  1. Is no one playing this combo? I'd really like some feedback from someone playing it. I do appreciate the link to the axe stuff but it's really old and dated. So far I am looking at taking everything from elec except maybe grounded and power surge. And from axe I am planning to skip chop and build up. Is this a wise move?

    thanks,

  2. Hey everyone,

I just rolled up a new tanker that so far seems like it will have some great synergy. I picked electric armor and paired it with battle axe. My reasoning is the kd will help let me juggle some foes while waiting for heal to come back up and the end discount + power sink will let me keep swinging away. Got him up to lvl 6 so far and like the feel of the sets.

Now the problem is that I dont have any experience with either set so any guidance would be appreciated. Some of the questions i have are:

Which powers if any are skippable?
    Which are must haves?
Should I focus on + recharge, defence, or a little of each?
Tough seems mandatory, but what about weave?
Will power sink + energize allow me to go without stamina?
    grounded vs CJ or both?

Also if you have builds to share I'd love to see them.

    Thanks,

    Gitch

    Rad def or corr

Thank you very much for replies.

mostly I was concerned about survivability factor on the corrupter with the debuffs being weaker. I remember have a low level rad defender a few years ago that could hang out in his clouds and not die as long as he had endurance. It still sounds like you all are leaning for the corr version so I'll probably roll him up that way.

    Rad def or corr

    Hi,

I have a great concept and name for a radiation toon. I tried the new blaster version when it came out but didn't like the feel of it. I know that I want to go rad/rad but very unsure of going with the defender or corrupter version. I have never played a corrupter before so have no idea what the inherent really feels like or how their damage makes up for weaker buffs. I know that on my Ill/Rad that the rad still feels pretty good as far as power goes. Please weigh in and let me know how the 2 compare and which makes a better well rounded toon.

    thanks,

    Gitch
  5. My 2 inf..

Khelds need to have great binds to work well. I started up 2 pb's and a ws and deleted them cause I couldnt make them dance very well. This led to it being a major drag to play them and caused their delete. Then a sg member gave me his binds and now I have a ws who is the ultimate tank mage. No other toon in the game can self max resistance and dmg. Not to mention self heal, rez and have pets. I highly recomend getting some great binds to help you out before saying they fail. For instance i have 1 button for each form that will shift my trays around bringing up the forms powers. In addition human form also toggles on his shields. I am still working out a budget to purple him out, he is that much fun.

    good luck to ya,

The post was primarily about balancing stone armor outside of granite. So that the set doesnt seem like 31 lvls of meh followed by granite for the rest of the game. Some options included getting rid of the speed penalty in rooted and a mild boost in def/resist numbers pre granite. No one on that thread felt that granite needed any buffs at all but that some survivablity/QoL issues pre 32 needed to be addressed.

This is my first try at a stone tanker and after the i16 addition of crystal armors in the costume options I really enjoy him. His QoL laggs far behind almost any toon I have ever rolled up however without getting a whole lot in return. He is only lvl 28 atm so I cant speak to the greatness of granite yet, but honestly all my other tankers (except maybe fire) were more durable than stone is pre tier 9.

I am sure that my biggest gripe is Rooted. I really believe that if the run and jump penalties were either reduced or eliminated then the set would be just that more enjoyable to play. It also gives player options on their travel powers wich I think is always a good choice. Granite seems well balanced for what it does vs. the penalties it brings which is fantastic because it makes the player decide whats more important and it feels different than every other set. But it doesnt seem fair to penalize the player so severly for running their mez toggle which is absolutely needed for all tankers to function. No other set gets hit hard in this area.

I know that invul use to have a similar issue in unyielding but that it was fixed so that it no longer rooted the player. Isn't time to update rooted to be relatively equal to all the other mez toggles? I am not calling for a massive buff just a real QoL issue to be fixed.

    Thanks for the replies,

    Gitch

    slow resistance

Thanks for the replies, I guess this means that I will continue to look for +run io's and skip the slow resist. What really sucks is that I was hoping to avoid getting tp but it looks like i'll end up there eventually. Someone wrote a great post on the beta forum about changes to the stone tanker set that proposed a lessening of the speed penalties. I really hope some dev takes it up soon because I am enjoying this toon other than the severe lack of combat mobility.

    slow resistance

Does anyone know if slow resist set bonuses or the winter gift slow unique will help a stone tanker overcome the -runspeed in rooted and granite? If it does I might get more bang for the slots than trying to slot +run io's.

    thanks,

    Flight speed

If I remeber correctly, flight speed is dependent on your level. ie.. flight at level 1 is much slower than flight at lvl 50 even with comparable slotting. this may result in a lower cap for you than your friends

As a matter of fact I played the game all weekend and did not specifically farm (as this would sort of imply that I was merely trying to gain items or inf). I did use AE content to level up 4 of my toons from the low 40s to 50 because they had been languishing for a few years.

Now, you accuse me of being ebil and jacking up the prices but I am going to tell you that you are dead wrong. The prices of items is directly related to supply and demand as dictated in the simple rules of economics. 2xp has the direct impact on the game by providing double the income from playing the game while leaving the supply of items the same. Couple this with a mass increase in player population and you automatically create the perfect storm for inflation. It is not my fault that you failed to have the foresight to capitalize on what was destined to happen. Also if it had not been for me then the 40+ people who really wanted to buy the DW heal/rechg all weekend would have just been SOL because I was maybe the only one who had any in stock.

As to your 4 billion gain over the weekend on the pvp io's, all I have to say is Gratz to you on your gain.

Hydro I have to disagree with you a bit here. The MA content teaches you only how to run mishs, farms or not. It does nothing to inform a new player about the game world around them. And no matter how great MA content CAN be it is nothing compared to the awe at seeing the splendor of the different city zones. Conversly the standard content does prepare the characters to better handle and explore the world around them. The contacts are constantly teaching you the history and mechanics of the game world. They force you to figure out travel powers and aggro ranges etc.. Like when we all first had to go to the hollows and wonder how on earth we could live to get to the otherside to run our mish.

Running MA content only deprives new people from learning about IO's, granting access to Ouro and Cimerora, earning capes and auras, navigating the world, Task Forces and a chance to test there toons against balanced spawns to name just a few.

People most often choose to go with the flow of least resistance and like to do what everyone else is doing. In other words people grow up by imitating the others around them. Now if you are brand new to the game and you log into AP what are you surrounded by? MA farm teams spamming for members and people looking to PL is what. Now you can say that this existed pre MA in PI with all the demon farming etc., but I didnt even find PI for the first year I played cause I never had a reason to go there (I was very alt-aholic back then). Even then the mechanics of sk'ing came into play and you had to have someone willing to pl and a bridge. All these "safeties" are removed in MA so once again people will go with the path of least resistance and do what everyone else is doing to lvl their toons.

If you dont agree with my methods for "locking MA content" out of hands of low level toons. What if instead MA was unlockable at lvl 50 like the epic AT's. That way you are "forced" to play regular content at least once, and then if you want to live in the AE building for the rest of your gaming experience you can.

  12. I have mentioned this many times to in game friends so I'll just go on public record and post my opinion here. I really believe that there should be either a minimum lvl requirement or a vet badge limit to access AE. Now I dont think that the idea of it opening AE at say the 6th month badge or so is bad but it may be counter to the marketing strategy in current use. So that leaves us with the min lvl idea. This makes alot of sense and has in game precident. You cant get to Ouro til 25, RWZ at 35 and then you have all the hazard zones as well.

If you had to be a minimum of lvl 25 to access AE content there would be plenty of opportunity to learn what the game has to teach you such as which powers work, how to enhance and basic tactics. It also provides the new commers a better experience than just sitting in a building 100 yrds from where they entered the game. Now if you want to PL your toon from 25-50 I wont make an arguement against that because at least at that point its more of an informed decision since you will be aware of the other options out there. And as an added bonus you will know where the train is.

  13. Thanks Space Goat. Im kinda supprised I only got one feedback on my experience.
  14. I made 3.9 billion in profit with 1 billion invested prior to 2xp. So I am now sitting with 4.9 billion total. It was a nice weekend. If you want to see what I did you can read my thread about it.

  15. Hello all,

I have been reading this forum for several months but have never posted here. I love the advice you guys give and have tried it out in small scale and been mostly successful in making reliable money in the market. About 2-3 weeks ago it dawned on me that 2xp was coming up and that meant a huge opportunity to make alot of influence, so I decided I would give it a go full speed ahead.

Disclaimer: This post is in no way meant to brag, I am merely very excited with my results and want to share.

    THE RAMP UP:

About a week prior to 2xp I started to amass an inventory by putting in as many bids as I could get my hands on. I had about 1 billion in starting cash spread out all over my toons and I invested it all except some cash left over for listing fee's and such. I managed to fill 2.5 bins worth of IO's and max out a few characters in recipies. Up to this point I had only ever invested in 1-2 niches at a time, but I knew that I would have to greatly diversify in order to keep supplies low and prices up during the sell phase. In other words I was affraid of buying too much of one thing and getting stuck holding stuff I couldn't sell. My basic strategy for what I invested in was by asking "what would I want to outfit my characters with?" and for the most part it went well.

Mistakes: Because I was really diversifing for the first time I didn't have a great grasp of many of the niches. This caused me to be over reliant on the last 5 listing which we all know can just be dead wrong. At the time that I chose to jump into LoTG def/end the listing was 10-18mil so I was excited about the 8mil spread and invested in 20 or so at 10mil only to watch the price drop to 5-8 mil 2 days later with 80 for sale. This did not turn around for a long time so I had to hold and pray for a market reversal which made me nervous the whole time.

Successes: One niche that I was fairly comfortable with was the DW heal and heal/rchg IO's. I bought about 30-40 of each for 1-2 mil which was the going rate at the time. I crafted half and held the other half as recipies.

    DURING 2XP:

My main focus during the weekend was to finish 4 of my toons that were languishing in the low 40's and getting them to 50. In between AE runs ( I know, I am not proud but I had to do what I had to do)I would check in on some of my niches to see what direction they were going. If prices were going up I listed a few of my IO's for sale. I did this primarily from fear of having too much inventory and not being able to move it at the higher prices the weekend would demand.

Mistakes:I did not calculate on the increased supply generated in a few select niches that I had invested in. Some of the recipies that I was counting on to generate big profits suddenly were going for less than I had bought them for. Another case of heartburn for me.

Successes: Remember those DW IO's I stocked up on? Well they were at almost 0 for sale all weekend so I made a really nice return of about 10-15 mil a piece.

AFTERMATH: I got all 4 heroes to lvl 50 and added a few to 2 villains so I was very pleased with accomplishing that. I knew that I was not going to be able to log in and manage my inventory over the next few days due to real life commitments so I filled every slot I had with stuff for sale on sunday night and again on monday morning. I did not log in again until thursday am.

Mistakes: Because I had no time to manage the sales after the weekend, I was forced to pick a good sale price and hope I was right. In alot of cases I just noted the trend in the last 5 listing and placed mine slightly ahead of the trend. In a few cases this resulted in no sales and in others this resulted in sales with significantly less profit than was possible.

Successes: My goal when I started this project was to double my money. I have seen the screen shots of people who reached the inf cap and I thought that would be a good goal for me as well. Well, I didnt even come close in my estimate. This morning when I tallied up all my cash I was at 4.9 BILLION! Or 3.9 Billion in pure profit. Wow was I shocked when I saw that. In fact I was so damn excited that I just had to tell someone and, well now you know.

Thank you all for letting me share my experience,

    Gitch

    Locking up

As for the resolution suggestion. I have usually played the game at 1300x768 and only recently made the move to the 1900x1080 res, thinking that maybe it would help since it is the native res for the desktop. neither has helped with the crashes. The window suggestion is one thing I haven't tried yet, so it'll go on my list of things to do next.

    Locking up

the drive space is a bit misleading as I had just restored my system files and for some reason the whole thing made a duplicate of itself. it is normally not that full and I just deleted the extra file which freed up over 100 gb worth of room. The drive was only that full for less than 2 days so Im not inclined to think that it is the problem, but when I first saw that post I immediatly went in search of why it was showing as full to fix it.

    Locking up

    Hello,

for the last 2 issues I have been having computer freezing lock ups that require a hard reboot of system to get it to respond. I read some of the other suggestions on this forum and ended up with a reinstall of vista and an update of sp1 and sp2. I was really hopefull that this would be the fix I needed. I am still having the lockups but they are a bit less frequent, maybe 1 an hour now. When it happens I usually get some sort of soundloop ticking and the screen freezes. Nothing short of a hard reset will get the comp to respond. Please help me.

    thanks
