Quote:SSA1 is one of the best bits of content in the whole game - and if you'd like more info on the major characters in it,m you can also check out the old CoH comics that they used to do as a tie-in to the game:This is probably old news to a lot of you who have been playing this game for years. But I want to make a post any way.
I just did the Signature Story Arc for the first time. I had done parts 1 and 2 before, but only now did me and my friend Xanthos have have our first toons reach level 40.
And it's an amazing story. Within the limitations of the game engine, it's a lot of fun and you really feel like you're part of the story.
This alone is enough reason to subscribe, it took us about 20 hours to play through the whole thing, more content than some games have in total.
Except for the Paragon Wiki, I don't know who half the characters are, but even then it's a very nice story.
I'm looking forward to hopefully Signature Story Arc 2.

The fiirst 12 focus of 3 lower level heroes, although 1 of them went on to be very well known around the game - but the series after the first 12 focus on the members of the Freedom Phalanx - and the last 2 were done more as promotions for 2 in game events. -

I read the thread title as "boots", and thought this was going to be some wacky costume part thread

An interesting thing about the Dream Doctor's claim that Ouroboros is evil and must be destroyed, and that he'll send it crashing into the sea, is that we've actually seen what seems to be the aftermath of that in the first misison of Mender Ramiel's arc - and it's not presented as being anything close to a good event.
But as a posisble balance to that, Darrin Wade's wacky antics in SSA1 have shown that trying to control or use Rularuu is kinda dangerous. which makes Silos' plan seem to be pretty risky too.
And then there's Prometheus with his trollface mask going "problem, Incarnates?" after each new bit of info that he revasl to us - so basically, all the major players that we've seen so far in the Coming Storm storyline have hugh potential for massive jerkishness at some point further down the line. -
Quote:Who's being forced to claim a free item?Everyone should be aware by now of how video games try to make you addicted. The 'free friday' promotion would fall under 'Making the players press a lever'.
The time the devs spent creating this slot machine system would have been better spent on game improvements. I prefer games where the players are there because they *want* to play, not because they are *compelled* to. -
Quote:I thought he put the safety of his people above everything else?Just curious, if in the same situation (being overrun and on the verge of defeat), would you allow any of your resources to be turned over to the enemy if it could be helped?
I think it's been established Cole realized the city had been evacuated by Primal Earth (if he would have nuked his own city without that detail is neither here or there)...so purging any potential foothold you can steal from him seems like a **** move, but if you think about those on the opposing team (some of them are power hungry and destructive villains), taking a "if you want to usurp me as the champion and defeat Hamidon, do it yourself. no cheating by using any of my junk" seems reasonable. -

Wouldn't PvP IOs be ok, as they can also be earned in the game?

Quote:What makes them so epic is that they're so comicbook-y - like there's no attempt by them to present themselves as anything other that evil - they even embrace the title of villainsArachnos is probably one of my favorite organizations in this game.
Hail Lawd Recluse! -
I think that this is more likely to be an AT than a power set

Quote:You wonder wronglyYou know, given you're not ending these statements with your usual winkies, it makes me wonder if you're being serious and if there's a tone of bitterness that the text doesn't convey in your posts?
I like Penny, and have zero problem with her joining the Phalanx and helping us out when we need it - I find all this weeping over her promotion very silly -

Quote:Just like the AvengersOften you can just jump into the fray without much worry about level or gear requirements.
That is actually the reason behind the way CoH is designed - as part of the proper comicbook feel, it had to allow all types of superheroes to team up, no matter what their origins or power levels were like - so Hulks and Black Widows are all equally useful in missions. -
Quote:Not reallyAnd villains reap the rewards, of course...
...that is, unless those heroes are desperate to grab at that well juice too in order to attain a balance. Just admit it! You're no pure and shining light of justice, hero! An ounce of grey is worth the world in darkness for many villains but a hero attempting to justify the means is but a step away from black. -
Quote:One possibility is that by depowering him to be a normal person again, it could set up some kind of showdown with Crazy Calvin, with neither of them coming out alive. That would be an interesting idea to have him come back more powerful and seek vengeance on the Incarnates who destroyed his dreams. Although, I will say that if he himself is not dead, his reputation as a 'benign' ruler is. (Of course it's been declining since the events of the TPN Campus trial.)
Sometimes the destruction of your reputation is worse than the destruction of your physical self. -

Quote:That's the whole point - there wasn't enough interest to get Firefly brought back, or to make a movie that'd even be able to earn back its budget at the box office.Look at Family Guy, which got cancelled, and brought back through word of mouth and DVD sales. Star Trek. If any of these things had gotten the "1 and done" treatment that Firefly got, we wouldn't still be talking about them today.
Wouldn't the 3 years between the end of the series and the release of the movie have helped to build up a bigger fanbase like other "cult" seires? -
Quote:They also liked the Avengers - it scored higher with them too.Serenity is a way better movie than Avengers. Even the critics liked it.
Quote:It's only difficulty was getting people though the doors in the first place.
Surely the "it's like Star Wars, only much better" enthusiasim from the Brownshirts would have been enough to at least get enough people out to let break even at the box office?
It's not like it even had a John Carter budget - it shouldn't have been that difficult to earn it back. -

Quote:Tyrant had Duray replaced by a clone, so the clone could still be alive, and Siege can upload his AI to any machine, so there's a chance he could have escaped after the BAF - plus, there's a hint that Mother Mayhem mightn't be totally destroyed, and stuill have part of her lurking in the Seer network. What do you mean "hero"?
Also some Praetorians it's confirmed we killed:
Malaise
Praetor Tilman
Diabolique
Col. Duray(Well WE didn't...)
Nightstar & Siege
Possibly killed:
Anti-Matter
Tyrant(As of i23 trial)
Shadow Hunter(As of i23 trial)
Swan(I23 trial)
Chimera(I23 trial)
Neuron & Bobcat(Seeing as the message "Bobcat seeks vengeance!" appears across your screen...)
It IS a war, after all.
