I don't think it's "awfully dull", not like the original Positron was. Fighting Freakshow, like 5th Column, never gets old for me. I have always liked Sister Psyche's TF.
I've never really understood the traveling "problem" either. Travel is so fast and easy in this game it isn't even funny and people still complain about it. So it takes a couple of extra minutes to get to the door - big deal.
I'm not saying it couldn't use a streamline but not a lot. The patrol and the Fiore talk-to are both rather pointless and could be cut. Cut those two and make the final room with Clamor something unique maybe with a cool tactical challenge, then I think it would be just about perfect. But really, there's nothing so wrong with this TF that the devs need to take time to "fix" something that isn't broken.
All just my opinion of course. -

I had a level 49 TO drop on me from somewhere. I had run a flashback for the Spelunker earlier in the day so it very well could have been that.

I hope they announce March before the 1st.
But speaking of hearing something tomorrow after the maintenance... you don't think Avatea really meant it started at 7 PM EST do you? That's supposed to be AM... right? -
I've seen this too but it usually drops down to something slightly higher than it was. When I look in the combat attribute screen I see the IO set bonuses sometimes go crazy right after any sort of enhancement, doubling up and such for a short time before they even out. I think that's probably what we are seeing.

Are you sure? It's a little goat... I'm sure it'd be delicious with BBQ sauce.

Wow, I feel better now. 19 on Justice and 6 on Protector coming up on 3 years this summer.

Quote:It's close to where the O portal lets you out and it's easy enough to O portal back to AP (or wherever you like to run tips). The only one I skip is "You're a Cruel One, Mr. Phipps," just because it makes me go to IP instead of whatever zone I'm doing tips in.
I like the Mr. Phipps mission except for one thing - if you don't pull the guards away from the hostages there is a distinct possibility of them getting killed off by the Arachnos AOE's (at least the rikti is vulnerable to this, not sure about the others). If any of them die you cannot finish the mission because the glowie won't spawn. Then you have to either reset the mission, use the complete function if it's available, or call a GM. -
Nice! I hope you don't mind if I steal a couple of ideas from this thread.

I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about ambushes that spawn aggroed all on one person. I know I was. We aren't talking about standing mobs and how a controller can all too easily get himself more aggro than he counted on. That's a totally different kind of problem.
These are brand new enemies coming from an ambush who spawn and use their ranged alpha strike on the one person and then run past everyone else in the team to zerg the unfortunate and/or unlucky person for no apparent reason.
Where the player is standing or what auras they might be running (assuming it doesn't overlap the spawn point) has nothing to do with it.
I don't know why it happens but it does happen and giving general advice on how to avoid aggro isn't the answer because there is no real answer short of ambush-coding changes. All we can do is have sympathy for those that draw that rare short straw, loan them inspirations and be glad it wasn't us... this time. -
I used to skip the Malta Action Figure tip but not since they fixed it. I also used to skip the Knives missions but as long as the character has Hover/Fly or the Winter's Gift proc I've started doing them again too. So now there isn't anything I skip although the hero tips vs longbow go to the bottom of the list just because some of those feel contrived.
I guess if you run 5 a day in the same level-range for the A-merits I can see why you'd want to do only the fast/stealthable ones. I tend to only run 1 or 2 tips every few days for a variety of alts/alignments/levels so I'm not there yet. -
I first read the title as "Beer with me..."
Then I read it and thought yeah, you'd have to be drunk to want to get knocked around on a tank
My dark got knocked around quite a bit early on. I was fine with it for a while (man that guy hit hard! Woohoo!) but eventually I found the upper level enemies (Nemesis esp) just turned it into a near-constant annoyance and when my teams started suffering for it I buckled down and got a Steadfast.
I guess before inventions every dark and fire had to go leaping for acrobatics... what a bummer that must have been. -
Psi is my best resistance and I've tanked Honoree twice now without any issue (and the last time came away with a breathtaking screenshot). The only reason I asked about the last mission is that it seemed like last time (we pulled) we were buried under ambushes and finally had to send a couple of fliers - a defender and a blaster - to go take out the generators because we could not get out of the entryway into the main room. The first time we just charged in and everything was chaos in which somewhere along the line the mission somehow completed
Famine and Pestilence - that's what I needed to know. I thought they were all the same and I was really dreading that. Nice to know what to look out for.
I've done Hami by both dragging the rikti through the middle and taking out the pylons last and by doing each circle and once on a scrapper we did it by taking out... I'm not sure but I know the pylons & Rikti were taken out last. I'm pretty sure people think that Hami doesn't aggro as easily when the pylons are still on but I don't think that's really true. I've also heard that armor does and does not help against Hami but I'm pretty sure it doesn't... I know my first time I almost died in one shot and took an EoE to survive a second.
Thanks for clearing things up guys. I'm looking forward to doing it tonight.
Shadowguardinal is the black blur in the middle - this was before the No Fade option on Dark Armor. -
Thank you!

Since the WST is LGTF this week I thought I'd find out if there are any misconceptions about this TF that tanks need to know about. I've only run this twice and am not terribly familiar with it.
In particular, the Riders are pretty rough on my poor dark/dark. It seems like the recharge hits the floor and I die fairly quickly once my heals stop becoming available. I also have pretty poor Energy resistance/defense and I think that's also a problem. Any suggestions on how to successfully tank those things would be welcome.
The Hami... is he like the real Hami in that the armors are pretty much useless? Would bringing along a couple of EoE's be helpful? Is there a particular order that works well for taking out the mitos? Is it the green mitos that require the holds? I have tanked him a couple of times but I was just doing what I was told and not sure what was real and what was assumption.
I'm comfortable with the rest although a clear strategy for the final room of graphical glitches would also be welcome.
Thanks in advance. -
I feel the same as the OP. It doesn't happen often but sometimes all the ambushes seem to zero in on one particular character in the team. I've seen it happen a lot although it's only happened to me once (on my controller while buffing the team the ambush spawned and all hit me).
My most recent experience with this oddity was this past Friday. I was doing tips on my scrapper and I had the star and it was my mission. In addition to me the team contained 2 blasters and a controller.
When we did the Save a Spider morality mission the ambushes all ran past me (despite critical hits and sweeping knockdown attacks), through the withering fire of the blasters until there was nothing left but the boss of the ambush heading straight for the controller and killing him. On the second ambush - even though he is hiding out of sight and doing nothing - they run past me and through the blaster fire again to find him in his corner and kill him. None of the subsequent ambushes were any better and we all just did the best we could to kill them as fast as possible. I'm pretty sure he died at least 4 times in that one mission. He was a trooper about it but I'm positive he didn't aggro them, they spawned already aggroed on him. -
It never wears off? Ever? Wow, that's certainly not what I was told. Both times I ran it (the only times I've ever run that TF) we popped him every couple of minutes - so 3 or 4 times total. I was told it lasted longer but better safe than sorry.
Hard to blame folks though. I don't remember getting any hint in-game about how or when to use the gun (and I was the leader and read the mission intros/clues the first time through). They give everyone on the team 10 shots so the natural assumption is that you will need more than 1 application to get 'er done. -
Quote:This is how I use it on my DB scrapper. It rarely goes off but when it does it's in combat. It's nice when I see the damage buff % shoot up 100% (I think that's the number) especially if I'm fighting a big boss at the time - not so much when Blinding Feint is the killing blow of the last member in the spawnThe BEST place to put it that I've found is in Follow Up in Claws and Blinding Feint in Dual Blades. That's if you're using JUST the proc.
Once in a while I think about replacing it with something else since it is pretty rare but so far I still have it slotted. -

Quote:This. The first time I zoned and lost control (about a week after being able to zone with them at all) I just fell back on the way I was used to and still do it that way unless I'm expecting an entrance/exit ambush.I think the easiest way to overcome this bug at present is to play MMs old school style, ie summoning after entering at the start of missions, then dismissing them at end of missions before exiting. Try to avoid zoning into open map zones and missions with them summoned.
This bug really seems to be related to how fast you zone. Since the game kills off your original pets and re-creates them on the other side, I think that they sometimes arrive before you and become orphaned. I zone fairly fast and rarely have this issue whereas friends of mine get it quite often and are generally much slower at zoning. -
I noticed this last night. We didn't have a mixed team but we were divided between FF and Ouroboros. We didn't get the multiple options and I was able to select the mission to get it to show up properly. I don't remember that being a problem last week but maybe we were all in the same zone then, I'm not sure.

Ran a STF last week in a team of 8 with my level 45 cold controller. I didn't always know what was going on (I'd never run it before) and mine were the only 2 deaths that evening but everyone stayed together and had a lot of fun. Finished it in around an hour without any trouble despite pulling multiple AV's. Made 1.7 million experience and was 2 bars from level 47 when we were done.
Ran a Kahn last night with my dark tank in a team of 7. Everyone stayed together and we moved only as fast as everything could be killed between us and the objective which turned out to be quite quickly - we finished it in 1 hour 6 minutes. A few deaths due to either aoe's or over-eagerness (especially the kin) but none were down more than a few seconds before either the rad or empath had them back up and slugging. Everyone had a lot of fun and got their notice and double merits.
Both were wonderful experiences. -
I took the Nerva on my SR scrapper with the intention of getting my non-melee defense closer to the softcap but the more I've played it since getting the extra accuracy, the more I think I've screwed up since I rarely get hit vs the +1 & +2 guys I fight and it isn't like I've ever fall below 95% chance to hit (nevermind how often I actually DO hit), at least not since getting focused accuracy. The occassional EB still hurts sometimes but that's what the god-mode power is for.
I'm really thinking I just wasted 12 shards and need to go musculature for that particular character. That hurts a lot since that character is not on Justice and so solos a lot. She's had 4 shards forever.
I was planning Nerva for my up and coming cold/cold controller, mainly so glacier's awful base accuracy can be improved plus the extra hold duration would be cool... but I think the recharge folks have convinced me to go that way instead. -
no maintenance this morning. When I got on around 7:20am Central US time this morning I saw someone saying that the Kahn had already been run and the appropriate awards had been given so... sometime before that.
BTW - I heard from GM Lloyd that when you finish a TF is when the WST award determination is made. So for those of us who do TF's over a couple of weeks, we can start the LGTF tonight and finish it next week to get the Notice/double merits/massive experience bonus (my level 46 controller got 1.7 MILLION experience as a bonus for doing the STF last week).
