IC: In character
OOC: Out of character
Here's my two cents, for what they're worth.
GG isn't dying. It's changing, evolving. Sadly this has involved people "leaving the nest". I myself left and regretted it for months, losing ties with two of my best friends here. Jennybear and Wordy himself.
Personally I have seen an exodus of late. More often than not, I find GG empty. Or a scattering of new faces selling their wares, metaphorically.
I'm horrified about the DC MMORPG news, but hopefully it'll live up to expectations when it arrives. Hell after CoH they'll have to be good to avoid the same mistakes.
But regardless. I've made a point of avoiding the same mistakes I made last time. Keeping relationships between my character and another out of the equation, and not relying on others to be around.
Like Gideon said, lulls do happen. If I had the time, I'd be pushing for 50 too, just to get it over and done with. But till I do hit 50, GG will be the place I go to. -
You can get arrested for that, yet criminals worldwide get away with murder, [censored], terrorism and worse all the time!?
And they say the world's NOT gone to hell??? -
Hmmm well originally Ironclad was a concept for an invulnerable ex-GI from WW1 with no superstrength whatsoever. but over time he evolved to become what he is now.
What I thought was that at his current level he could bench press 6 tons, Hand Clap has long been an option but it annoys me lol. Reason I mention it is I find it a bit too silly too say that a non-superstrong figure could bring his hands together with such force as to create a shockwave that catapults enemies through the air.
Eventually, upon reaching lvl 50, I had intended to RP his strength had increased exponentially allowing him to lift with effort roughly 40 tons.
I know the game doesn't give much to support a super strong character, but given that ss is one of comics' standard powers....
On top of that, after Hurl you get Leg Stomp which involves stamping so hard the ground trembles?
I dunno, guess I'll play it by ear. Have no intention of RPing a Superman figure but the character concept is based upon him being superhumanly strong and very hard to hurt. -
Surely the force required to uproot a piece of tarmac is more than a ton? To hold it and throw it, yes. But to actually get it out of the ground first?
Reason I'm asking is I RP Ironclad as being SUPER strong, but I want to keep it in synch with his level to some extent -
Other thing is, you need to be pretty flipping strong to rip a chunk of tarmac out of the road with your fingers and lob it at an enemy ie hurl.
-
OR you could RP that they pull their punches in fights? Like Superman ALWAYS does.
I don't think SS is that low a damage dealer, I can kill most mobs with 2 hits. -
Superstrength is a bit of a fuzzy power.
It doesn't give you any idea how strong a character actually is. So I wondered.
How much SHOULD a level one SS tank be able to lift, in an RP situation?
And furthermore, how much more per level gained? -
So should I keep them, or swap for the Fighting pool?
-
So are the passivesin Invulnerability not worth taking? *is a lvl 23 Inv/SS tank.*
-
Bridger/Rockjaw can this thread be removed? I didn't expect a simple question could cause this much grief.
-
I see your point.
But it's unlikely our characters would ever encounter each other, let alone try and outdo each other.
Are you telling me that whilst playing within an SG, you consider the actions of EVERY character you see/hear?
That sounds more like godmodding than what we're discussing.
ALL we're saying is you play it your way, we'll play it ours.
Now can we just leave it at that?
Sheesh... -
:/ I was asking if there was such an SG, or if anyone would want to form one at some point.
I'm not saying everyone SHOULD Rp the way Max, Wordy and myself do. And if we aren't affecting you, why should it matter to you? -
I never said it wasn't suited to villainy, but not being able to attack civilians???
LIke Wordy said, you have to fudge ALOT in either game to suit your own concept -
I haven't bought CoV yet, but when I do I'd be hoping to join or start an SG that consisted of antiheroes rather than villains. Examples being the Punisher, Year One: Batman, MAX Comics' Nighthawk. Basically heroes with a darker side than most.
Personally the lack of real villainy in CoV caters more for the dark hero style of play.
Anyone be interested? -
IMHO that in itself deserves to win the Anniverary prize contest.

((Only challenged? I'm feeling WAY out of my depth!
