  1. I'm hoping my problem is a straightforward one, but for the life of me, I don't see what the cause of my crashes might be. I've turned my graphics way down to help, but the relief is minimal at best.

For the last month or so (ever since upgrading to Win7), I've been having relatively frequent crashes and can't seem to figure out why. The pattern I've seen is that it almost always occurs while zoning and usually happens every other mission. I notice an increased likelihood of crashing when teaming (though that might be in my head) and OFTEN crash when trying to access the MA editor.

Anyone know what might be up? I've included the COH Helper info below, but let me know if y'all need any other info.

  4. Yeah, really only ever thought of the power as an end recovery power. Plus, since you have to get into melee to use it (on a blaster), it can be tricky. Now... get into melee range, use Burst THEN Energy Drain... woohoo! Yeah... really want a PBAoE KD power on a blaster.
  5. Here's the link for all Marvel animated films: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Animation

You're right, there are a good number less animated films for Marvel than DC... but on the other hand there are MANY more Marvel animated TV shows than DC... and don't even start in on the film comparisons.

    Anyway, hope the link helps!

Oh, also for DC, there's Batman: Enter the Red Hood. It JUST arrived today from Netflix, so I know nothing about it... but I've heard good things.

Pfft, Mental Manipulation already does this (sorta) with Psi Scream and Drain Psyche... and I don't think any Energy Shielders rely on Energy Drain for the heal (though I could be wrong).
  7. Actually, I really like that idea. There are enough thematic powers in other sets to make this work, without having to reinvent anything. Here's what I'd see the set being:

    1. Quick Strike
    2. Body Blow
    3. Siphon Power - Self-Buff version
    4. Smashing Blow
    5. Siphon Speed
    6. Energy Cloak
    7. Energy Drain
    8. Burst
    9. Concentrated Strike

Hah... I figured some/many would have that reaction, but... here was my thought process (woo hoo, behold my mind!):

The Surviving 8 were the logical heroes to choose from, but then you have a question of power THEME issues. So who/what do we have to choose from?

    • Statesman - We can't access LR on Villains so... no for "equality" reasons.
    • Sister Psyche - Mind/FF (probably not all that different from options set out in Numina)
    • Manticore - Used him because he's natural and has a bow... which no other EPP has.
    • Positron - Radiation would be cool (I even started with him in place of Woodsman), but there are few melee powers and NO defensive powers yet.
    • Numina - Used to fill the psi hole in tanks/scrappers/blasters' epics.
    • Citadel - Power blast/mastery is basically already available in the APPs.
    • Back Alley Brawler - Offers very little variety for melee ATs.
    • Synapse - Used him to fill the electric hole in tanks/scrappers/controllers.
As far as the Vindicators are concerned, MOST suffer from the same "we already have this in the APPs" issues the Freedom Phalanx does. Woodsman is the one exception where MOST of his powers don't exist in any Epic form at the moment.

So yeah... that's why Woodsman (plus I love the character, he's SO underused).

    Quote:
Does this mean I get to beat them up and steal their powers?
Because that's how villains do it
My thought was that it was an actual training to be like them... perhaps even have the badges associated be something like "Honorary Vindicator" or "Sidekick of X."

Haha... as I am currently playing through Megaman 10 on the PS3... that's awesome. It's true, if you say it like Woods-Man, he's a little corny. If, however, you give it a little accent and say Woodsm'n, he's suddenly exotic and cool! >.>

    Heroic PPPs

I know (hope) that Heroic PPPs are going to be coming down the line at some point, so I thought it would be fun to toss around a few ideas on what they might look like. Interestingly enough, there are a few complications that villains don't have to deal with.

First of all, Arachnos has such a clear chain of command, the Patrons make perfect sense being who they are. Heroes though... who exactly should the four be? Random picks from the Surviving Eight? What about power themes? What thematic voids are present in the APPs that a Patron Pool might fill? Below are my suggestions (yes, one of them is Woodsman), but what do YOU think they would be? What do you think of the ones presented?

    Ultimate powers

Add to that they'll have to come out with new power combinations for EVERY powerset they release/proliferate in the future. I like the general idea, but... I'm thinking that's a bit more complex than it needs to be.

Personally, now that both sides have access to "extend your own theme" APPs, it makes more sense to have "powers granted by signature NPCs" PPPs for both sides, for balance-sake alone.

While I don't mind the origins idea for pools, I just don't see how it would be that different to the APPs we have now, which can already be RP'd to fit any origin.

    Just my 2 cents.

Edit: So as not to completely hijack this thread, I posted what I had been thinking for Heroic PPPs here.

Bonus question: If you're going to kill Jean Grey off for the 34th time, could you not also get rid of her deus ex machina, Phoenix, at the same time? That's my HOPE.
I see what you did there...

    Mids

http://www.cohplanner.com/ The program itself is pretty intuitive, but the forum should answer most questions you might have.
  16. 1. Are you male or female?

    Male

    2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)?

Controllers and Tankers mostly, followed closely by Defenders and Dominators. I like being able to control/manipulate vast numbers of enemies at the same time... to the point where I have a problem playing ANYTHING single-target heavy.

    3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above?

Almost exclusively blueside. There are a few arcs or SFs I like villainside, but I can't stand the atmosphere.

    4. What are your favorite story arcs?

Anything that feels out of the ordinary. The Eden Trial, despite being relatively simple story-wise, has a HUGE scale that I really love.

    5. What makes you like this game?

The ability to create my own characters and story and to interact with others who love to do the same.

    6. What other games do you play?

Mostly FPS's on my PC and one-on-one fighters on the PS3.

    7. How long have you been playing?

    6 years

    8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?

20-30 alts, about half of which are at L50, the rest are 30-ish.

    9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use?

Yes, yes, and yes... sometimes. It depends on how invested I am in a character and if all of that work will actually pay off. I DO love to theoretically IO out a character in Mids though, just to see what COULD be possible. My difficulty settings depend on the character, but my tanks all run at +1/x8

I know it FEELS like most movies these days are remakes, but that's not really true... just take a look at the actual list of movies from this year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_in_film Heck, 7 of the 10 top grossing films this year are originals (or sequels).

As to the movie itself, having been a fan of the original Swedish film (and its slow-burning buildup), I have to say... I was a big fan of this too. While it was a little-Hollywood-ized (more gore, more action, overall MORE) it still kept (mostly) to the very simplistic feel of the first. The tone and relationships in the American version I felt were a bit better. I actually understood why some characters were acting the way they were. I had an actual FEEL for the fact this was set in the 80s, whereas the Swedish film... I never picked up on that.

The CG stuff in this film... <sigh> I had the same problem I had with it in the Swedish film (especially the cats). It was just too over the top and notably unreal. Overall though, I really think this film is one of the rare exceptions to the tragedy that is typical of American-remakes.

I love that TA put such a massive list together, but it can be really hard to figure out who matches your needs/interests from the information provided.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to take commissions (see link below for examples of work and pricing). Shoot me a PM if you'd like to talk further. If not, good luck on finding your artist!

    Sorcery Set

Two alternative suggestions to the OP on the static nature of the first two powers:

    1) Make the powers auras that move with the caster. If you want to place a limitation on them, maybe make each slow the movements of the caster slightly, stacking based on how many "arcane circles" you have activated. This somewhat keeps in the concept (thusfar), but fits the faster-paced nature of the game.

    2) OR make the powers a summon to location toggle. That is, you can summon the psuedo-pet anywhere in range (like Spirit Tree), but it only remains active while you have the toggle active (like Rad Emission). This at the very least allows you to dynamically place your powers where they will do the most good in a given situation.

Overall, I do like what you've shown thusfar, I just think that the very dynamic nature of team play and the danger of knockback negating EVERYTHING you do in the first two powers hinders the concept that we've seen thusfar.

    Sorcery Set

Sigh... you got me excited that this was an ACTUAL set coming in i19 or 20... still, cool look.
  22. Very, VERY interested in this, should it come to the light of day.
  23. Personally, I like the OP's suggestions (but this is true of almost ANY proposed buffs to PBs). My biggest current gripes are the KB of Solar Flare (a reduced KB would be an okay-ish compromise, but I'd prefer it to be a carbon copy of the Dwarf version) as well as Proton Scatter. It would be GREAT if it has a stun component like the WS version. At least in that case we'd be able to leverage Pulsar a bit better.

Overall, PBs are certainly better than they were, but are still the weakest performers of the EATs atm... at least from my vantage point, even if my lvl 50 PB is also my favorite (I like underdogs).

I ran a Fire/Ice Tank on GR Test... with the changes to FE and Burn, the combination of Ice Patch + FE + Burn + FA is just... ridiculous. If you can get over some of Fire's holes (which admittedly Shield has a lot less of), it also makes for an impressive damage tank.
