  1. BABs hinted/joked/teased it was a bug relating to quivers... or that's what everyone assumed when he made his post regarding this bug.

No idea if that's what this actually means, but dang that'd be cool.

I second this sentiment. It's likely due to holiday madness + pre-beta madness, but... until closed starts, the info black out is making us forumites INSANE... not that we weren't already, but still...

I've tested it with with various non-weapon powers or weapon powers from completely different sets, and it seems to work out. This means that you will be able to use any power in a chain with a weapon power, and not have to redraw the weapon...even completely different weapon powers. It will just instantly appear in your hand and play the attack animation. If you're not in combat, out of range, or have no target selected...then it will play a non-rooted, interruptible version of the weapon draw animations.

Some minor issues with consistently playing a weapon draw animation outside of combat, or the weapon draw animation playing when it really does need to...but that shouldn't interfere with combat.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get to every powerset at once, but I was able to get the following powersets done.

    • Broadsword
    • Claws
    • Dual Blades
    • Archery
    • Battleaxe
    • War Mace
    • Trick Arrow
    • Thugs Mastermind Dual Pistols
    • Robotics Mastermind Pulse Rifle
    • Arachnos Widows
    • Arachnos Soldiers
    • Patron "mace" powers
    • Munitions Ancillary Pool
The rest will have to wait until sometime after GR:
    Wow... awesome!
  4. Um... that was a really long wait for a really bizarre clip. Someone please explain what I just watched...

    Ninja Run

Hahaha... I think I'd fall over laughing seeing that in (any) game.
  6. Is it the dev intention to have custom critters able to take advantage of the power customization feature?

    [edited for simplicity]

Just FYI, some more changes coming to the Ninja Run animations in the near future:
    • Going to look at the deformation in the spine during some of the jump moves. Looks especially odd on some of the female models because of how the geometry is built/weighted
    • Dual Pistols/Claws will be getting a more appropriate set of animations (namely the ready stance and runs)
    • "Shotgun" mode will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.
    • Shield combat mode (without a weapon) will be getting a more appropriate set of animations.

Jay and Cheryl are also looking into various issues with costume pieces.
Does "shotgun" mode refer to Assault Rifle, or something else. Though I was not able to witness it myself, a friend mentioned that the run animations for use with AR are... less than pleasant. I don't have any AR characters myself, so I can't test to see exactly what is happening there.

I also noticed that at least one of the bows for Archery have the bow turned at such an angle that the bowstring is almost entirely clipping with the body. I'll see if I can post pictures of that when I get home.

Good to hear there are tweaks coming... much kudos to the unnamed animator who did do/is doing so much work on it!
  8. The Walter P-38 is pretty cool (360-degree view for your referencing pleasure)

Here is a listing of some interesting, fictional handgun concept art, of which a couple of images caught my eye:

    LUIGI-FRANCHI "NOBLEMAN" 2375eb
    P - +1 - J - P - 4D6 (.44 magnum cased) - 6 - 1 - VR
This gun leaves us breathless in its elegance and beauty. It harkens back to a time of honor and chivalry. Of course using it in combat is not recommended, though it is fully capable. It is one of the most highly sought after collectors pieces being produced today. Each one is hand made from scratch and uniquely engraved. Real ivory grips, solid 24 karat gold adornments, and more style than should be possible in a weapon.

Something along the lines of this (or anything vaguely Steampunk) would go a long way. Very "form over function" in design, something that says, "Wow, that's unique, classy and distinguished, if a tad unwieldy looking."

RONIN ARMS "WHITE CRANE MK-II" 390eb
    P - +2 - L - R - 2D6+3 (10mm caseless) - 20 - 1 - VR
The first white crane was so popular, they decided to do it again, this time chambered in the slightly smaller 10mm, but the gun is much more accurate now, and holds more rounds as well. In addition the grips are molded for comfort, although it is still unsure know how you carry that thing without cutting the crap out of yourself.

Something like this lends itself well to the overall "gun-kata" feel the set appears to embody... even if large axe-like blades on a pistol are kind of... silly. Making the pistols look like they could be used as melee weapons would be very interesting.

Lastly, this image is less a perfect reference, and more an example of what I would assume it both on awesome concept and potentially the most... challenging request to make. Obviously, we have no idea how "Change Ammo" works (specifically how it affects the effects), but having a futuristic-looking pistol that ALSO had a visual glow we can alter (similar to the laser sights on some of the current pistols), would be AMAZING.
  9. Because everyone and their (RP'd) mothers have been asking for that ability... and because BAB's is awesome with his "spare time."
  10. I agree, Time Bomb is SO situational most cannot really leverage it to be useful. I especially like it's comparison to Omega Maneuver (what I think the power should always have been), in that the taunt aspect of that power really does fit into a support category. Please oh please, make this so!
  11. Um... lol wut?

Most random update ever... though I'm betting the "walk" animation is going to be SUPER popular.

I'm puzzled why the term "Talsorian" is going away... aren't they already relatively established in-game? (haven't paid that much attention to their story, so no idea)
  12. I'm betting he's thinking of the difference between "regular" animations and animations for a character with the Shields powerset. Or how the brawl animation is a kick with the Bow deployed. Not even remotely the same thing as what he's asking, but... yeah...

    APP Suggestion?

I would actually recommend Dark Mastery, more so if you like to run into and out of melee (which I assume you do to take advantage of Heat Loss). I say that for several reasons.

Between Dark Embrace and Arctic Fog, you are now resistant to every damage type (sans psi). Build up some defense (through set) if you like, and you'll be a tough-ish squishy.

Layered on top of your resistance, Oppressive Gloom is pure and simply, awesome. The HP loss isn't unmanageable, and the instant-minion helps a lot. It's better when you have another stun to stack, but it's still good mitigation.

Of course, the PBAoE +end and +dmg/to hit powers are also really nice bonuses. I've yet to actually try out Soul Transfer, but am looking forward to using it with my dark/rad defender if my team ever wipes. Instant team-restart in two clicks? Heck yes.

Anyway, I hope that helps... just my two cents.

If you guys end up with a more user-friendly time (i.e. not midnight, mid-week), I'd love to still help out with my Widow... He needs some Mo5SF goodness!
  15. I've been having the same issues since... well, forever. I'll deactivate CoolIris tonight to see if that helps. What I HAVE been doing is using Google Chrome at work. I occasionally have issues with logging in, but not to "re-log in every page change" ordeal I have in Firefox.

    This. Is. Annoying.
  16. I like the concept in general, I really do... but I have two problems with the set.

First, other than scaling resists and mez protection (and the tier-9), there's no defense, no resistance, no +HP and no +regen. This secondary will get people dead, fast. I understand that the secondary is geared for damage, damage and more damage (+recovery, +recharge, +damage TOGGLE... check), but damage mitigation in this set will be WORSE than what Fire armor has to offer... which leads me to my other problem with the set.

The second problem is... what niche does this set cover that others do not? Fire is pretty much THE set for MORE damage LESS mitigation. Few find the set viable (though that's debatable), but one thing nearly everyone would agree on is that Fire is squishy. Other than concept (which I really like BTW), what does this set do that Fire does not? I still like the concept, I just think it needs to actually be a tad more survivable and have more of it's own niche before it could/can get implemented.

...In that case, I have to bow out. There's simply no way I can start a long TF at midnight with work the next day.

    Good luck.

    Update the Bases

On that note, it would be interesting if said raid system progressed in tiers. At first, a couple of weak PPD might go investigating your Fortress o' Evil. After awhile, Longbow starts making regular infiltration attempts. Next thing you know, Positron is blowing up your stuff.

As a courtesy, it would also be nice if the raids came with a warning. "Enemy forces have tripped your alarm" or something, to give you enough time to rally the troops and get to the base. It would certainly suck if the base was half trashed by the time anyone got there.

Anyways, I'm always in favor of new base stuff, so I'm unconditionally /signed on adding some more items, especially interactive ones. As for NPCs...I'd set up a custom mob system akin to AE, but replacing Powers with Functions. Instead of scaling the number of Functions by difficulty, scale them by price (IE, if you want more functions on one NPC, you'l have to pay more per month). As for Power/Control costs...Hm...

    Maybe have some differant options?

Robot/Golem - High Power cost, low Control cost.
Butler/Servant - Low Power cost, high Control cost.

Since obviously a person doesn't run on electricity/mana, a Power cost makes very little sense. However Control is a far more abstract concept which can be interpreted in whatever way you please. In contrast, a machine or magical construct would require much Power to function, but being of limited, pre-programmed intelligence is fairly simple to control.

In any case, this is just my thoughts on the matter. Overall, I'm always greatly in favor of adding more to the base system, as it seems to be one of the most unloved parts of the game in terms of updates...
To expand on that idea, maybe the "invasion" could actually use something similar to the event invasion code... i.e. the more SG members online, the greater the threat to the base would be.

What be equally (if not more) amazing would be the ability to use the critter creator to have your own, custom faction(s) invade.

    <sigh> I'm pipe-dreaming now...

I know the devs have been grinding on GR for over a year, so there's a high likelihood something will happen with bases. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I want something good to come out of bases.

Sure, they are nice for storing items, crafting, and transportation, but there have been several threads on the Base Construction boards with suggestions about new functional items, decorative items, etc. Hopefully the devs have been using some of those suggestions as a basis for improvements. If not, I won't help but feel disappointed.
This. A thousand times this. I, like many builders, spend countless hours getting the base to look just so, and then we do... what? If you don't use the base to congregate for "meetings," there's really nothing to do or see outside of crafting, storage and travel.

Hopefully you'll be able to pick a different time/date, as I'll have to bow out if you aren't STARTING until midnight in the middle of the week.
  23. 8pm or so, though willing to fudge the time a bit if needed.
  24. I was thinking of starting up and taking on a Synapse TF tonight and thought I'd check here before combing through the TW's. Anyone interested? I'd probably want to get going 8-ish eastern time, but am completely flexible.

Obviously this is a bit short-notice, but hopefully enough need the badge/merits/xp/whatever... So who's with me?!
