...and if you happen to already be softcapped, it's great insurance when you've been debuffed. They may knock your DEF down a tad, but that -tohit stays on.

I don't understand the "just get tactics!" squad. Sure, it buffs the whole team, but the freaking Endurance cost stinks when all you want to do endlessly dish out the damage (yes, even with Stamina). It's one of those things that works on paper, but is less than optimal for actual play.

    Also, spinning lasers are cool.
  2. I wonder if the commonality of generosity has to do with the fact that this is a superhero game, and it just attracts the types of people who are willing to give and be a part of a community.

Yes, City of Villains counts since it attracts the comic do-gooders as well as virtual hooligans.
  3. I have a few reasons...
    1. Downing an EB with nothing but a minefield is awesome.
    2. Smoke Grenade allows me to basically raise the defense of my entire team. Couple that with Cloaking Device, and I can stealth through most mobs in the game.
    3. Web Grenade is a pretty hefty -recharge, even when the immobilize doesn't catch. I just toss it twice on bosses to stop them.
    4. The area denial impact of Caltrops is amazing. With a range-capped blaster (I know this isn't the norm), keeping everything out of melee is basically god-mode.
    5. Gun Drone can take some of the aggro that I don't want, and deal a little bit of damage to boot.
    6. Targetting Drone is amazing...forget Build Up. I can constantly hit my target as long as this toggle is running. CoT ghosts, and +1's mean absolutely nothing to me. Burst damage for 10 seconds is very highly overrated when you consider "never" missing. Of course you could just put the Gaussian's proc in this power like I did.
I've never understood why Devices is so unloved, honestly. I imagine it's just under-utilized since it's so unlike other secondaries. I do agree that Time-Bomb is pretty much useless for a good percentage of the population (but to those that make it work...thumbs-up!).

    I've never used Taser
  4. The guy that introduced me to the game paid for all of my enhancements up to level 25. Back then (2004) that was a lot of inf.

I do my best to pass that along. Earlier during the winter event, a poor newbie wanted to team with me and my currently SG-only team. I gave him a pretty big sum of money to ease the sting a little.
  5. My girlfriend sometimes gets bored on her DB/Elec Scrapper because it's so unkillablely godlike.

I don't have a DB character myself, but hearing that confession from her made me want to roll one up on the spot!

Good to know, I just wanted to be honest!

Someone has to know if I can tell this as an epic tale or not. I can't let my brother lord his godly Kinetics/Electric Defender over me!

Of course, when we team these two up, things get really nasty for whatever we're facing. I'm sure others do this too, but we call Fulcrum Shift + Nova "Supernova". Even bosses stay down after that sucker goes off and it's glorious!

    Brag-worthy?

I was home sick 2 days last week. Naturally this is a boring and miserable experience that I wanted to make a bit fun. I decided to solo the Silos TF with my Energy/Devices Blaster.

I can't describe myself as a powergamer, so I don't know if this is really any kind of meritable accomplishment. I beat that thing in a little over 2 hours, with 3 defeats* (even though the report at the end said "0"). I only fought EB's, and didn't use any debuff challenges.

I know I'm opening myself up for ridicule, but I have to know if I can brag about this or not!

*1 defeat was for an ambush I wasn't prepared for, 2 versus Ghost Widow. The end time would have been shorter if I hadn't gotten up to warm my tea so much.
  8. Funny stuff! Of course, the best real way to avoid wife aggro is to get her to play!

    It worked for me
  9. What would that do to his regen numbers?

The only issue is endurance (which I think I've cured in my latest Mids build, which will be posted in the Blaster section in a few minutes), and defense, which is generally taken care of by making sure your team has solid aggro control from a Tank (or three).
Heck yeah, this! So much fun, but I'll repeat that a team is almost necessary. Mine is level 22, and I already feel godlike.

I interpreted this as regarding Paragon/NC employees. The post-GR layoffs that included BaB, Castle gone as of 2011, and most recently The Ocho.

lulz @ "teh game is dieing!"

People change jobs. No DOOM necessary, and the game is not dying.

*"Free" games aren't. They use microtransactions to keep the game alive. I don't want to pay for powers, zones, Task/Strike forces, supergroups, levels, enhancements, inspirations...

    Personal Comics

The only suggestion I have is that your character really needs to be in some sort of action pose, or battle. Something needs to convey your character's personality, and at the same time make people say, "Ooooh!".
  14. I've seen this behavior for years, but I can't comment on it being a bug or working as intended. To be honest, I've always figured this is on purpose.
  15. "Jump on defeated Freakshow to keep them from rezzing."

Sometimes it's as specific as jumping on their heads.

Yeah, getting HURT by falling isn't un-heroic. Actually dying from fall damage is un-heroic. Even Superman gets hurt, he said so himself (he even said it was easy to hurt him). Lasting damage...now that's the challenge.

But his idea lends to the notion that we may be able to share our created Aspects with other players. Using this system, you could also test out playing your custom critters, or approximating how it would be to play as a...Gunslinger (I dunno, first that came up). It also doesn't necessarily have to be strict AT combos as Biospark first intended, but could indeed include mix/match sets for skips and giggles.

It's nicely open-ended, where a "Make me 50!" button on Test is kinda boring.

Seriously glad to hear it worked out Circe. Good to know there are decent players out there willing to lend a hand, too.

    LOL

Is that on a Scrapper? I would prefer it for my DP/Trick Arrow Corruptor "Agent Redraw". I can get 6 trillion in a jiffy, but it might annoy Chaos Creator even more.
  21. I don't like anything too sexy or exciting when I'm sick, so I usually take a trip down memory lane. If you're at all like me, pick a childhood favorite from your collection and nostalgia yourself into a nice healing nap.

    Nostalgia as a verb FTW!
  22. Don't land on ground lower than your take-off point. Success!

The damage is mostly trivial, but I understand your overall point. It just doesn't happen to bother me enough to add some kind of damage to the other powers.

I'd sig' that if I could, Joe.
  24. My first thought was "Why didn't I think of that?" so the concept is secure. My OCD <twitch> has an issue with the Natural origin, but that shouldn't stop you...it may not even stop me!

IO's really won't help you much when it comes to Mez resistance. Definitely get a -KB IO, though. My suggestion is to play like a Blapper, and you'll do great.

But with you saying you're working on builds. there's more to it than just defense. There's which one has the better regen, resists, and other things.
Thanks, I think you actually understood what I was getting at. I just couldn't seem to communicate it. Part of it is that most folks are reading only 1/3rd of my posts, or 1/3rd of the posts total.

For example Sailboat quoted me, and said that slots are a concern, when in that very same post he quoted, I said:

I was hoping for a little more robust discussion about defense types rather than nit-picking, but I think that's primarily my fault for my presentation.

Also thanks for alerting me to other survivability metrics, but I really am aware. My pie-in-the-sky project involves Fire/??? Tanker. At first glance, it's ridiculously expensive to softcap, but it really fits my concept. Thankfully it has decent resists, and a fantastic self-heal.

I feel like I sound like a jerk in this post, but after 3 "drafts" I give up! Please just assume I'm not being a jerk
