    Yeah, I misspoke.

    I will correct my post.

We haven't heard about an official name purge in years is what I should have said.

    Sorry about that.
  2. Yes, they should all be there waiting for you.

There hasn't been a name purge in years.
  3. If you just ask when you're level 25 blueside for someone to drop an Ouro Portal, you can run right to the top of the area and get the badge and the Portal power without using a mission drop.

Once you get the badge you get Entrusted with the Secret and the Portal power.

I have not been lucky enough to get on any teams where the leader asks questions or sets any type of ground rules. Knowing what the leader expected ahead of time would be a huge benefit. In the one case where I stayed behind, to be honest I did not realize that I shouldn't be doing the side missions (sometimes I find it difficult to keep track of everything going on) and I just ran off to find them. Next time I'm standing at a door waiting on a team member I will ask questions. I've tried asking questions like -> "What's your team doing" and I get "Missions" like that explains everything, I don't generally find out until I open the door.

I am still learning, and while I am learning the layouts of the maps and I know which way to go just by entering a room, I still like to take some time. To me it's like re-reading a good book for the 4th (or 5th or Nth) time. I know the whole story, but I read it anyway because I enjoy the story. Like has been said several times by myself and others in this thread, it's about the journey. Agreed, there are many styles of play, I've seen a few, but "run and smash" or "dash and bash" is what I've seen the most of, and it's just not for me.
Like we've said, you really need to start your own teams to set those ground rules.

"Starting Steel Canyon Bank Mission team, levels XX-XX. Will be staying to do all side missions, pst if interested."

    Would be your best choice.

A lot of players are vets, and they know the missions, they know the layouts and already have a main badger so they don't want to hang out for Arsons or Weapons Trades side missions when their main has it already.

I completely understand that you want to sightsee, and when I was a new player in City, as well as MxO, LotRO, EQ, WoW, WAR and DDO I wanted to as well, but if you're not the team leader and calling the shots for the team, then you're rarely going to get the opportunity to do that.
  5. I also recommend PB before WS.

Of course, just to be fair, I was completely bored by my Peacebringer, but I love my Warshade, which is why my WS is at 46 and my PB is at 12.

    Big thanks Zombie Man!

    Server Merger...

The last server merge I was an active part of was on Dungeons & Dragons Online before it went Free to Play. The almighty (and sick and twisted devs (I still love you Patience!)) decided (with I believe to be some hilarious glee and laughter) to stick the powergamer server, Xoriat, with the Roleplay server, Thelanis.

    Yeah.

Quoting me from the DDO forums:

That first week after the merge was a blast.

Player 1- Oh, the dungeon walls are slick with moss and slime, yet we shall ever persevere in the face of untamed evil, only those true of heart and valor will overcome the vils contained within these walls...

    Player 2- Optionals?
    Player 3- Sure!
Player 1- Surely the foul stench of chaos is afoot here, I must tread carefully...

    Quest Complete!

    QFT!

I was doing the Rooster Teeth guest missions before work last night. When Cheat Code was hit with that rad debuff from the mobs I definately noticed the difference between 38.6% and 45.3%.

I still love the guys at Rooster Teeth though, and I'll be buying two more t-shirts this week, (ya know, in case you guys read the forum.)

I feel your pain. My oldest character, and first 50 is still stuck on the Firefighter badge since it never updated before. Has that been fixed?

    Halo

    Very nice.

My weirdest bug was when watching the Witchblade Animated Series DVD on my desktop, I paused it to play City, and I could see the heroine's face on the buildings looking east across Atlas Park at night.
  11. Vet rewards. I love the idea of the devs rewarding us for playing longer instead of the usual "Here's a couple of crappy items you'll outlevel in 2 hours" that I normally see in MMOs.

    Character Customization.

All the wonderful, creative and thoughtful people I've met.

    and of course,

    So...

    Welcome to CoX, Longhorn!

Redside is nowhere near as populated as blueside, and Champion is not as populated as Freedom and Virtue.

Regardless of that, even if you do a /search for people online, you will not find everyone because some people are on /hide.

Just because you don't see anyone doesn't mean no one else is on. They could be in instances, in other zones, or hidden. I'm not sure about the villian population on Champion, but I always see at least a few people redside on Freedom.
  13. We finally got snow! It's coming down right now. Just a dusting and it'll be gone by this time tomorrow, but this is the earliest I've seen snow since I moved here 9 and a half years ago.
  14. Just as an aside, the only time I've ever been kicked from a team was when I had the audacity to suggest Batman was a better hero than Superman.

    Yeah...

  16. Add another for Kat/WP. Very smooth ride from 1-50 and shines without spending a fortune.
  17. I understand having to AFK for different reasons and I'm pretty reasonable about the whole thing.

I'm noted for telling people who have to log out for work/ school/ house on fire to just go sit in a safe corner and get their end reward, especially if they've been a contributing member of the team up till then.

I have most stuff set to about 130% of base settings. I *DO* run in windowed mode so that I can have the two windows side by side on my monitor.

I stand corrected. But my PC isn't anywhere near that powerful.
  19. The term "dual-boxing" (not duel-boxing which is something completely different) comes from using two PCs to run one game at the same time.

While you can run two instances of City on one computer, it's tricky and you need a top-end computer to do it. Otherwise both instances of the game will have to be run in wndowed mode with low details. I think, some clarification from other players will be needed as Anasthesia and I have our own seperate computers for our accounts.

If you have one account, and get a second account on a trial, then upgrade it to a full account, you only get the 30 days on the second account.
  20. A big no from me as well. This idea fails on every level.

    What to make...

You seem to think that IOs are needed and they are not needed, they are optional.

IOs are nice, but you do not and never have needed IOs to make a fun and enjoyable character.

Out of my 12 or so characters, 6 are 50. One of those is completely IO'd out, my Claws/SR, the rest made it from 1-50 using TOs, DOs, and SOs.

    My claws/sr didn't slot a single IO until 47.

My katana/willpower made it from 1-50 without a single IO and he still doesn't have one slotted, yet he can still tank, dps and survive alongside every other scrapper and tanker with no problems.
  22. Not to mention between temporary travel powers, the train, ouro portals, supergroup teleporters, mission teleporters, Assemble the Team!, Wentworth teleporters and Pocket D I can get the any mission in less than 2 minutes even on a character without travel powers.

So I say no. If I wanted to have to run through areas to get to missions, I'd resubscribe to WoW.

For the record, only 3 of my 50's have travel powers. One of those is a Warshade. My Spines/Dark and Kat/WP didn't take SuperJump until 49.
