Bots/Traps MM + Crab spider
High damage, AoEs, defence-capped. -
Ok, I am SOOO rolling more. I figured I would try my luck with some of my regular Merits and rolled 4 times:
[Luck of the Gambler: +7.5Recharge Speed (Recipe).50],
[Miracle: +Recovery (Recipe).40],
[Numina's Convalescence: +Recovery and +Regeneration (Recipe).50],
[Decimation: Acc/End/Rech (Recipe).40]
I am happy. -
And rolling in the 30's is better than using 2 merits and picking the good ones? What of the 50s? Better to roll or pick?
-
Should I be farming tip-missions with my low level toons to get low level IOs uniques or use my 50s and get lvl 50 IOs?
I kinda got the idea that I was wasting my time using my 50s to farm...
How do you people think? -
I like stealthing missions. Often I find that I cannot finish all the arcs and badges before a certain level unless I stealth missions. Arc completion bonus, merits and mission completion recipe drops make up for a sligthly slower levelling.
This has become even more true now with the tip missions. -
Quote:I agree with this suggestion. VEATs are very flexible and can be built however you like. Another huge benefit is that you get two toons at the (XP-) price of one! With the alternate build you could have both a range/control Fortunata plus a high damage nightwidow. Or a AoE-crab + stalkerish Bane.Even if it can't be used in Praetoria, I suggest the VEATs, they're very flexible and have alot of variety, and are always good to team with with Tactical Training.
+great team abilities.
Awesomeness. -
In order to make Stalkers more balanced to Scrappers and more specialized in order not to be mini-Scrappers I would like:
* Faster animation time on AS, BU and Placate.
* Faster recharge on AS, BU and Placate.
* Base damage comparable to Scrappers.
* Rework Hide to make it easier to use. For example not allow the enemy's queued attack break Hidden after a Placate. Ability to enter Hide faster if not in line of sight of the enemies. -
An easy way to start out is to look at a build guide for your particular sets. It gives you something to strive for while you learn about the sets.

Ice seems conceptually wrong to me - people would notice the intense cold and that would make sneaking around pretty hard.

So, how bad is the loss of Fury from the control-toggles?
I find on my brutes I tend to rely on getting hit to build Fury faster (yes, I do have Brawl on auto). -
Quote:It's a bit hard and expensive to get perma mindlink as a Fort but they can get softcapped for all three quite easily without it. Not that expensive either. If you can softcap, any AT should be able to take down a standard Elite Boss on their own.
Fortunata can softcap all three at once, though it might be a bit expensive. As for AVs, it might be a bit harder as Fortunata doesn't have access to -regen (if I remember).
Forts do have -regen in the form of Poison Dark as well as Dart Burst. Their damage might still be a bit low to make soloing AVs practical though. -
Sorry if this is necroing and a bit OT but:
Ok, so as I understand it Dark gets great survivability from controls...but....how does this work for brutes? I mean, a brute wants to get hit to build fury - you don't want the mobs to be stunned or feared! You want them to attack but deal negligable damage. I guess this makes these two powers skippable? (Along with self-res as you don't ever want to die). Is the survivability still good because of the big heal but the need for blue insps larger?
Dark does look really cool... -

Quote:But this didn't help you start the game anyway I take it? Has nobody found a way to get around this checksum error?I started a related thread because my problems include the inability to even fix files after checksum...
BUT, if you are using nod32, even when you quit the program, it's kernel is running, you need to disable it at start up, then go ahead and reboot, then try to install/update . -
I keep getting a checksum error when trying to fix cityofheroes.exe. It started with NOD32 quarantining the file during the update today.
I have disabled NOD32.
I have tried deleting coh.checksum.
I have tried deleting coh.checksum and updater.lock.
I have tried renaming the folder and thus downloading the whole client again.
What else should I try? -
Quote:I disabled NOD32 and it doesn't help. I still get the File Error. That's what I get from the updater ('you may be out of room') if I patch with my virus protection enabled.
NOD32 deletes the file and gives a warning, and the updater gives me the same message you get. Only way I see is to disable antivirus protection while patching.
That path does look a bit fishy to me...
I deleted the coh.checksum like I read in a sticky and now I get new checksum error. -
I am also getting the checksum error and the path in the error message seems wrong - there is a '/' where there should be a '\'?

OTOH, in a roleplay character I want to see some physical detail not obvious from the avatar, and (since this is a modern world with mass media) a little bit about anything you could read about the character in the gossip columns and newspapers.
I do not want to read the entire character history. I do not need to be able to read that this person is actually a demigod from the planet Flarg. I'd prefer to discover that by talking to them (or, preferably, to discover that they are something entirely more reasonable.).

This is my approach to the bio as well. Just to write what a person could possibly determine by looking at (or mindprobing or in other way examining) the toon. However this means that a couple of my alts lacks a bio despite them having a background story. I just haven't thought out what details about the character that's not immediately apparant from the graphics. -

If you struggle with EBs solo, Ghostwind, then sure a shivan can help, but I rarely use them solo - overloading with insps can be a bigger help - that gets some of my characters through specific EB fights they would otherwise struggle with - usually a few purple Lucks is enough to keep my character safe, but with my stalkers/blasters I might go for red insps instead (kill them before they kill me). Depends on the character, the EB, and the strengths/weaknesses of both.

I have plenty of toons and most of them solo EBs just fine. Some of my toons even do it "like the wind", as you say, depending on the EB. However some need help in the form of shivans. Silver Mantis for instance was a pain for my MA/regen stalker before the recent stalker buffs. She is easy enough now.
None of my toons seem able to solo an AV. I can't say that I've tried really. -
Oh, since the OP's MM could solo AVs easily I was under the impression that was one of the requirements. Thought everyone was suggesting builds that solos AVs... silly little old me...
After all, any AT can solo to lvl 50. It's just more or less easy and/or fast. -
Wow, there sure seems to be a lot of power combinations that solo AVs easily! I must be making the wrong choices...some of my toons have trouble with EBs... :-(
Do you need to IO your toons out to take on AVs? Use a lot of Temp powers like Shivans? Any tips would be appreciated. -
I have tried a few toons both red and blue side and none of the combos I've tried has been able to solo AVs like the wind (or even at all). I tend to pick rather uncommon combos tho... An educated guess on blue side AV soloer I would also say Ill/rad troller based on what I've read on the forums.

I suddenly feel the need to level up my fortunata. I'm only lvl 24 at the moment and right now I feel like a really crappy Dom (my Mind/Psi can do a hell of a lot more at lvl 24). Nice to know that it gets better at higher levels.
-
I find that I sometimes avoid teams with my stalker as I don't feel comfortable with not contributing enough.
Stalkers can still perform fairly well in groups tho. I remember one time when we did the Sharkhead SF in the VG and the team was 4 stalkers and a corruptor. We did just fine. -
It might be cool to do this once i12 has arrived and play a team of arachnos VEAT...
