Well I used it before years ago, and it was safe then. I haven't used it recently though. There are plenty of other people you can ask too.
Doesn't really matter to me either way if you use it or not. I'm just trying to lower the tension level in this thread. If you don't think your position should have to be defended, then don't do it. It's just going to invite other people to defend their position and continue arguing. -

Quote:You don't intend to, but it's what you're doing. You're on a forum asking for advice, and when people tell you that a program is safe, you don't believe them because they aren't trustworthy enough for you, and you're very flagrant about this fact.I never called anyone a liar. Anyone can say something is safe but really I dont know you or anyone else here anymore than I know the dude sitting on his front porch somewhere in Utah saying that his special tea he made is safe.
There's also an issue of tone. If you had said "I'm sure you guys are right, but I don't download programs unless I completely understand everything about it, including how it works and who made it. I'll look in to it more and see if any people I know use it so I can ask them about it, then we'll see if it will work for me." then I'm sure people would have been much more understanding. Instead every time someone tries to explain that the program is safe you argue about how it MIGHT not be safe, which is insulting to them and confrontational. -
I think that the difference between opinions and facts is being confused here. How safe you want to be with your personal information and computer safety is an opinion. Whether or not a specific program is safe is a fact.
Someone being unable to determine if a fact is true or not true it's completely understandable, but ignoring people explaining the facts is rude and ignorant. It's essentially calling people liars. -
I'm 95% certain that touch of the beyond has to pass its to-hit check in order to grant you a buff, and it's the only one of the new powers that that's true for.

Quote:You want to wait until you've taken a bit of damage so the +regen can fill you up. In my experience, 50-70% health is a good place to use it.Is the absorption from Carapace really that powerful to keep me alive? Should I pre-emptively pop it or wait until I start taking damage (so the regen will catch up?)
Not having defense debuff resistance hurts, but the truth is that most sets don't have much if any and get by just fine. -
Yes, it will. Burst damage is questionable on a defender, and aim isn't very beefy in the +damage department. Even while solo, the kill speeds will be reasonably similar, and on a team there's no contest.

I'd suggest going in to configuration -> effects and math -> suppression and checking the "attacked" box. That will make everything show in-combat values.
-
Uhh... ::checks mids:: It's 15' stealth in combat and 35' out of combat. Its defense bonus gets halved to 1.75% when suppressed. So it's exactly the same as power pool stealth except a little less than half of its stealth won't suppress.
In my opinion, it's like a lot of blaster powers: rather weak, but not as useless as people tend to think. -
Quote:This isn't true. The stealth and defense only partially suppress. This means that cloaking device can reduce the chance of accidentally attracting the attention of a nearby group while you're in combat. What they do not explain about this power is the effect is only useful out-of-combat because it is suppressed (though you stay transparent?!) in-combat.. And, well, defense is only really useful when things are trying to hit you! Of course that stealth bonus, that goes away in combat too... so this is an OUT OF COMBAT sort of power.

Seriously, can you read the posts you're responding to more closely please?

Recharge not needed? But you need to spam fulcrum shift as much as possible! And spam siphon power on the AV!

Free to blaster characters? Yes.
Free to the developers' time? No. There are opportunity costs involved when it comes to development time. If a solution isn't ideal, then it should be argued against so that the ideal solution can be put forward. Not only that, but design decisions now will affect future design decisions.
Arguing against buff X because you think buff Y is superior and you think buff X will have consequences down the road is a perfectly valid stance. -

Your faith in an MMO community's ability to adapt to any sort of change is much higher than mine.

I don't know if comparing fortitude with farsight is really fair, considering how clearly above average farsight is. It's similar to, but not nearly as ridiculous as, comparing VEATs to blasters.

I just tested it, genetic corruption's sleep will not stack.

It's not the stalker assassin strike thing in particular for me, it's that half the people in my SG groups tend to quickly move from one dead group to the next live group while the other half doesn't, and this means that by the time the latter half reaches the group they have to struggle to find live targets.
-
I'm worried about the same thing. My main group already has an issue with +4X8 enemies dying too quickly.
-
Same. If your group is killing whole groups of enemies in 10 seconds then defensive effects aren't going to help anyway. It's just more frustrating with end drain because at least with something like to-hit debuffs you can pretend they helped :P.
-
It assumes a 10% critical rate, which makes sense considering that minions and lower are the only things that give 5%.

On my level 40 electric controller, it's about 8 seconds. That's how long it takes for me to cast chain fences twice. Static field gets used in between those two. Archvillains take a long enough time that we get in to the fuzzy area of human perception of time. I would say 25 seconds minimum if everything works out. It can take much longer than that if I get stuck tossing O2 boosts around and I have to start conserving endurance. One of your primary means of end drain requiring 15 endurance and recycling every 8 seconds is a huge drain.
Obviously, my effectiveness takes a huge hit once I'm up against higher level enemies. I'm excited to see what agility alpha and preemptive interface along with global recharge bonuses do for me.
Quote:It certainly is enough time to take significant damage, but combined with the ability to heal once X is reached (something all blasters will have after I24), I think the end drain will be even more useful even if no other changes are made
I'm curious what your secondary is. I'm guessing it's not energy or electric, because those paired with electric blast can drain even level enemies extremely quickly.
