  1. Finally back at home (well about 90 minutes ago, and have FINALLY caught up with 3 days of not checking my usual stuff).

The weekend was a blast, and it was suprising at how many other people I have spoken to one way or another but never actually met in person (and from other NCsoft games as well).

Shame that this is the last of the CURRENT events that they have organised.... i just hope that the others run just as smoothly.

    Going to miss you guys.

Please open a support ticket - if you've upgraded the account to a full account and paid for subscription time the trial restrictions should *not* be in place.

While I'm here, we've become aware (thanks to the recent issue that required a patch be reverted) that if you make changes to your account in PlayNC (eg upgrading from trial to retail) while logged in to the game, there is a possibility of the changes being overwritten and reverted when you log out. The support team can fix the problem if this occurs, and the dev team are investigating the best way to eliminate the problem. In the meantime, please keep in mind that you should not be logged in to the game while making upgrades to your account via PlayNC.

Great. How on earth would someone know that?

NCs aware of the problem yet no one thinks of putting a disclaimer on the site that you go to when you press "upgrade"?
Are you aware that, as a trialist, there is a button on the top of the screen as you play saying upgrade? To encvourage you to... press the button while in game to upgrade?
That is sloppy. Very very sloppy. And,to my mind unacceptable.

And how much do you want a bet that even after this no-one will put one up?
Even I can update a website. Takes 5 minutes.

You want new customers or not?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually i am sure that on the accounts management screen it does say to ensure that you are NOT logged into the account whilst modifying your account details.

Granted, i seem to remember seeing this when i was entering my details for CoX a few weeks ago.

Ah yes, when you click on the "upgrade account" which you do to apply a retail code to a trial account it pops up a box with "Please make sure that you are not logged into the game before you upgrade." written on there.

But generally speaking though... i would have assumed (as would most other people) that being logged in to the account whilst changing "features" of said account is a bad thing.

  10. Ahhh one of those infamous GoogleAd's at work again.

Its like the adverts for "WoW Gold selling" on numerous WoW fansites et al.

Which is why i host everything myself
  11. I wouldnt say that it needs a serious overhaul.. more additions to the current system definately (maybe even on a per user basis instead of a per rank basis) but even so, that is still open to the potential for abuse once they have gained your trust.
  12. What is this iPod thing?

And yes, i was raised on the 80's as well... and i do indeed have a fair share of them on my computer. Thankfully i have enough music to keep going for *about* 4 months before the playlist repeats

Room for improvement, yes there is always room for improvement, maybe part of the reason why there is a delay for things like this is that they have to make sure that everything makes sense as well (especially if there ISNT a french/german speaker in the builder). Online translating tools can range from being accurate to being laughable (Having translated patch notes for Tabula Rasa into French during the closed beta, it does help having an understanding of the language but even so, mistake can and DO happen).

But when server admin messages are unable to be saved (and have to be typed in manually), then this shows that the backend of the game can be improved upon (in particular for administration message).

In terms of the 5 minute warning... they do have to work with the US with these patches as well... and 5 minutes might have been all the warning that they had (imagine the message at 10am (US time) "Ok, we have worked out what the issue is, the servers are going down at 11am our time, so get ready for everything" that gives just 1 hour to do everything that they have to do (compose the warning, translate the warning, get the warning checked off for accuracy... 3 times btw all whilst still trying to hit deadlines for your own work... the CoX crew are not just CoX exclusive, as i do know that Kerensky also deals with Tabula Rasa (there goes one potential german translator)... and the others might have work with their OWN specialist games (Guild Wars, Aion, Dungeon Runners, Lineage et al...) BTW, this could also involve doing interviews for online radio, Gamespot (*check out the Aion one from Brighton* last week)

As i said, is there room for improvement...but sometimes there are just occasions when things just go wrong and they are short one person as well (like Ghostraptor being away right now).

Basically all that said and done, they did a good job considering the circumstances (and i have seen much worse happen) so just relax......

Dont worry... I am sure that people still complain when the servers go down during their scheduled maintenance window due to starting a timed mission or some such.

At least with a TF you can take as long as you want over it.
  21. Eve does have 2 different engines at play (the Trinity install also includes the original engine, and basically adds more prettiness to it, whilst also changing the textures for the ships (which some players didnt like)).
The fact that the Trinity engine took them quite a while (read more than a year) of working on it to get it ready shows how much hard work it can be...

But saying that as well since the launch of City Of Heroes players have been lost due to various Issues (the game expansion) increasing in various ways the minimum requirements (IIRC as well City of Villains has a HIGHER recommended spec than City of Heroes).

Depending on how much of an engine upgrade the game is recieving, and also due to better coding (in theory) the requirements could be dropped so that we could see a performance increase, especially on the "average" computer...
  22. You see GG... sometimes just clarifying what you are saying it makes it a bit easier to understand... i have to admit i thought the same thing as Max
  23. You end up getting more and more of the Community people on your MSN just to talk about random stuff in the day instead of issues in the game.

This is the kind of Microtransaction I agree with, unlike Exteel's where getting Credit is quite hard work, you need to repair your mechanaught by paying with credit or purchasing NC coins, and paint schemes run out after 30 days requiring you to buy more, thus spending credit.

Respec for that price is fine, I plan all my builds, have freespecs, so won't use it. For those who do want to spend the money, they can.

I doubt they'll force us to pay for them, nor will the button glitter and sparkle to draw you in and force you to pay. It'd be real funky if it could do that though.
