  1. That's right. Each lightning strike has a chance to proc.
  2. A full invention build with sets that ignores purple pieces will cost you about 400-800 million. That's a lot, but it's much easier to make money now than it used to be. The Weekly Strike Target is a great way to get merits that you can use to turn into expensive things that you can use or sell.

I'm still unsure about the choice but your commenst are very helpful!
When up against an AV, storm suddenly transforms from a control/chaos set into a damage set. You have access to one of the best resistance debuffs in the game and a couple powers that deals serious damage to AVs. However, O2 boost and steamy mist become about the only viable defense at your disposal. Hurricane is strong enough that its to-hit debuff can make a small impact on AVs, but depending on which one it is, it may not be worth it for you to get that close to them.
  4. Both have strong single target damage and are capable of defeating AVs with their damage output. Sonic will end up doing way more single target damage on teams because of its -res, while ice has amazing area damage, which sonic has none of.

Defenders have large modifiers to both their personal defense buffs and their self heals. Seems like a clearly intended playstyle to me. :P

I suggest only using the heal aura before tough battles and only using the endurance aura when you see someone low on endurance.

It actually has the same number of ticks. The reason you're seeing twice as many is because each of ice storm's damage tics have a cold and a lethal component.
  8. Something I forgot to mention in my earlier post. An aura that affects the wings only and does not require wings to actually be on the character. I have no idea how feasible this is, but being able to have wings made entirely out of flames would be amazing.
  9. I'll get the big one out of the way first:
power pool and ancillary pool power customization.

    Now for the smaller ones:
Ability to turn off transparency effects in ALL powers. The previous design decision was for only powers like cloak of darkness that had 100% transparency to have this option. I'd like for it to apply to all of them such as energy cloak from energy aura, including team stealth powers like steamy mist and shadow fall

For sonic resonance and/or force field, a hexagonal Beehive Barrier for the ally and group shields, similar to what the Praetorian Police Department currently uses.
    Example screenshot of PPD: http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co..._vs_ppd_04.jpg

Alternate options for the cold domination and thermal radiation shields would be good too. For the thermal shields, trimming down the VFX to only include the orbiting balls of flame would be nice. For cold domination, perhaps new FX similar to what frostworks does, or perhaps sleeker ice armor that's only on the body or forearms.

For storm summoning, a more impressive looking tornado power. It's put to shame by more recent twister powers such as Scirroco's dust devils and water spout which appears in certain versions of leviathan mastery.

That's my thought too. I got a lucky random reward plus the extra bonus from you though, so I really can't complain.

  12. Spiritual is the better choice by far. All of your attacks should already be at 95% accuracy thanks to sleet and your own slotting, and the defense buff to your shields isn't very large. It's only about 2% at the very rare slotting. Meanwhile, spiritual will help benumb, sleet, and heat loss come up more often.

I'm going to half-disagree on energy. Knockback can do unbelievable things if used properly. I think that the defender chances for knockback should be higher than the blaster ones though.

Also agree with Tex that crashing nukes should no longer crash. The game has evolved in such a way that a giant attack on a big cooldown doesn't need a crash to be balanced. Keeping the -recovery portion might be reasonable.

As a further suggestion to add to this thread, I think all close range blasts with long animations should have a bonus effect added to them. Blaze has its fast animation, bitter ice blast has its fast animation AND a to-hit debuff, cosmic burst has a guaranteed stun, power burst could be guaranteed knockback instead of just a chance, executioner's strike could do bonus damage to enemies low on health, etcetera.
  14. There is no redraw, since traps doesn't have a weapon for you to draw. The combo should work fine for you. Radiation doesn't have very high single target damage, but it does good area damage. Once you get a few powers, you should be able to set your difficulty to something like -1X4 with bosses turned off and be good to go. I'm sure you could do much higher than that too.

Pretty much, yeah. It depends on what rank enemies you're fighting.

If you don't feel like doing sonic again, ice blast is definitely where you want to go.

Assuming you aren't using one of the secondaries that are ridiculous on corruptors (fire or cold) then both archetypes do about the same damage when solo. Defenders lose their damage bonus when they're on a large team.

As far as defender secondary damage output, the ones that get mentioned the most are sonic blast and ice blast. Sonic blast is the absolute best at single target damage, while having very little in terms of area damage. Ice blast has very good damage for both single target and area damage output. There are a few other honorary mentions though. Archery can put out pretty solid area damage.

Depending on what type of character you plan to play, a fire or ice blast corruptor may be best for you. Or even a crab spider. They're all pretty high up there on the personal damage output while still being a buff/debuffer.
  19. Pro-tip: Slot empty clips with five damage procs.
  20. Marcus ran his hand along the massive stone in front of him. It was one of many jagged rocks that formed the teeth of what was once the leviathan.

"So this is what you're after?" His friend, Danielle, shivered uncomfortably as she floated in the humid, heavy air. He got her to come along by being vague and telling her that he simply 'needed help with something'.

"That's right. The leviathan." Marcus responded as he took out the parchment with the Ritual of Z'kron on it. As he read the ancient incantations, the stone tooth in front of him began glowing red, and glyphs appeared on it. The power of the leviathan, a mythical being originally summoned to lay waste to an entire nation, would soon be his.

Just as the ritual was about to be completed, a hissing voice echoed through the chamber, "The power of the leviathan belongs to me! It will be mine!"

Marcus and Dani spun to see Captain Mako barreling towards them over the wet rocks. "You have got to be kiddin' me!" Dani groaned.

He slashed at Marcus, who spun out of the way and flicked a half-dozen pointed icicles at the fish-man. Mako easily darted between them and rushed forward. Dani reached out and tried to manipulate Mako's mind, but he had fought many psychics before, and could dodge even mental attacks.

They continued to wear each other down until Mako finally caught up to the tiring Marcus and his claws tore through him.

"Marc!" Dani shouted as Mako stood over his fallen opponent and prepared to give the final blow. Before he could strike, Dani took hold of his mind. He gripped at his head, yelling as he tried to claw her out with his bare hands. Dani threw knives made of ice at Mako as he struggled to regain control of his body. With Mako distracted, Marcus struggled to his feet and landed the final blow. Mako fell to the ground, unconscious.

Dani floated down and stood next to Marcus, "Y'know, I should know it's never simple with you. You're always deep into somethin'. Probably gonna get us both killed..." She frowned as she noticed
the wound in his chest that was slowly regenerating, "Ya'ight?"

"Yeah, I'm good." Marcus smiled under the scarf that covered his face. He took Dani's hand and led her out of the cavern.

    ---------------------

The above is what happened when I wanted to finish up my ice/cold corruptor, delta crush's patron arc. Soloing an EB didn't seem exciting enough so I set AVs on and invited one of my unsuspecting friends, who was a mind/ice dominator at the time. Thanks to defense inspirations, kiting, and benumb, I managed to tank Mako for a long time, but he took me down when he was just a sliver away from being defeated. I was sure that he would quickly turn on my friend and kill her, but instead his purple triangles dropped at that EXACT moment, giving me enough time to pop an awaken and take out that last sliver of HP with her. It was definitely the narrowest victory I've ever had in the game, so it's one of my best memories.

From a purely high level, optimum performance perspective, corruptor is best if you're using kinetics. Both archetypes are capable of hitting their damage caps in a lot of situations, and corruptors will be more effective when that happens. However, defenders will be able to hit the cap more easily in more situations, and can do it when exemplared to a lower level.

It depends on how good you are with fulcrum shift and whether or not you really care about the differences between the two. Personally, I'd suggest corruptor.

  23. Just looking at damage output, a corruptor storm/energy would be pretty similar to a defender storm/energy. The defender has a stronger freezing rain and more damaging lightning storm to help lessen the gap. However, if you pair storm summoning with a set that is really good at taking advantage of scourge (fire or ice) then the corruptor will do amazing things.
  24. kinetics works best with sets that don't have cones. Cones work best when you're at range, fulcrum shift works best when you're in melee. It's not like it's a deal breaker, but how much you want to be jumping in and out of range is something to consider.

There's a bug where reactive isn't properly being applied to pets. It might be affecting your acid mortar. The good news is that it's fixed in the patch that's on the training room right now.
