I will say that I think I have to agree with MrHassenpheffer's last two posts in the overall though. But who am I to judge, I haven't even finshed high school yet (ughhh!).
I have now seen both of this kids two posts and I have to say that if he is 14 like he claims, then he is one of the most mature 14 year olds I have ever seen. He even makes me a little ashamed about some of my snippy comments in the past.

Good for you kid for being more mature than a lot of the adults playing this game (myself included sometimes).
  2. Thanks Avatea, but . . . um . . . this has already been posted on several threads now. For a while now as a matter of fact.
  3. Store is back up and we can buy the Mutant Pack!

ZOMG! That's funny. I am so going to do that next time I go there!

I had a friend in the Marines with me that used to go back to his home town in Rhode Island every year to visit his family. Every year he would come back and complain that he was driving "half asleep" all the way through the state and would be twenty miles out the other side before he realised where he was. Apparently it was only a "short zone out" but twice as long as it needed to be to miss the state entirely.
  5. Obviously it doesn't say, but it could have something to do with this quote:

"Unfortunately, the heroic and self-serving Seers have short life spans, though their life spans are longer than they would have been without Seer training and augmentations. Every Seer was at one time an unstable and dangerous psychic."

Maybe something about the "training and augmentation" damages them in some way. Then again it could have something to do with them being "unstable" to begin with. Lastly, they could be killed off when they start getting too powerful.

Who knows, maybe we will find out later.
  6. Caligdoie, this is why.

So not really ironic, more pathetic of Rhode Island than anything.

This ended up being a form of PvP to get the codes, when they really could have just said 'be logged in on any of our servers from X to X times, and we'll send 1 or 2 lucky people per server the Mutant Pack code!'

No PvP stupidity, no giving people a rush of WOW, I GOT IT! followed by a no, I wasn't fast enough. This was executed poorly.
Unfortunately that is how MOST contests/give-aways are. Ever buy a raffle ticket and listen to the announcer call off the winning ticket number, only to have it be the guy (or girl) that bought a ticket right after you, win the prize?

I would like to say sorry for your hurt feelings, but you are the one that brought it on yourself. You made a decision to try and play, now you have to live with the consequences of not winning.
  8. Not that it matters now, but I am not so sure that the initial July release date was "made up" by Amazon. I found the following quote from Examiner.com:

"NCSoft announced this morning an August 17th release date for their City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion pack. Going Rogue had been slated to release July 20."

Here is the link in case you want to check it out:

    Anyways, you decide.
  9. More? Really, The_Alt_oholic is ranting about the character slots again? Can someone please lock this thread too? Ocho? Would love ya for it.
  10. Overall some good fixes. Thank you to the team for getting these out.

I would like to make one request though, could we get these notes posted at about the same time the patch goes out? Also, could the website get updated with these patch notes sometime today? Obviously I do not speak for everyone, but waiting several hours to find out what I am downloading is slightly annoying and then when I go to the main website and can't find the info at all . . . aggravating. At least the forums had them, but not til a few hours after the patch and looking things up in the forums is a whole new annoyance in and of itself.

Not trying to rant, just a suggestion.

Right about the time that the new GR excitement is waring off. Makes no sense to release GR and a free issue at the same time imo.
The "delay" part is probably right, but Issue 18 is NOT the Incarnate issue, that is Issue 19.

Issue 18 coming out at the same time as Going Rogue is an assumption based on what happened with CoV.
I found the post I was look for and it was by Avatea. It was not stated directly, but since it is in the closed beta forums I don't dare say more than I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that Issue 18 will come out at the same time as, or very closely to the time GR releases (before or after, hard to say). It seems the two may actually be linked and have to come out at the same time.

I am actually suprised, to be honest, that they haven't talked about Issue 18 at all as a separate Issue or even named it. Especially since you have to buy GR to play the content, but Issue 18 will be "free" to everyone. Seems they would want to push that a little. Weird.

Actually, I remember reading somewhere in the forums that Issue 18 is supposed to release at the same time or very shortly after GR releases. Then Issue 19 comes along with the Incarnate System (I am trying to find it now so I can put in a link to it). So that would make at least two updates for the rest of this year. Can someone else verify this or post the link if you find it before me?

I got a little interested in the marketing and decided to see what AMD and Razor had to say about this. That was disappointing. Neither lists the release date and both link to GameStop.com to pre-purchase, which still does not list a release date. Just for giggles I went to Amazon.com and the wrong release date is still listed there (July 20th if anyone wanted to know).

Anyways it is good to finally have a solid date. Thanks Paragon Studios!

I have to agree with Decorum here. Except that I would be willing to chew my own foot off to avoid facebook and twitter or any of their dopplegangers out there on the web.
  15. I have to admit that only two new maps would be disappointing . . . but then I see what else they are doing with GR and I lose almost all of my disappointment. So I decided to go back and look at what Ms. Bianco said in regards to the maps and here it is:

"We have four new zones that take place in Praetoria and with this new universe we're introducing some new mission map sets as well."

Now I know Golden Girl said an earlier interview stated two new map sets but at least in my world "some" does not mean two. A couple means two, but not "some". My thinking is that MAYBE things have changed as time goes on. I know, I am being horribly optimistic here, but it makes sense anyways.

On top of that I can't help but thinking that these "map sets" are little more than skins placed over a pre-made framework. I've talked to several people now that are familiar with the technology and they all have looked at the in-game graphics and agree that I am most likely right on this. So that would mean that even if it is only two new "skins" placed over pre-existing maps . . . that is a huge amount of "new" map sets.

To fall back on my original thought though: The sheer volume of things being done with GR and in Issue 18 and 19 immediately following will not be disappointing.

Now if they could just update the CoX website so I can use it to help me recruit more players again. After all, the Paragon Studios marketing plan seems to be relying on word of mouth more than anything.
  16. Cool, now we have a recent Ex-GameStop manager letting us know that they do indeed use placeholder dates.

As for the July/Summer/September arguement . . . guess we'll see sooner or later.

I can't answer that either. I don't know any Ex-GameStop employees nor have I heard/read anything from someone claiming to be one.

Personally I hope GR waits until after July to release. I would rather they do as much as possible to "perfect" GR instead of rushing it like Issue 17.

My simple point though was that Paragon Studios has not said the target "date" of July has been changed even when they later said Summer 2010.

While technically still summer, it is a pet peeve of mine because it is soooooooo much better from a company standpoint to build good will and leverage marketing to say "fall" and then launch it a bit early. They did the exact same thing with i17. It makes you look like a hero instead of a drag-a**. Which given the frequency and extent of updates we've been getting they could use all the good will they can muster.

I know I'm betting the farm on GR for my account because we've been told it is going to be so great and innovative and we just need to keep holding in there while things fester elsewhere in the game. I'm hopeful they deliver because I want to maintain an interest in this game and for it to do well.
Not to beat a dead horse here, BUT July is summer folks. I personally do not think they can release GR in July and make it a good product, but until an official date is named I will still hope for it.

BTW, I have now found two "release dates" for GR from other sources. Amazon.com said somewheres around July 20th (can't remember the exact date) and when I asked a GameStop manager to check it, he said the 1st of September. So either would fit the "stealth edit" theory of Summer 2010, but only July fits what has previously been announced by Paragon Studios.

Basically, we are in that nasty "wait and see" stage until someone from Paragon Studios throws us a bone.

*Edit: Aug 17th. for the release. Not July, but better than September. I can live with that.

Unfortunately, as some of you have already noticed, Formspring’s word limitation does not allow you to submit your questions and all of the necessary information we require of you. We are currently working on another solution. In the meantime, we have disabled the CoH Formspring page.

We are planning to have a more functional method in place to allow you to submit your questions and enter the contest soon. We will be able to update you on Monday what that method will be. Until then, what I would ask is that you hold onto your questions for now. The Dev Q+A will still take place, and we will still be giving away prizes.

Thank you for your time and understanding!
Ok, now this might just get me to check it out. Thanks for the info BP.
  20. I am pretty sure I will not be attending this event as I did the last one, BUT I do have a suggestion to make it go better.

A few days before the event put out a "GR Fact List" detailing everything that you have released about the game to date. Then tell everyone in advance that you will not be answering any questions already answered on the list or not pertaining to the game.

This way we get "updated" on the game in advance AND we don't have questions to things we should already know about (or could have if we looked hard enough).

    Anyways, just a thought.
  21. Maybe I am too positive, but this particular interview gave just the perfect amount of info to keep us interested without giving too much away. I am pretty impressed considering the general lack of new info that has been circulated lately.

I just wish she would have given the Paragon Studios planned release date for GR.

Umm . . . really? Your upset because they are calling it a giveaway instead of a contest? Wow, some people will complain about anything.

I see that the question of character slots was brought up and not answered - as far as I can tell - multiple times - here and in other threads.

I see no reason to go "Champions Online" with us in regards to character slots.

If we can get what we came to expect as far as new character slots with an expansion, then please explain why it is the case.

Why is it that 2 is some how the magic number, or was this a joke?

    Thanks.
Bringing back a thread a month and a half dead just so you can berate the Art Lead about your not getting enough free slots with the release of GR? You could have at least addressed your complaint to the right people in a private PM.
  24. Very cool on almost every front and I am definately looking forward to hearing about the new stuff.

But the 21 and over event is a little uncool. I seem to remember a lot of recent requests and back-up from other players asking that this kind of event be avoided. Just a little disappointing there.

Still, all in all sounds awesome, wish I could make it there.
  25. Well, seeing as I am in Hawaii and have no way I could attend any of the Cons I guess my opinion doesn't mean much, BUT it seems that something a little more "central" in the states would have been better than another coastal event. Spread the wealth and all.

Anyways, Grats to the NYCC crowd.
