I've noticed the same thing on Freedom Server. Three red dots. When GR first came live and I would try to sign in, it would sometimes put me in a que and let me know how long I would have to wait before I could get on. Needless to say, I have not ran into that for the past couple of months or soon after GR went live.
With that being said, I too have not noticed much change in the amount of people on Freedom in either the Blue side or Red side waltzing around zones, and this includes Praetora even though the majority of time my server will show 3 reds. Could this be a sneaky ploy by the dev's to pretend that the two most popular servers are so full with GR giddy players old and new that they are trying to give the perception that the game with GR is just so ungodly popular that people just can't stop playing it?
Ever since I've been with CoX Jan. 09 and some of the 2004-2005 era, whenever there was an upgrade or added issue that may have had some substantial content, (case in point when City of Villains was added) the activity on the servers that one normally sees, would usually settle back down from the three red dots down the the two or one green dot. My gut feeling is either the dev's reduced the numbered allowance per servers on how many players each server can handle to "help" give the illusion that GR is much more popular than it really is or we have a plethora of people out there in never never land that just don't exist as we never see them and this is causing the three red dots for Freedom and Virtue? -
Hmmm, maybe that would be the reason. Most of my toons are Mutants so I always get that multiple choice question from her.
-
I've this arc many many times and every time when I get to Sister Psyche in Independence Port, she will give you that multiple choice question that you have to answer. Needless to say, every time I answer one or the other she replies with "Sorry, wrong answer". I have come to the conclusion that there is not a correct answer being that I've picked them both when she talks about Mutants. Something about the industrial age was one question and the other said something about the Vampyri.

Quote:Shield Charge huh? Hmmm must be good? Thanks for that input. If SD will give me more defense like you say, then I will be happy. Most scrappers are a bit fragile early on: SD is especially prone to this, because it is a heavy defense-based set.
However, once SD matures it is very nice, and once it is fully constructed it becomes a true monster. Getting accolades and healing powers can help as well, as noted above.
Yes, it is nice to have 'clicky' powers to refill your status bars, but it is even nicer to be at the point where you can simply ignore those bars completely.
A km/sd should have serious damage potential and the defenses to handle the crowds to make it shine. It will NOT be cheap or easy to reach the upper ranks with such a build, however. Also, Shield Charge will cover up many issues with it's sheer awesome.
I will recommend that you look at a claw/willpower, or after I19 hits, perhaps a claws/inv. Both of those are a bit of a struggle early, but once they get mature are RIDUCULOUSLY sturdy and also very nice on the damage output.Keep in mind I'm still 20 levels away from 50. I know that getting good enhancements will only help.

Since I had so much fun with my now level 50 fire/fire Scrapper, I decided to build another one a couple of weeks ago. I now have a level 29 Kin Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper. Don't get me wrong by my title for this post, I love my KM/SD so far. The thing though that I loved about my fire/fire was her ability to get end and health back rather quickly with Consume and Healing Flames. It's nice to know that I didn't have to keep popping inspirations all the time to make up for this.
For my KM/SD though it doesn't seem I don't have that luxury. Yes, maybe I can build up my defense through SD to give me some edge there but dang, that Consume was something I loved when my end would drop. As a Scrapper, we know you can get into some very heated battles and cannot afford the tiniest pauses in end or health without making sure we have enough inspirations for the battle. As I said before, I have no complaints for my KM/SD as this is only my second Scrapper build. I think the only real way someone can learn about what these Primary and Secondary's do is build one and try it out, which is what I have done on a lot of my toons.
Anyone else have some thoughts on my missing these two guys, Consume and Healing Flames? -
Well, after bantering with a co-worker, he suggested that I didn't need a fancy keyboard for gaming so I went to Fry's Electronics and picked-up a cheap $15 dollar Logictech K120 keyboard. It worked okay but after about 2 1/2 weeks, I just woke up one morning and looked at my keyboard and said, why didn't I get the one that I really wanted? You know, we all have had it. Buyers Remorse.
So, the good thing is my 30 day return was still valid so I brought my cheap keyboard back to the store and picked-up a Razer Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Keyboard.
I've had it now for almost a week. The biggest thing I first noticed was the 1ms response time on the keys. You would think that you would not notice when you press a button for an action and see the response time but you do. It just seems to flow much smoother, which of course makes the game that much more enjoyable. I also like how the keys sit lower as I do type fast and don't want to have to raise my fingers up too high to get to the next key. I have not tried to program any macros yet. It does seem pretty self explanatory based on the drop down you get for setting up specific keys. It seems I am still intimidated by macros and binds and I shouldn't be. I know now I have a kick-butt keyboard that should be able to handle this.
Any walk throughs on anyone who already has one of these keyboards and how you input your macros would be great. Otherwise, I can and hopefully eventually figure it out when I have time. -
Quote:It seems that every other one of these post has an issue with the Demons and I would hope the Dev's take notice of that as it does get annoying at times when I play my MM and watching others standing around by a vendor with their Demon pets making those ungodly roaring sounds.I'm going to have to agree with everyone commenting about the demons being too loud and too frequent with the roaring.
I'm also not very fond of the kinetic melee sounds. Its also too loud and the buzz is too annoying when you hear it over and over again. I mean, it sounds cool once... but the frequent attacks have me turning off my speakers and getting no audio cues from the game at all just because I can't stand listening to KM anymore. I won't even play KM... tried and it got old fast. Having to deal with KM teammates... speakers off.
As for the Kinetic Melee. I just got my KM/SD Scrapper to level 22. I guess this being my first exposure to the new power, I really have no pros or cons on their sound effects but when I picked-up Body Blow last night and used it, it kind of sounded like an old rusty swing set that my Grandpa had out behind his house. When you swung, you would always hear that "creaking" rusty metal sound. I am not sure what else would work here based on the visual effects that are displayed when used? Maybe more of a "swishing" type sound like the wind because your hand movements are pretty much "swishing" in the air. I don't know, did the Matrix characters have sound effects when they threw a punch, I can't remember? -
Quote:Thanks for that. I found the entrance and the exit fairly easily after the directions and I got the Exploration badge to boot!I edited my picture above to show the 3 exit points on the map, and added a draft image to the Wiki as well:

Question: How does one access the Behavioral Facility in Imperial City? It seems when you get too close, you get zapped with gas or something that will eventually kill you. I know there has to be a way because I saw in one of the pre-GR videos that people where inside this area. Not sure if this is only accessible by doing a TF or what?

SUBJECTIVE:
I got to thinking about this one when others have said that the sound the MM's Bots make when they run sounds like a heard of Elephants romping around. What if we added a "hydraulic" type sound. For example, watch Robo Cop and hear the sounds Robo Cop makes when he walks around. Also the large ED-209 Enforcement Droid sound that it made when it walked around. I don't know I think it would be cool. It's just a thought.

Question on this power. I just picked it up last night based on what some people have said as a "must have" and a "must have early" type power. So, I got it at level 10 for my KM/SD Scrapper in Praetoria. Based on what paragonwiki says, this effect will stack up to 5 times. Can someone explain to me what that means when they refer to "stacking" as I am not sure I've heard that term often when describing powers. Also, I have not noticed my enemies life bar dropping much when I use this power with KM. I currently have it slotted with 3 Increased Attack Rates enhancements. And for those that use this power, is it really all that great or did I just buy into the hype?

OBJECTIVE:
First and foremost, lets find a way to maybe change the sound when you get a your first initial "tell" message. Normally, I keep my chat window minimized as to not interfere with the action at hand. Otherwise you cannot hear the "ding" when you have your own sound effects going in the background. I have missed many team invites because I never heard the "ding" sound. Not sure what this can be replaced with when getting initial tells so we can hear them better? Maybe even a pop-up message box in its place on the initial tell to let you know that you have a message, not sure if this would help? I say "initial" tells only because when you are on a team, the normal chat "beeps" are fine since you are already viewing the messages. I've added this one in the Objective section since I have posted request on this before and others have agreed on this suggestion.
Second, I would have to agree with others on the frequency and maybe volume of the screams for the MM's with Demon Summoning. I have my own and even I get annoyed sometimes at the roaring sounds that some of my pets make. Either less frequency or lower the pitch or screams they make might help.
SUBJECTIVE:
Not sure if this has been addressed since the past few updates. On my level 50 Duel/Elec Blaster, I originally had the Lightning Field for a secondary power, which when tuned on, would make this annoying crackling sound that was way too overpowering on my other powersets. It got so bad that I had to respec out of it and dump it. I even did a posting on it in these forums wanting to find a way to either turn that sound off or find a way to minimize the sound but because the sound effect volume controls only work on all your powers as a whole, I didn't want to lose the effects of my other powers. Also, I was happy to notice within the past few issues that Super Speed used to be as bad with the constant humming when this power was turned on. Now SS only makes that sound on the initial toggle on then goes quiet which was a good idea.
Kinetic Melee sound effects. I just recently started up my second Scrapper a KM/SD and this is the first time I got to hear the effects of KM. As some have stated, that it sounds like a jet taking off. I kind of like the effect so far being that it seems to work with the visual effects versus maybe another sound that might be "clanky" or slow. Of course, the jury is still out since GR is still in its baby stages and new things are learned everyday. -

I just started up my second Scrapper in Praetora. Currently a level 7 KM/SD. My first Scrapper was a Fire/Fire. For my KM/SD when using my toggle power Deflection Shield, it appears that my melee is limited to one hand attacks. When I turn this off it appears that I am now using both hands in my attacks. With that being said, am I seeing things or is this meant to be meaning that if I want to impose more damage, I need to turn off my Deflection Shield so I can use "both" hands for my Quick Strike, Smashing Blow or other melee attack powers and if I want to sacrifice some damage for more protection I need to turn my Deflection Shield on? Am I seeing this right or does it not matter if I have my shield held in my left hand or not?
-
Yeah, luckily it came back up within that hour and I was able to add my toon back on. I never had that happen before thus I was kinda spooked in thinking they changed it all of a sudden...
-
I just started up one after having so much fun with my now level 50 fire/fire Scrapper. This KM/SD will be my second Scrapper so far. As some have said in this post, I love the special effects of KM. I even incorporated the effects in my toons bio saying "with her unique kinetic ability to bend molecules to form matters of energy that can cause massive damage during her attacks.""
Right now, I'm in Praetora sitting at level 6 as of this morning. The thing I liked about my fire/fire Scrapper was the ability to solo very well and in team play, she could sub as a Tank now and then and do a lot of damage.
I am anxious to see how my KM/SD turns out. BTW her name is Indominitra. I've got her bio on CIT for those that are on that. Bascially it says "she is one that cannot be subdued or overcome and is unconquerable and indomitable". -
Darn! And I had a toon all ready to roll into Praetora and when I got there, I realized I misspelled her name which sucks!....Any idea how long this stays down when this type of thing happened before?
-
Must be a glitch then? Hmmmm
-
I recently got 12 toons on Freedom Server and had another one that I added then deleted again as I misspelled the name,.
Anyways, when I went back into Freemdom to reload the character again, it showed my 12 active slots with my 12 toons and the other slots were locked? Am I missing something here? Thanks

For those of you who use this site to track your toons progress, I just starting using this last night. I downloaded Glycerine to help automatically track my toons progress. So, this morning, I tried it out. I had Glycerine running while I signed in with one of my toons that I added to the CIT site. For some reason, nothing was transferred over regarding my stats. Not sure what I need to initiate further? I would sign into Glycerine on my desktop, it would show my toons on the active list. I would then sign into CoH with my toon. Do I need to do something else in order to have Glycerine to transfer my stats over to CIT website? Thanks in advance.

So after having so much fun with my first Scrapper build, currently a level 49 Fire/Fire Scrapper, I am thinking about rolling another Scrapper build. I love the damage output of my Scrapper with adequate defenses. My next build should have either the same damage if not better with some good defenses. With my current play style, I love being able to "jump" into large groups when on a team and go-to-town! And, I love being able to solo without much of a problem.
I know everyone will have their fav's on what they like. If you guys want to throw me some ideas one why you like your particular Scrappers build, then I'd like to hear it and maybe what would be a good 1/2 combo Primary and Secondary build that I can build as my next Scrapper. I do plan on going to Praetoria with this toon until level 20 so keep that in mind based on some of the foes I might face there, if relevant. -
Because I'm lazy and I really didn't expect the Sappers to be camping out by the inside door playing cards with their buddies sippin' beers waiting for someone to come through the front door...hehe,..heh.
-
Currently doing the Crimson Story Arcs with the Malta. My level 48 Fire/Fire Scrapper can pretty much run through the Malta without too many problems but when I get an ambush when I enter the mish before I get a chance to turn all my toggles on, I am usually greeted by a Sapper and bam!! I get zapped and sure enough, I don't have any break frees available..lol and i usually wither up and die. Luckily I have my Rise of the Phoenix to knock some of these guys out.
The same holds true with my Blasters dealing with Sappers. Sappers can turn the tide on some mish'es if you don't take them out ASAP. They need to be the main "lock-on" target before you send the group in to kill everything else. Sappers are not bad and to be nerfed as the OP stated, they are just a foe that needs to be dealt with "head-on" before you move in for the other kills. Otherwise a team without endurance is a dead team. -
I've always thought about this every time I would respec my toons. I would normally take a screen shot of my power tray and my power sets before I would respec so I knew what I had before so I would know how to slot them correctly. Normally, I would just take screen shot then use Photoshop to create a preview mode so I can recall what my previous power sets where.
My suggestion would be to maybe have something in game on your power set menu screen that would show what your previous powers were as you change them and slot them again. My biggest boo boo is sometimes I forget to add "such and such" power or maybe I didn't slot this power the way I had it before. If I commit to what I have, then I'm screwed until I can respec again. I quickly threw something together in Photoshop so you can kind of get the idea of what I am talking about. Have something that would display on the bottom of the screen so when you are picking your new powers, you know what you had previously. For sections that require more visibility, the Before Box of your Current Power Sets can have a scrolling feature that you can scroll down to see all your current power sets.
I would think something like this shouldn't be that hard to implement within the game as far as programming goes. I think this will also help with the premise of making CoX the enjoyable game we all came to love and play and why we still play this game. What do you guys think about this idea?
