Now we know where the confusion in Twinshot's arc came from - someone was using an out of date write-up on the gang.

  3. If you want CoH lore on Google Docs, go here:

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BypR...N2M/edit?pli=1

It's not the story bible - but it's quite a few parts of it.

Some of the stuff they wrote in 2004 will blow your mind when you see how they used the idea in more recent content - check out Red Widow's inevitable return and Romans bringing Mot to Dark Astoria.
  4. Actually, I think that there's still some sort of community rep presence here, but it's hard to know how much of it is official, and how much of it is just them being awesome even after being laid off.

We're highlighting different aspects of the story to appeal to different sites - the key is to spread the news beyond the player base and the geekosphere in general to generate enough attention to change NCSoft's attitude from "whatever" to "oops".

There's not a lot we can do now until NCSoft's position becomes clearer - we're working on the media front, and making plans for the various situations that NCSoft's response could lead us to.

Now, I'm back to my default position. It's dead, and will not be saved. I just feel worse about it. *sigh*
There are going to be a few ups and downs during this time - don't give up yet.
  8. We're going to save something from all this.
  9. It would need a huge recoding effort to make it work as an offline game.

You're welcome - I'm going to do everything that I can to help the community try and save the game.

I stopped by on Justice - I was server hopping to give support to all the vigils.

We're only into the 4th day of the crisis period - there's a long way to go yet.
  13. We can also take a wider angle of "geeks under threat from a big business that just doesn't get it" - emphasize it as an attack on the geekosphere as a whole - our fun, harmless nerdy hobby is being stamped out with no reason given.

Just don't mention President Marchand's fate.
  15. If the choice is between another publisher and a player effort, then of course we'll support the publisher option - but we can't rely on there being one, so we've got to organize now for the possibility that we're the only ones who can try and save something from the game.

Great Idea!! I'll get to work on the comic shops around my area, and I'll send Mr. Lee an email as well.
I'd suggest taking an angle that emphasizes just how much this game is a comic book game, and that without his work and the work of others like him, it wouldn't even have existed in the first place.
It was created by comic book fans, run by comic book fans, and played by comic books fans - and now a multinational corporation is going to shut it down because it no longer fits in with its business plan.

I think we should wait until we have a bit more info on any potential bid from another publisher - but if we get news of a definite bid, then I think that a support campaign for their bid would encourage them.

If you feel up to it, google some Rhode Island News sources and send in an email of your own. Publicity will help especially if NCsoft is seen in a bad light.
Make sure to point out that the game is still profitable, and that the reasons behind the closure are still unknown.

Others, like Zwill and Posi, are mourning the sudden loss of a job. Even though I want to hop a plane and beat some sense into someone, I find myself wanting to help Zwill, Posi and so many others, ease their pain at their sudden loss.
CoH is more than a game - that's why we're fighting so hard to save it.

With 95% of NCSoft's income coming from the Asian market, where CoH failed to make any kind of impact, I don't really think that that'd be an excuse that they could use.
  24. There's a rumor that within an hour of the closure statement, SOE and another un-named publisher both made offers for the game.

    Like I said, it's a rumor - but it's not that far-fetched.
