  1. Well, guess I need to make a sword and board toon myself. Durned altitis.
  2. Thanks for all the replies folks. We decided to roll fire.dark corruptors, working on our costumes and backstories now. Thx for the input.
  3. I was thinking kat/sr scrapper, wm/elec brute, or a stalker.

Does she want to go fast and loose, or methodical and paced?

Because Blasters, Controllers, Defenders, Scrappers, Stalkers, Khelds, Corruptors, Doms, Widows, Spiders and Masterminds could all qualify. Heck even an off tank/brute would too, like a fire/fire tank or brute.

What does she want out of her experience playing the game?
She got a scrapper up to th 40's, but then quit playing. She doesn't like to go to fast. She's not really a gamer, just wanting to play to spend more time with me. I think she made a few low level corruptors and enjoyed them, but that's the extent of her time on CoX.

Probably a simple corr would work for her. I have no idea about Corrs though, as all I have played are melee.
  5. So, finally got my wife to agree on playing CoX again. Her only criteria is she doesn't want to have to be the one who runs in first. Easy enough for me. I've been playing since about a month after release and all I've managed to play are Scrappers and Brutes. I think I have a tank at 34.
I like sealing AoE damage, and I have a scrapper and a brute built specifically to solo AV's.

With this in mind, I ask, what would be a solid duo set.
We would occasionally team with others, mostly for TF's.

I solo'ed it. I had to use envenomed dagger though.

    Must see.
  9. That looks awesome. Will be a huge benefit to me in my new job as a nurse in a predominantly spanish speaking community.
  10. That was cool. It hurt my head, but it was cool.
  11. Ghouls. I love the ghouls. Can't explain it really, but I get giggly when I fight them.
  12. Looks like it will be a summer release. Cliff notes include The Rock and Vin Diesel in the same movie. Looking forward to this one.

    Wm/Da Questions

So, I decided to roll a toon I've he'd a concept for in my he quite awhile now. I have a few questions though.

First off, what powers are skippable? For instance, CoF and OG don't really fit my concept, but would I be gimping myself by not taking them? And what about the stealth power? I'll probably pick it up for the LotG global.

As far as WM, I think I want them all! Nearly every attack in the set is superior or extreme damage. No doubt abot it, I want whirling mace!

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    P.S.
I wouldn't be upset if anyone posted a sample build.

    I have soloed AV's on a Dm/Wp brute at 2x, SO's, not I/O's. I did use insps though.

Remember that i19 is brand new; people will obviously want to play the heck out of it before burning out on LGTFs and ITFs, haha.
I know, I know. I can still be disappointed about it though. And that was after asking in the badge channel.

    Concept Question

Thanks Ideon. I had no idea about that. Just came up with it, good to know that it's actually in the lore though. Makes it easier to tie it into the story.

I am already up to 23, and have had 2 compliments on my costume. Hardest thing so far is trying to get a Posi tf together. Everyone just wants to do the high level ones for the shards.
  18. From what I remember, confront isn't an AoE effect, but single target. So, I doubt it would help much with teh scatter.
  19. Anybody else realize how easy they were after the first one and just herd them all together?

    It was fun.
  20. Here's a question, which would be best for /SR? It's for my main brute, a ss/sr, and I honestly have no clue what to pick.

While energy aura could work as a "Tk effect" it also has powers that are pretty outside of the range of the concept.

    • Endurance Drain and Self Heal
    • Stealth

Overload will also make you look like a star going nova.

A TK field is a totally acceptable explanation for being 'Invulnerable' (the powerset).

Example: Your telekinetic powers greatly protect you from physical, particularly smashing and lethal, attacks as if your skin were made of steel.

Invuln is also a much, MUCH, better designed set and will actually allow you to play within the concept - i.e being extremely hard to kill.

Energy Aura on the other hand, when you get hit - you will get hit really hard and then be forced to recoup using a pretty lack luster self heal.

SS/Invuln/Energy is not only a thematic and conceptual fit, it is also a very solid and high performing combination.

You absolutely want Superior Conditioning & Physical Perfection.

Laser Beam Eyes is good for concept and set muling.
I think I've made my choice. Going with SS/INV. I thank you all for your opinions, and explanations of why you would choose certain sets.

Here's the back story, if interested. Like I said, an homage, added in some things to tie him to Paragon and Praetoria.

Neuron and Anti-Matter were always trying to outdo each other, to show Emporer Cole which one of them was the better genius, the more ambitious, the best to serve him. Cole allowed this to take place, knowing that the two would each come up with things to better his Utopian Society. One such invention was the Clockwork. Neuron decided to go a stage above this, and use genetic manipulation to create Super Soldiers to serve his master. Of course, they were a failure, and now the Ghouls run rampant in the Underground. Anti-Matter heard of this and decided to one up his companion. He cloned Cole. His plan was to present this life form, that he had mind wiped, to Cole. A way to ensure his immortality. If anything ever happened to him, his mind could be put into an exact copy of his body, de-aged of course. While preperations were being made for Emporer Coles visit to the lab, there was an attack by the resistance. They took the clone, and were able to put the mind of a Soldier that had been put into a coma in the body. Now, he fights to right the wrongs of the Tyrant, to retake his world, and maybe help save ours in the process.

Did my post really strike a nerve that you'd feel an unquenchable need to flame me all to hell? Just by going off my experiences with a pretty well off character, I said I couldn't see how you could solo an AV without temps/inspirations considering their damage rate and regen rate.

If anyone here is a jackass trying to ruin a positive topic, it's you.

But hey, from the looks of it, people can't seem to stand it when people don't look to them as godly beings who are the end all be all. I can see that now, since me saying "I can't see how you can" brought up such a violent backlash from everyone on these forums.

If anything, it could have been a chance to tell me how it works. What builds can do it, etc. But nah, flaming and screaming TROLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is soooo much easier, right?

BRB, going to find my screenshots of me soloing Neuron, and praetorian Mynx and Posi. Can't remember there names right now. Oh, and my lvl 27 brute that was solo'ing heroes on SO's. All of which were with no temps, no insps. Apparently, my lvl 27 soloing did include insps. My bad.

    Sometimes they get lucky.

Can't find the other one's right now. I'll keep looking.
