My brother and I do this all the time! Only when we're in a team, though. There's no point typing that out if there's no actual person there to enjoy it.
Much like other posters, I do respond in my head when solo. I agree with Sam. When I'm compelled to reply, either in-game, or in my head, it proves I'm really in the moment! -
Quote:The only people getting "ripped off" are the people who want to get ripped off. No one is paying anything they can't afford.I have two words for you guys who are doing this and it isn't "Good Morning"
I was wondering do any of you guys work for the US govt? Stop with the retarded forced inflation. Get over yourselves and stop ripping people off. Thanks.
While I don't agree with this type of marketeering, it really isn't a big deal in the long run. There's room for everyone here. Try not to take this type of thing personally. -
Quote:Yeah, PvP IO's don't have enough benefit for their cost. However...6+ years of people killing stuff.
Since there aren't really any good money sinks in the game, it just keeps piling up.
If there aren't ever any good money sinks ever introduced, it will eventually cost you 2 billion inf to buy anything worth buying.
The gap between the obscenely rich and dirt poor is just going to keep growing. Unfortunately, I'm in the latter category, since I have limited play time these days, and I don't want to spend what little time I DO have to play marketeering or farming.
I basically pretend purples and PvP IOs don't even exist when I build a character, saves me a lot of frustration because I'll never be able to afford enough of them to outfit a character. I can slowly put together builds with some of the other high-dollar stuff, but there's no way I'm paying 200m+ for ONE recipe. I can put together most of a build for that budget, it just seems stupid to drop that much on one IO and then have to do the same for the other 4.
Thanks to the lack of money sinks allowing prices to skyrocket, the casual player either has to farm, play the market, or do without. Because they sure as hell aren't going to be getting that stuff the "normal" way.
My girlfriend and I play for 1-2 hours on random weekdays (usually Thursday and/or Friday), then a whole lot on Saturdays, and a little bit on Sundays. I consider us relatively casual. Once I finally nagged her into putting just a little more time to the market, 10-20 minutes of playtime each session, she earned 300 million in her first 3 days. We run 3-5 ticket farm missions a week. We only pick ones that are fun, too. No reason to repeat the same 1 mission 800 times if you hate it. Granted, this is not the only way to make money, but it's a nice way to get some superpowered action while you earn.
"It's this easy?!"
"Yes, it is."
"I should have started this earlier!"
We run fun missions, and get expensive rewards. All the while never ignoring all the other content out there (GR, and the revamped PI arcs ftw!). Try the Market, Claws. Everyone can win! -
So it's my stupid quirk that's killing my motivation. I've forced myself to BUY NOW on salvage, and crafting has (of course) become less of a chore. I don't mind waiting for recipes, but once I have that sucker, I want to create it! Now that I'm weaning myself off of that mental hang-up, things have eased.
I couldn't bring myself to spend precious tickets on salvage rather than recipes, though. It's just bad economy in the long run.
This is one of those cases where "Suck it up, n00b!" has actually worked on me. Thanks guys! -
Costume slots.
Costume pieces/weapons normally tied to badges (I hate waiting for those ITF pieces).
Power customization/animation options.
"Gold plated diamond encrusted engraved cane" temp power, or "Throw Money" emote. -
I have Abyssnaught, my fish-man. He's an Earth/Rad controller where the Earth is colored like coral, and Radiation is colored to look like water.
My main created way back in October of '04 was based on a character concept that pre-dates this game. The only problem was that his Energy blasts were blue, and not green. I got to fix that when this feature was finally added. -
Quote:Stop with this insanity! It removes an INF sink? You mean giving me the ability to adjust and edit many more costumes at an INF cost will remove an INF sink?It removes a money sink. Not every player has dozens of costume tokens, vet discounts or day job badges. Any money sink in this game is desirable.
Sorry to basically repeat you, Bill, but it's worth repeating.
To the original suggestion: I think it's a fine addition moving forward, but I have to thumbs-down retroactive additions. -
Quote:The bolded sums up my little quirk pretty well. It's mostly because of this that I get fed up with crafting.I've never used base storage for invention salvage, and I virtually never use the vault system either. I just buy whatever I need, either at a buy-it-within-fifteen-minutes price, or a buy-it-now-price, or I put in an overnight bid and go on to something else.
My buy-it-now prices usually have caps though. I rarely spend more than 100,000 for common salvage, although I'll easily fork over 50,000 to 75,000. If the price climbs to 200,000 or above I'll use tickets or bid overnight. Similarly, I'm happy paying 2 million for almost any rare salvage, but I don't think I should ever pay more than 3 million (which I did a few times this weekend). It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that I don't want to pay that much.
Quote:Tickets ?
If you feel its to expensive you have tickets, if the price isn't high enough to make it worthwhile to use tickets its obviously not too expensive.
I just need to try and get over my quirk, I guess. It's the most convenient way, and my laziness is top priority. -
Quote:Wow. Biggest bummer in this thread so far!I deleted a level 40 natural scrapper named "Trenchant" when CoV came out, because I thought his concept would work much better in that area-- a more-or-less "good" guy fighting ruthlessly for the underprivileged. Paragon had too many heroes around to justify the hard tactics he's used, so figured the Rogue Isles would be perfect.
In the 30 seconds that the character was deleted and rerolled, the name was unavailable.
I re-rolled a character "The Utopian" when GR hit because he just belongs in Praetoria. My girlfriend offered to wait at character creation so she parked the name oon as as I deleted. Then I rolled him up, got to the name screen, and she deleted right before I recreated him.
I'm glad my paranoia was apparently justified. -
Does anyone else get so fed up collecting salvage for their recipes that they quit crafting? I've amassed almost all the Thunderstrikes I need for my Blaster, but I just get so fed up going through my vault, SG storage, and the Market that I put off crafting for days.
Aside from the too many storage sources, I just can't stand some of the prices on select pieces of salvage. It's not that I can't afford it, mind you. Spending millions on some common salvage just goes against my principles, so I have to wait days to get it at a reasonable price.
I know that's the reality of the Market, but <whine>I want my uber build now!</whine>
Does anyone have any pointers in maintaining patience? Every once in awhile I spend the BUY NOW price, but I feel dirty afterwards... -
I love my invincible Phantom Army, but your post motivates me to make a Gravity something.
Seriously great post. Thanks for the inspiration! -
On the one Toggle to Rule Them all:
How do you decide what toggles you want to go off? Using Stone as an example, I don't always want to run the my Psi shield. What if I don't want Orbiting Death to go off on my Warshade? One problem gets replaced with another, and we'll get threads requesting that they all get separated again.
I admit it's a smaller issue to turn off a few offending toggles than turn on all of them, but we have people complaining about Fitness becoming inherent for crap's sake. -
I19 is giving Fitness to everyone, thus encouraging more powers diversity (in theory, I forsee a lot more Leadership).
So with that in mind, I think they are developing more powers for every set. Much like with Kheldians opening up usually 2 powers per tier, all other AT's will get similar treatment.
It's a crazy theory, but it would be pretty cool. -
No humanform buff necessary. All forms benefit from this change equally.
However as stated before, it looks like Peacebringers are the real winners amongst Kheldians in this one. Not saying that it's not useful for Warshades, but I won't play mine any differently. -
Quote:Keep one e-mail, and reply to it. Even easier than Copy-Paste.You can also copy and paste in game using Control+C to copy, and Control+V to paste. Useful in places where the scrolling up option doesn't work; I use it fairly often when mailing items between characters so I don't need to retype my global name a dozen times.

Quote:It is WAI. Their script (as in what they say) is busted, but their behavior is completely intended. I imagine the idea is they are invested in some illegal activity, and are running since they are "caught".As has been pointed out the dialogue often does NOT indicate that at all.
Oftens they say stuff like they are going to fight you.
Also unless I'm mistaken at certain points the mob ran just by Leo's character walking close to him.
This surely can't be WAI. Sorry.
good job again Leo
EDIT: Also this:
"Note: even if it is scripted... why? I can see a good reason for one in the group to run away if they were facing a big group or a player several levels above him... but 4 vs. 1, and two levels above me? Does not sound like a very smart script. It would also make more sense if the runner was of a different gang (his Hellion buddies won't think very high of him now), or if he ran into a door to get help. The "Hellion Girlfriend" script in The Hollows is a lot better."
Even if it is WAI it's bloody stupid.
We can all agree it's bloody stupid, but aside from what they say, it's normal. -

Quote:You're missing something, but it's not "extremely" obvious. You can pick a feline face, and cat ears, there's just not a monstrous head that's obviously a cat. You can even have an animated cat tail, and "monstrous" clawed hands.OK I LOVE this game for the versatility in creating a character... hell its fun just to do that over and over again... but is anyone else disappointed that you can make a werewolf but not a werecat? I was kinda disappointed when I figured that out.
Guess its not so much a question, but looking for people to commiserate... or inform me that I'm missing something extremely obvious :-)
You can do it! Go do it! -
Quote:His powers are explained away because he's powered by our sun. Fine! He travels light-years away from the sun that gives him powers in a ship that barely contained him as an toddler in the first film.Your disbelief suspended by the ship issue?! Really?! You do realize you're talking about super hero movies here. You take no issue with the man being able to fly etc but you take issue with his ship?! He could have modified it! He could have made stops along the way! Yikes. NEXT!
So maybe I went too far claiming it pushed my suspencion of disbelief. I'm not on a crusade...it's just one of those "WTF?" moments. The rest of us are having fun, maybe you'd like to join in? -

Quote:You are applying your toggles to bosses/tough enemies right? You aren't necessarily using every toggle on one target, right? So I made a fire/rad and he is at lvl 26. Although I do enjoy him I find my toggles constantly get killed in teams and it is taking away from the fun of the game. So now I'm looking to make an alt I'd like a good dps character that also has group utility but less annoying that fire/rad with loss of toggles. I'm thinking a fire/kin controller or even a robot/forcefield mastermind. I'm a complete noob though and have no idea how these heroes would actually work.
A fire/kin controller will likely disappoint you since they are late-bloomers. Go with some kind of Dominator since you can get damage and control. You get your group utility in the form of crowd control rather than buffs/debuffs.
Your Mastermind idea is a great one, though. -
Oh, you definitely want to make a Contro...Scrapper? Hmm...
Well, that's a good pairing for a Scrapper since your primary reduces ToHit, and that effectively boosts up your Shield Defense. How that makes it specifically group-oriented, I can't really say for sure. Perhaps the ToHit Debuff?* I'd go for something that reduces the enemy's Defense, myself.
A fun group-oriented AT would be a Controller in my book. Practically anything goes, but an Illusion/Force Field is invincible in a team. Your damage will be nearly non-existant (solo is really tough), but I have one and love it.
EDIT: Oh, how could I forget Grant Cover?! I still don't think that turns a Scrapper into a "group-oriented" AT, though. -
Am I the only one that likes this bug? When I tell my ninjas "no witnesses" they take me very seriously!
