  1. And I was also using up my allocation of TR referral codes as well...

There were *none* of the small mini cards available for it though to hand out (real shame to be honest though).

I was actually suprised at the number of CoX players who had a TR account there (i thought i would have been the only one).

Do I hear a volunteer there?
Maybe with the obstacle of 'also sells alcoholics' there to make it 'interesting'?

  4. Well, it looks like Ghostraptor has dropped off a small tidbit of information for us players in his little hideout...

To get to the point: If everything goes well next week, and if a few other pieces of jigsaw slot into place, we might just be able to run MiniCon v2.0 this year. Can I be any more vague?

  5. Tried to connect up here.... BT broadband living in Wrexham

*edit* Tell a lie... i left it running for a couple of minutes and it connected up
  6. Sorry... i dont see City of Villains Collectors edition on sale on the playNC game section...

It *is* however under the merchanside section of the store (which *isnt* immediately apparent)
  7. WOOO! Not late for once

    Happy Cake Day...

I had a cookie for you as well.... but i ated it
  8. Try checking out Play.com or amazon.co.uk.

*IF* they are out of stock there, then chances are they have all been sold.

The Collectors edition (especially for a game almost 4 years old in the EU) are limited in quantity.

And yes, the Versions of the game are region locked (IE a US version gives you access to the US servers and an EU version gives you accoess to the EU servers)

So if you search EU/UK based sites you *might* find a copy of it. But make sure that its from a *reputable* source though.
  9. They are up to 9.1 now for the driver release btw.
  10. i blame long character names and trying to talk to people out of your zone being the cause of the issue here (and not using the @GLOBAL name)

Short Character names = no issue in any sense.
Long Character names = issues when talking cross zone.

Who would have thought that having a LONG character name was the issue....

Now, if THAT is the problem, I *personally* would have never thought about it being the cause (then again I would have never thought that the language in a windows install would stop a program from installing, but it has done, ie using windows in Turkish prevented the beta client of Tabula Rasa prevented it from installing; dont ask me *why* it did... it just did. I know this because i was keeping an eye on the thread at the time)

So as GR has said... an intermittant issue (or even a one off issue) that only affects a *certain* portion of the player base with no immediately obvious common links does indeed make an issue harder to pin down to the wall.

For me, i doubt if *any* player has recieved a broken tell from me... if they have, then i am sorry (then again i normally try to keep my character names short and sweet)

Of course, i could be wildly wrong over the cause for the issue; so everything else is pure conjecture.
  11. happy cake day anyway... i'm stuffed and going for a lie down
  12. *burps*

    Sorry, i ate it
  13. There is also an issue (it appears) with Crossfire and ATI cards... (even worse when its built INTO the card such as the 4870X2)
  14. Hmm try setting Catalyst AI to "Advanced" that might help you out (apparently it forces into AFR mode but still uses both chip cores)

OR you can try setting Catalyst AI to "Disabled" (only uses 1 gfx core for the game)

Tell me what the answers are.
  15. I dont know if Crossfire can do this, but is there an Alternate Frame rendering mode available at all?

If so, engage that... its generally the best mode to use for games that suffer fps drops with the normal SLI/Crossfire rendering modes (which normally involve render one half of a frame per card)

All AFR will do is allocate each card a WHOLE frame to render, and then output that.

    Slow Download.

Are you downloading the whole client via the updater or just patching up the game from the updater?

Also another thing to think about is sometimes its worthwhile restarting your router as well (i have had to do this myself personally a few times).

Once you have done that, then try downloading it via the launcher (and believe it or not, post 11pm is normally when the ISP's stop limiting traffic speed via strange ports)
  17. Strangely enough it *could* actually be due to your gfx card.

City of Heroes/Villains doesnt play well with SLI/Crossfire modes... and unfortunately your gfx card is Crossfired up internally.

Now saying that, i *dont* know if there is a way to disable one half of your graphics card at all... if you can that should defiantely improve your fps if you can do it (strangely enough)

There are other posts in this forum section complaining about "lower than expected" framerates when the use is using SLI/Crossfire.
  18. Just logged in on my levle 50... zoned still had contact list intact.

Also i don't know other languages but game even doesn't allow you to save your costumes using Turkish only letters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*slightly* offtopic.. that reminds me of when a soon-to-be closed game refused to install during beta when you had Turkish set as your windows language. Its amazing what various bugs crop up when different character sets are used.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe this is why it will be soon closed. Never underestimate the power of Turkish Language.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually that bug was resolved in the space of about a week. And being honest, who *would* have thought that a different windows language would have caused an issue; especially when other non-english languages reported no issues.

Still a shame that they are closing the game down though

    Logging out

I would like something like the /camp command that is present in Tabula Rasa. It takes you to the character select screen , BUT it does have a 10 second delay on it (to prevent insta logging during PvP matches etc)

Now saying that, I often just keep on closing down CoX and restart the game when i choose an incorrect character (its slightly faster if your game loads up pretty fast)

  23. What annoys me most is when people curcumevent the profanity filter deliberately.

Granted the game is PEGI rated 16+, but that doesnt mean that you leave your manners at the door. Granted, i have been known to let slip the occasional f-bomb (even worse, when teamed up with a couple of friends and their young son who whilst does know the swear words and has had to say them on TV before is one of the nicest kids around).

Now saying that, he *does* have the profanity filter engaged, so at least he doesnt get to read my potty mouth.

Just wondering, but how are the french and german profanity filters set up? Just asking, as that would be an idea as to how far the localisation has gone.

It could well be worth looking into. Also another side is that different cultures have varying ranges of what is viewed as "unsuitable" (ie in germany, almost everything to do with the Nazi's including the swastika is not allowed to be shown.. which is why Wolfenstein in Germany had the Iron Cross instead).

More than anything, i would say that its a "time Vs Effort" factor that kicks in, and that what YOU might find offensive another person doesnt, and vice versa.

You cant please 100% of the people 100% of the time, hell you cant even please 50% of the players 50% of the time (or so it appears)

Then again I would be fine with just the "c" word being censored, and the other swear words being left alone... but that cannot happen, i either have *all* the swear words blocked or none at all. I live and learn, and i can
