I have several characters with all of them
  2. That should be fine then unless you hadn't elevated when the last game update was applied for some reason.

Could be worth checking that the file is updated if you change the setting in game though.

Also how often will you see any benefit from scourge for TF on anything less than an EB. The mob needs to be below 50% health for any chance of it to kick in and at that point TF without Scourge will defeat them for any minion or Lt - you might see it on a boss but its a random chance - increasing with reducing target health which means more likely for the TF on its own to defeat them.

And yes, you need to check if your backups actually work. Otherwise it's a lot of money thrown away for nothing. As is clear from this story, it can be the end of your company.

reminds me of one of the external dealers we purchase contracts from. I got a phone call " We've had a virus wipe out the data on our PC. Can you reinstall the software".
You've got to love companies that don't keep their AV up to date.
Talked them through reinstalling the system until we got to the point where I asked them to copy their database from their backup only to be told they didn't have one so they got stuck with starting with an empty database having just lost about 8 years worth of sales leads.
That triggered our dealership department sending out a notice reminding all the dealers of the importance of backups.

My question is does it remain unlocked for these characters? If so, will I need to purchase VIP before I can use those characters? If not, does this mean that should I go VIP I'll have to redo the alpha slot missions again? Moreover, what would this mean for VIP players who switch to F2P for a short term?

I've scoured the internet for information, but this question has surprisingly never come up. Odd that.

They would be unlocked but unusable until they become VIP - no need to redo the mishes. They would still be able to use the character but would not have any access to the incarnate system - so no powers, mish, itrials, APEX, Tin Mage whilst premium.

On becoming VIP that access would be restored to its previous state.

  9. Are you by any chance running on Vista/Win7 with UAC enabled and running from the default install location and have NOT accepted the prompt to elevate privileges.

If so you will be picking up a standard access token cache rather than admin token original of the Program Files folder so may not be looking at the copy of the options.txt file you think you are.

The converse could also occur if you had installed without elevating and are running whilst having done so. This may also apply if you have upgraded your OS without reinstalling.

    Oops.
Thought you had said Can't do Scratch/Ganymede - hey can and can't are almost the same

It will actually still be possible as some of the tips are in PocketD but it will take forever. One of the one's Ive had would be slightly more dangerous than a delivery should be - and thats an understatement if there ever was one! So it said to speak to DJ Zero for advice. That one is called "The Undeliverable Valentine" in game but will be completable by any alignment including Praetorians - I'm sure there will be other similar ones.

An hour, fine, two hours, i can deal with too.. but a whole day?
Are you out of your mind?

Is that the same duration as the debuff of the TF options?
These are generally removed when you call the mission in to complete it.

Can't think of any in DA where this is the case - Warburg, PO, Cap, Boomtown however do. I think there may be some in Steel as well.

As others have said you take damage if you land lower than when you take off - you can see this even when running down a steep slope.

Most common reason I have known for deliberately taking falling damage was blasters using the old style Defiance to boost their damage - particularly in PVP.
  15. The ingame message last night stated this will only happen in an All Hero team - if you are teamed with a villain, rogue or Praetorian the mobs spawn at the correct level.

ParagonWiki says you can't get the mission until level 30, but is there some way around that?

I believe you can get in at lvl 1 if you are teamed with someone doing the mish which grants access.

They can replace any existing Hallowe'en tips if you receive one which would take you to more than 3 of either by the look of things. So if you still have one and want to keep it for some reason make sure you do the Valantine tips as they drop.

Why can we be part of the Scratch/Ganymede stuff, be granted the ability to get Valentips, but not do them? Especially since a huge amount seem to be here in Praetoria.

Scratch explicitely mentioned needing to team with a Hero, Vigilante or RESISTANCE member so this should work for Praetorians.

It's certainly a possibility. I'm not familiar with Seagull but there was a known bug in early versions of Firefox where its resource usage would continue to increase whilst it was open, minimising it to the taskbar and reopening was sufficient to clear it back down - didn't even need to reload the page- its not just the NCLauncher that has memory leaks . If the affected part of the code is common to the two browsers it could also affect Seagull.

Have you tried using a different browser? May also be worth checking if a new browser session exhibits the same behaviour.

You still seem to be suggesting some connection between wikipedia and the CoH wikia site.

only inasmuch as both are Wikis

However as the OP hasn't come back with any more information we are all only guessing.

    and I said IF

without knowing which page he was accessing we don't know whether something on that page is taking up excess bandwidth.
Start by ruling out the obvious. If others get the same behaviour when accessing those pages and not others it would point to a problem with the page rather than his PC. If not we can be reasonably confident its something to do with his PC somewhere.
Its also possible that some piece of malware may be hijacking his browser.

Also is this a new or existing browser session - starting a new one will put additional demands on system resources which may be sufficient on a low end PC to cause the connection to time out - again without knowing details of his system we don't know whether that is a possibility.

If he posts up the output from CoHHelper and HijackThis we can get some idea if there is anything wrong on his system. Without more details than we already have we are all just guessing.
  23. Judging by the driver dates it looks as if you are running 11.5 of Catalyst Control Centre which is known to be unstable for CoH. I'd suggest upgrading your graphics drivers - 11.9 is known to be stable - I'm not sure about the latest though.

Unrelated I'd definitely look at upgrading your Internet Explorer unless you need v6 for some reason - that has a huge number of security holes and is no longer supported by Microsoft.
The Babylon and PriceGong toolbars are a concern as they are Adware which don't vet the ads the serve up properly and have been reported as a source of malware infection

    Not quite
Windows 32 bit (and most other 32bit OSs) have a total adress space of 4Gb - this includes things like graphics memory and other hardware thats mapped to memory. There is also a 2Gb PROCESS limit, however the game does use multiple processes - in practice the game will be able to access up to about 2.5-2.75Gb.

It may be worth trying reseating your memory sticks or even testing them to see if any are faulty. Another possibility could be that you have run out of memory and are not ablt to swap it out to disk - swap file too small/disabled or insufficient contiguous free space on your hard disk or a bad sector on the disk in the middle of the swap file.
It could also be some other software on your system that has a memory leak.
  25. Not to mention if he's accessing the old wikia site the malware on it could be causing problems - same goes for any other infected site
