that's even though I never created either arc with the intention of having anyone but my SG play them with me.

I know you weren't responding to me but thought I would answer anyway. I haven't advertised really (besides a little blurb in the Justice forums thread) but that's because I always meant them as private arcs. I'll probably do more, for my second one at least, after the SG runs it and I see it perform under more stressful situations than I can do alone.

Alot of this floats around easy 5 star ratings.

Any player rated system like this is doomed to fail because of the different standards the judges have. The auto-5's vs those that actually take notes and write nice long messages afterwards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have to agree I'm afraid. The really hard part for me is the "challenging" part (both of mine are serious). One person's challenging is another person's killer. I tend to err on the side of caution so I'm sure some of my lower scores are due to that. But when I get tells like "low levels can run if cautious" and "EB was tough but we won!" within an hour of each other, I feel like I probably hit the nail right on that.

And like I said, I value the 4* votes. I see it as a B which is fine in my book. The only problem, is the way the search defaults, you get very few plays once it drops to an average of 4. I for one, now that I know, will be jumping to page 10+ when I'm searching for an arc to play. The medium-play 4* arcs are probably where most of the excellent content is.

Well, that and from some reviewers or people commenting on their arcs or sig-lines in these forums.

    4 Star Blues

I may be wrong but if you don't get tickets for a rating they could have rated anything below 3, right?

So if you are sitting at the brink of going from 5 to 4 then even a 2 might bring it down. I wish the author could see the exact score to 1 or 2 decimal places. That would ease the blow or let you know how many 5's it would take to recover. Of course what I'd really like is to know is how many votes I got of each rating. It's basically impossible to tell. Oh heck, who am I kidding, I want all the stats - how many plays, how many completions, the whole ball of wax.

My first arc got zapped on the 9th and 10th vote (assuming a party since they came in simultaneously) and now 4 weeks later it's only gotten 2 more votes (both 5's).

My second arc was my first experience of having a story lots of people seemed to really like. I have to say it was very exciting logging in each day and getting such nice tells and seeing that I had 4 or 5 plays overnight and still at 5*'s. That went on for a full week until that fateful 50th vote. I'm glad for it even if the ride seems to be over now. The great part is that it was all strangers. My friends won't be running it until our next villainous SG meeting on the 16th.

And really, I feel silly. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 4 star rating or average, I should feel proud of both but instead I feel disappointed. It's dumb.

    4 Star Blues

Don't you just hate it? You post an arc and then ride a crest for a week or so when your story is getting lots of plays, lots of votes, lots of positive sometimes glowing feedback. You are on page one with 5 stars and 20, 30, 40 votes...

Then you get the message that someone has rated your arc but no tickets and you get that sinking feeling. Sure enough you go back to AE to check and now your arc is on page 12 with 4 stars and never gets played again.

What a let down. I can't help but ask why did the one guy hate it so much he would rate it 0, 1, or 2 stars? I know, it's dumb to think like that and there is certainly nothing wrong with a 4 star rating in the large scheme of things but I can't help but feel disappointed.

Ah well, it was fun and exciting while it lasted. Besides, I originally made it for my friends and not for mass consumption anyway. I'll keep telling myself that.
  19. Huh, that might explain some of my problems with the same issue. Hate to drop patrols but I'll try it and see.

    Thanks from me too!
  20. I do the same, well, not on a bus but at a table during lunch. I find it helps to get at least an outline on paper before I start.

I leave the enemy group off with perhaps a vague level range or type of group I want then look it up later.

Some missions of course are made for certain groups but in that case you wouldn't care about levels.
  21. Golden_Avariel

    Custom critters?

Being able to rename standard mobs had been on my wish list from the beginning. That is so cool. I'm looking forward to it.
  22. I understood him to say he would be stealing time to look it up without a list. I'm suggesting he steal time once to make his own list, assuming no one else has done it.

To the op - My apologies if you are completely unable to login and are writing up a mission to pass the time. Sorry.

    On farms

    Oh for the love of....

We already have 5 other threads about or related to "farming" in this stupid forum. I wish everyone would just give it a freakin' rest!
  24. or you could login and make your own.

    *shrugs* just sayin'
  25. I'm sure time depends on the complexity of your arc but my 98.7% full arc didn't take even 1 minute to upload. But I can believe times would vary widely.

"My Published Arcs" - that was it. I knew "Mission" was probably wrong but couldn't remember for sure. Oh well, points for trying I hope.
