So I should get less XP on my already-terrible-for-XP arc because I think it's a lot of fun to try it with different characters?
-
The complaining won't start in earnest until we can get our hands on it and come up with the most migraine-inducing color and power combinations possible.
Which should take about two minutes after launch because I know I can't be the only one who views customization as a way to grief my fellow players . . . -
Just thinking about doing my Speeding Through Time arc specced at 8 players has me giggling. I wonder if I'd be able to get any XP in that third mission with spawns for 8 . . .
-
Heck, it's such a perfect solution that it might actually make me start farming just because I won't need anyone else to do it effectively.
-
My 46-47ish Spines/Dark is very much looking forward to this.
He'd already be 50, but I keep benching him because I already have two Scrappers at 50 and want to give some other AT's some love. -
I'm agreeing with one of your posts and this disturbs me.

However, new content that is flawed in significant ways (AE) tends to have a high turnover rate, dropping populations rapidly back to where they were after the first month or two.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, this happens every single issue, so AE is no more guilty of this than any other expansion.
The thing that is really killing us is that people remember that week where they reactivated every single account ever. So don't forget that your "peak" after I14 was artificial anyway. It isn't that all those people tried it and quit, it's that we had a ton of people that just logged in for a week and didn't resub. -
It's also summer, and I don't know about you but for me that means that I'm going outside a heck of a lot more rather than sitting inside staring at my computer screen (not that I don't still do a lot of that anyway).

This thread makes for an interesting read, but I had to laugh at this:
[ QUOTE ]
The STF had been doen a handfull of times by Illusion/Rads, and I know of one RSF being soloed by a mind/fire dom.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've had an Ill/Rad at 50 forever now (though he isn't exactly IO'd out) and if ever I've had a character that could solo things he shouldn't be able to, it's him.
Even on Test running the new TF's before they went live I was doing enough psionic damage to make a real difference on Reichsman while everyone else just wailed away at him to no effect.
I would never have the patience to pluck my way through something like this, though. I don't have the time to farm the cash I'd need for the build and I'd go mad watching the AV's go down that slowly. I'm always impressed when other people pull things like this off, though. -
I don't think I've done the Hero one, but the Villain one is my favorite way to make some quick cash and merits on my IO'd out DM/Shields Brute set to difficulty 4. 40ish% melee defense helps a lot.
Positron drives me absolutely batty every single time, though. I usually end up dying waiting for his super-you-can't-touch-me-neener-neener power to run out, then come back and trounce him.
I rarely hit my tier 9 until the fight with Statesman. Just a tray full of purple inspirations and maybe a blue or green or two. -
Threads like this remind me why I never, ever play with people outside my global channels. The level of self-righteousness over how someone else decides to play a video game is staggering.
I think it should get double XP, but I'm not going to be butt hurt either way.
I doubt I'll have much time to play that weekend anyway with the way things have been going lately. -

Arc 26811 - Love is in the Error
A story about helping the Kraken find true love. Absurd and hillarious. I can't play this without grinning like an idiot.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm at work and don't have arc numbers in front of me, but I just wanted to chime in and say that this is one of my absolute favorites. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I think is a good idea for the front page:
3 random Dev Choice
3 random Hall of Fame
3 random 5 star
3 random 4 star
3 full random arcs
That way the Dev's Choice don't dominate the front page, and it gets rotated every time it's refreshed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now that is an excellent idea.
Nex_Fatalis, you make me ashamed for all forum posters with a _ in their name. -
[ QUOTE ]
By the way, just had to add this. My story-arc had to be changed tonight after the patch because the Generators were pulled out of the AE pool. I don't know exactly what prompted the Devs to remove the Generators, perhaps it's the idea that one could create a mission where a tank would herd NPC's around a Generator, then the team would debuff them, lock'em down and simply destroy the Generator thus creating an AoE that would add to the ease of defeating the NPC's... maybe that's it, maybe not. Point is... yet again my creative effort is affected by an exploit, real or imagined, and the Devs' reaction to it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you even read the patch notes? The reasons are stated right there in blue and white. -

Once again, the ideas are terrible no matter how many threads you post them in. -
[ QUOTE ]
Atlas has always been a pigsty of horrible teams and bad players.
I find as a general rule, 9/10 teams formed out of broadcast are more likely to give me debt than give me anything resembling fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
We're like twins or something.
I only ever make new characters that go to Atlas when I'm teaming with someone who wants to. Otherwise, it's Galaxy all the way and has been since frickin' 2004. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's a game give everyone a good chance to have some glory for a week.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not so much against them moving some stuff around, but this isn't a soccer game for four year olds. Not everyone wins and we are keeping score. If your arc is terrible and gets no plays or votes, you shouldn't ever be on the front page. -
[ QUOTE ]
Or how about make them not repeatable more than 1 or 2 times, per character, for 24 hours with XP. That would be a short term solution, though, as the giant green breasts caves would just multiply to fill the daily demand.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aside from the problem you already stated, this would have bitten me in the can more than once as I never test anything before republishing since if I'm going to play through an arc, I'm going to get rewards for it. So when playing my own arc, tweaking it, playing through it again, tweaking it again, etc I would be punished.
Another bad idea to fix a "problem" that I'm not seeing. -

[ QUOTE ]
Here's my compromise:
All AE arcs, once published get treated as "Probationary Arcs" and critters defeated within give 50% of normal reward. To get the arc upgraded to full reward either get X number (5? 30?...Whatever) of ratings (might be difficult if it rewards only 50% of normal, as fewer people might want to play it) or hit a "Submitted for Review" flag to get a GM to eventually see it, review for whether it's a blatantly unbalanced XP-Fest or not and turn on the full rewards earlier.
Unpublishing/Republishing would still reset to zero ratings and reset to Probationary.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the only missions ever played would be the older ones out of this probationary period (or arcs from people with a lot of game friends.) There'd be no motivation for newer players to make arcs that will hardly/never get played. It'd be the voting cartels but much worse.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not true. See the bolded part.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do we get to volunteer whose monthly subscriptions go up to pay for these mythical employees who have hours to pour through every arc that's being submitted? -
Patch notes prove that you really couldn't be more wrong and it is hilarious.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe to you. But then, like I've said beforem I avoud pug teams and only group with chat channels where I hang out, so this whole "AE means I cant find teemz" thing is something I never even notice.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree 100% with this post since it is exactly my personal experience.
The only things keeping me from teaming are sunshine, a bathroom renovation, and other real life commitments. -

Fun arc. I know I shouldn't like an arc with zillions of EBs, outdoor hunts, and mass-EB ambushes, time travel, and the "strongest hero ever to exist", but somehow it all comes together pretty nicely. The sheer number of EBs in the third mission might be a little much, but just taking away that fulcrum shift and build up would make me feel more like the hero than the spectator. All in all, I'd call the arc a mess of usually bad things that end up coming out splendidly. Four stars from me, only because the Blur's somewhat overpowered power picks (and "presence", if you know what I mean.) made me feel like just sitting back and watching him do the work.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! I wasn't going for "strongest" so much as "most selfless" since he'd honestly be a bit of a pansy in a one on one fight (at least for my EB killers he would be). I keep rebalancing things (even though it's set to "final" I don't think it ever really will be unless I get Dev's Choice and locked or something) to show off how important the player is to the whole thing, but that third mission is just so over the top that people either love it for it's chaos or hate it because they have some thing against having NPC's stealing their kills.
I've played plenty of arcs where they got this wrong, and while you might argue that I did too, I think it's deliciously so. -
But if they all kept it to one thread, then they couldn't pretend to be unique little snow flakes every time they regurgitated the same tired, flawed, silly arguments over and over ad nauseum.
Yes, I made two vomit reverences. It was intentional since that's pretty much what the forums look like to me right now. -
Since I can find a lowbie team pretty much 24/7 without leaving my global channel, I trump your completely unverifiable evidence with my own!
Also, since we recruit actual "new players" (not just people with 4 years in-game making new characters) and treat them like gold, walking them through what's great about this game like proud little parents, I call BS on that too.
My anecdotal evidence beats yours so I win!
Stop giving solutions to a problem that doesn't exist and go form a task force or something, people. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think you misunderstand the widespread dismay over all these new people farm/pling their way to 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I get it. I'm just calling BS on you.
And if their obsession is hitting 50 and quitting, then that's what they would have done anyway. I've seen it over and over again since I started playing in 2004. There are some people that are only about getting to the level cap no matter how many times you tell them that it isn't the way this game works.
So I suppose those people I've seen doing it in Issue 2 were the AE's fault, too?
These aren't people that were going to stick around anyway and there aren't as many of them as you like to pretend there are.
Two steps to actually solve this "problem:"
1) Turn off Broadcast or put it in a tab with your reward logs where it gets buried as soon as you kill a mob. VOILA! Problem solved for you.
2) Get off your high horse. Some people enjoy playing differently than you do. Stop being butt hurt about it and move on.
