Dude. I've heard about what they do to students in the Faculty. You must think I'm mental
-
Not to mention having to paint yourself black every damn day. Not for me.
No, I'm still having fun with my lot. Well, I am if my lot are turning up this year. Lot of ructions. -

He's actually lifted out of the Forgotten Realms setting. He's basically a Deep Imaskari, and they're very swanky mage types with grey skin (that's the other reason for the heavy clothes, reduces skin area to paint). The description in Underdark actually specifies ornate great coats.
Seen the new rules yet, Gid? I'll be able to blow your hat off at ten paces.
[/ QUOTE ]
hehe. the other other reason for the heavy clothes is it can get VERY cold at night.
and yes, I've seen 'em. Still working out how cool I can get my character -
As opposed to me. Who walks around in the scrattiest grey jumper and daftest hat in creation, and destroys undead.
-
Ah, but wooden stakes apparently work against Slobodan Milosovic.
Since he hasn't risen as a vampire yet, we assume. -
On the other hand, the idea of Dark Stone smiling at his mother completely breaks my suspension of disbelief.
That said, the smiley point is valid. Feel free to extend this to leetspeak (unless under very controlled conditions) -
Of course, every time I see the phrase "Criminal Record" i keep thinking about James Blunt.

(making it more 'pure' artwork?

This is Ellie and Grav we're talking about. Pure? Riiiight -
Nah, it's entirely possible shadowe keeps most of his mass somewhere else, linked through hyperspace.
*geekery* -
I'll add bits and bats here and there, not necessarily on every single point, just to throw bits in.
Elven Magic: In most fantasy settings, (including Mr Paolini's ripoff) elves are better at magic because of A) a supposed "innate connnection" which gives them a better understanding of it and B) insanely long lifespans, the better to learn and practise more than anyone else could.
For example, Ed Greenwood made most of his uber mages (including his author avatar, Elminster) pretty much stop aging after a certain point, call it favour of the gods or something, so they'd have time to become harder than everyone else.
I think the point I'm trying to make is this thing about will and imagination. Regardless of the actual source of magic power, it takes these things to make it work. Is a human, with access to the level of raw power of a god, going to be able to use it to do godlike things? Can their will, their ingenuity, their mind and perceptions, see and understand enough of the Cosmic All (TM) to be able to apply that power in any kind of useful fashion (or maybe even understand that they can reach that level.) If you accept that magic is limited by the capacity of its wielder, then most wielders are people of human-level ingenuity and power. I suppose an analogy is of a man who lives next to a power station. He may live next to all of that power, but can he tap it directly to power his toaster? -

I have a toon with the Natural Origin. She's a kat/SR Scrapper. Dodging bullets isn't realistic for a normal human in the real world, but it is for a highly trained human in a comic. Her travel power is Superjump, because I can rationalise it as a swingline system. I could have picked Superspeed, but only OC. She has this huge Harley she drives around on and I could rationalise long distance travel as riding the Harley.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a bullet-dodging natural toon too (oddly, my Kat/SR as well.) Her speed and agility are mostly born of athleticism, as I set her up as a one-time All-Paragon Parkeur Champion, which means she can jump buildings, to a degree (fast climbing, rooftop runs, kind of thing.) The main thing that pushes her reactions into supernatural is just a touch of uncontrolled precognition (Not enough to need to be having visions of the future, so avoiding that insanity and game-breakingness) but just enough to combine it with training akin to the defensive aspects of Gun Kata, to mean that she dodges bullets by more or less not being where a bullet is going to be at any given moment, and that when she's fighting, she's always in the right place at the right time. Doesn't always work (she's not that brilliant at it yet) but it's at least entertaining.
And that's the nearest I'll ever get to any of my characters being able to predict the future. -
Sara is just pretty much indestructible by most means. She's just about my worst (active) foray into goddage.
One thing I must say though. I don't think most are setting out to make characters that are uber, we just start out with ideas that are along the lines of "wouldn't it be nifty if...?" or "I wonder what would happen if...?" and get carried away, largely because there's nothing except common sense and rp consensus to tell us we can't. Less malice, more freeform lunacy. -
Getting in on the act: Update Time.
Global:@Gideon
Server:Union.
Both Sides.
Heroes
Sara Aegis: Indestructable woman, Guardian of Destiny, Big Sister. Kind of sort of starting to date Erik Stoneberg (Tower of Power) although they aren't getting very far with it due to each haveing a case of chronic inability to make phone calls.
Arachidamia: Sword-wielding regenerating super-fast demon hunter, troubleshooter, and general rabblerouser. Kind of works for MAGI on the side. Also seems to end up beign a babysitter for super-powered kids a fair bit.
Sylpheed: AI-Pseudohuman Combat Simulacrum (AI with a mostly non-organic pseudohuman shell.) Has parts of the memories and personality of her creators daughter. These days, she's pretty much trying to do the whole "be a hero thing without worrying about being human or not." She had run-ins before with Crey, who considered her corporate property after they took over the company that created her, and hence has dealings with the few AI and Machine Rights groups (and knows a number of the prominent lawyers in the field.)
Penumbral Song: Warshade, human name Rachel, expert in interspecies and non-verbal communications matters, occasional TA and lecturer on the subject at PCU. Most prominent activities to date include a role in bringing the nictus Tiger Dark over to the side of good and righteousness (or at least not eating people.)
Starforge: Peacebringer, both sides have an interest in science, and high-energy/plasma physics specifically. She carries on the name of her father, who was a hero in his own right - original designer and user of the Starforge plasma control suit. Doesn't know many people, as both parts of her are rather geeky.
Villains
Sarane: Shard, corrupted aspect of Sara Aegis, seperated during an escapade in another world. Somewhat twisted, seems to be obsessed with Minako, and mostly seems to want to justify her own existence by imposing it on everyone else.
Josie Ironside: Cyber/robophile. Anarchist, technopirate, and all round loud girl. Commands an army of robots, who all adore her. Lubes them regularly.
Others are around, but not regularly. -

Getting really irritated when I wasn't getting any help in the Terra Volta reactor, only to discover that everyone else had been dead for a while, my radition shield had given up ages ago, and I was still squashing Freaskshow. Then the reactor blew up, but hey, you can't win them all.
[/ QUOTE ]
Regen so uber that you can heal from a reactor detonation. Thats why I like scrappers.
Greatest moment for me was on Damia, at level 42, SK'd up to face level 50 carnies. My mentor disconnected. Everything went purple. I hit focussed accuracy, and kept on swinging. Didn't do much damage, but I was hitting, and they STILL couldn't take me down. -
Go in in human, build up IS/RS, self heal to take the first strike, shift to nova, and get up high. Takes a while, but his ranged attack is pants compared to his melee attacks.

Even Oprah Winfrey etc. have latched onto this, put a man in a suit/uniform and his attractiveness doubles.
It does work in reverse though. If you're too 'comfortable' to be with, then false accusations about your lack of brains/lack of morals/gender identity will get slung about.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or nobody will ever take you seriously. *grumbles*
but back to the point
Most of my characters costumes have been driven by necessity, and certain quirks of their powers. Example, Sara can wear more or less what she likes, as it's virtually guaranteed that her skin is a lot more damage resistant than her clothing ever could be, so, aside from what I would call her civilian outfits, most of her stuff is either easy to clean, easy to repair, or magical, with ease of movement being a high priority.
I think Weasels main point stands, though. Philosphically, superheroes are, on some level, the embodiment of archetypes and ideals as much as they are real characters. The main difference is where they strike that balance betweenthe real person and the ideal. -
Yep. As I noted in my guide, with Dull pain up and accolades, you can pull in over 3000HP at level 50.
I use it, and the difference in survivability is astonishing, especially at the high end. -
I'm a dedicated PvE'er, even though I'll indulge in a little PvP from time to time. It's even mostly fun. The main problem is that there seems to be a small subest of people who get into a PvP zone and suddenly revert to the emotional age of five. The insults, the peurile behaviour, everything.
That minority is what puts a lot of people off PvP, to be honest. -
Sara Aegis, Level 50 Inv/Em tank, signing up with Taunt Team experience (depending on how we do the raid.)
-
Gah. Block!
I've gotten to 100 words of 5 different plot ideas (2 of which are CoH)
I can't decide which tot take further.
