That, and I laugh at myself, a LOT. So as long as it at least makes ME smile, I'm happy.

Nothing wrong with a little joking off now and then.

You obviously haven't ever played a defender without a heal in early teams. Its not very fun when everyone thanks the "healers" only.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I have. My main hero is a sonic/sonic defender, and plenty of people /dumbquit my teams because there was no healer. Usually, we did just fine anyway, but let's lay off the healer hate.
  5. I enjoy playing lower-level characters as well, because when characters' powers aren't fully developed, they're more likely to appreciate teammates' contributions.

[cynicism]Later, when everyone's in Awesome McGodpants mode, other characters are mostly useful to pad spawn counts.[/cynicism]
  6. Ooh. Hadn't thought of that, but 12:34.56 7/8/9 actually occurred twice, at a little after half-past midnight and noon. Thanks, Flea.
  7. It's 07/08/09, at least in locations that put the month first in dates.

    That is all. Carry on.
  8. One minor correction: pets are only in bodyguard mode if they're in defenseive follow/goto/stay AND within range of Supremacy (60') AND have line of sight to you. Usually, this isn't a problem.
  9. I'm coming from a defender perspective as well, but here are my thoughts.

    1. Sonic Siphon is potent enough as is, but I'd like to see its base accuracy increased to something like 1.2. It only does one thing and it has a longish recharge. Better make sure it hits.

    2. Sounds good. Interestingly, Disruption Field used to draw aggro to the caster, not the recipient. No fun.

    3. Nah. Too easy to use for griefing purposes.

    4. Psi +resistance would definitely be handy, as would reducing the recharge time on Liquefy.

Oh, btw, Sonic Repulsion surrounds an ally with the repel field, not you. Put it on a stalker for the lulz.
  10. Yeah, that's basically what I'd suspected. Still, I'm not used to encountering jibba-jabba while leaping tall buildings in a single bound.

It's a high rise building. Are they open to the air?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Parking structures.

Hmm. Maybe that's why I can see the chat text from people inside. The AE buildings are the Parking Lot of the Darned.

    Mistrust

I am an unabashed twinker of toons, and one way to give a new character a grubstake is to have an advanced one place an expensive piece of salvage or a crafted enhancement in SG base storage. The new toon then collects and sells the item at next log-in.

This may not be the most efficient method, but it's fairly risk-free, unless your SG is a bunch of thieves. (Which is why I only allow murderers in mine.)

    Bcause buildings have doors.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Gazebos don't.

Anway, what strikes me as weird about the AE buildings is that you can see the mob chatter text if you get close enough without entering the building. I don't know of other buildings that work that way.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Why not just require a play ticket. Each play ticket is earned by doing a non-radio mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think that's an interesting idea as well. Except for transportation and hospitals, all the other in-game services (tailor, stores, consignment houses, etc.) have fees of some kind. Why should going to the holodeck be free?

Unless, of course, Dr. Aeon and Crey Industries are launching some master plan to get everyone hooked on virtual reality so they can tend to their schemes unobstructed.

[EDIT]Hmm. That might be a funny story arc. On command from Aeon City and various Crey offices, all the AE buildings are sealed in a nigh-impervious force field combined with power dampening. Everyone inside is trapped, and Crey agents blockade the exterior to obstruct rescuers.[/EDIT]
  15. The standard attacks in Electrical Blast do drain endurance, just not that much.

The really weird thing is that the defender version doesn't have better END drain. Most other defender blasts have stronger secondary effects than the blaster versions.
  16. Nah, but perhaps you're one of those folks like Malaise or Infernal who's his own opposite.
  17. The emphasis on gadgets/gimmicks in the last battle of the new villain strike force got me thinking that this feature might become more common in CoX. Just for fun, here are some gimmick boss battles kludged from classic action and RPG console games that might be coming to a TF/SF near you soon!

    1. Boss Rush: Straight from Mega Man, the TF features a series of AV level opponents to defeat throughout the missions, and they all show up for individual rematches before the final battle. Bonus points for having you reach the rematch fights via teleport capsule.

    2. Neener-neener Boss: After dropping to 50% health, the main AV/Hero becomes untouchable and summons squads of EB level helpers to attack the players. The big-bad won't rejoin the fight until each player is at half health or lower. Oh, and there's a time limit on the fight, too.

    3. Don't Touch the Peons: The big boss summons low-level flunkies who con gray to the players and have weak attacks. However, each flunky can heal the boss for decent chunk of HP, and once they're defeated, the boss summons a new set. The trick is to leave [u]one[u] peon alive and beat down the big guy or gal.

    4. Sequential Boss: Dr. Godpants reveals his true form! Beating down the main enemy causes it to change into a more powerful version after "defeat." Bonus points if the big-bad's style of combat changes radically between forms. (Snaptooth does this already, but his attacks don't change much.)

    5. Surprise Boss: After defeating the main storyline enemy, another extremely powerful enemy shows up for no good reason. For example, after defeating the Freedom Phalanx in Lord Recluse's SF, Rularuu pops in and starts laying down the smack because the player characters were making too much darn noise.

    6. Variable Weakness Boss: The big-bad is only vulnerable to one type of damage at a time and switches that vulnerability occasionally. Note that the damage "type" could refer to standard CoX typed damage (smashing, fire, etc.), positional damage, or mez attacks. The Hamidon Mitochondria have defenses like this, but I don't think there are any situations in-game where they're all present on one critter.

    Enjoy!

    Elec/Elec/Elec

Electricity Control would be cool, and it would seem easy to assemble, given all the electric control type powers that are already in the game. They're just spread out among NPCs (Freaks, Mu), Electricity Manipulation and the Electrical Mastery and Mu Mastery pools.

What are your opinions on dropping Thunderous Blast for Charged Brawl?
I know what TB can do but I just don't care for the end drain and CB seems extremely powerful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

CB is powerful, and if you're planning on soloing mostly, you won't miss TB. However, you can mitigate the END crash by popping a blue and using Power Sink on any survivors.

    Elec/Elec/Elec

My current elec/elec blaster is 35, so I can't offer advice "from the top," but the melee attacks are what make it fun for me. They hit like trucks and can compensate for the primary lacking a heavy-hitting single-target blast outside the snipe.

Please be aware that END sapping won't become reliable until you have both Short Circuit and Power Sink, although SC actually does decent damage as well but with a long animation time.

Strategy-wise, my elec/elec usually plays hit-and-run, opening at range, closing to melee to finish one or two targets and kiting the rest.

    Have fun!
  22. Hmm. I guess for the forum avatar it would have to be Impervium_Imp_With_a_Goatee_That_Means_He's_Evil.

I toyed with a Praetorian version of my Sonic/Sonic defender as a Sonic/Sonic corruptor, but it felt too much like playing the same powersets over again. (Neurophon vs Battlesong, btw).
  23. Every issue is the first draft of the next one. Enjoy!
  24. My server would allow you to beat up contacts who gave you missions you didn't like.
  25. So do what any other upstanding super-powered citizen of Paragon City would do: blow them away. Maybe next time they'll make better criminal career choices and respawn as purse snatchers.
