  1. Great Coin! looking forward to watching them when you get them all ready!

I would have signed up for the event myself if i was able to make it on ExtraGonk
  2. Hey again Risen,

I'm sorry tonight was your first night out in a PvP zone (if it indeed was). It wasn't the most pleasant crowd. PvP quickly changes pace and can be quite unbalanced at times. I know you didn't have much luck in there tonight but dont let it discourage you. A defender like yourself needs a good team to keep you protected so you can shine. Defenders don't do a whole lot of dmg and they are mostly reliant on teams to stand some kind of chance.

As far as your powers go there's nothing wrong with them. You did play against a couple of us thats been grouping together since we were baby heroes so we pretty much know what the other person is going to do which in your case didn't make it easier.

For your powers. Nothing wrong with them. Maybe put some slows in tarpatch if you haven't already, maybe you wont catch everyone but once in a while you definately will. Especially if there's a lot of people fighting in a close bunch.

If you want to try different things out in the arena or in the pvp zones or if you just want a few tips just send me a /tell in game and I'll be glad to help anyway I can.

Like all PvP there's good and bad days. Give it a few more tries and see how you feel about it then. I think a lot do the mistake of just going once and if they have a bad experience they think its like that everytime. It can be quite fun in the Arena as well as the PvP zones.

Try looking under the defender sections for input on how dark/* defenders works best in PvP. I'm sure there's someone who'll have posted some nifty tips on them
  3. Someone should record these matches. That way I could kick my feet up on friday with some popcorn and enjoy an hour long of good fights

    1st Respec ?

I'll gladly help out if possible. Mostly available during the weekend though. Can either bring my lvl 40 corrupter ice/rad or my lvl 30 dominator grav/nrg. Both have done it so if you get a team full that haven't done it, no sweat
  5. Nice guide. I've done a fair bit of PvP'ing with my domi in sirens lately and I agree with everything in that guide. It's a thrill and a good challenge to many other Archetype's imo, I love it.

If only we could have more pool powers!
  6. Thanks fellas, I think I got some indication as to which direction I'm going and had the chance to try em out on test the other day. Much appreciated
  7. Well so far been playing around with a dominator and a blaster. It was a hard life being a dominator with all the scrappers around the place. Managed to get a hold of a few though and was quite fun and a challenge to play. Wanted to try out a blaster against all the elec brutes running around to see what this big toggle deal was all about and I've always wanted to play one at higher levels but just can't get myself to stick with em for some reason . Actually all the brutes went down pretty easily. Except there was one I had quite a problem getting and I didn't get him either before a group showed up and helped take him down. Didn't have to much problems with MM's though.

Don't like the heavy blaster bots and don't like all the npc's all over the place.

EDIT : Oh just wanted to add one thing, hibernation for ice tanks. Now thats a taunt power if I've ever seen one ! You finally manage to get the buggers down in health and then they just hibernate and turn into giant ice cubes and regenerate! The nerve!
  8. Well I'm not entirely sure how it works but I was getting those a lot as well against a Ice/nrg tank with my domi and had powers slotted with 2 acc so was also quite baffled by it. Was told its just a new way to put that you 'miss' but still should it be that hard to hit a tank? Maybe he used insp. Don't know why else I couldn't seem to hit him as he was fighting someone else and i literally spammed him with holds or tried

It seems everyone I speak to is waiting to create a 'leccy brute once I7 is out....is everyone here planning on doing the same, cos if so I'm going to have to find out what the best anti-elec brute build is so I can make a stand when they come to take over the PVP zones!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, horrible sounding effects etc. Not why I'm not going to play one though. Just busy having fun with my domi
  10. I've read a few post here about grav already but didn't notice one giving any suggestion to their slotting. So I'm wondering how those of you with experience with Sing and wormhole in PvE & PvP have to say to this? I'm a bit confused on wormhole if its useful at all in PvE and more so in PvP? thoughts?

Still got some way to go before i can start experimenting with it but any input and guidance in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
  11. I'd say they're all viable. Just depends on what you want to bring to the PvP zone, support or lay some smack down.

    Hi ho.
Finally got my dom to lvl 20 (the unlucky charm) and zipped into sirens to try him out. Obviously got beat a few times but I can see he might be quite powerful later on. Anywho, what got me is that there seems to be more heroes in defiant pvp than union pvp. I dont play defiant much so maybe I've only been in during the peak hero times. Are there always so many more heroes than villains in defiant pvp? When i logged in there were 19 heroes and 4 villains

    [/ QUOTE ]

er... was this today, this afternoon? The Echelon & Liberty Legion were in Sirens hotspotting to celebrate a Legion anniversary.

Hope you didn't leave too soon as you'd have missed a few of us swapping to villains to even it up a bit. We even fought our way to Talos Park from a very sieged villain base .

    [/ QUOTE ]

it was somewhat later mighty but heroes were still in great numbers

Yup was very unbalanced tonight, it flips a lot though. After you left a few of us went to warburg for some ffa. Was quite fun and a bit more enjoyable. Got pretty hectic and chaotic at times but thats half the fun. Was nice to team with ya. Hope to see ya again sometime, dont give up on defiant

Point made and I agree with ya there. Maybe I did put it in simple terms but I am supposed to be working

  15. [ QUOTE ]
If we were to attribute everything to simply not living in a perfect world, and the fact that in a very base level, human beings are just plain mean, and then leave it at that, nothing would ever change. Whilst what you say is true, we could resolve and end an aweful lot of discussions and lines of thought with "This isnt a perfect world, and people are mean". The point I was raising is that people have this false belief that jerkish behaviour is completely overlooked in the PVP zones, to the point of the normal rules having no effect. That little pop-up that reminds you about being in a PVP zone could also remind them that the rules still apply? Blegh, thats too much like overkill. Perhaps they should add a few more lines to the PVP zone entrance dudes, to tell them if they're naughty, santa wont give them any presents Then again the villains wouldnt mind, they stole a bunch of them last christmas..

And yes, im perfectly aware that nothing will come of this topic, even if we come up with some killer suggestions. Imperfect world etc etc.

Has it occured to anyone that perhaps the people that do leave because of smacktalk etc, should leave PvP? It's obviously not for everyone and maybe for those people it's best to stay out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thats just the thing, where was it written that the darker half of the smacktalk HAS to be in PVP? Rules are enforced throughout the entire game, so where on earth did people get the impression that they going that far is A-okay in PVP? I bet if you'd ask a bunch of PVP'ers, about what they thought the rules were, you'd get a whole lot of different answers. Despite the strange assumation that its against the rules to interrupt duels by some, or that tele-droning or base-teleporting is a bannable offense, a load of them say that swearing and being completely obnoxious is well within the rules.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't say that anywhere but we don't live in a perfect world either. I'd wish it could be all in good spirits but we're all human being and we're all different.
  17. Has it occured to anyone that perhaps the people that do leave because of smacktalk etc, should leave PvP? It's obviously not for everyone and maybe for those people it's best to stay out. I think we can all agree that PvP has an ugly side to it and that probably wont change.

    [ QUOTE ]
The reason why PVP zones are often so full of idiots, is because half of the time, people who arent on the recieving end seem to be egging them on, encouraging them, and at worst supporting them directly. People say PVP will always be like this, but I have to ask why that is? Is it because of a lack of constant moderation that is too costly to implement? Is it because PVP attracts those kinds or brings out the worst in otherwise normal people? Or is because those kinds of people seem to regularly visit PVP and support those kinds of underhanded tactics, effectively giving a show of hands to others that "Dont worry folks, its a PVP zone, you can act like a jerk if you want to!".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now if I was on the receiving end of something like this I'd probably leave that day. If it happened everyday I'd probably stop coming back. You could say grow a spine (Just saying in general) but in all honesty I'd rather prefer to fill my game time with something more fun, in which case PvP wouldn't be for me either. So I hope i wasn't being to cynical with my earlier statement. We all just have different levels of tolerance.
  18. I've seen 'one' goes by the name of foresight (sorry forgot his username on the boards here ). A hoot to play with and against in the pvp zones. Unfortunately and I think he'd prolly agree with me that they need lots of loving as warmdue stated. Their slow and debuffs can be annoying but their animations are just to long.
  19. Phew the PvP zone is a safer place for villains, especially me Just kidding of course freon

Take it easy and good luck with guild wars. I hope I'm not around for when/if the cape comes back out of the closet

Was a pleasure getting to play 'with' ya in the pvp zones.
  20. Well I kind of agree with ya both, Mighty and Graviton. The whole Atlas Park bit, genius and with RV in city hall of all places. Its bound to have new heroes wonder what's past that restricted lift and inspire their imagination.CoV needs the same thing as CoH, a place were old meets new. As far as the setting its a good thing they are so different. Makes for a whole different feel. I do however think that there could have been some brigher areas in the rogue isles and some even darker ones like Dark Astoria for those really dangerous places.

As for CoV being boring, well I wouldn't say for me its boring. What I just can't stand anymore is the mindless killing of NPCs in the same maps anymore. TF's are nice but i feel CoX needs larger scaled raids of sorts. Maybe not hami sized but maybe 2 groups. I need action and a challenge darn it!
  21. Gani_

    3vP is coming!

Thanks Xan, unfortunately thursdays just dont work for me.
  22. Gani_

    3vP is coming!

I'd sign up by any idea when it would take place, (time/date) sorry if i missed it, at work and should be working
  23. Grats on making it into the top 100 and good luck climbing that latter. Just remember fun comes first

On a side note to Envoy's cough. Wonder if there's any male only SG *ponders* One that could stand up against the evil tyranny that is the female only SG's. A thought just popped into my head a all male SG doing the whole line-up showdown against the femmes, males all wearing speedos of course
