Hello everyone and welcome to my little corner of this new home.
I'm sure you've all seen my name (I haz sticky!) and wonder wha... actually, I'm not sure people do wonder about me... anyway...
Today is an exciting day for me, as my first real commission got finished today.
I'm so happy with it that I've made it my first entry on my deviantArt page too!
I'll be doing my best to get my other art (that other people have done) up on there too to share it with all you lovely wonderful art addicts out there. I'll be updating this thread with them too!
Without further ado, I bring you... The Grav Mistress! as done by the wonderful BattleWraith!
I'm rather pleased with this piece and I hope you all enjoy it too!
PS. the first one to say 'one of us' will get the (dis)pleasure of me going foreign on your posterior! -
Quote:Those are indeed CoV only.
Ahhh Doc Buzzsaw and the Facemaker... I can't wait to see them! I'm still such a noob and spend too much time on CoH (and still haven't even fought Dr. V himself because I seem to have bad luck attaining that mission). I need to play CoV more. Those are only on CoV, correct?
As for CoH, when you are 25+ and have the Ouroborous portal, you can pick your own mission
I think Doc Buzzsaw is a bit hard to get as a contact (well, meet the requirements) in time of it's level range. -
Quote:You know the Rulz of the Interwebz, right?I got a rep (thank you to whoever gave it to me!) that mentioned me as a guy. Just notifying that I am most definitely a girl.
There are no wominz and all girlz are FBI-agents

Wow, she looks amazing! Like Suichiro said, it doesn't look at all flat, it has substance and it's so.. so... amazing!

He looks rather animated, well, not at the moment, but he does look like he's about to burst into slashy and stabitty action... well done!
Quote:No Vahzilok drawings today... Back hurts!
I will be drawing Rainbow Jester and Vivace next!
I haven't played CoX in days....this must be remedied.
I look forward to what you do with such a colourful character (literally and figuratively?) as Rainbow Jester, well, after you've given your back a bit of rest, or movement.. or well.. yeah, health is more important than art
Also, have fun ingame -
Quote:*gets stones ready*
I think the delay was my fault. So if you want to throw stones...
Quote:well, don't throw them at me because stones hurt!
*puts stones down again, and throws marshmallows instead* -

Quote:From the comic with War Witch and... gah, can't remember his name..
Vahzilok is one of my favorite villains. His design is the one of the most unique models City of Heroes has to offer, I think, like how can you still see the remains of his original torso stitched into the big one he has now, that was a really nice bit of design there.
I do wonder how he manages to do all the stitching he does with a giant cannon for a hand, though.
When they went after Doc Vahz himzelf, he waz a normal human in one panel, a few panelz later he waz in ze Big Zombie (why am I uzing Z'z?), which makez me think it'z a Big Zombie Zuit! -
I thought so
It did feel a lot more like a style choice than a recurring 'mistake'
Keep up the good work -
*scoops up VexXxa's jaw and put it up for sale on eBay*
An other great piece Wassy, lounging Lylith does look comfortable!
I must say that in a lot of your drawings the proportions do seem a little off. I don't know if it's just that the heads are larger or if the body just seems ... a bit chibi-ish? -
-
....
....
STOP TEMPTING ME!
*looks shifty*
*checks paypal wallet and outstanding commissions*
Hmmm, who to get... -
Quote:One of the things I love about CoH and the boards (well, this section is the only one I frequent) is that we're one big happy familyAww, thanks so much for the kind and inspiring words, guys. It really means a lot.
I decided to get out of the house for the past couple of days and that has also really helped (and also why I haven't posted. Sorry!).
(also, we art addicts must cherish our suppliersno?)
Glad you're feeling better and with a clearer head
(and making art again!)

It was kind of hard to tell some of the details from your ref, but I did my best!
......
.........
HOLY FLIPPIN' HE*bites lip to contain enthusiasm to manageable levels*
Wow, wow and wow some more.
the lines, the anatomy, the balance... superb!
the quality of the centre piece could easily star on a mainstream cover!
The surrounding blurrier boundry fits in so very well, they complete the piece without distracting from the centre and the details AS WEL AS create a level of mystery to the piece... like she's stepping out from shadows, or out of a magical conduit.
*looks left and right shiftily, then FREAKS OUT DUE TO THE AWESOMENESS*
disclaimer: I don't usually use all cap words, I might be a little sleep deprived but am not under the influence of biological mood altering agents.
Quote:And a WIP/sketch-thing (not sure if I'm gonna continue with it) of my faaa~vorite doctor. <3
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...ahzilokWIP.png
His arm-thing is actually MUCH larger than how I drew it, but it would just...mess up the composition. I might make his body smaller if I decide to continue the picture. Ah well, that's artistic license for ya!
Looking at your W.I.P., I look over it to see points to praise or point out things to improve. I'm drawing a complete blank on this piece. The anatomy is so odd that I feel I can't really comment on it, other than the doc himself. His arms are reaching back a bit far, but then, I think that of the ingame version as well, so well done there!
Normally, I'd say that I look forward to seeing how you clean it up and such, and technique wise I am, but subject wise I don't
So there you go, an other example of "you can't please everyone every time, nor should you try" -
I agree
Quote:I think its just ever-so-slightly bottom-heavy, though. Might have been nice to see both characters moved up a teeny smidge.
And yes, colouring will no doubt bring it more into blance to your liking too -
Quote:O Rly? Y Rly!
Oh my... That old costume of Ellie's is soooo horrible. Her current one is WAY better!
Mind you, Grav's costume was awesome then, it's just grown in awesomeness!
I noticed I used a few 'two's instead of using 'too', but ah well, that's something I can blame on my proof-reader
I also appologice for the amount of cheese. It's not for nothing they call us Dutch 'cheese heads' -
Oooh nice one
only comment I have to make is the light side of the lip, the thick black line makes it stand out when in the small view even if it doesn't show as much in the big view.
Great buste shot and colouring -
This is great work!
Both in the story telling, the story you are telling and the screenshots you've used and cropped!
I bet you've made a few hundred to get the right one
Keep up the good work! -
A few years back there was a contest for player created comics about:
A day in the life of a hero
I came across my pages lately and I thought I'd share them with you
A day in the life of The Grav Mistress!
Page 1
Page 2
Page 3
Page 4
Or if you're crazy enough to view them full size in one window....
Hope you enjoy this old piece of work!
ShadowGhost -
Aww cute!
And such amazing graphics!
Good luck keeping him on your shoulder -
Quote:OMG!I think that this thread won't be complete until we see some Wassy pin-up art of The Lounge Crooner.
That has to be one of the funniest cheesy (and sleasy) character design I've seen, great screen captures! -
Wassy, you rock!
You make some excellent art and I see subtle differences in your styles, nice to see
There, that said, I heard rumours of a curious creature that was caught on foto at a curious moment. I wonder if those rumours are true, but if they are, it'd no doubt be awesome to behold (if you're into that sort of thing).
I heard an other rumour... about an other curious creature by the name of Wassy that seeks to get reference material for practice purposes.
If such rumours are true, then said curious (and awesome) creature might be interested in these:
Dance Flash explination
Dance Flash - Hero style
Dance Flash - Feeling naughty
The Mistress of Gravity - Textified
Grav Mistress - the classic armour
Grav.. feeling blue?
Grav's the name, Magic's the game
Grav's the name, Magic's the... hey, wait a second, didn't we have this already? Different magic game.
Jessica needs time too
And outfits too!
I hope these appeal to the Wassy, where ever the mythical creature might be!
ShadowGhost
(Sorry for the U's, better get used to it!)

Having slept on it and having checked my balance... I can say... check your mail

I love your art here, and I've seen that you've experimented and improved.
One thing with experimenting is that it'll go wrong. Probably more often than going right. But it's done to get better and get it right (is there such a thing in art?)
What you do with critique is of course up to you, but here are some pointers:
- Consider the source.
Friends and family tend to praise and encourage. While nice, they don't generally point out things that could be improved upon.
Random Strangers can both be a source of unbiased feed back, as well as a source for utter bullocks.
- Consider the validity
If someone calls you a jerk, shrug it off, if 5 people call you a jerk, there might be something in that makes you seem like one (even be one?). That was just an example, but it fits, just replace 'jerk' with what ever you like: brilliant, talented, nice, ugly, smart, rich, a hero, a villain... you name it. (Just be careful when it's something like "President of the USA")
So, one Commenter says that your current are isn't as good as your older work. You think you've improved, just using a different style with better techniques. By my estimation, you've considered the validity of his feedback and considered it inaccurate.
- Don't be afraid to ask.
If something's not clear or you don't agree with some feedback, don't be afraid to ask someone why they think so.
What is it that makes your older work 'better' according to him? Is it just style, or does he have things to point out like composition, framing, anatomy or technique?
Ask someone else what (s)he thinks of the critique given, if they agree or not.
As a bonus, asking questions also tends to make it easier to see how valid the critique is
Um, well... I do believe I'd have been easier off copying a textbook, but hey, didn't have mine handy
So I say, listen to the people here as well and take heart!
We wuv your art and your skill, and your style too! -
I'm new to your side of the pond's artists and styles and conduct... but I like it.
I'm also a bit new to commissioning work, but I'm catching up
I've already ordered a few... I'll have to check my balance for this.. it's too good to pass up! (but I must remain sensible..) -
... I think the Firebase will find a sudden influx of heroes inspecting the soldiers closely...
-
Quote:^ ThisGreat job on consistancy of sizing and positioning. Can't imagine the time and patience.
Great composition too!
I like the wings at the back in the middle and the numerous details that'll let you have it as a wallpaper and still spot something new after a.... year?
