10% is a probability rate. Not a hard number. Roll a D100 someday about 50 times and count how many times it landed on 10/20/30/40/50/60/70/80/90/100 out of that 50. sometimes it will be more than 10% of the time, sometimes it won't happen at all.
thats the thing with chance and Hard numbers. Sometimes your luck just sucks. -
Currently because of the ping, random spikes in lag and the memory leaks I'm > < this close to pulling my sub like I did back before CoV came out... This is getting completely idiotic with how bad its been getting lately. Hopefully it clears up after the halloween event.
This is getting insane though, even with a dialup connection, I still wouldn't be getting 7k ping out of nowhere and rubberbanding nearly a quarter mile.
Got a example instead of just a rant, this is me using the black market on freedom redside.
I was wondering why the black market was taking so long to respond.
Well this explains it. and the ping at one point went up to 12k for a quick second. -

Some actual guide style information might be a worthwhile addition - how do you find the toggle in the options, for instance. The sorts of things it can and cannot filter. Foreign language implications; I do know that the boards do not like a very common Latin word, found in the expression "magna *** laude", which has always struck me as overzealous.
There are other filters in play, such as the names filter, that ought to be explained. I was dumbstruck when I learned that I could not name one of my mastermind's ninjas "Saddam" directly.
Personally I have my profanity filter turned off because I've played other games with them and unfortunately it was extremely disruptive to general chat not knowing what barely anybody was saying because it was so strict.
Take the above as a example of the chat being unfiltered.

This is why I shut it off. CoX doesn't do this sure... but I've had a bad history with profanity filters never working as intended. -
The one thing that bothers me the most is that these attitudes are becoming more and more accepted into the "mainstream" than anything and it tends to worry me. What does this mean for our future when a good amount of parents can't even teach their own children decent manners.

This screenshot was taken a few moments before I had to force close CoX because it froze up (namely because it ate my full 2 gigs of RAM right up.) -
the logfile looks clean to me, you do have a few missing entries and such,

meh, not much of a crusade, its just exiting that "controlled" area where its becoming more and more rampant on some servers. I save the ignore list for people who actually get on my nerves, many of these players who like to toss their language around amuse me more than anything that they can't get creative with it.

Granted i'm aware that this game is rated T for teen and that the ESRB does not rate the interactions of players durring online sessions (funny yet pointless isn't it?) but to go this far as to remind everyone about something that's pretty basic to me since when I do use "swear words" it often has a vindicated purpose. The main thing about profanity filters that aggerivate me is when they block out normal words due to them having parts of "swear words" in them such as Saturday since if you remove S,A,A,Y you get another word that is considered a "swear word" yet it's not...it is a day of the week. Then again not many people of my generation are aware that Sat is the sabbath and not sunday.
What point was I trying to make again? Oh right the mentioning of the filter and "swear words." All in all in-game we do have a profanity filter that works mostly. If there was a way we the community could modify our own profanity filters this whole topic could become non-exsistent since if you or your parents don't like "swear words" (which by the wat should be used more as a seasoning rather than the main ingredient) then with the filter customization that can happen and you can activly ommit words that end up on the list that aren't "swear words."
(Note: I said "Continued") a stray word here and there can usually be overlooked (when directed at nobody in paticular) Continued usage of profanity and directed use of profanity, that will get you somewhere alright, sometimes a 3-7 day vacation from CoX depending.
but when someone decides to use every last 4-letter word in their limited vocabulary over and over again... thats when I get upset about it and ask politely for them to stop. If they don't, it's a petition and a global note (I don't do ignores. We only have a max of 50 globals we can ignore, and I'd rather leave that for the REAL bad people). -

But yes ive seen that part now. However i also saw Zloths stickied post and assumed it was ok to ask, just not to expect offical help from any of the CoX technical team. I guess either i read wrong or it can be misunderstood.
There is also Known memory leaks within the software. Did you click on something, use a specific power?
The best way I've found to detect a crash as its happening is the sound loop bug. Things will start repeating themselves, powers firing, shields, explosions, music. All will start looping before you can kiss your client goodbye.
With bad memory leaks, no amount of RAM can save you. The memory leak will keep filling up resident memory till its full and the swap file as well.
City of Heroes Reg key is easy to spot within "Local Machine" (I'm doing this off the top of my head because CoX likes to freeze the screen if UAC comes up at any given time which will happen if I open my registry.) The registration key will be under either Cryptic studios or NCSoft After that its pretty easy to locate in the "software" sub-key. -

Memory leak with masterminds
Note the guy with the flame pants and such is supposed to be the Pyromaniac.
Even though the names flipped, he still did what he was supposed to do, run in, burn them all and faceplant in style.
Note: I went from Cap to SI redside and it happened, the names were normal on the cap side, once I entered sharkhead thats when they were all messed up.
But I think this name flip is the tip of the iceberg with a very serious underlying problem. Memory leaks in the software code, pieces not being cleaned up properly or recycled.
when I dismissed them all and recalled them, the names were the same. (clearing old data)
Not to mention I've noticed my ping has been spiking left and right with more yellow lines than red causing random issues and random faceplants. The current pipe that CoX resides on should be re-evaluated.
when my ping goes from 90 to 3000 with only Cox running.... Theres a problem. and its not with my 2Mbit internet. -
What actually keeps my faith in CoX's continuity is "The Matrix Online" Yeah odd isn't it?
But think of it this way. It's a DEAD game... Yet its still available for play. and by dead, I mean dead. I played the trial, the full 14 days and I didn't see another living soul anywhere, not in chat, not running past me, nothing of the sort. Yet it still exists. Genre games Never truly die. And I don't believe that Cox will anytime within the next 5 years. -

CoX will NOT be here forever (though it would be nice wouldn't it? EQ has managed for quite awhile but its slowly dwindling). Cox may be here for a long time to come but still, will not be here forever. I believe this is the thought train most people have when they state when CoX goes offline.
And as well, I say that there should be, respecs, free tailor sessions, more base items, special prestige powers...
Heck, How about a Vet reward that lets you pick ONE set of IO's that are non-tradeable and usable only on the character that earned the reward (Like the selection window after completing a TF) -

I mean what? If a store has a sign that says "No Stealing" and you walk in and steal something, are you going to tell the clerk behind the counter, "If you don't like what I'm doing, look the other direction."? No, you are going to be busted for it. -

In the second build you posted, you have two -KB IOs, which are absolutely unnecessary for a WP tank. Dropping those will save you a substantial amount of influence, and in the case of the BotZ, free up that slot for something more useful.

Just a few things I'd look at:
- The last 3 slots in QR are buying you a grand total of 0.1 eps. I think there are better uses for these slots.
- You have Jab 6-slotted with Crushing Impact. I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea, but if you're only going to 6-slot one attack, Jab is not the one I'd choose.
- I'm not a fan of 6-slotted Numina's Convalescence (Fast Healing). Partly it's a waste of enhancement bonus, but mostly I find it's a waste if you don't have significant ranged defense to stack with it. Consider changing 3 of these to Miracles (non-unique) to get some more hitpoints and recovery.
- 6-slotted Titanium Coating in Mind Over Body: see above. Consider using some of these slots to round out your attacks.
- 6-slotted Aegis in Strength of Will: see above.
- Rage really needs more recharge.
- You're attacks, other than Footstomp and Jab are woefully underslotted for accuracy. I'm not seeing any To Hit buffs, other than Rage, which is down for about a quarter of the time, so adding accuracy is a virtual must if you want to be fighting plus level enemies. There are many unwanted sets that can be franken-slotted to boost damage and accuracy as well as endurance usage. I'd probably consider Focused Smite and maybe 2 Pounding Slugfests (for the regen bonus).
- Rise to the Challenge is slightly overslotted for Healing. Consider changing one of those common Heals to a Numina's: End/Rech, which I believe is the cheapest of the set: you lose about 9% enhancement, and gain 35 hp.
- Heightened Senses is slightly overslotted. LotG: Def/End can usually be had for under 5m with a little patience... probably less, but I don't usually deal in level 50 IO's.
- If you're using Hover in combat, you really need some flight speed to give you mobility. Also, Fly is slightly overslotted: you can reach the fly speed cap with just 2 IO's.
Undoubtedly there will be many more suggestions posted, and probably a few builds, while I've been typing this, but hopefully you find this helpful.
As for accuracy, I do have a couple global accuracy buffs included with some of the sets raising it up some. (on a WarWolf farm I think I missed like 7-9%(guesstimate) of the time not including foot stomp because when you got 20 guys surrounding you, its hard to tally who bounced and who didn't)
and I don't use rage too often, the crash personally is not worth it unless I need to kill and kill quick, but thats just me. I've used rage before, had the perfect attack chain which actually started making a dent in my endurance, flipped on rise to the challenge and then the both detoggle one after the other, defense toggles crash and I faceplant. Perhaps its just my timing in using these two that cause such issues. -

I agree. Rules are rules and when broken there can be consequences. However, someone that feels strongly about the colorful language other players might use will probably find that sending in petitions concerning said behavior so that the game mods can act accordingly will go much farther in curbing such behavior than starting a thread with one's heart on their sleeve sharing with us all one's righteous indignation at the potty mouths of others.

Precisely part of the problem. You know what kind of reaction you're going to get, therefore you are inciting further incident, which I view as harassing other players. Use petition, keep it to yourself, use gignore.
And theres a reason why I put this in the "Player Help" section and not in any other section, its supposed to be a Help guide and was written out as such.
Not as a rant, not as some OMGTEHRSWEARINZ! thread but as a guide.
As I've said also, I'm not perfect with my own language, but on games with rules against it, forums with rules against it and my Job as well, I moderate myself like everybody else should and refrain from saying such things.

If it's really that bad, try another server? I tried making some new toons on Freedom when I ran out of Pinnacle slots but I just couldn't take the stupidity. But really, the whole problem I have with this thread though is that it supposes that the people you're complaining about would actually read it and/or care about it. (Ignoring the fact that the forum-going population is a mere fraction of the game's population as a whole.) Most of the folks you're describing are hormonal teenagers who just don't know any better (not excusing it or anything, just saying). Most people (especially teenagers) don't take well to lecturing. Frankly you come off as a little pompous in here. You certainly have a good point do make, I just don't think you've made it very well. Your language is just as inflammatory as the language you're decrying.

I swore up a storm on the forums at one of my wonderful fellow players who I found to be .... unlikeable due to their actions and words shall we say. On noticing the forum filter didn't catch several choice swears I used I contacted TheOcho about the forum filtering. His answer to my enquiry about whether those words would be added was essentially that although forum filtering is in place, that doesn't remove the users responsibility to moderate their own language. I'd say the same applies in-game.
So essentially I'm agreeing with you GL. Unfortuately the maturity level of net-users varies wildly and tends to the immature end of the spectrum due to assumed anonominity.

I agree that endless spamming of any sort in global channels is inappropriate, but I really don't get where this is coming from. Very rarely do I see anything like what you're describing. If you have a grievance with a specific user you should file a petition against them.

And no, thats not my argument, my argument was already posted as the first post here. That however is whats known in certain circles as a "Example"
So stop nit-picking the RULES that were laid out upon that we agreed to before we even logged in for the first time, before we gladly handed out our credit card information to pay for our subscriptions.
Just like the person who has a sprint phone and blatantly doesn't pay his bill thinking his phone will keep going forever. Understanding your bill and your Service agreement keeps this from happening and keeps you from losing service.
Just like if you Swear in open chat, You ARE liable to end up getting banslapped (Losing your service) because you were not following the basic rules (Paying your bill & following the agreement) put before you when you signed up.
