Was re-reading some brute regen threads because I had a crazy idea for a new toon. I am so glad I found this thread. Thank you OP for reminding me that the powerset formerly known as regen was murdered. I know exactly what the poster above me (on phone, can't remember name, sorry) is talking about. I just can't bear to play a self-empathy toon anymore. Hell I advocated for a name change by comparing all of the powers from Empathy and Self Empathy once and was nearly murdered!

It's not a must but does help as a backup to your HP management. With enough recharge most of your tools will always be there for your disposal. -

Focused Burst is also AoE and, with slotting, up plenty enough, at least for me on my KM/SD Scrapper. Admittedly I have Shield Charge and Spring Attack too so AE is plenty covered. And that without the knockback power, which I skipped.
If you're wanting to feign non-weapon, hands on beat down, KM does the job. If you want AE you may have to agument via your secondary or pool powers but you can do so.
Oh yeah, and the sounds. -
I find it interesting that Regen is one of the most frequently mentioned sets on here. Same with EM. They used to be awesome sets, nut since there "changes" they lost alot of popularity.

It's most likely because that EM is the least chosen set available to melee toons.

I know absolutely nothing about soloing with corr's.
That's mostly cause after 7 years in this game, the highest I've been able to get a non melee toon is to 27, and that was a blaster.
I do know that if a guy named Silas says something about it, he is to be listened to. Nearly drowned me one night by tying some dps calculations around a brick and throwing it in the river. -
I've been playing CoX nearly since release. Before I-1, before capes. Yeat I have never RP'ed. Not even in other RPG's. I just did the missions, or quests, or killed the boss at the end of the map.
Well, now I am interested in it. So, what do I do? How do I start? Is there anyone willing to help a new PR'er? -

You might lose the added run speed of the Ninja Run power, but when using the animation with SJ, you'd still run like you're using NR or BR, while jumping in the air with the flips like NR/BR.
The same goes with SS, but instead you'd have the faster run speed, but lose out on the jumping distance.
I'd pick up SJ on my main if I could go that route with it. As it is now, I rely on just NR, as while the waiting stance I don't think fits her, the run and flipping fit her nicely Love jumping between and on top of buildings with NR!
But otherwise, I completely agree. -
Hopefully it will be done the same time that Scrappers and Brutes get Ninjitsu.

1. As I am learning, melee isn't really worth a toot in PvP.
2. If you are going to melee, use Super Strength, or a regen scrapper. -

My kryptonian build actually is a Human form PB using only melee attacks with the exception of eye beams. The right pools, sets, and a full team of cosmic balance buffs, and you can feel very superman like. And thier one biggest gap once upon a time in human form of lacing solid mez pro is easily removed with clarion incarnate now.
Though maybe an SS/Regen brute with the right pools and incarnate is more superman when you think about just how undying he really is meant to be.
Last night I decided to roll up a PB for the first time since they released. Doing Posi TF with no enhancements, I had 85% res to s/l and when I used inner light I was at the Kheld damage cap. I now have a new project. Ah well, who needs sleep anyway? -

How about more than one pattern? Like Statesmans costume? He has the Stars and the stripe pattern?
And three colors instead of two?

Sorry it took so long to respond, I have murderous work hours though, and cant get on the forums on a government computer.
Zone PvP is where I am wanting to play.
So am I understanding that to do well with a melee toon, let's say in RV, I would either need to be a tank, a stalker, or a regen scrapper?

I cant stand ranged toons though.
Excluding KM, what would be a good non stalker melee toon for a beginner to try? -
If I have a toon that has 59% Def, how bad is DR gonna smack that down?

I am finishing up my Fm/Inv brute, and debating what to roll next.
I'd like a toon that I can solo with since I work nights, and it can be a little difficult sometimes to get a team. I will team however for TF's and such on my days off.
It has been a long time since I have played a /Wp toon, and I have actually never gotten a shield toon past, 18 I think.
Any recommendations are appreciated. -
