One problem that i've noticed recurring (and just happened about 10 minutes ago yet again), is that when an individual decides to try act like top dog and starts smirking at everyone, swearing where he feels like it, and has a group of friends who although arent actually breaking any rules, are all lined up ready to mock you if you even respond to what the offender says.

It's mostly the squishies I was thinking of - it can't be much fun for them to be picked on and beaten up by packs of Villians wihtout getting anywhere near the 6,000 bounty mark for a new SO

If you're a startup SG I'd really recommend waiting for Issue Seven for creating a base.

A functional I7 base requires no energy or control - just a workshop, then the storage items and buff creator (which can process Salvage).

Villians play in teams too, you know - even Stalkers - it makes them very effective
But teaming in PvP does help the squishies stay alive longer, and lets them help others.

It was so bad after a while, when I stopped to attack a seemingly lonesome villain, I had FOUR [4] stalkers surrounding me in the AS position. Now it goes without saying that me being a blaster, only one or maybe if I got lucky, two of the stalkers actually got in their AS before I was dead.

I'm curious here - what were the rest of the heroes doing while the four Stalkers went for you? Had you teamed with any of the other heroes, or gone off solo, despite being outnumbered by the villains?

A common problem - all players should realize that PvP on your own is NOT fun - 'cos the enemy will always pick off lone opponents as it's so easy.
If you don't want to team, then at least stick close to others on your side, where you can help them, and they can help you.

With regards to the Social Commentary and IE...at first, for me, the page loaded with lots of pretty red X's, and not much else.

A random attempt to scroll up, with the mouse button held down, highlighted stuff. Including all the text between whatever the images are.

Black text on a black background, I think.

After reading a few posts in this section I get the impression that there's a marked difference between people who play the game and people who roleplay the game. I'm an old pen and paper rpger(D&D, Champions, Traveller, Runequest etc)so I know what roleplaying is, my questions are as follows:

1. Are there known roleplaying players?
2. If that's a yes, how do I join the crowd?
3. What's the basic or not so basic difference in gameplay?

I love the idea of playing the game in role(my characters would mean a lot more to me) but have seen only limited opportunities so far,

Invite them to team with you - say that because all Heroes hate the Stalkers and their ubah-l33t skillz, they will resort to cheating, so it's better for the Stalkers to have someone like you as back-up.
Then, return to your base, sit back, and watch your bounty score sky-rocket

This is the biggest problem in PvP - too many people look on it as a chest-beating-mine-is-bigger-than-yours-I'm gonna-take-on-the-lot-of-you-on-my-own kind of thing.

Teamwork is vital - it's the best way of introducing new players to PvP, especially if they're a little more squishy, and might get put off by the amount of times they die.
It's also the fairest way of sharing bounty (and a lot of players have no clue how bounty works, or what they can use it for), so that everyone who contributes to the team gets rewarded, so that even if you're going down a lot, you're still getting something out of the fight.

Thanks for the kind words SiX. It was one sided to the benefit of the villains at that point and as such I saw no reason to interfere with the heroes strugling to get out of the base. I like a challenge, I go for that very reason and for the fun PvP can spur.

I was hoping the villains would get bored with camping the base sooner then they did, so didn't make the switch to heroes for a while. Best thing to do when it's like that is either to try and stick it out or take a breather, I know that can sometimes be a drag if you're in that PvP mood (I sometimes get). Had you stuck around though you'd probably have enjoyed yourself a tad as heroes finally got the upper hand and I switched back just to get pwned.

The whole stalker deal drives me nutz as much as anyone. I do sometimes wish there'd be a bit more support for myself there but ya know, sometimes you do alright and others you just don't stand a chance

The 'bragging' etc. can become a bit over the top and does on several occations. Best to do is either ignore it or counter it with some light hearted banter. I get plenty of tells like "hahaha die" etc. when being defeated by 3 or more in a group. Usually I'll respond with a "Well that didn't go like I'd hoped heh" or "Heh well done" or something to that effect. Sometimes it works and you get a friendly comment back, which is always nice, other times they just keep at it but then I just ignore those tells and concentrate on the battles.

I'm rambling, so I'll leave with a thanks again for the kind words and hopefully you'll be coming to a PvP zone again soon

Damn, that'd be funny - it'd be like the "you must be at least security level x before you can enter this zone" window that comes up - imagine trying to enter Siren's Call only to get the message "You must respect other human beings before you enter this zone"
