  1. and how are your graphic settings set up?
    Current equipment? Ram? processor? Video card?

    Can't really answer a question about framerate without what your working with.
  2. This is funny actually, everybody talking about raising the cap and blah blah blah... hmmm. lets see. We have a vault for salvage... in a bank of sorts.... Can't it just be coded in to be able to use this vault to store inf as well?

    They HAVE to COMPETE....

    Get off your pedestals of "This IS the way" and look at reality. It's called a consumer driven economy...

    How about this....

    1. Changing builds requires a 10 second cast-time.
    2. Changing builds has NO COOLDOWN....
    3. Changing builds activates all powers on cooldown longer than 30 seconds WITHOUT effect.

    There...

    You can swap builds at any time, it takes a cast-time with rooting.... and you can't spam long cooldowns... (including hasten).

    ZOMG.... It's not that DAMN HARD.....

    It's just as soon as the Devs get some idea stuck in their head, they rarely listen to anyone without a community resume.
    Wrong!
    CoH had the color changing idea quite awhile ago, just now they finally finished up the code to implement it. It wasn't CO that prompted it.
    10-1 dual builds was already a idea on the dev-plate before WoW even got around to it.
    (BTW I played WoW before coming back here... in the last 6 months. I don't EVER remember the ability to make a second build.)

    Just because the guys who make CoX have odd timing doesn't mean that they didn't already have the ball rolling before others.

    and honestly I belive that you should still have to go to the trainer however I do belive that the time it requires between build switches should be lowered to either 5 minutes or 10 minutes at the very least, had it happen where I'm working on one build testing it out for solo play only and My SG starts a team and I have to tell them they have to wait a quarter of a hour just for me to be useful... yeah...

After the newest patch, gameplay is still extremely jittery, framerate less than 5 FPS, longer than usual load times, with a netgraph that looks like it fell out of an ugly tree and hit a few branches on the way down.

    Last time I played was anywhere from a few days to a week ago, and everything was working fine (and Live is still working fine, I just checked). So I guess my question is - WTF? Should I be worried about not being able to play I16 when it goes to Live?
    your complaining about a 300ms ping?

    I'm lucky if I get that at any day and I can play just fine on live with that... >.>

    And yeah I know his name starts with a R but I can't be arsed to remember the spelling. Saved his butt from the CoT in some random mission I can't remember either o_O

    Honestly I think its a tad unfair that redside is missing ALOT of content... I mean seriously. Ever seen a blueside base with full teleporters? It needs a rather huge room to fit them all.

    Seen a redside one? 7, 7 is all you freakin need for the entirety of redside. (including RWZ and Pocket D)
  8. How the heck do you get to the shard from redside anyway or is it even possible?

    For the record, this incident has given me cause to agree with those who dislike the reputation system. I can't even tell who did it, which is extremely frustrating, since I would like to know what they found offensive and respond politely to clear up any issues that either of us may have. Just saying "meh" isn't helpful in the slightest, so now I'm really irritated. I'm even more irritated than I was by the "hey sexy" comments, because at least I could deal with that (after reading this thread and Steelclaw's hilarious comebacks). Besides, I could at least ignore whoever was hitting on me, since their name would appear in front of the comment. Getting negative rep is like getting punched in the dark; you know someone did it 'cause it hurts, but you can't tell who, which leads to a lot of lashing out randomly, which causes the escalation of this issue when others respond as you did.

    That's my overly sensetive rant for today. What do you think about the whole forum rep issue? Well, besides that I should've started a new thread on it instead of hijacking this one.
    Counter-Attack! WAHHHH!
    +1 rep for you Lucretia. Damn those jerkwads. Just need a freakin "thanks" button... thats all we need. no karma stuff.

    thats the thing, already ran the startup with -test
    Copied pretty much the entire folder over to COHTest except for the main program and the launcher (to prevent any conflict) and let it download the 298MB's it required for the update for the test server. The download was still exceedingly slow untill around 4-5am that morning where it started bursting around 100-135Kb. So I got it all down without a issue after that. Was just kinda screwy for those kinds of speeds.

    Unfortunately... a tremendous amount of data was not retrieved while playing. I was going against bosses in AE, except for the one incident where I mentioned an issue with AV's. I was also, more concerned with "Ok... I gotta stay alive and figure out what I'm doing different from a few days ago and what has changed about what I'm doing" Well... I'm continuing in my own private investigation into this mystery and this is just part of it. By asking other players have they noticed any changes in how they're characters are performing.

    Actually I didn't want to get to far into to much of an in depth or drawn out thread but was wondering if any other players had been noticing any discrepancies in the performance of their character abilities and powers. As apposed to the way or how your character may have previously performed.

    I'm glad that you aren't seeing any noticeable changes in how your character is played. That's Great!

    I'll also mention this because I almost forgot. I was in the aura of a kins transfusion just yesterday a few times and didn't even get the benefit of it. Like I said weird.

    Again I was just wondering if anyone else has been noticing and strange anomalies.

    it's hard to get a scientific analysis for what is going on because I can't isolate each scenario and make them all exactly the same. With i16 it'll be a lot easier to make a 8man type mission to isolate and figure out what exactly may be going on.

    Also, the last known change to fitness was in maybe i6. Well that's why I was wondering about any changes in its effectiveness that you may have noticed. If you notice something isn't the way it use to be, then it's definitely has changed whether we were told about it or not.
    I gotta ask, were you by any chance on the RV version of the Atlas Park map? (you know the destroyed one?) Cause 90% of kins powers for some odd stupid reason do not work on that map inside the MA. (I know, I've tried several times with my 50 rad/kin and it didnt work.)

    Just realized I should also point out that the "attacks" were hitting, the transfusion, transferrence, siphon speed/power, all hitting, but no effects, no buffs. no nothing. just pure flash. no effect.

    Granted some of them are kinda random and are supposed to illicit a "wut?" or something stupid like that. However quite a few of them if applied tactifully will leave em scratching their heads goin "duuuhhhhh *drools*"

    Anyway, good luck perv-stomping
  14. all my time playing I've never really wondered too much about that, but now, it just got too much to bear and I HAD to ask someone. gonna go door clicky next time I'm over there.
  15. This usually happens next to Lorenz Ansaldo in Sharkhead,

    The Banana-nator has defeated Nigel's Friend
    Furious BoBo has defeated Thing Kong
    Darwin's Bane has defeated Nigel
    Furious George has defeated Banana Bandito
    Furious George has defeated Captain Eeep!
    The Banana-nator has defeated Furious George
    Furious BoBo has defeated The Banana-nator

    and the sound of ritki portals popping always makes me paranoid O_o

    Any idea what this is about? and where the heck are these battles? I wanna see dangit!
  16. I've seen this same thing reported about the mapserv at the end of a tf and the tf being completed but no rewards cept the badge elsewhere on these forums, I think it might of been the same one too as the names ring a bell. Should search in these forums for it cause it seems to be a ongoing bug thats cropped up recently.

    The only time you'll ever have to run the updater and verify is when an update to the client is required.

    The problem is, if the registry doesn't even have the correct install directory to begin with, neither method is probably going to help much... and going into detail on how to edit the registry isn't always a good idea anyway. I know you added a slight "disclaimer", but some people are going to go to the wrong place, and add/delete the wrong thing, or think it's ok to do the same thing for other programs.. and that's just heading down a bad road.

    If you want to provide a helpful registry key.. just provide the key and say: "Those who know what you are doing will know how to use this, everybody else please disregard. It can be 'dangerous' messing with your registry if you don't know what you are doing."

    On a side note, I have XP and my registry files say "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00", not REGEDIT4 as you describe.
    If they aren't smart enough to make the file themselves, they shouldn't do it in the first place.
    Older versions of XP (some but not all, mostly SP1 run 4.0 while newer ones or updated versions run 5.0)

    and the registry doesn't rely on how the filesystem is, you could have CoX in "c:\My supercool folder\me\huh\who\where\which\city of heroes"
    And CoX would still write those registry keys in the same location no matter where you install it.
    and yes the switch "-project coh" does work, however I'm not a guy whos fond of using switches in programs (sometimes unreliable causing instability but not always like mebby 10% of the time something can bork up and by placing a switch its easy to forget about and always skips the verification, registry edit = 1x skip) so if you have a crash and who knows you might just blame your pc but in reality its some texture somewhere in the world thats causing it to go boom....
    no verification, sometimes its good to have something that resets itself so you don't forget to check.

    (btw, I do speak english as my native tounge, I do know how to spell, I just havent slept in about 63 hours now... so if these posts are hard to understand... I blame my insomina and the noisy neghibors.)
    [edit]
    As a side note, no registry key file is provided because of one word, "Liability" if they tweak the file check key themselves I am not liable for what their fingers do. However if I did provide a file and something screwed up immediately or down the line then I would be liable for it because I provided a file as a fix that could of been the issue (though it wouldn't be anyway because it would be those lines only) so hence a do-it-yourself solution is provided.
  18. If the key does not exist, then CoX didn't realize it crashed and will start without verifying the files.

    Adding it is a bit of a failsafe as either way without the key or with the key set on the binary switch of 0 or "off" just says the same as the key not being there, "I don't need file verification so just show the 'Next' button when we load up"

    If you actually add the key "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000001
    and attempt to run the game it will attempt file verification

    and if your gonna make the key notice it says DWORD (which is a 32-bit value) I.E. right click and select New, then DWORD
    put in VerifyOnNextUpdate as the Named text, then double click it, replace the "0" (zero) value with a 1 instead, hit OK and then try to run your updater. it will start to verify the files as if the client "crashed". Close the updater and change the value back to 0(zero) and the updater will go straight to showing the "Next" button.
  19. Yeah seeing how if I remember correctly (and I'm goin on 70 hours with no sleep... deadlines suck) the total filesize was like a bit over 200 megs. so this is just a precursor to the new update I would assume then. its what I figured.
  20. Ok, normally when we load the game if theres a update, the screen shows up and starts downloading said update... When we START the game. the last two times I loaded the game, played for a bit and logged out to desktop... the updater started and started downloading a 85 meg set of files. (two times cause last time I stopped it cause it was interfering with another download) this time it completed but this is the first time I've ever seen it do a post-update instead of the usual update before the game loads. Any answers on why this happened and what got updated? (playing regular server and not test... would be odd if this was a patch to the test server when I'm playing on the regular one and no -test switch in my shortcut...)
  21. Looks like its capping the virtual memory or the RAM and bugging out. Do you have hard limits set on the Virtual memory on your windows installation or are you letting windows manage your swap file space?
  22. On top of it all, I will NOT be held responsible if you bork your CoX install or even your windows install cause you toyed with something BESIDES WHAT I TELL YOU...

    Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, to bypass the sometimes long verification process you open up regedit (using Winkey+R to pull up a run dialog)
    browse to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\COH
    and change the

    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000001
    to
    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000000
    by double clicking on the VerifyOnNextUpdate key.
    (do note that the text entry box for this specific key will only show a single "1" in the field, this is expected and should only be replaced with a single "0" [a Zero] and NOT eight of them.)
    A easier way to do it is make a text file and put the following into it.
    For Vista Users,
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\COH]
    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\CohTest]
    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000000
    That will take care of both the Test client and your main client. Just rename the text file you made into CoXVerificationfix.reg
    if the game ever crashes and you know its not a file issue, just double click that file you made with that code in it and it will skip the verification each time. For Win XP users its virtually the same except the notation is diffrent.
    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\Coh]
    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\CohTest]
    "VerifyOnNextUpdate"=dword:00000000
    And your golden, able to skip that nasty verification bullcrap every time.
  23. you know, after checking out the travel powers from CO from a youtube vid ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noayIOJP6EQ ) I notice ALOT of their animations... look extremely similar to ours, especially the flight ones with hover and in flight, arms, legs, poses... all practically 100% the same... and the wing flap. you figure they would at least make the shoulders move to simulate the muscle flexing the wings to make them flap but nooooo..... lol in my mind after watching a few youtube vids on CO... I gotta find my eyewash cause I feel dirty...
  24. seriously? 2.8K/sec? It took nearly a half hour just to get the file manifest! Mirrors dev, thats what its all about. File mirrors, theres lots of places that will host that stuff (mostly universities and such) for a nominal fee or figure out some sort of secure protocol thats used only between the CoH users and the client checked against the checksum's generated by your systems in a "bittorrent" like fashion between the players. oh look... 3.2K/sec.... >.>

    You know, my net isn't all that fast... But On a good day I can still get about 130K/sec through my CELLPHONE... 2-4K/sec is really retarded speeds (and I'm not talking about the disorder, I'm talking the ACTUAL meaning of the word for those people who feel like flaming)

    BTW, whoever -rep'ed me for screwing up disease with disorder 7 minutes from midnight where I live is EPIC fail. period. Go away.
  25. Those youtube videos.... SS mod.... *copies his chars quickly* I MUST see this.... *slips on a puddle of his own drool* ACK! Can someone get me a towel?
