Hi Scrappers.
I was wondering if someone could post a build for a DM/EA build? I'm really quite terrible at using MIDS.
So far I'm lvl 10 with this build and not sure what to take as I grow this toon to make him tougher. Right now, he seems quite squishy say vs my claws/SR scrapper.
EA seems to have similar defences as FA does, which to me, makes the toon a little squishier for a scrapper.
Thanks to those that are willing to help out.
Cheers! -
Quote:Hi,Do you know what primary you'll be using? That can have a slight or significant change on how a secondary is set up.
My scrapper is 50 and is fire/fire.
So far, I've slotted for def but he still seems very squishy. I'm at work so can't post my build atm.
I guess I'm just wondering which IO Sets would be best for the powers that accept defence sets.
Thanks! -
I just want to make sure I have this right...
I will be making a Prae toon on Protector for an invation next week.
We will have a channel ready by then. (?)
And Phillygirl is leading the way!!
Am I missing anything?
Cheers! -
It is awesome to watch you play! Just AWESOME.

Hello.
I have no idea how to slot FA for best results.
Could I get some advice on this from ye the scrapper gurus?
I'm okay with IO sets, but no purps please. Just can't afford those atm.
Cheers!

My first 50 is a dark/dark/dark defender. Great toon to learn on.
Second - an Illusion/Kinetics controller - again, great toon to learn on.
Third - Earth/Kinetics controller - slowest soloer I've ever played. Even with Stoney, but I learned some great techniques for controllers.
Then I discovered scrappers. If you want a toon that is just "in your face with fists" and can handle itself really well with defence and resist damage, go scrapper. My personal fav is claws/ super reflexes. Fun little toon.
My next easiest play is a Will Power/Super Strength tank. Fun toon but not a lot of thought needs to go into playing it, which opened up a world to me. I turned off influence and played through as many arcs as possible.
This game is filled with great stories, which leads me to advise to read and play the arcs. A ton of work went into them, and they are worth the read.
Cheers and welcome to City of *! -
Claws/SR is just great. Nice soft capping for defence and claws...is the bomb!
My second choice would be fire/wp. Fun toon. A little end heavy sometimes but wp is pretty much easy mode from 1 - 50.
ymmv -
For someone newish to def's or rekindling a long lost love affair with them, I'd go along with Dark/Dark. It was my first def and I got him to 50 pretty easily.

Very, very cool!
Nice work and excellent multi-tasking skills! -

Quote:Well Ive started an illusion/rad controller, got him to level 10 so far. not much for group holds except for flash and that has a very long recharge time even with two recharge enhancments on it.
i got invited into a team and they said "just heal" acting as that was my only power useful for the team.
so when does illusion/rad get good? what level and what powers make it worth sticking with?
Leave any team that tells you to "just heal". They are idiots and obviously have no idea how well an ill/rad will help the team. Actually, any AT is helpful on a team -

Quote:I think Power Pools need some love in general, but since you asked:
Medicine-- would be nice to have a non-tech, perhaps magic-based, animation option
Teleport-- I've always thought a darker, smokier version was needed for villainous types... alternatively, I've always thought a cool alternative to tp using the same power activation is to allow burrowing: the "tp" target would always have to be on the ground; upon activation, the toon digs down into the ground and disappears; the toon pops out of the ground at the chosen location, and so on (to make this really different, make the power slower than tp, but the toon is untouchable while in transit, being underground)
Super Speed-- incorporate the crouch and lean of ninja run to make the animation more realistic, maybe add some of those cool new "motion ghosts" like we see in the DP animations to denote speed... for that matter, how about a motor cycle option?
Super Jump-- why not allow the mid-air flip of ninja run for some pizzazz?
Leadership-- again, villains shouldn't have a cute fanfare when activating these powers-- Soldiers of Arachnos seem to have alternatives that make more sense
Flight-- allow a rocket pack option so less "super" powered toons can stay true to their concept without sacrificing the enhanceable nature of the power versus taking a raptor pack, or being costume-restricted by having rocket boots just to justify their ability to fly
I love that you're asking
Ooo...these suggestions are awesome. I second these. err.. I guess I 3rd them... -
I'm not exactly sure what you could do vs. what we currently have, but some different animations for Claws would be super cool.
And alternate for Hasten. Option to have no effect at all would be super.

Hi folks.
Just wondering if someone could point me in the direction for which anc or epic that would work best for an Earth/Earth?
Thanks! -
I think on my current lvl 2 I'll use drops.
Create another toon with the same powerset and slot.
See what the difference is (if I can notice it at all) and if I feel it's worth waiting.
Thanks for all the insightful replies -
Quote:I slot only what drops randomly. Realistically, I have so much money that I could afford to fully slot TOs if I wanted, but the benefit is pretty minimal and you can hit level 12 so easily in this game, I don't see the point. You'll out-level them in almost less time than it took to buy and slot them. ^_^
Hm. Never really looked at it that way.
I think on my current lvl 2 guy, I'll just not slot and wait for IO's instead. -
I have generally been using TO's until 7, then IO's. Once I hit 17, I use one of my vet respec's, take the major ones out and replace with lvl 20's rinse repeat at lvl 27. But by then, I'm also using drops.
I also have a stock of them in my base in most ranges.
Thanks for the replies folks. -
Try just using the Widow Blades. They are the least intrusive I think.
-
I've known a few people that never slot them and then others, like me, who do.
The question is, are they actually worth slotting or is the benefit so minimal that it's a waste of influence?
Thanks!

I'm trying out a DM/EA at the moment. Only have him up to lvl 7 but so far, he's pretty fun. Not sure how he'll pan out, but I'll play him in between all my other alts.

2 good farmers I have - elec/shield and fire/fire. Both are fun, but I think that if I had to pick one to do all over again, it would be the elec guy. Fast farming guaranteed.
