I have only every dropped one team almost immediately that i can remember of, and that was when it was a bunch of spanish players who refused to speak english in team chat. Being the only englishman there, i did feel very very very out of place, especially when they were running around everywhere and it seemed to be that I was responsible for ALL the healing there.
Since that incident (abour 4 years ago) I have yet to drop a team, unless it was a mutual quitting by all players... and even then we still try as hard as we could, and it just wasn't going anywhere.
Instead I am more likely to tell them that I am not up for teaming, then join and drop at a moments notice.
*edit* I think that playing that space MMO where I have been on ops that lasted for 12hours + for different reasons (some fun, others not so fun, but i was playing a core role for that fleet) I know what the meaning of "team commitment" is.... -
actually... that kinda works :S

Wiki real word or not?
But to just wind it up even more...
linkage
Sooo many different ones, no wonder that nothing recently has been nailed down for it.... -
Quote:Although the words are not in common usage, they are still as "real" as any other modern word (reading the rest of the thread and the confusion that has arisen would have clarified that for you)It's usually considered "bad form" to correct someone's BIO. Not everyone is as skilled with the English language as you may be.
Except... Well, I'm now going to point that one should not throw stones when one lives in a glass house, hence the highlighted words from your last paragraph.
If you're going to dictate English usage to someone, then you should use it correctly yourself.
Quote:I didn't bother reading the entirety of the thread.
As for "going there", why not? He's ragging on someone for poor grammar, then uses nonesense PC "words" that aren't even real.
No offense meant here FFM, but I think that if you bothered to read most of the other thread then pretty much EVERY single point you have made so far in this thread has been answered already. -
@FFM... you didn't just go there.
Especially when about half the posts on this thread have been over those 2 gender neutral pronoun.... -
Never had issues with the NCSoft launcher myself, and i found it easy to keep up to date (ie you didnt have to launch your game for patches to be downloaded, as it could do it in the background if you set it so).
Having said that, I don't know how it has progressed in the past year since I stopped playing Aion a year ago.
One other thing that I *DID* like about the launcher was that it was possible for game status to be checked without starting the game (I used this heavily with Tabula Rasa).
The other stuff... looking forward to immensly. -
Quote:Avatea has been involved with CoX in form or another since *at least* November 2005(ish).. I believe that she started as a GM for NCsoft...Everyone's different - it's like how some players have been here since beta, but others only stay a few months then go - and it's the same with the devs - Castle might have felt the need for a new challenge after 6 years, but other devs might still feel this is where they want to be.
There have also been a lot of mods who've come and gone too, and each one has been here for a different period of time before they've decided to move on - for example, Avatea's been around for quite a long time, but Mod 12 seems to have only been here for a short time before he disappeared - he joined some time after Avatea started working here but he's gone, and she's still here. -
Its been 6 years, and I have only now just seen The Incredibles....

The "bulk" of the 70 who lost their jobs were actually from the NCsoft Europe development side as well as "back room" stuff (marketing, sales).. which didnt actually affect CoX running as it were (ok blips on the EU side, or roadhumps, but nothing that currently affected CoX's lifespan.
Yes it sucked when that happened, but i believe that the 2009 issue is WAAAY in the past now...
And before i get too "gloomy" I am actually enjoying CoX even more than I used to, and I look forward to everything that the Dev's have planned for us -
Quote:I would be careful about that, as I for one *KNOW* that several of his friends DO have Aspergers Syndrone and they do play CoX.People who ***** about it that much usually don't have actual Aspergers, just internet-self-diagnosed Assburgers.
And yes, they have complained just in the fashion that Techbot actually posted (And I have heard them be like this over Skype)
So what was your complaint again? -
Quote:Thing is, even with the necessary qualifiers people *STILL* take it as gospel and not subject to change etcI think the communication/information is poor in this game. It would be nice to know some highlights about the next year etc. I know this scares them to death but just qualify any news by noting it is subject to change. Then any whiners can just read that
As an example, the release date for I19 was listed with an "'ish" date.. ok, not perfect but people still went and started complaining about the dev's breaking promises etc. Granted, maybe the dev's shouldn't have put the date up on a slide at the meet and greet, BUT they did put -ISH onto the end of it.
No matter what you do, some people will grasp at straws when something happens/doesnt happen -
QR: Good luck for the future, dont be a stranger to the EU servers... we loved having you over here!

What a miserable start already! You heard it here from Gangrel_EU folks!
All in all, a huge improvement to earlier on

Not for me!

Quote:As an idea... the 800lb Gorilla MMO has only released 3 (yes 3) expansions... that is 3 content updates, 3 "continents" in the 6 years that it has released.. but with each and every expansion it has also trashed ALL the level cap content that it had previously.Really, it all comes down to content, and content is the reason I don't believe the developers would ever make "regular" content. Right now, they seem to be trying to be cheeky and act like they're just adding more level 50 content on top of all the other level 50 content, which means they'll take the easy route and add a few TFs every now and then. The only way we're going to see regular Incarnate content is if they start treating the Incarnate system as its own level range and give that its own regular content, but I highly doubt this is going to happen, for reasons of cost and investment, if nothing else.
Think back to the times we've gotten a level cap increase in the past, once with I1 and once again with I7. Each time we got a VERY belated Issue which didn't exactly have a ton of content to it, and in the case of I1 was padded to hell and back. This is what would need to happen for the Incarnate system several times over, and that is simply not something I expect the developers to be willing to commit to, when just adding a couple of TFs per Issue is so much cheaper.
Talking from experiance, I was near the cap before its 1st expansion released.. but never taken part in end game content.. then came the expansion, and i was getting better than raid gear from completing normal gear.
Raising the level cap, is NOT an idea that would work with CoX *now*, unless you effectively want to trash everything that players have worked for previously. Of course, if you make gear "level-less" then what is the point of taking part in more end game content.
Personally, the level shifts *work* for me... even if you slot just to avoid the "level deficit" at least you are getting a bonus on top of your existing build, whilst also working towards a better goal. -
Well thats nice and fun for the EU players seeing as we could only get Going Rogue via NCsofts Store... we had zero EU boxes....
-
ok, maybe adumb question... what if you bought the game direct (EU) from Ncsoft themselves... could you still apply the code to your "ncsoft account" and claim the 30 days?
-
Dont give it away, move it into the front room (or hidden away) and use it as a media center!

QR: I use Opera, and for those who dont want to even try it due to lack of lastpass support... Opera 11 has extension support, and lastpass is one of them (now just waiting for XMarks to get ported

Quote:*EDIT* Maybe, maybe not... remember that the ITF was a challenge (and still is) for quite a few players, and that doesn't hit +4 unless you want it to. There are other ways to make the game challenging without just ramping up the level cap for players for each Incarnate Slot unlocked...With the level shifts, incarnate system is* level 51-60 content. Just without new zones. And:
-it will break supersidekicking
-it will break interval-leveled missions (that is, a mission from a contact in normal content will scale to your characters level so long as the character is within the contacts level range)
-it will break expanded difficulty settings
And those are the selling points of this game.
* a level 50 character with an Alpha slot level shift is effectively 51. And I strongly suspect this is why the I19 TFs are locked at 54 - so the players do not outlevel them on gaining their rare Alphas. But this means I20 incarnate content will need to be 55 to provide just as much "challenge" to characters that already have a level shift as the I19 did for fresh incarnates. And so on for the following slots.
Of course, I can not know with certainty that this is the path the devs are planning to take. But I have and will speak out against it, because by the time it is confirmed (open beta) it will be too late to change.
Now, to get around the whole "increasing the level cap just to provide a challenge"... why dont the Dev's use their GM code on the final bosses, so that they will con purple full stop... (or maybe that is what they are planning to do for the next round of stuff)
-
QR: That is assuming that every Incarnate slot will offer a level shift at some point.

If you are getting into a 6 minute submit loop, chances are that no matter what you post would get lost.
Most browsers/forum software/servers will drop/end the connection after a sensible time where there is NO response from either end.
BUT seeing as you *so far* appear to be the one who seems to suffer the 5-6 minute loop it could be hard to pin down on the server side.
Now I am NOT denying that there are problems with the forum software, some of which are liable to be tied in the interface to the NCsoft account back end (ie the inactive account/unable to login setup).. whilst some others shouldn't necessarily happen (ie the new post marking being accurate, and taking you to the correct post).
The timing out on submitting a post, that can be down to several things that may or may not be trivial to resolve (due to various nips and tweaks that they have done to the board software, it can be messier to resolve).
Note: for me, if a webpage EVER takes more than about 45-60 seconds to resolve, especially on a submit, i restart from scratch. This is because sods law there will be a problem, and the page will just crash out. I then try back 5 minutes later. Hell, due to how the old forums were, i still out of habit write the majority of posts in notepad++ and then C+P them into here... -
QR: Shouldnt give issues, but testing in Grandville is more than likely the place to test what the WORST framerate you can expect...
