  1. I'm not saying those probably aren't the same, I'd bet they are, but the patch notes links provided so far are for the latest training room patch notes from last week. The OP was a valid question.

Jessica is very much like this (except the eyes and what I assume ***** stands for). She was originally created in Neverwinter Nights as an npc - kidnapped by kobolds after they killed her parents. She watched all the other children die before she was rescued by a paladin. He was mortified to find her a little later in the now-dead kobold caves with a large magical knife and a depleted magical wand. She was only 9 at the time.

She's now a dominator in the Rogue Isles having been betrayed by a pet demon she kept in a crystal. He flung her across dimensions to save himself because she scared him.
  3. Not many, I wasn't a big movie watcher when I was young. I was more into TV (especially SNL and Monty Python, Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels, V, Battlestar Galactica, etc) but notable films for me then were:

    *Superman
    *Star Wars
    *2001 A Space Odyssey
    Logan's Run
    M*A*S*H
    Apocalypse Now
    *Patton
    *James Bond movies in general
The Man Who Would be King
    Animal House
    Wizards

    * = Actually saw at the theater

Of those, Star Wars and The Man Who Would be King are still near and dear to my heart.
  4. The Second Hand Lions quotes are outstanding. Lots of good ones already but here's a one we find ourselves quoting often from Aliens which is just full of good quotes:

Newt: They mostly come out at night... mostly

We like to add "mostly" to anything someone says is always or mostly true, of course we say it the same way Newt said it in the movie.

    Runners up:
Down Periscope: Admiral's son (can't remember character's name): Dress rehersal for hell boys!

Aliens had a similar line from Hudson but I've reached my limit.
  5. I gathered up all 3 temp travel powers on my new stalker because I couldn't figure out how to fit in a travel power until late in life. Ninja run is not only very suitable for my little Knife-of-Artemis wanna-be but it will make not having a true travel power a lot less painful. Woohoo!
  6. Single funniest television show I ever saw.
  7. If they have a turkey invasion they should drop from helicopters... hitting the ground like wet bags of cement...

    OH THE HUMANITY!
  8. I don't really like being responsible for filling out a team so I'll normally turn it down. If I did take it then it probably wouldn't last much longer as people started leaving and I didn't or couldn't replace them. I just don't like using the search or sending tells to strangers.

But like a few others here, by the time the leader leaves I'm probably looking for an excuse to leave as well. So I almost always leave when the guy who invited me leaves.

No no no... whichever one you want is the one you won't get. I'm pretty sure that's 90/10 true... maybe 100/0.

The first time it happened earlier this year we ran into them in level 35 radios so yeah. I have no doubt it happens outside Manticore. They fixed it but it came back sometime, maybe with i16. I'm not sure.
  11. I was wondering why there were level 34 (blue-con) minions all over the place. I thought the -1 bug only happened on level 50 TF's. So they keep us from using the challenge setting and locked us all in at -1? That's too funny and a bit sad. I was disappointed when we walked in the first mission and saw a sea of blues.

Our little group of 33rd and 32nd levels SSK'd to 35 could take out the PPE's one at a time but 5 at once was overwhelming. We did manage to take down 2 of them before we wiped and we lost mainly because the empath froze... you could tell he was map served from his repeating animation. Everyone lost hit points rapidly after that and by the time he apparently freed-up he was dead and we all quickly followed. But it was quite a sense of accomplishment when we went back and defeated the final 3.
  12. We ran into a group of 5 level 40 Paragon Protector Elite's in the 3rd mission of Manticore's TF. After a tactical retreat... to the hospital... we managed to separate and conquer. Thank goodness I decided to shift the star to the level 41 before we started. We weren't 7 levels below them, only 5.

Anyway, heads up that bug is still around. I was under the impression it had been fixed.

    Radeon 7000?

So that's what I was going by. I can't help it if it's wrong. *shrugs*

Not that it matters. We all now know the 7000 doesn't support COH and he's comitted to getting another card assuming he can find one.

I just found the list of supported cards on the support site and I've forwarded it to my friend.

    Radeon 7000?

Thanks. I had already told him that I thought the 7000 was too old but would ask. It isn't like I keep up with graphics cards so I have no idea how the ATI numbering works, when anything was released which ones are before or after or the same as the stated minimum or what they supported (aside from ATI literature which says the 7000 supports DirectX 8 and OpenGL).

Most of his doubts arise out of the fact that she can run Guild Wars with no problems at all. I told him different games, different requirements.

I have no idea what sort of computer she has but I know it is the same age as his computer which runs the game fine with an X-something... 600 I think. Hopefully they can find a card that will fit and it does fix her issues. I'm mostly concerned that they'll spend the money to do that and it won't fix the original problem... as in the video would have been a problem if they could have gotten that far but there is actually something else wrong.

[Edit: Just spoke with him and he has a 4x AGP. He decided that even if it doesn't fix COH it'll probably make GW run faster so he's good to take the risk. He's looking around for a new card but they are pretty rare. I'm not sure what to tell him is compatible at this point much less the most value for the dollar. Anyone ever heard of HIS cards?]
  15. I thought the hover-stutter with the shield was fixed a patch or two ago. I wasn't aware of a problem with jumping. I'll have to give it a try.

    Radeon 7000?

My friend is getting an Assertion date error when he tries to login to the game. He's running a Radeon 7000 and support is telling him he has to upgrade his card to fix the problem. He is understandably doubtful that would actually fix his problem since the error message doesn't mention the graphics card at all.

Is anyone running or ever run that card with COH? I notice when I try to find drivers for it they go WAY back to like Catalyst 6.6 so I'm thinking NCSoft support might know what they are talking about, however money is an issue so I want to make sure he must buy a new video card to play.
  17. I tried to keep you shielded but it was pretty chaotic sometimes and I'd miss a refresh.

    Chat Tab

Thanks guys, I passed it on and we'll see if that fixes his problem. The wiki also says you can right-click on a tab and there should be an option "Move to Bottom" that makes the bottom pane reappear (assuming he didn't actually delete "Chat").

Now if NCSoft support can figure out why his wife's computer gets the date-related Assertion error we'll have two new folks.

    Chat Tab

My friend with the trial account has somehow permanently closed the bottom window of his chat box, the one with the Chat tab. We've tried restoring chat and windows but nothing seems to work. The middle bar is gone, there is nothing to grab to pull up or down. Resizing the whole chat window does not make it appear.

It's keeping him from communicating in-game. I'm at a loss as to what to tell him to do. I've never seen anything like that.
  20. We had some great costumes including yours. I especially liked Oopsie Daisy the crazed and stoned hippie

Not that I ever got a good look at Inertial Shadow since she was hidden the entire time... or I assume it was a she.

I assume team 2 did just as well as we did if not better? Anyone know?
  21. I had a great time. Thanks for letting Agent Burns tag along... and the coral hammer is pretty cool too even if it looks like a giant tooth on a stick.

  22. Nope, didn't work even from another zone. Sometime along the line they did remove the global friends capability. No matter, Monday he'll be playing with a full deck.... about time.
  23. I'd like to join this week with Agent Burns, level 33 merc/ff mm.

How long should it take? I've never done this strike force before.
  24. I was on trial in June of last year. There were plenty of restrictions. I remember my friend and I waiting outside each other's missions because we couldn't team ourselves together. I also remember being unable to talk except in local mode. And I remember my son reactivating his account and inviting us to be his global friends so we'd all know when the others were online. That was when I learned the difference between Global and Server friends. That was all well before I upgraded to the full version.

I also remember after i14 went live, I got another friend to try it out and I only removed him from my global friends list a month or two ago because he never upgraded from trial. So obviously I was able to invite him.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure you could invite (but not be invited by) a trial account to be your global friend at least as recently as this past spring.
