A Praetorian version of Primal Earth characters should be vastly different, but eerily similar.
That's pretty much it!
For example, my brother has a Kinetics/Electric Defender. His mutant abilities gave him Kinetics, but he got the Electric powers from the secret organization he joined. I made a Praetorian version of him, a Kinetics/Electric Brute. Powers have the same origin, for the same reason...but a vastly different character. -
Judging from the broadcast chat, I've noticed a ton of returning players. I haven't been checking Vet badges, though, so I can't give an accurate word on new players.
For what it's worth, I'm on Liberty. -
Well, you're not giving much to go on, but did make sure your Caps Lock is off?
Did you make sure your login name is yours? It may have a different login saved if multiple people use CoH on the same computer.
...and just to top this off with some good advice, make sure you don't give your login or password to anyone! -
Quote:lol! My mistake!Freedom's a Warshade? Huh, I always figured Virtue would be the one to go for a tentacled archetype.
1st Rule of Virtue: What happens in Virtue stays in Virtue.
2nd Rule of Virtue: Don't go into Pocket D after sundown.
3rd Rule of Virtue: Don't go into Pocket D.
Overall, I think the OP was just trying his best to live up to his name. -
Quote:Wait, WHAT? Your play experience was hampered by numerous crashes, so instead of letting the game verify files and possibly correct problems, you just circumvented the fix?"the proper way" to WHO? Sounds like a design flaw to me: If you want this benefit you MUST run the game in this way!
I have a habit of not using the updater because I used to crash quite a bit, and having to verify files is VERY annoying. The only way I know to skip that is to skip the updater - so it's a design flaw.
But to be honest, I probably wouldn't have downloaded it ahead of time anyway. The download makes my computer run slow and I would have preferred just doing it tomorrow, when I knew the patch was coming out, and I could just run it while I do some thing else. But then they released it early, and here I am being unable to play...
I agree that you should never be expected to read the forums, but using the updater isn't bad design...it's a nice catch-all for the computer inept to get the patches they need to play. It's a standard MMO practice and I love it.
Secondly, I'm not usually a dev apologist, but I imagine threads like this make them just throw their hands up and sigh. "Christmas got bumped up a day, and since no-one told me, I had to shop for a ham today! Bah Humbug!" -

Let me try this edit. Ahem...
"PROOF why I'm glad I'm on a less populous server"
That is all. -

Edit: Beat to the punch. Serves me right to make sure the link worked! -
Quote:1. I have no idea! I still feel like an eater of souls, and have no problem describing my WS as a hero...
Anyway, there are a few things that I can use some help with in terms of Kheldian background.
1. Since we don't kill our enemies as Heroes in COH, what do you think Stygian Circle is doing our defeated opponents? I'm assuming we're drawing on their life force to make ourselves stronger, but what effect does that have on our foes when they recover? (I'm leaning towards them having nightmares at the very least ...)
2. Anyone worked out a good system for coming up with Kheldian/Nictus names? I loved the name of Reqiuem's half-- Dirge of Entropy-- and I have yet to come up with the "Right" name for Shade's Kheldian half.
3. On a non-RP note, just how good are Unchain Essence, Twilight Shield, and Stygian Return? I want to use the human form as much as possible to differentiate the play of my Warshade from my PB.
2. I personally like astronomical, cosmic, or alien names for all Khelds. WS tend to be on the dark side (literally) and PB's are bright. My only PB is "Silver Sol". Some ideas off the top of my head for a WS: Infinite Eclipse, Twilight Knight, Dusk Avenger. These are probably taken, and maybe a little crappy, but you get the idea I'm sure.
3. If you're focusing on human-form, all of those have their uses, with Twilight Shield arguably being the most skip-able. In later levels you'll be too busy tearing things up to focus on a toggle that only does very limited typed resistance. -
Quote:You have an entire 10+ mission arc rewritten for heroes come Tuesday and you had old Posi added to Ouro in i17.Quote:Only masochists enjoy the very repeated defeat alls and unimaginative mission design of blueside content.
That was your point, right? Heroside is lacking and needs attention? -
I love the current animations, but I was the first to suggest alternates in Castles thread. My main reason was to be somewhat diplomatic, as it seems like a worthy cause and figured I could phrase the suggestion without necessarily getting upset.
There's so many things that are easily role-played around, and I personally don't see any issue with a cowboy type superhero shooting the way depicted with Dual Guns. Peacemoon's particular concept problem is the only reason I see this argument having any real merit, but that's merit nonetheless. Just to be my own devil's advocate, I will say there are other causes perhaps more worthy of the animators' time. I want to see Power Pool customization first, but Castle didn't state that as part of their plan (likely because it falls in more hands than the animation department). Even so, I couldn't help but suggest an alternate for Jump Kick.
I think those fighting for ultra-realistic shooting are ignoring the fact that using two pistols in an ultra-realistic setting (real life) is completely impractical and dangerous. -
-
I'm going to assume Power Pools are out, but Jump Kick looks outright crazy on non spider-hero guys.
Considering how split the community is on Dual Pistols... the set needs options for less "Gun-Fu", and more "realistic" shooting. I'm sure that will be one heck of a challenge to make interesting normal animations with the same animation time. -
-
I think you may have hit the nail on the head without realizing it. Proliferation would require quite a bit of tweaks to make other sets work as Blaster secondaries, and that's time that may be hard to justify.
Personally, I'm very ready for more secondaries for Blasters. There's a pretty good selection of primaries now, so I think the secondaries are prime for a boost. -
Perhaps just give Stalkers "Containment"?
I know that will have little effect on solo play, but we're trying to boost their appeal to teams, right? -
...stores didn't have map markers. You had to remember where to go.
Of all the QoL improvements, this ranks second only to Super Side-kicking in my book -
Upgraded Textures Booster!
They can update all the old faces, costume bits, and some world textures that desparately need updating, and all those that prefer the older versions can save $10.
Oh, and if you prefer to have a mix of old and new, the costume creator can have a "V2" appended to the name or something (Like "Face 2 V2").
Seems win-win to me. Also, I like suggestions popping up on server forums, even if a bit out of place. It gives me a better idea of what type of people I'm playing with! -
I'm one of the 14 people who have it, and I love it. It's not terribly useful, but it sure is fun.
Tell you what, I'll gladly give it up if you give up one of your favorite "fun" powers. Deal? -
Quote:It's the pre-download for Issue 18 so you don't need to patch as much once it's actually released on August 17th. Totally optional, but much better than having to wait 45+ minutes to play later. As i just logged off the client started downloading. What is it? Taking like 45 minutes to do.
I didn't realize the pre-download had begun. It's like seeing the first sign of your favorite holiday! -
While we're reliving the glory days, let's also do the following:
- Remove inherent abilities
- Remove EAT's
- Remove IO's
- Make Tanker's taunt work on only one target
- Remove Capes and Auras
- Remove Rogue Isles
- Remove server queueing
- Get Jack Emmert to rejoin as lead designer
I'm all for fun suggestions, but I think this one is a little off-base. All joking aside, it seems like a lot of work to temporarily remove all the fixes they've made just for a lark. -
Quote:My girlfriend says "yes". Stay away from my girlfriend. With my patience and striving to learn and to lead people to success got me into college course in business and culinary during my sr yr. Cooking is what gets the ladies right?
We do. I still haven't gotten the guts to participate in a Mo(anything), but I'm glad to see that TF's and Raids seem to be picking up on Liberty. -

Quote:I forgot about this. Yes, this is probably #1 as far as things that make me log out. I hearby nominate this post for the Ragequit Oscar.Failing a mission when it's not my fault. Like the boss that books it to the door or elevator before you're anywhere near him, or the idiot NPC that gets him/herself killed because he/she tears off after three separate spawns.
When I legitimately screw up, I don't mind. When mechanics beyond my control screw up for me, it's /ragequit time. -
Yes, they will work properly. In the off chance that they do not, there's a very handy Costume Fix button that will remove the offending piece(s).
For instance, you have a costume saved with an aura, and try to load it on a lvl 1 character, you would need to use the fix.
