    Arena Map: Caves

Hey all. I'm working on a little project and I was hoping for a quick answer to this - what caves are used in the Arena Cave map? Oranbega caves?

    Thanks!

This. Now I have to get something as epic! It's beautiful. And WB!
  3. I keep meaning to use this but never made the time. This is an awful big incentive!

That's something we can agree on for sure. I think any sequel or offshoot of this franchise needs to go global/stellar.

It's one thing I did enjoy about other hero games.

There would have to be both Heroes and Villain content.

Both sides would have to have at least level 1 - 50 content (if that is the leveling route they choose to go with again, though I would rather see the tree route now)

We would need a morality option from the beginning.

There would need to be an Ouro option.

There would have to be an AE option.

Feel free to add more if you all want.
I think yes for Hero and Villain content and perhaps 1-50 content but not the rest. It really depends on how they take the game. Heck, it may pure Hero this time. /shrug

I think that if you're right and they wanted to include all that then something else that would be that they launch with some sort of PvP system instead of trying to fit it in down the road (always a difficult task).

I don't know about all the badges (it WOULD be nice tho) but I definitely would want to somehow be able to keep the names. That's my biggest fear that I couldn't be quick enough to catch Goblin Queen or any of my other "mains" in a sequel. I know it's almost not fair for others who may want the same name but.. I had it first? Kinda?

Either that or do something like a few other games do and have names not be unique. That's a whole different can of worms though so I'm not really sure how I feel about all that.

I guess I'm the odd man out in that I'm thrilled at the prospect of this current team building a new CoH from the ground up, especially in regards to the design and art team we now have. I think we've reached the limit of what this engine can do, and at this point it's just holding the design team back.

Speaking as someone in the industry, I feel like City of Heroes 2 HAS to come out next year (Christmas 2012?) from a market standpoint--before the inevitable Superhero backlash comes.
You're definitely allowed your opinion. Mine is that this game can certainly last several years longer especially when you hold it up against the other hero games. I'm not impressed with what's out (I've tried them both) and what's planned to come out (it's a glorified console game).

Speaking as someone in the industry for almost a decade now, I don't think CoH2 HAS to come out next year and in fact I doubt it would even if they WERE working on it. I can't recall any major game that has announced and launched within 2 years of being announced. I could be mistaken, there's a ton out there, but I honestly can't think of one.

Don't get me wrong, I think a CoH2 would rock, since clearly I think the first one does, and I'd play the heck out of it but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about how it would affect the original. EQ and EQ II are an exception with GW and GW2 possibly being the next.

As far as pushing the limits of this particular game, we've seen some nice things recently with Ultra Mode and storytelling mechanics and systems. I'd not be surprised if we see more down the road. I certainly hope so!

Pointless speculating is pointless though. They're already working on something, that we know, and we'll find out eventually if it's CoH2 or another game. Either way I'm sure it'll be awesome and I'm sure CoH will remain viable for some time. I know I'll be playing.

Edit - and I'm with Arcanaville, I'd totally buy a lifetime even now. I swear that would have saved me some major cash over the last 7 years. :P

Ah yes! I sometimes have costumes that are of the same outfit but different glowing auras so I can have the constantly glowing eyes but when I know I'm going to be fighting a while I'll switch costumes to a combat aura so I have the glowing eyes AND the glowing hands.

It would be great if we had a second Combat Aura since we already have one.

    Aura (normal)
Combat Aura (no aura in normal stance, aura in combat stance)
Advanced Combat Aura(?) (aura in normal stance, different aura - in the same category - in combat stance)
  9. For me it's the customization, the modern setting and the wide open freedom granted in the comic hero genre. I can have my sword and sorcery and Steampunk and cyborg science fiction all in the same setting and they get along just fine.

Nothing else comes close to that genre and nothing else comes close to CoH implementing that genre.

This is my stance too. I would like to see all the cool things we want in a CoH2 implemented somehow in CoH. I hope they're working on some uber Steampunk or Call of Cthulhu (or both together in one game!) game as the other project. ;P
  11. YAY on the oil portion of the Clunker aura. That'll be so useful in so many ways!

And even more YAY on the potential for bugs and other non decal only Path aura possibilities!

I wonder, and I know this may be too much of a hit on particle effects on a character but would it be possible in the future to mismatch some Aura options? Perhaps combining some minor ones such as:

Glowing Eyes with Path Aura. That way one could have a fiery eye glow with flaming footprints.

I don't know how to limit all the combinations, especially to only the ones that may not be as big of a hit on the system. I imagine a fully glowing body with the glowing Path aura may be too much (although it certainly would look cool).

I guess it's not different than flying cogs and oil paths tho. So maybe whenever we get an elemental Path Aura or something that can fit in with a bunch of different categories, then those can be squeezed into existing sets.

The Fire Path Aura placed in Bioplasm, Fire, etc. categories.

The Ice Path Aura placed in Cyro and Snowflake categories.

Get more bang for the buck that way instead of having Path Auras on their own, if they were intended to get implemented that way.

    /ramble off
  12. I'm not sure if this is FX again or not but I'd like to be able to change the colors of our MM pets much like how we can our Controller and Dominator pets.

I would dearly love to have Green Demons that I can pretend are Goblins.
  13. I know the Epic Archetypes have been said that they may not get power customization but I would like to see perhaps a limited palette for them. I'd really love to have a bright color palette for Peacebringers and a dark color one for Warshades.

It would be great to be able to color the Psi attacks for Fortunatas as well.
  14. I think this qualifies as FX so here goes nothing.

I'd really love to see the Model Selection graphic (the bubbles and electricity effect) and the generic Hologram at the Architect Entertainment as costume pieces. It'd be awesome to wear other pieces (that don't have that effect like chest pieces, shoulders, etc.) over the base body pieces with the chemistry and hologram looking effects. They are simply awesome. Perhaps have them as auras if that works instead/in addition to.

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about both in comics and in game.

For reference for the Hologram request:

    And the Bubblies request:

    Color in titles?

I actually don't like it. ;P I couldn't match the color to the original color on my name and badge title. Or rather, I finally did with tinkering but the title doesn't change color when say.. you go AFK or whatever. So it just blings up there. I suppose it's a nice feature but for those who don't want to mess with it, it would be nice if you could opt not to have a color and the default system is used.
  17. Hi Tunnel Rat! Enjoyed your answering questions on Ustream the other day.

I have a whole bunch of ideas and requests but I'll keep it short(ish) for now. Hehe.

    1) I don't know if this qualifies as VFX art but I'd love to see the tech used for the Resistance Armor glowing bits to be implemented on an alternate set of chest emblems. That way we can get glowing Ankhs, Stars, Mystic symbols, etc.

    2) As above, the same tech would be great to use for certain patterns as well. Some examples: Tribal, Isles, Circuitry, Electricity, Lines and Magic. This would be for Chest, Legs, Arms, Feet and Face patterns. This way we can get glowing circuits on our armor, glowing tattoo patterns (Tribal and Isles), glowing magical runes, glowing Star Eyes, etc.

I imagine it would be an ongoing process since there are so many applicable patterns and chest emblems but maybe new ones can be added in each Issue. Menu wise they'd need to be subsets or extra options such as Mystic 1 and Mystic 1 Ultra Mode perhaps.

    3) With the new Path aura stuff we're getting in the Steampunk pack. I got to thinking it would be cool if we could add a Roaches Path Aura to the Flies Aura (renaming it Insects) where the aura would be the roaches already found in the sewer maps. Creepy effect of having insects milling about your feet when you stand still and following you around as you walk about.

    4) Can we get the Clunker aura coming with the Steampunk pack to have a setting where the oil trail is used on its own? No cogs floating around but just the oil trailing behind? That would allow recoloring (hopefully!) to have green slime, mud and the like behind a character.

    5) And lastly, this is a request I've been wanting a long, long time. I've been on the hunt for the perfect eye glow to use with hats and hoods for years now. The newer Sparks and Thunderhead auras are *almost* it! The reason why they are: the glow does not spread above the rim of the hat in or out of combat mode like almost all other new or old eye glows do (I checked). Of course the problem is they are very specific and either shoot sparks or shoot lightning bolts therefor they are of specific use/theme.

I'd really love to see a new Eye glow aura that behaves like Sparks and Thunderhead but without the bits that jump out of the eye area. Basically just a pulsing glow.

The pictures below show how Fireflies and every other eye glow besides Sparks and Thunderhead behave. The glow color is set to one of the brightest settings available to illustrate how the two lower eye glows don't bleed through the hat rim even at that setting. I timed the screenshots to not show the sparks or electricity but they of course activate every couple seconds or so normally.

  18. Keep some stuff. Just in case!

Sad to see fellow Vets go but the reasons are sound. Good luck with everything!
  19. I'll be around quite a bit this coming week and weekend so anyone can hit me up at @Goblin Queen for a chat about your character if interested in joining!
  20. I'm also leveling a concept character for the SG on red side to level 20 so I can get them over to Vigilante status (hello tedious!).

/friend Spring Heeled Jack and we can level up together if we're both on at the same time!

Content known to be included is a Clunker Aura, a new Steam Jump (Ninja Run Equivalent?) power, steam powered back pack, a new steampunk set of wings, a Victorian Aura, new emotes which we havn't seen yet, new face technology, and lots and lots of buckles.

((this proves once again, as goes Virtue, so goes the game jk everyone ))
Yup! So excited about it. We've been talking about it! So many characters of mine will be getting a makeover.

I think it'll get a lot of use for non Steampunkers. I have probably a handful of Victorian/Steam characters but I see a lot of these pieces being really useful for most of my other characters (one being a Mender). I see a lot of neat uses out of the clothing bits and armor pieces.
