Very few will argue with that. What stops you from eventually becoming judge, jury, and executioner? What happens when the justice system lets out a serial killer you put away, and he kills again? What about if someone targets your family?

Can you keep your temper in check forever? Sometimes the law isn't always right. Are you going to fly over to other countries, and enforce your rules on their culture?

I'm not sure you see the entire picture. Supervillains wouldn't call themselves that, they'd call themselves heroes.

Very well done. That's a broad enough scope that you can burn anyone you want, and tell the public that they were "Bad people harming innocent people."

You can be a tyrant yet.

Define "bad guys", GG. I suspect you are just as likely to become a tyrant as any one of us. For example: I'd try to create a live-and-let-live society where all ignorant intolerances would be punishable. I'm super-powered, so I can afford to be a hypocrite...

I'm not foolish enough to think that absolute power wouldn't have any effect on me.

    AR/Dev - CRISIS

I've noticed some old stigmas are returning with some of the returning players (not just AR users).

On my Energy/Devices Blaster, I have a Guassian's Chance for Buildup in my Targeting Drone. Sure, it's random, but my overall damage has really jumped.

Try it out on your AoE monster, and you'll see some pretty cool results.
  5. I have very reliable source* that says that all 9 of these employees were stealing desks and bathroom fixtures during off-hours for months before they were caught by the confused contractor that had to replace a toilet for the 4th time.

The "laid off" talk is just to avoid headlines reading "Paragon Employees Gone Rogue!" They don't need that kind of bad press for their new product.

    *My imagination

My theory is just as credible as any of the others floating around in these threads. I'll really miss BaB too, but there's no reason to get out the pitchforks, or expect Paragon to fold. It's business as usual.

My heart goes out to the recent lay-offs.

    Oh, wait a minute...

    Time Stamps

In before "Shouldn't the devs focus on content?" whine!

I'm all for this. If for nothing else, but figuring out if it's worth responding to the invite/tell I got from god-knows-when while working on a costume.

    Patch Notes for 10/07/2010

    City of Heroes changes:
    • Statesman got died. Find out that Nemesis did it in a new TF!
    City of Villains changes:
    • Recluse dieded too.
    Praetoria changes:
    • None
Also, no more semi-colons for you, mister.
  8. No one will argue that it actually happens. I think I've seen it once or twice on Liberty.

The issue is that people who run teams like that should be shot out of a cannon.

It's about time for an all Storm/NRG Defender MoSTF! Who's with me?!

How arrogant and dismissive. I wish you had read my entire post. No part of it was human-hating.

Back to the real discussion now...

EDIT: My real problem is editing my quote to include "blah...blah...blah..." and completely ignoring what I had to say. I will admit that I agree with your sentiments, but your complete lack of character is infuriating.
  10. This planet is much too far away (although very close by galactic standards*) for us to seriously consider some sort of expedition within any of our lifetimes. The distinct possibility of no natural shielding from radiation would pretty much crap on any terraforming notions, too. Mars is practically impossible just due to this.

It does raise some puzzling moral questions, however. Imagine there is life there, but not intelligent by means immediately measurable by humans? We've really turned some ecosystems on our own planet upside down from our ignorance, but that's excusable to a certain degree because we belong here. Rocketing off to some other world, and accidentally tromping through some alien creature's brain is really disturbing to me.

A near-dead Red Dwarf is beyond comprehension. The universe itself is only about 13 billion years old.

*Please consider that our galaxy is about 100,000 light-years wide.
  11. After reading this entire thread, I really don't understand the strong feelings on either side.

For one, it's an MMO, and teaming is certainly heavily implied, even if not explicitly stated.

For two, what possible harm comes from the ability to solo TF's? I personally don't think it will make TF teams that scarce, considering how many still team for the Ouroboros ones.

To me this seems to get summed up in "If it aint broke, why fix it?" You can easily wrangle up some people to pad, and the idiots Billz so aptly posited are still protected from their defective brains.

The only thing I really feel passionately about is this: Contractions are abbreviated by apostrophes, not semi-colons.

Of course those that disagree with me on any point are trolls...

"Hrm, still no. Well, nobody should be listing these over 500k, so I'll just try 515k. I just want to slot this character and get back to playing."

    ...

"You're kidding me [Gehnen Edit:] you greedy little punks. Hell with it. 1M each, I'm done here."
That's me, now. I used to creep in insanely small increments, or wait to get a good price. I posted my quirk here on these forums, and the consensus was basically "Why wait?"

Now I do the above, and got my Blaster range-capped in one afternoon. I'll get stingy where it still counts, but when I'm want to craft, I'm not waiting for salvage.
  13. All costume unlocks. I don't want to grind 30+ levels to finally match a character concept.

If it becomes a fight, then capes & auras can remain level restricted (I guess).
  14. My mother always said it was the intention of the word, not the word itself. So screaming at my sister, "Shut the freaking door!" was just as punishable as the word it was replacing. It showed a lack of respect.

She also felt that cussing could be appropriate...I never got in trouble for yelling an expletive for stubbing my toe, or accidentally hitting my thumb with a hammer.

She also had an extreme distaste for violence of any kind. She was middle-aged before she began to appreciate action movies.

I understand the "European" perspective, and the American attitude towards language, sexuality, and violence seems a bit strange to me even though I've been here my entire life.
  15. I'm currently enjoying my Peacebringer more than my Warshade, and we can all agree that certainly defies logic.

Also, my lvl 45 Emp/Rad Defender can't solo an AV. I just realized that makes him obsolete (even though he's knee-deep in invites before my screen is even loaded*).

*Funny, I heard Empathy Defenders are "obsolete" in late-game. It seems most players haven't subscribed to "WTF?ATENVY" newsletter, or realized they could MAKE THEIR OWN.

    Cold vs FF

I guess I didn't say enough. I do also greatly appreciate the mez protection, and 100% melee mitigation.

So it's a one-trick pony... so is Super Reflexes, and I don't hear people complaining over and over about that. In fact, I don't hear people saying, "Energy Aura is way better than SR because it has utility powers!" Most people consider EA rather weak*, even though it's a bit more well-rounded.

In fact...let's do this: "Cold is better than Radiation because it has debuffs and DEF buffs!" See how far that gets you.

Cold is cool (HA!), no doubt. I just still think there is room for both.

*EA probably does need some tweaks.
  17. Gehnen

    Cold vs FF

    Oh boy, here we go...

I generally prefer to play FF, since it's practically Buff'n'Forget. It may not be flashy, but I can focus on my blasting/controlling more.

I still think there's room for both even without FF getting tweaked, and I wouldn't deny either a slot on my team.

    Halloween 2010?

I'd be happy if all we got was tweaked Banner Raids. The GM that spawns is a bit of a pushover. I don't want him to be on Lord Winter scales, but sometimes he's down before I can even get to him! Also more zone-wide direction would be good, so we see less "Who's on blue?".

Halloween is my favorite in-game event. I'm still not at all tired of Trick-or-Treating!

Oh, I was fully aware it was an exploit. It's just an amusing little anecdote I wanted to add.

I'm glad you explicitely stated it that it was bannable offense, though. That's something I should have done.

You have read these forums before, right? You have seen the PvP outside of zones ideas before? And what happened to them, with good reason?
I did see PvP outside of the zones! Blasters would go to Recluse's Victory, and get someone to apply a confuse to them. Then they would go back to Atlas Park and Nova under the statue or by Ms. Liberty.

If it's flagged versus flagged, it sounds like a system employed in the MMO I left for this one. I think PvP zones are fine, even if the system itself needs tweaking.

Other than that I switch out of human only if I join a group. Too common to have your target killed out from under you while you are arcing back to contact.
Get some -KB IO's, seriously. If you find them to be too expensive on the Market, just run some tip missions and buy them with A-Merits.

I only have 4 points protection (so far) and very rarely do I get hammered around.
  22. ((LOL...Oh wow. This is so much better than I had hoped!))

With Herculian effort, Gehnen...passes...the alien metal and temporal anomoly at the same time, thus releasing him from his trap. The anomoly grows weaker as well. His wounds immediately heal through the power of love that the entire world has for him.

Shrugging off the weakest pimp-slap the world has ever seen (as marked by the Guiness Book of World Records judge that happened to be present), Gehnen joins in the zombiehead soccer match and wins. Obligo promises to be best friends with Gehnen forever, and gives him the ever-sharp sword to prove it.
  23. ((Do it, Techbot! Consider it revenge on the n00bles who have tried to legitimately do it. Do something outrageously stupid for the lulz. I do agree it can be a little cringe-worthy as you will soon see.))

...except Gehnen who realized Obligo's sword was Rayelian Chocolate. In a flash of light and pleasant man-scent, Gehnen takes a huge bite of Obligo's sword. The Rayelian Chocolate imbues Gehen with super-stretching ability. He quickly retrieves his underpants, punching through the ceiling using his new power. He then spikes them into the ground like a football.

The underpants explode in a cloud of pink smoke, and as the smoke fades everyone is in awe when they finally realize what appears.
  24. ((I want to see the worst, most horrible RP no-no's (within PG rules, of course) in one great thread. Mary Sue's, all sorts of meta, and god-moding are more than welcome.

Do everything in your power and imagination to screw up the poster before you, with 3 rules: Keep this within Pocket D, try to keep the posts short, and don't RP someone into non-existance so they can continue to participate if they want to. The funnier and more outrageous the better!))

Gehnen walks into Pocket D, wading through the crowd of women who all inevitably beg him to dance. He hand-waves them away to drop 17 million in cash on DJ Zero so he will play "Strawberry Fields Forever".

"Yes sir, Gehnen, sir," says DJ Zero, kowtowing before Gehnen's muscular 8'9" frame. Gehnen dismisses the cowering man by tapping him on the shoulder with his jewel encrusted golden cane.

"Let the party begin!" Gehnen roars, and begins to dance to his favorite Beatles song so well that everyone weeps at the beauty of it.
