  1. Justice Fencer on Protector joined multiple banner teams over the weekend. We only managed to get the GM once. I guess we didn't do enough damage because none of us got that badge (monstrous?) or the accolade although we did get the temp power.

So I'm sitting with 4 of the 5 banner badges. I might try again this weekend but with people getting tired of running it already last weekend I'm not holding out much hope.

Afterward we spent several hours in Talos hunting for Jack. I lost count of how many times we defeated Eochai (I think around 9 times) but we never managed to spawn him. The team finally disintegrated due to everyone needing to go deal with real-life trick-or-treaters.

BTW - call out to Hawk and "Its ONLY Me" for some great fun even if we couldn't get those final two badges.

<add> The Tuesday after it started, our coalition on Justice got two teams together and we smoked event after event. I got the accolade on 4 or 5 different characters that night. Two teams really seems to be the optimal. I have to admit though that back then there was usually plenty of others joining in - saw you in Brickstown Texas Justice
  2. I'll try from another zone. It isn't like it's giving us an error and I know it used to work so it is definitely worth a try.

I can /friend him but that only tells me if he's on with the same toon. Not a perfect solution by any means. Especially since he can't (rightfully) use the friend channel so still no way for 2-way communication unless it's convenient to join in a team.

His game is in transit now. He should have a full version by Monday. I told him it was an early Christmas present... too bad he didn't tell me he was downloading a trial so I could send him a referal instead. He'll be the 5th person I've gotten into the game but not a single credit yet LOL.

    Dark Melee/Ninja

I'm beginning to think that Dark Melee is not a popular primary. No one responded to my post about DM/WP either. The two heals was one of the things that sold me on it, that and I have had good experience with the set in other AT's.

Would you mind posting a quick layout of the powers you took? I'm also curious if you took Touch of Fear and if it stacked with AS well like I think it will.
  4. Oh thank goodness!

*goes to check another item off his wishlist that was labeled "can't/won't be done"*

    Can we keep it?

I love the deadly apocolypse event and concept and I hope for more like it (fixed so badges are awarded more consistently), but I agree it should be limited to halloween.
  6. My tank hit 47 (woohoo!) a week ago and my recipe inventory is now filling up on level 50 generic recipes. I haven't done anything but Unai's arc missions with a team of 3 all of whom are level 47 or lower. We run either +0 or +1 rep (depending on who's mission we set active).
  7. Since when did trial accounts become unable to accept global friend invites? Is that part of the "cannot join any global channels"? I could swear I was able to accept one from my son when I first joined.

A friend of mine gave me a surprise phone call last night asking me to meet him by Ms Liberty. I rushed over and sent him a global friend invite and he said he was accepting the invite but I didn't have him in my global list or vice versa. He said his chat box had nothing related to the invite - either an error or an acknowledgement though I could believe he was just missing it.

I could make him a regular server friend but that hardly helps me know he's on if I happen to be on an alt.

So either he's doing something wrong or this is just one more thing about trials that drives me crazy.

*wanders over to Amazon to check out the box titles... Christmas is coming soon anyway*
  8. I didn't take this but I think it is awesome. It is titled "Rescue of Lady Jane"

  9. I may be mistaken but it seems pretty difficult to find roleplay outside of a supergroup that supports it. Those can be found on any server.

I know trying to find it in a pug or just standing around can be virtually impossible, even on Virtue.

All I can recommend is to stay in character when possible without being obnoxious about it and eventually you'll accumulate some global friends who like to roleplay too or even stumble across an invite into a RP supergroup. I know, back when we were recruiting, we did it by inviting random people who asked to join us and weren't scared off when we told them we roleplayed. Then checked out how much they joined in.

I have been able to get an AS off before they have the chance to break my hide since it is a target you ambush. After the LB are taken care I stealth back to the vault door. I take out any guards near the vault and elevator, if there is one. Then I destroy the doos and grab the money. Usually i wait in the vault for the ambushes and just take them out as they come in. I try to save a purple, yellow and red insperations to pop when the "hero" arrives, then target him/her followed by any longbow since hose are what you need to complete the mission.
This worked fine. I've had BAD experiences rushing to the bank in the past but with the hide it was a snap and I had zero longbow in the bank entrance hall. The rest went exactly like you said. I was beginning to think the hero never would show up but as soon as I started making my way back into the bank she finally showed up.

Fastest, safest Mayhem I've ever run and my new stalker now has a raptor pack. Thanks.

Kelly is also 30-34 and Gordon will pass you on directly to her. You'll have to do her arc before she introduces you to Bucky. If you look like you might make 35 before you get started on Buck's story book, then turn off exp.

I don't have any experience in using the flashback for him but I have done his arc several times.

And, yes, I am in zones appropriate to their levels. It's mainly due to failing to hit the mobs while they have very little difficulty hitting. And -hit/-rchg on a newbie is awful.

On a few occaisions, my wife and I would team up with our 7 year old. With the combo's we have, combined, we usually have little difficulty, even when we all hit the door at the same time.
This has been my experience. In fact, any AT that's not a Tank/Scrapper/Brute of mine has a hard time no matter what level they are.

Well... ok... my mid 20's weather defender just needs to find doors inside alcoves to do well because hurricane is just that awesome. But she's the exception.

I guess the 2-3 werewolves/door at level 16 and the multiple bosses in the 20's are just too much for me to have any fun at it. The drop rate on the event salvage in a solo team is also very poor.

Add 1 other melee-type person and it becomes passible. A three-man team of almost any combo starts being easier and the salvage starts coming in at a reasonable rate. The more the merrier for TOT it seems. And I can understand that... but I wish it worked equally well no matter how big your team is.

Is that what they said? I thought it was "Enhancement prices will be standardized across all vendors/contacts" as in contacts won't SELL enhancements for more than the stores do (frequently 200%). I actually wish contacts sold for less than stores. It would certainly encourage people to try for contacts of their origin.
  15. Wow, just stumbled on this thread. I agree with most everything here... move grenade from medic to soldiers and give the medic a boost in his support ability. A critical stealth strike for spec ops would be cool... they have tear gas? And yes, the stun doesn't last long enough or happen often enough. I've been unimpressed with the commando, even after tactical upgrade. After reading this I think it's because his cool stuff doesn't recharge often enough for me to notice he's even used them.

I also respec'd out of Serum. It's ok but nothing spectacular. If it recharged a little faster and gave a damage buff I'd probably take it again. It seems pretty lame compared to what other sets get. I'm not really for changing it completely, just make it better at what it does.

Oh yeah, they could REALLY use some fire resistance at the very least.

It feels like my Spec Ops duo do better than my commando. I use them in any job where I need someone to start a fight or for a ... well... special operation. Back before I respeced out of Serum it seemed to give better mileage on one of them. I love them. But maybe that's because they don't go charging into combat like all the others do.

I took all 3 tiers as well as my first two personal attacks. I don't frequently forego the soldiers but if I do (mostly for street sweeps) it works out ok with me semi-filling in the holes.

This is only half true. Henchmen tend to be easily bumped out of the way but they do hinder movement of everyone that's not their master. I frequently play in a 3-MM team and the thugs seem to be constantly in my way. My wife hates playing in teams with more than one MM because of the crowded conditions.
  17. I have FF on mine and can verify that damage seems to be a bit of a problem. Not that I have any other MM experience to compare it to.

FF does work well to keep them safe and it has multiple tools to keep opponents at a distance but I can't really recommend FF with mercs.

I did the first time, the second time was just a test to see how bad it was (it wasn't my mission, I was co-op). I found out.

But even the first time, as soon as I got hit with a spear and realized what was happening, besides a reflexive rifle burst, I hit the super jump and made my way to the door as fast as possible. I still died just as I reached the door. I saw the door opening as he went to his knees then I transitioned. Almost but not quite. I was actually surprised the mission succeeded. I guess I used my last breath to crawl out the door and my medics were waiting with a medivac coptor.

I can tell you my MM has an itch to kill Darrin Wade for that debacle... especially when he revealed that he was stark raving mad at the end (as far as Agent Burns is concerned). When he got the Mercedes Shelden mission I was pumped! LOL

Anyway, I was only wondering if there was a trick to it or if escape really is the only way. If it is then it seems to me like a 50/50 crap-shoot depending on reflexes and which travel power you have (if any).

And I absolutely love the O-portal idea. Never occurred to me to use it inside a mission before.

    My first Stalker

I started a stalker (on Protector) this weekend and having a lot of fun. I've made it to 8th and I'm loving the assassin strike. One more paper mission and I'll be headed into the Mayhem mission for the jet pack.

I'm trying Dark Melee/Willpower. Any pointers from those experienced with the combo would be welcome. Most of the guides seem very old and none for me in particular. I'm hoping Touch of Fear will be a great asset not to mention having two heals (I think, if I'm reading it right).

How do stalkers generally approach a Mayhem mission? So far it seems like ambushes zero in on me despite being hidden so I'm assuming I'll have to fight the longbow ambushes normally along with whatever else might happen to be in the vicinity when they strike. If that's true then the hero ambush at the end will be similar.
  20. His last mission to infiltrate the Midnighter's Club seems... well... difficult if approached like a normal mission.

The first time I tried it was with my mastermind. Since I couldn't have my pets (I assume) I went in alone. Got ambushed, discovered my little carbine was going to help me not at all and just ran for the door. As the door swung open I died and face planted in Cap with "mission successful".

I tried with my brute and found the armor displays impossible to defeat in the few seconds of life I had before they killed me.

My question - is there a successful strategy for doing this or is running for the door your only viable option? Do most people just drop this mission or avoid it or just accept that it's a problem? What the heck do teams do? You can't even enter the mission without being attacked unless you have the disguise (for all I know you can't enter the mission at all).

Just curious. I'll have to do it soon with my dominator because my teammate wanted to do Wade's arc and I tagged along. Thanks in advance.

Free subscription, but as usual, this leads to it being full of morons. There's far too much grinding, and even more, loot and how long you spend working are only moderately related. Only about 1% of the players ever even get close to the top loot. PvP sucks, death penalties are way too harsh, there's way too much downtime, and the devs haven't talked to the playerbase in so long that a substantial portion of the players think they didn't even exist in the first place. Crafting also takes forever.

On the upside, the servers are very stable.
This was what I was expecting when I got here (very clever by the way).

I was surprised and happy to see what it actually was. I'll have to wander over to Amazon and pick up a copy.
  22. The only feedback I have is that the TOT spawns while solo are a bit too tough. My wife has given up solo TOT which is sad because she loves doing it.

<Edit> Ok, that and I love the changes made since last year. It really seems to have cut down on the knock-and-run griefing that was so prevalent last year.
  23. The only times I've seen the Council win was when I helped them. The group had one of those council that just lay on the ground and doesn't respond to being hit. He somehow survived when I broke up the fight so I just left him laying on the ground playing dead.

But that probably doesn't qualify as a Council win does it?
  24. Last year I got tired of the event really quickly. Mainly because of the griefing going on. The changes they made this year makes me actually look forward to a Trick result since they are the ones dropping the salvage. Also, that same change plus restricting PC's to level-appropriate areas, makes griefing almost non-existent. Or at least I haven't seen any. I think that plus the banner event makes this year's event much, much better than last year and I'm glad they have extended it.

Besides, I only had my first real chance to trick-or-treat last night. And it won't be until next week that our coalition can put together a couple of banner event teams. I expect that to be a lot of fun. Kudos to War Witch for the great idea.

Extending the event just means I can take it slower. Keep doing what we always do to have fun and break for Halloween fun when we feel like it.
