According to Positron, that's still being worked on. They want a solution to please an many players as much as possible. (Not the exact quote, but close enough, I think)

It'd be nice, however, if we can pick the rate of conversion (and even stop - NOT reverse - it).
You should be able to stay a Vigilante or Rogue. It's an entire process your have to go through before your flip alignments. I assume if you don't finish the process, you can stay in mid-conversion indefinitely.

Preatorians seem to be able to move freely between all three worlds no matter what, so their becoming a "Hero" or "Villain" may refer only to what missions they can access. This makes me wonder about something, though, it says Preatorians can "choose" which they want to be and it dumps them in the given world. Does that mean the portals that connects the worlds all connect to both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles? Or are the portals in separate places? (Like Pocket D and RWZ) It seems like it would be the other way around, the Preatorian would choose the Paragon City gate, and it would make him a Hero when he passed through.

I think we're also interested in who can trade with who. Can Vigilantes give Inspirations to Rogues and Preatorians? Can heroes trade with Vigilantes? (Since they share the same Market) What about Preatorians?
Posittron said there will (probably) be both markets in Praetoria they have some sort of cross dimensional trading ability.

Praetorian PC's will have to make a choice before traveling to Primal Earth: Hero or Villain. At that point they are what they picked and are treated like any Primal Earth PC of that alignment.

And Positron said no trading between alignments except for inspirations (A nice new QoL change as well).

Well we know one one common trait of all Marcus Coles across the multiverse. They all dye their hair.
  5. I've finally finished uploading my most of my shots of Justice players that where at Herocon. They include hallway shots and the Justice tables at the banquet. If misssed someone in this first pass, I've got lots of other photo which I'll be uploading eventually. And I haven't got time to caption the pictures today. I've got to pack up, check out and get back out on road. Got a hankering to see trees. Really BIG trees...

In the mean time, Justice Players at Herocon 2009

  7. Not to be nosy or anything, but I was killing time reading forums threads while copying photos from my camera to PC. I got a couple of Photo Albums on Google for the keynote and for the Praetorian Character's Design panel. And to add and correct a couple of things in Ravenswing's posts.

    (Going) Rogue's Gallery

    Praetorian Character Design Panel

Bruce Harlick's Red Name on the forums is Horatio. Bruce was the first employee of Hero Games the folks who created the Champions Pen and Paper Role Playing Game. It's the source material that Cryptic bought for their Champions Online MMORPG. Brute Harlick wrote (or had a hand in creating) most of it. Bruce joined Paragon Studions last summer. I'm very excited to see him her. He's a talented writer, and I look forward to his work on City of Heroes.

And Hamidon Paslima and his creations (The Devoured Earth) do show up on Praetorian Earth. They should up much earlier then they did on Primal Earth. The only effect weapons on Praetorian Earth were Powers (super powered being) and nuclear weapons. The world governments were very careless (I assume with they nukes) and make a mess of the environment. The apperance of the Devoured Earth ravaging the earth prompted the people of Praetorian Earth to as Marcus Cole to save them. Praetoria is a safehaven for humanity from the of the plant. And that means we'll probably be fighting Devoured Earth from a very low level on Praetoria.

    *cries*
No. Any character at any level can switch sides at any time as many times as you wish. You can only start a core AT character in Praetoria. Before they come to Primal Earth they have to pick a side (Hero or Villain)

(Note: There is a minimum level for switching sides. But Positron wasn't saying what it was.)

A Whip e-mote for everyone was requested at the "Woudn't be great..." panel. The reasons for it being a fire whip was due to how to deal with the coiling and uncoiling of the whip in and out of combat. But Back Alley Brawler said that he would look into it and see what they could do.

Edit: Oh and couple of nice QoL changes that will in in the next issue (no idea when). The last 10% of enemies (for defeat all missions) and clickies will show on the mini-maps. And Hero1 will see about fixing old missions/contacts do they giving you their telephone number much, much sooners (perhaps after the first mission).

I wonder what archtypes Praetoria will have. If hero-side was team oriented, and villain-side was damage oriented....
Praetoria will only have the 10 core ATs. No HEATS or VEATS.

    P.S.

Let me shoot Hardcase in the face.
Vigilante's are able to visiting the Rogue Isles but they will be lock out of some (most?) red side content directly. They will be able to experience content when teamed with Villains red side.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not a direct comparison, but some of the new ultra-mode stuff is in the rival MMORPG's client. Some of the settings makes my NVida 9900GT scream at me. Take that with a huge grain of salt as the rival mmorpg game engine was a total rewrite (and still has issues on people's high-end PC (aka low frame rate on "normal" settings).

But I would hazard a guess of yes as COH/V game client is very mature and stable. I'll try to ask a dev tomorrow about hardware specs needs to run Ultra-mode settings.

Question though, will All of CoH look like this? or just after you purchase Going Rogue?

All of CoH/V will look like that. The Ultra-mode is just higher end video effects you can turn on (in advanced mode). And I assume Ultra will be a settings beyond the current high end Quality (simple) video setting. Praetoria will look extra awesome in ultra mode as all of the artwork is totally new for the new zones.

  15. I'm finally there, er, here, ah, whatever. After 3 days of driving, I'm finally in San Jose. Rearrin' and Ready to go.

OK. Maybe a I need a little down time. ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......
  16. I started off this morning like this. Cold and Damp in the Texas Panhandle

Went to this a bit latter when I hit New Mexico: Really cold and Snow!!!!

But finally wound up like this in the afternoon in Arizona

And a sunset well into Arizona

And my new car gets really good gas mileage...some of the time.

  17. Well it went, frrom cool and rain to really cold and snow near Moriarty , NM. There was even snow accumulating on tthe ground. And as I post this it bright and sunny in the mid 60s in Holdbrook, AZ.

Villains still vex me. To network my Lapop to my phone, I need a softwarre package which I have to download from tthe 'Net. Curses!! (which is a geek joke, too. Seems very apropro here)

    Maybe a few pics tonight.
  18. Cold, dark, rainy in the TX panhandle on Wed. morning. Hotel Wifi wasn't woking either. So no pictues until stop for lunch. Need time to config laptop foe tethering laptop to phone. It's sort of new too. (I reinstall the OS to a 64 bit version)

    Onward and upwa..., er, westward.
  19. As promised here are a few photos.

Here is me in my new set of wheels. Everything portable I own is now battery powered, including my car.

And don't get all too excited, but here I am on the road.

And a direct link to the photo album on Google.
  20. I hope it's not too late to add me to the dinner list. That Rival MMORPG has monopolized my attention for the past month and a half. (Which showed me that I really needed a break from COH)I forgot to inquire about about the Justice dinner and submit my AE arc for the contest . But I'll have my car with me. I can (theoretically) take 4 others (if everyone exhales).
  21. I'm on the road for my annual prilgrimage of the holeyest of holeys, HEROCON. I'm in mid Oklahoma, I'll post a few pictues as I make my way cross country. I've got a new camera, flash and a new set of wheels. Been looking forward to this trip since summer.

Well enough tiping, diner break is over and the road becons. More later...

There is a LOT of infringing characters in CO. Far more then their GM's can handle ATM. I last few days I play CO, I say 3, count 'em, 3 Hellboys, Superman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Doctor Strange, Spartan, Flash, Batman. And that's just off the top of my head.
  23. My forum handle is my namesake first character make during the CoH beta. The inspiration for character came from the character creation screen where you pick the character model, heigh, physique, etc. I saw the glowy energy form of the model, and I thought (said) I want THAT to be my costume. I can't tell you how disappointed I was then I couldn't get that as a costume. But the character being an energy being stuck with me.

I wanted a simple character to play so I could focus on learning how the game worked and how MMORPGs worked. Being CoH was my first MMORPG that caught my attention and held. A Tanker sounded simple enough. They are tough and punch villain, and I like Bricks as heroes. Picking powers for an energy being, Energy Melee looked like a nice fit. And Invulnerability sounded perfect for a Brick.

Now for the costume, I saw I could spend hours in the costume designer especially since I stink at that type design work. But I wanted to get into the game ASAP. I settled in the Metallic costume theme, picked Blue a the main color (my favorite). Black as a secondary color and the Blend pattern. For the head? Full Helmet, nice and simple. And finally onto the name.

Another thing I stink at: picking good names. I settled for being not so creative and picked "Fusion" as the character name. But to my consternation, the name "Fusion" was already taken. So I tried out various hominyms and psudeo-names. 'Fuzun' popped out and I liked it. Then click Enter Paragon City. So the tutorial, and then finally into Atlas Park with the glorious view and background music. What a magic feeling....

Fuzun was to be just a throw away character. Get my feet wet, learn the basics and them go create a "real" character. But overtime, I got to like the big lug. I like him so much, I re-rolled him on the first day of head start. And he went on to become my first level 50. He dinged during evening of Thanksgiving in 2004. (And also got me access to Kheldians...Issue 3 had just hit the Test Server earlier that week. And that's a whole other story....)
  24. During Beta I tried out various settings for my WP/Stone Melee Tanker. Turns out my limits are +2(x8) vs Nemesis without using any Tier 9 or Inspirations. I wasn't really in danger of defeat, but OMG it was slow going. And 4 Stacked Vengance is very, very brutal brutal.
  25. For me, Reveal has been one of those "I don't use it often, but it's indispensable when I do use need it" powers. Even those I know all of the instance maps by mostly by heart, its the mostly part which come into play. Reveal shows me those areas I miss for maps that I dont encounter that often.
