So I cannot get passed the login screen. I get the standard game client unable to connect to the login server etc. I'm getting the same error on both machines - no changes overnight to either machine. I have restarted router and all that jazz. I CAN connect to the beta server just fine.
I've contacted support but if anyone had a suggestion...?

Anyone got a running total on extra downtime in the past 30 days? I'm willing to bet it's more than 24 hours by now.

Alrighty this Friday night is Keyes** night on Onion. Trials will be running in PD from 7pm (BST) and there'll be a mixture of full 24 toon runs and hopefully some badge runs along the way too.
We have an Empath and an AM Tank who can cover a couple of runs to get us going but.... we will need some others to step up here too. Tanking and healing on Keyes isn't the easiest job in the world and it's not fair to have the same people doing it all the time. Hopefully some of our MO run regulars will step up here!
Toons; Single target healers are always welcome, in particular on badge runs, and strong Tanks that know Keyes and can keep AM on a tight leash are most welcome. A Kin for our AM tank would be most appreciated. Other than that, for the 24 runs, bring any 50 you like. If your debt/defeat badges need some work, well we can certainly help with that!
New folks to Keyes most welcome, there will be walls of text* as needed and hopefully we can do 3 or 4 full non badge runs to get everyone a good idea of how it goes before the hard badge runs get going.
Full on MO runs are done with 12 toon teams and there's even more text in the wall of texts for them. We can, as needed, just do green runs or AAM runs. If you need a specific badge to get your set just let me know and we'll try and get a run going for that (pretty sure there'll be at least 1 AAM run and 1 green only run).
*note to self; prep walls of text.
**Keyes AND CoP night. Sorry I knew I had forgot something. CoP runs go out Friday night so we'll take break to let anyone who wants CoP to get in on that with Tsu & co! -
Any particular reason you didn't let us know about the downtime for this?

I assume it's to turn off DXP but, yet again, it is some awful communication (or lack there of) from the dev/community side.
There were red texts in game, 2 hour 'daily maintenance' window.

It went live as soon as the servers came back up. The lowbie teams have been flowing over on Onion and the Posi/BoB's are going strong too!

Lots of demand last night while the Blue CoP was going on. So tonight over on Onion there'll be a Redside CoP at 8pm!
10 spots booked so far, base and teams 95% sorted so we'll get going pretty soon after 8!*
Send me a tell in game - @davejb to book your spot or just show up in PD shortly before 8 and we'll get going. If there's enough demand, there'll be a second run.
Hope to see lots of ye later.
*We have 3 bases that can do it and two definite leaders across them with another 2 maybes. So if anyone has a 50 that they don't mind popping into a VG for the runs then we are 100% certain. It WILL go ahead, if absolutely needs be, we'll dual box a third leader in my own SG.

Having just checked, your answer seems ever so slightly disingenuous. Steam brings the old CoH Launcher straight up. Care to clarify or to point me to a faq on how I can get the NC Soft Launcher and Steam to play nice please?

I switched to the new Launcher sometime ago and all Steam interaction stopped. I fire the CoH client up outside of Steam and so my Steam friends list etc no longer works with CoH.
I'll go back and give it a whirl this evening tho and see... -

Why the Stamina slotting? End Mod, Proc and IO should do you just fine. You'll have no choice but to go Cardiac anyway so end issues will improve a lot once you get that slotted.

Does the beta server really need over a 4gb download?

I'll say this for the upgraded servers, it's not as bad as it was on Union or Virtue. It's still unplayable but I can type in the chat window this time.
The server may now be able to hold more people but it can't handle those people and an event. -

Now okay, this may be better now with most folks use to the trials but even during Brimmy's runs yesterday when we were pulling to the tennis courts, people were off fighting the AVs at their spawn or engaging before the AVs were in place.
Another simple answer, and again this may have been more when the trials were new, it caused a headache for me. Having each team in one spot makes it much easier for me as a league leader to know where they are, if one AV is miles ahead of the other then I can look at the team list and quickly see that maybe NS has a blaster that I can just pull over to Siege for some catchup damage. Sending that tell to then remember they are on adds or they have decided to go to adds means that not only have I not reduced the damage on the speedy NS but I've perhaps left the adds too low.
So I balance the teams beforehand and try to always ask who needs ixp and make sure they get onto the adds team (or rotate that team around if there are too many). Doesn't always work out, I know I have left people who need iXP out more than they would have liked at the time but I'm always clear beforehand that it's a MO Run and I'll be pasting my wall of text in for new people. -
Gotta say having just done two, my iXP was terrible like this. 9% first run, 13% second run. That'll mean about 10 runs to get my judgement unlocked - on the previous tactics it was 5 runs to get it all done. That was with a balance of being on adds and not being on adds. As there's no-one on the adds this time, there's a lot less ixp going around.
So I'll stick to the old style full on MO runs (every run should be!). This is notably faster so some points there for sure but...
The other disadvantage to add to your list is only 1 Empy every 20 hours for the standard run, the second comes with the MO run.
Also, having just a brief look at the teams in the League, there were a good chunk of names that I'm pretty sure didn't need the iXP so in an adds team situation then they aren't missing out on that.
Finally though it is very nice to see Bafs running again. They seemed to be slacking off. So hopefully this keeps going and maybe we can get a balance of TC and Mo runs going often enough -
Significantly worse than Union from the getgo. No letup in lag at all. The events don't appear to being spread out anything like as much as they were, there don't seem to be more zone instances.
And Leagues are... or perhaps to be fair the people in them... are USELESS. Not being able to change people around when everyone runs off to different zones ugh ugh ugh.
ETA: Unplayable. Left just after 1. Last one I'll be trying out. -
Is this meant to be the new server?
Cause if it is Freedom's test has not got a chance in hell. 100 people in AP on Union and it's pretty much fallen over.
ETA: Okay distinct improvement after more zones were created. AP2 is, at least, going reasonably well now.
