I thought it was cool that I helped Arvin complete his experiment and flee the city with his nephew. Not finding him in either my contact list or physcally back by the hospital was pure win.
Then I just called Calvin back and he gave me Jessica.
I'm loving the Warden arcs so far. I did force the cop to join his brother and father in exile but it is what he *said* he wanted to begin with. At that point it was too late to back out as far as I was concerned... too much exposure to the Resistance to allow it. No matter how you slice it, even being a Warden, you are operating way outside the law and have to take precautions... makes it so appropriate to explain how a stalker became a hero. -
That brings up a question... if there is an added AV for the portal jockey badge and I have the old arc running (just did seige and nightstar) am I going to miss the badge?
I have this sinking feeling that I will. -
*pouts that he's stuck running the old one because he'd done the first mission of the old arc the day before GR came out*
The real kicker is that I am in the same boat on a different character with Tina. -

Quote:Oh lord yes! I hate that crouch. It makes me want to slap people which is unusual for me, I don't usually care what people do or how they act around me. I'm not sure why I react that way. I guess because it IS so silly.Nothing looks more silly right now than half the people crowding around the trainer or vendor in Nova all in the Ninja "power crouch" idle animation. I hate the idle animation. The running and flipping around is not so bad.
But I do love the utility of the power and the animations while running/jumping are cool - especially with weapons in-hand. -
Katie is right. They do it because of changes to existing powers. This time it was because of changes to fiery auras, 1st tier tanker attacks, brute changes, and martial arts. I don't think I've ever seen an issue release that didn't include at least one change to either a power, an AT, or an IO set bonus that wouldn't invalidate a few builds somewhere.
Rather than give them only to the characters that might need them they give them to everyone which I think is a nice gesture. -
Drat! Came to report that Shadowhunter was still part of the story but I see if you had the arc pre-GR you still have the old arc. Blah... I guess I'm stuck with the old arc for both Jenkins and Tina (on my two level 40+ characters).
-
My understanding is that a Rogue or Vigilante can join any team in the game except flash-back missions for the opposite side. You can't talk to a contact so the story arcs can't be yours.
Once you are a full Hero then you can do anything any other Hero can do. -
50 Merits is a nice reward for basically running newspaper missions so I'm not complaining too much. It just struck me as ... well... dumb. Why have two different rewards for the same thing?
I had some plans on my mastermind to get 2 alignment merits to buy a particular recipe. 22 missions seemed like a steep but acceptable cost... now it's 22 plus some cash. *shrugs* Ok. I think he has a metric ton of vanguard merits too so I'll look into that as well. -
So you have to run 2 morality missions to get your first alignment merit? That seems dumb... beyond dumb.

I'm having the flashing too and I do not have FSAA turned on. It is very irritating. Last night it was happening about every 5 seconds. Seemed fine this morning.
Edit: Same graphics card as the OP. -
I chose Resistance in the tutorial too and at level 4 Calvin Scott automatically showed up in my contact list (I got a popup and everything). When I called him (after finishing Praetor White's arc) he gave me two contacts to choose from - the Crusader and the Warden. I picked the Warden contact. I happen to be in the Resistance base and clicked on Richochet and so now I have both.
Seems to be working fine for me. I wonder why you guys didn't get the same? -
Were you running tips missions? Was your fame bar filled up?
-
I thought they only vanished when you switched sides. Like if you get some hero/vigilante tips in Paragon then enter the Rogue Isles they'll all disappear and you start over.
I'd love to hear what caused this. To me the tips missions (with or without GR) are a great addition to the game. -
But it is kind of strange. And I frequently hit BU *after* the AS if I know it can kill the target in a single strike without BU. That way I get the bonus for longer during the scrapping portion of the fight.
-
I did my first tip mission this morning as an experiment. I was sort of afraid it wouldn't count because I don't have GR yet (it's in the mail!) but it worked properly as far as I can tell. I'll be running more soon and by the time I finally get the box I should be ready for the morality mission.
My MM is going rogue (and possibly hero) but most of my other characters will just be "re-affirming" to get the alignment powers. -
In the late 20's my DM/WP (2 heals ftw) stalker joined a mayhem mission. The owner wanted to charge the bank so we did. When the dust settled from the inevitable multiple waves of Longbow in front of the bank entrance, my stalker was still standing while the rest of the team was face-planted all around me (and I had a new-found appreciation for the Loa Bone
).
That's just the first story. I've had as many epic moments with my stalker as all my scrappers combined. I will definitely be building more stalkers in the future. -
I noticed this morning while running newspapers in Nerva that my broker tab has been renamed "Detective." A quick search revealed it was reported as a bug in Closed Beta but I'm wondering if it is a bug or if that is now a general tab for all broker/detective contacts? If I go hero will any detectives I run across get lumped in the same tab?

This was absolutely the hardest thing for me to get used to. In my previous game the camera ignored the ceiling and allowed you to zoom out even in indoor areas. You just saw blackness behind walls and empty corridors around corners. Even walls weren't a real hinderance above a certain height.
It wasn't perfect and frequently allowed you to see things you shouldn't, but it was definitely a shock when I first came to COH. The camera distance was shifting back and forth so much I'd get physically ill. One moment I can see a hallway fine and the next I'm counting teeth through a shattered television set on a Lost goon who had followed me into a corner to beat me up for my lunch money. It was especially bad with those who want to hover in a mission with a low ceiling.
But I slowly came to realize that in a game with true 3-D movement I was never going to have a camera that ignored ceilings and chopped off the upper stories of buildings and trees etc. As soon as I accepted that I started getting used to it and learned to control my camera angle better. It just took a few months. -
Quote:No need to feel bad Jak, we totally understand. Our ability to hook up at the same time has been notably bad lately. I can't remember the last time you made a SG night. I hope your 50(s) find a good home that you enjoy. You and your wife will still have your low levels with us I assume so there is hope that we'll still get to play together. The announcement of the upcoming free transfers is the circumstance that has prompted this thread. It is unthinkable that I would emigrate as several RL friends got us into the game and naturally we are all on the same server. I hate to pull one of the only two really good all-around toons I have out of our guild, but I can't make any more without some form of income and I just really dislike marketing.
Jak
BTW - a lot of Justice folks were in the closed beta which started back in the spring. Same thing happened in the months prior to i17. I expect it to pick back up next week but I don't think we'll ever compete with Virtue or Freedom for sheer number of events. -

Quote:So it really is "Fame" because they represent how many you have run in the last 20 hours, not how many have dropped on you. I'd also spaced the whole "can only have 3 tips at a time" thing or I wouldn't have even asked. Sorry but at least I think I have it straight now.It is a visual representation of how many counting missions (including shared tips) you have done in the last 20 hours. You cannot "save up" and do more. If you have filled your 5 fame points, no more tip missions will count towards filling your alignment bars. You can't do 5 hero tips, 5 vigilante tips for progress. You could do 3 hero tips and 2 vigilante tips for progress in a 20 hour period. You are free to do more tip missions with friends, but they will not count if your fame points are filled.
No comment other than to say that when you hover over a Fame Point you'll get "You are famous for this deed for X amount of time" or "Your deed will be forgotten in XX minutes".
Sounds sweet. I love the whole idea of tips above and beyond the alignment thing. It would be a nice addition even without Going Rogue. -
Quote:Ahh I see. So you have separate alignment bars and whichever fills up first determines the morality mission you get. The morality missions aren't like tips in that you can't select if you'll do it heroically or vigilante...ly whatever. So if you want to stay a hero but happen to fill up your vigilante bar first you can either do it and reject the change at the end, or drop the morality mission and keep waiting for the hero alignment bar to fill up and get a second morality mission. You get a morality mission when you fill up a alignment bar (I'm going to add/post pictures in a bit). You can still fill other bars you have, and then choose to do a morality mission for that alignment. Also at the end of every morality mission you are given the chance to back out. (If you don't crash at that point. If you do crash at that point, the game sometimes accepts for you.)
Or am I completely off-base?
Does fame control how many tip/morality missions drop on you per 20 hour period or does it control how many tip missions you can run in a 20 hour period or maybe both? I.E. Can you save up your 10 tip missions over a long period of time then run them all one after the other?
[Edit] heh... if it controls how many drop per 20 hours they should rename it from Fame Points to Lucky Clue Points. -
What if you aren't consistent in your tip missions? I'm a hero and sometimes I pick the hero mission and sometimes I pick the vigilante mission? What if I choose vigilante outcomes the whole time can I still run a Hero morality mission to re-affirm my ... umm... heroism?
I guess I'm asking if the morality mission itself is pre-determined by your earlier choices or if you get one final choice to stay hero or vigilante? In the end does it matter which choices you make in the tip missions? -
I'm with the crowd that wants to offer both missions at 30th and allow us to skip the cape. It is annoying to be forced to run the cape to get the aura if you've already done it, don't want a cape, or can't use a cape because of wings. It doesn't matter how long it takes.
