I have a similar experience as the OP. Justice Fencer blue-side at 37 and Agent Burns red-side at 36 are worlds apart.
I'm not sure on Fencer's history but I know of 17 arcs she's completed for a total of 222 merits. She has run a grand total of 3 radios and 1 safeguard but does join big teams as often as possible which is also merit-less.
Burns' history is easy to trace. Burke, Creed, Radio, McKnight (both), Brass (first), Marino, Wade, Dubrowski, Cage (both), Maros, Kirkland, Demitrovich, Sheldon, Rutger (both), Mu'Drakhan (running but assuming both). 15 contacts, approximately 19 arcs for 129 merits. He has run untold numbers of newspapers with multiple mahem missions but very little teaming.
The number of contacts is very similar, with slightly more arcs red-side. But the average for Fencer is 13 merits per arc while it is only 8 for Burns.
The real difference has been in the last 10 levels hero-side. With arcs that give 34 (Freaklympics), 26 (Unity Plague), and 27 (Path into Darkness) giving Fencer a huge boost over Burns who was lucky to get 15 from each of his last two contacts.
Note that I was not trying to maximize merits in either case. I just ran whatever sounded interesting for whatever contacts were available in the normal course of play. I knew there was a big gulf between them but hadn't really thought about it before I read this thread. -
Thanks Arwen. That's awesome to hear. Shadowguardinal will be there about once a month or so.

Quote:So it is a known problem that sometimes it just doesn't work at all and you have to wait for it to reset normally. Got it. At least it's good to know that I'm not imagining it.It's been known to happen that abandoned missions don't get immediately wiped from the servers. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes and, rarely, 10 minutes to reset.
-
Is anyone else having trouble resetting missions? I've done it dozens of times in the past but in the last week or so it doesn't seem to work.
1) Remembered I'd out-leveled a mission by 2 levels after we'd gone in and cleared the first mob (all blues and greens). Got the team out, upped my difficulty by 2, chose someone else's mission, selected YES to abandon, re-selected my mission, went in.... first group still gone, second group right where we left it, still -1 & -2.
2) Went into a mission and everything was +3 & +4. Tried anyway with a party wipe. Exited mission, put difficulty back down (had forgotten about it), selected someone else's mission, YES to abandon, re-select mission, go back in... everything was still red and purple.
I guess I need to try it solo sometime just to make sure but thought I'd ask if anyone else is seeing this. -

Quote:The artist designed the pose and on the practical side it looks like she's taunting or challenging something unseen. If we leave it right there it would be plenty since she's never been afraid of confrontation ("what's the worst that could happen?" was our in-joke for those first 20 squishy levels while we were still learning the game - she was my first regularly played character).I really like how this came out GA.
Can you give some info on the pose? What is she reaching out to?
But it struck a deep chord when I saw it because to me Lana has always been reaching for something... going from "weird kid with the tail" to a top gymnast in high school, becoming a hero like the ones that saved her from the Circle of Thorns... but mainly to connect with other people who tend to shun her because of her mutation's uncontrollable and macabre side-effects.
I think Jet hit her exactly on-target and really breathed life into her for me. Even the clunky boot is typical, practical Lana.
I'm very pleased.

I'd like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas as well... even you Mr. Quinch.

Quote:Look closer at the clouds, especially just to the right of her outstretched hand and just above the left scarf are two more though a little less defined.Very cool... Can always count on Taclobanon for great arts!
I'd have maybe liked the skulls to be just a tad more obvious but that's just my personal taste
[Edit] Oh, you meant MORE obvoius. No, I like them the way they are. It's a constant in her life but it doesn't rule her. -
Took me a while but I finally decided on Taclobanon (Jet Amago). I got the rough draft today and I'm pretty excited...
one of the reference shots...
Thanks for the direction when I asked (a few weeks ago). -
I think you matinee'd too late or too soon. This thread was for last Saturday, the 19th. The announcements usually go up on Wednesday so expect to hear something new tomorrow.

Quote:I do believe that hits it on the head. I did notice he was running around with +4/x1 and I thought he'd forgotten to lower it after we did an old mission of his. He was also talking about how much he liked hover-blasting so I bet that's it. One of those where the mission is nothing but single warriors guarding a glowie or something.Doing the same mission over and over for 25 levels should gave any sane person some kind of disturbed feeling. Whether it's cheating or not is another question. If he was running solo at +4/x1 or +3/x2, it's entirely possible that he could find some standard mobs and tactics that would give him lots of XP. Hover-blasting against Warriors, Freaks or some similar group might work.
Every time I do something really interesting in the game (like last night's Hami raid) I tell him all about it and his response is usually the same "That sounds great... as soon as I get this character to x I'll have to start exploring the content." Of course "x" kept going up until he hit 50 and now he's working on another character. This morning was "as soon as I get sis here to 30th I'll...." -
And that's me at the bottom of the screen in the center!
Thanks SO much for organizing this Arwen. I am so happy to have finally gotten to take him down. Now Shadow can feel like Tanya Tyler has been at least partially avenged. -
For the record... 3 KB IO's will stand up to the worst Hami has to offer.
-
And Shadowguardinal was happy for your contribution Manoa!
And as promised...
The Hamidon goes down!
Big thanks to all the great tanks in our team who took this baby tank under their wing. -
Yes... more options and decorative items to choose from are always good.
I'm going to resist listing any other things I'd like to see as that list would be very long and oddly enough is mostly already in the game, just not available in the base editor... like beds and other home furniture. And yes... properly sized so you don't feel like a 3 year old without a booster seat at the table. -
I've been wanting to build a Broadsword Tank since I started the game. Still waiting.
-
There are new level-up missions but I'm not sure if they are exploits or not. Most of them I've been shown by well-meaning friends were no better or worse than finding a good farming mission in the regular content.
However, a friend of mine somehow managed to solo a blaster from about 25 to 50 in around a week (playing a few hours at a time) using some AE mission he'd found. He said it felt like cheating but he really wanted to get to 50. I have no idea why he thought it was cheating or what type of mission it was. -
Shadowguardinal now has mag 12 knockback protection and is parked in the Hive ready for tanking duty.
I'm getting a little excited. I'll see you guys there! -
Thanks Aett. That supports what I finally found on the wiki "If the magnitude of a status effect exceeds the target's protection, the target will suffer the affects of the status effect." The "exceeds" word being key.
I think I'll give it a try and go taunt Hami to see what happens.
Worst case scenario I'll respec out of the 3rd KB IO and give it to one of my other PC's. -
If a knockback and a KB Protection have equal magnitude... which one wins?
I assume you subtract KB Protection from KB and if the result is less than or equal to zero then you are unaffected, but I want to be sure.
If I want to tank for a Hami raid, would 3 KB IO's be enough? I understand it has mag 12 Knockdown's (and I've experienced it LOL) and 3 would add to 12 which is what brings up my question. I have 1 IO now which works 90% of the time for me and I always intended to add a 2nd but I think I could squeeze a 3rd in if it would work. -
Sounds good Manoa thanks. I know my tank can't join the Hami taunt team, as much as I'd like to, because of my lack of real KB protection (only 1 KB IO). But I'm willing to do whatever task is assigned. She's pretty scrapperish (the need for damage on a tank/controller duo made her that way) so maybe a yellow team.
I've posted an announcement on our sg boards and I'll include a link to that guide. Hopefully I can drum up some enthusiasm. -
I would like to participate with my brand new 50. She's a tank (dark/dark). I might could get Lark to join who is a controller (grav/rad) and perhaps 2 or 3 others from our coalition.
I don't believe any of us have ever done a Hami before and would need some instruction. How long do these things generally take? That seems like a pretty late start.
BTW - my tank has recall friend if that's important. -
I would love to know there was a regular hami or ship raid going on to participate in. The last time I went to see Hami he looked awful lonely...
Of course, he 3-shotted me when I went down to give him a hug... the brute!
