Short and sweet GG....this has been a subject that has been long simmering and your just adding fuel to the fire. Please for the love of Pete, don't take bits and pieces out of context to fuel your agenda. I beg you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's a valid point - cliques are corrosive and harmful, and become worse the longer they're left to fester.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
That smacks of a clique mentality to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well spotted

All cliques should be mocked or ignored - they add nothing to any forums at all.
  3. [ QUOTE ]

The only problem here, really, is that a very small number of people (as I see it) are trying to dictate what is acceptable to the vast majority of posters here. They do it in threads by trying to "correct" other people's behaviour, and when that doesn't work they run off and tattle because they aren't getting their own way. They are trying to nitpick and micro-manage to the point where no one is having any fun unless it is on their terms.

  4. [ QUOTE ]

Some people are taking themselves way too seriously

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why a little bubble-bursting humor can be a good thing

How do you notify a mod anyway? Do you send them a PM?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, it can stay unused, along with the ignore function.

Question -- is the double XP going to happen on the test server before they turn it on for the Live servers?

I bet there are more than a few people with Test Server only characters that would love that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do they ever have double XP on Test?
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Use this thread to discuss Positron's announcement of the coming Double XP weekend.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why did you have to edit Positron's post? Was he swearing?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Or perhaps Ex? He seems

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think Ex is a she

As far as solutions, I like the suggestion that the OP has some rights and responsibility to watch their thread take shape. I guess on the title system, as I was thinking about this on my commute, that the good old Chaotic, Neutral, Lawful system would probably be a decent metric.

    Ex.

Event: Friday 7 PM PST Be there! (Lawful)

    Silliness Abounds! (Chaotic)

What costume should I get for my Dom? (Neutral)

It's a suggestion that I think for this server could work.

    What are your thoughts?

    Ex

    [/ QUOTE ]

    First thought: silly beyond words.

    Second thought: unworkable.

Third thought: if something this stupid is being seriously considred, then some people aren't just being over-sensitive, they're on the verge of being mentally unstable.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I have read through most of this and it all seems a little silly to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You're very perceptive

I find it a shame that We as protector are going to be made fun of yet again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But that is all self-inflicted, because this bit...

    [ QUOTE ]
Show the forums what we are capable of as adults!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...needs a lot more work.
  13. That's been posted before - still amusing
  14. Cliques are there to be ignored, or laughed at, whichever you prefer - I hear there's a Clique Buster badge you can earn too
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    The problem has multiple roots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That doesn't explain why it's only the Protector forum that sees this hysterical reaction to what is normal for the rest of the server forums.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I find the new market/IO system is pushing me out of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then don't spend too much time on it - it is optional, remember?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
The black mark on I9 is the issues with exemplaring and IO sets - both the bug, and the "intended behavior" as described by Posi. I want to slot 50s and still benefit from my sets at 30.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that's the main drawback with I9 - I exemp a lot, and would like to be able to have even a bit of my bonuses left
  18. I don't think anyone really sets out to threadjack - it just happens.
With so many differnet posters with different ideas and tastes and so on, it's inevitable that the longer a thread goes on, the more likely it is to stray off topic from time to time.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The point isn't that some people need to toughen up. I DO NOT COME HERE TO BE TOUGH. I'm positive that numerous others are in a similar situation.

I come here to freaking get help from friends. I come here to have fun. I shouldn't have to be 'tough' to do that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Internet video game forum = a little bit of toughness required

It's only words - words on your computer screen.
No ones threatening you, no one's beating you up, no one's robbing you, no one's spray-painting witty queries about your sexual orientation in 15 foot aquamarine letters on on the glass-fronted entrance of the nearest downtown mall.

Just words on a computer screen...

I still see a pile of concerns though and no headway towards solutionville.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My solution is just to "Live and Let Live."

    [/ QUOTE ]

agreed. frankly the more this thread goes on, the more I boggle. Go read some of the server forums and come back.

This is entirely, utterly, inanely ridiculous. This whole 'crisis'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it is rather weird - I've been on quite a few message boards, and I've never seen anything quite like this before...

EDIT: Dammit, I missed the chance to make an "Infinite Crisis" joke
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Or, that we have a different standard than the other thread posters, and when something changes in that standard, we SEE it more clearly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Don't assume too much

    [ QUOTE ]
The flames that go on in other forum areas are much, much hotter than here. That says to me that we either: don't do it as much, or simply don't like seeing what little there is when it happens.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or the thrid option - toughen up a bit.
  22. Ok, let's try this from a sightly different angle - a mod has made a special thread here on the Protector forum, but not on any other server forums
What is the more logical answer for this - that all the evil, baby-eatin', kitten-kickin' meanies only ever post on the Protector froums, or that some people on the Protector forum see evil, baby-eatin', kitten-kickin' meanies where there aren't any?
  23. [ QUOTE ]
yeah, maybe a little but ya catch the over all drift

    [/ QUOTE ]

Drift? Surely not drift as in drifting off topic?
