  1. Ever since I've been playing this game as of Jan. 09', the issue of having to see what recipes needed to be crafted has always bothered me. Now I know we have the menu thingy in the lower right corner that lets you click on a couple of options, I think one says hide all unowned recipes and forgot what the other one said? The thing that I've alway wished this game would have is a simple "hi-lighting" of what enhancements have all the proper recipes to be crafted without having to open each one up and see which ones are hi-lighted a whiter white over the dull gray enhancements which can't be crafted yet. Think about it, you go to the crafting table, open up your recipe screen and you know exactly what enhancements are ready to be crafted. It's up to you to either craft them, sell them or do whatever with them. When you open up the tab, any enhancements that can be crafted will be hi-lighted the same way. Be it a level 10 Damage or a level 50 Damage. For those working towards certain crafting badges this could be very helpful. What do you guys think about this?

  2. All my toons are on Freedom. About a week ago, I got an invite to run the Tin Mage with my level 50 fire/fire and the team lead sent me a tell which went something like this:

TEAM LEAD: "Hey do you have an Alpha Slot?"
    ME: "ahh yes"
    (no reply)......
ME AGAIN: "why do you ask?"
TEAM LEAD: "for the Tin Mage, want in?"
    ME: "sure".
    (bam! got invite)

Now, unknown to me (my fault) as I have not been reading up on when you get your Alpha Slot, if you are not slotted with a boost in your Alpha Slot and run either the Apex or Tin Mage, you will be incredibly gimped. I of course did not know this until I got on the team and found out the hard way. Needless to say, we pulled through okay and finished fine. Then the next day I got an invite for the Apex and I advised the team lead that I did not have a boost and they invited me anyways but said I will get slaughtered many times. I did but stayed on after the mish was complete to pick up some shards with my other teammates. I told my teammates that I just wanted to get shards on that TF but it was brutal without that boost. I have now been working on getting my level 50's all slotted with their boosts in the Alpha Slots which is a journey on to its self especially when running solo a lot.
  3. I will say this, when I first started out in this game back in Jan. 09', I built my first toon, a Blaster. She was very AoE oriented and can take on large mobs without any issues. My Nova was my buddy and I couldn't wait to use it. So now, after rolling a few more Blasters, a Controller, MM, Corruptor, Arachnos Widow, Dominator, Stalker and Warshade, I decided it was time to try my hand at a Scrapper. My first was a fire/fire Scrapper now level 50 and I loved it. My second build was a KM/SD Scrapper now a level 50. For someone who likes to run a lot of solo mish'es I have found that this toon was about the most solo'ish toon that I had. Meaning, I ended up raising my difficulty to +4/+1 because she could flat out dish it out. I now have a whole new appreciation for going "mano-a-mano" especially when it comes to taking down big bad bosses!
  4. Yeah it seems I have noticed a huge jump in what I will call the "local tell" spams. Back in the day, we would get the normal junk email spam, delete it and move on. Now, the spamers are becoming much more aggressive and just sending local tells to announce their doings. As some others have said, I just ignore it and move on. Now if they target me directly with a tell, then it's a different ballgame. Sort of like someone putting fliers under your windshield wipers saying you can make up to $10,000 per month working from home. Unfortunately, its part of the territory. Report them and they will be back just like a bad rash. It's okay, we know we will never go for their scams. We're smarter than that. If someone sends you an email saying you are the winner of the Nigerian Lottery and all you need to do is send in $500 to get $10 Million, well you know what to do. Delete, delete and delete.
  5. Hmmmmm, I'm really surprised there hasn't been more feedback on sounds since the end of Oct. with that two month gap in between. Must have been i19 that kept people busy..heh..heh. Anyways, been playing my level 50 KM/SD Scrapper working on getting my Alpha slotted with a boost. When I first started my toon, I wasn't too sure about the KM sound effects. I ran a TF two weeks ago and someone was thinking the Clockwork we were fighting sounded like seals yelping. Little did they know it was me and my KM sound effects. I think now the sounds do fit KM and they work for what it was intended to sound like in conjunction with the animations. Basically a burst of energy if you can imagine what that sounds like.

Duly noted and post titled changed. For the life of me, I forgot what it was called. So it appears that it is a bug. I know I wasn't imagining that once I could hover over my stuff and see what it was. To think that something so simple can be a pain if taken away.

I can tell you a few tidbits I use that may help you decide what works best for you.

To consistently fight at a level setting of +2 or higher, you are going to want strong accuracy slotting (on the order of around 60% IMO), something that gives you +toHit (or debuffs your foe's defense) or both.

+2 foes are, in my experience, some of the best reward/time across the widest array of my characters. Higher than that and they start to become hard enough to defeat (and begin to lay out enough damage) that I have to slow down. Some characters with very strong area effect attacks can break this rule of thumb.

More foes tends to be better reward/time if you have area attacks to use. If instead your character is more focused on single-target attacks, you may actually do better with fewer, higher-level foes.

I don't believe there's any clear expectation of how to set these on teams. Just to make sure you're clear on how the settings work on teams, the mission owner's setting controls the level of foes, and the number of foes is controller by the greater of the mission owner's settings and the actual team size. So a team of 6 players on a mission set to x4 is going to get 6 players' worth of foes. A team of four players on a mission set to x6 is also going to get 6 players' worth of foes.
I've just cranked up my diff settings on my level 50 KM/SD Scrapper to +4/+1. I think +4 is the max. To be honest, I have never had my diff up that high. Most of my other toons are not built to handle that kind of damage. I really didn't think my KM/SD Scrapper could handle it until I slowly kept creeping up on that level. +2 for awhile, then +3 and then +4. It can get tricky when going against a EB or Boss as they are now much much tougher. I have yet done this with my AV setting active. For my level 50 Bots/Traps MM, I normally run +1/+8 with really no problems. It can get hairy though if more groups are aggroed by one of my bots running off and starting trouble..heh...heh.
  8. That's great. Tentacles in Praetoria. I'm happy for all you believers out there. Well my friends, you want to see something earth-shattering and really scary? Take a good look at what we saw in Dark Astoria.

  9. I was not sure what to call this and "hover" seemed like an appropriate word to use for it. Anyways, I recall back long ago you used to be able to "hover" your mouse arrow over enhancements and see what they were "before" having to right click and pull up the info on them. I think this also held true for salvage items and such? Not sure if this is a setting in my options that I may have disabled but I don't think so. With that being said, I cannot think of a good reason for not having this function available, anyone agree? And if this "is" something in my options menu let me give a Homer Simpson "Doh" ahead of time because I've been playing it that way for over 2 years...lol.
  10. Based on what others have said, it seems that you may be able to resize it but it will always default back to the "overlapping" spam button as seen in my picture. If I have to resize it, I really don't have a problem with that being that I don't normally transfer enhancements to other toons unless they are in Praetora and unable to get level 25 SO's. This "overlapping" doesn't seem to be an issue with the influence transfers being the graphic is smaller and thus nice and easy to click on.

The other issue I had with the enhancement claim button was you had to click it several times before you could claim that enhancement from the email. This is not the case with influence transfers where you just click once and get your influence. For some reason, when there is and object (enhancements not sure about salvage items), you have to click on it a few times before you can claim it. That might be an issue for Technical Issues and Bugs section?

  11. I don't normally use this feature when transferring items such as enhancements to another one of my toons. I mostly use the transfer feature for moving influence to other toons starting out at lower levels. With that being said, it has occurred to me that when moving enhancements, the "Claim" button has to be clicked a few times for you to claim your enhancement. Also, if you noticed the image below, the Claim button is bungled under the Spam Button. Your enhancement view is clouded by the Spam button. I would think that eventually someone in development would figure this out and maybe find a better way to either reposition this button and figure out why you have to click it several times before you can claim your enhancement as it doesn't respond right away with the first click. Now normally, I wouldn't move enhancements and only do influence transfers but being that Praetora doesn't sell level 25 SO's and I had a few more mish'es to complete, I was forced to do so.

This could probably also fall under Technical Issues & Bugs but being that it appears that the display of where this button ends up bungled with the Spam button and the enhancement, I would think it would be more of a design issue on where this button was placed thus having someone revisit this and maybe think about a reposition of this button. And while we are on the subject of enhancement transfers, when moving enhancements it appears you can only do one enhancement per email. When moving multiple enhances or salvage for that matter, why not implement some kind of "bulk" transfer to move more over within that one email? Just a suggestion.

  12. Out of my 14 toons, my level 33 Demon/Trick Arrow MM is one that I am trying motivate myself into getting in the action more. For some reason, I have lost a thrill in playing this particular Alt. I have a level 50 Bots/Traps that I love but for some reason (and I am not sure what it might be) I cannot motivate myself to play her. I know one reason may be the constant yelling and growling of my demon pets. It can get annoying at times. Maybe it is my secondary set of trick arrows, not sure?

I have a nice bio with this toon and I am really seriously thinking of redoing her over again with a different secondary other than Trick Arrows. It seems that I can never really do enough damage (not counting pet damage) with what I have as an arsenal. Does anyone else out there have this issue with this build? Maybe I just picked the wrong secondary, heck, maybe I should go away from demons altogether and try another MM set? Any thoughts out there would be welcome.
  13. So I guess the most efficient way to get Shard drops would be to do TF's not necessarily the Apex or Tin Mage TF's because as you know by my posts above, I was gimped by not being slotted with a boost on those specific TF's. I will eventually figure this one out and get it right.

To me I read the post as trying to help get a common boost ASAP with the person having 7 shards at the moment.
You're all right. What I was really trying to find was the minimum number of Shards to make my first boost which I guess has to be Common before you can make the Uncommon? Last night I ran another TF with my fire/fire Scrapper and was told that I would need 12 Shards in order to build my first Common Boost, 4 for each segment, 3 segments total. I got 8 last night when we ran the Apex TF. Let me tell you guys it was brutal "without" not having any boost slotted in my Alpha Slot. I died a lot but just wanted to run it to get the shard drops. At level 50, not too concerned about accruing any debt.
  15. In the past two years playing this game, I don't think I've every had a NPC Pet or NCP Cohort stop and start fighting an inanimate object. I took this snap shot of such the case in the Calvin Scott Story Arc of my NPC Cohorts stopping and fighting (punching at) the fire...heh...heh. As I moved on, they proceeded to punch, shoot and kick at the fire trying to kill it. I eventually had to ignore them as they would not follow me anymore. Eventually, one of them broke free of the fires grasp and met up with me at the mish'es end.

I put this one in the Technical Issues & Bugs as I know this is not the norm for NPC Cohorts or at least I found it unusual to see. I know that even tough the fire is an inanimate object, it does do damage if you walk through it which might make it seem as if it where an animate object thus the NCP Cohorts don't know the difference between the two based on how the fire is coded within the game, not sure? I just thought this was funny to see and didn't know if anyone else has run into this before?

  16. Last night, I got a tell asking if i was Alpha Slotted. I replied "yes" with my level 50 KM/SD Scrapper. I then got an invite for the Tin Mage Mark II TF which I never ran before. It was a pretty fun TF but I did end up getting killed a couple of times while most everyone else stayed alive. Then today, I just happened to read more on the Incarnate System and Alpha Slotting. Based on what paragonwiki states: "The Alpha Slot gives characters who unlock it an additional enhancement to all their powers. It also allows characters to participate in the Apex Task Force and the Tin Mage Mark II Task Force. Characters participating in these task forces without a boost slotted in their Alpha Slot have a four-level "debuff" applied that greatly diminishes their power."

Now here's the kicker. When I got that tell saying if I was Alpha Slotted, I said yes because I thought the sender meant I could get Shards if one is Alpha Slotted. I did run a TF on a toon last week and they were not Alpha Slotted so thus, no wonderful Shard drops came my way. Now back to my KM/SD Scrapper toon, I had my toon with an available Alpha Slot but not actually slotted with a boost so thus, it appears I was gimped on that Tin Mage TF based on what it says in diminishing one's power if they are not slotted. Needless to say, I did get some Shard drops on that TF which brought my total Shard count to 7. After the TF I immediately combined my Shards to give me,....well nothing yet since I only had 7 total Shards to work with. So now, I have to wonder how hard it actually might be to get enough Shards to craft something for your Alpha Slot? I pulled this info on Shards and drop rates from paragonwiki. I guess now, I really have an excuse to start playing some more of my level 50's and get the cob webs off them...heh..heh.

True. Tonight I was perusing through my toons at the market and ended up buying a Aegis Psionic/Status Resistance Enhancement that was Unique (1 per toon) and since I already had it slotted in another powerset, I had to "resell" it at the market. So, not being able to know what that exact IO is something I haven't figured into the iPhone dealio yet. Maybe if I clicked on each IO and got the pop-up box that would tell me what the exact origin is for the power, then I would take a iPhone snap shot of it...heh...heh.
  20. I brought this Suggestion and Idea up awhile ago and only got one /signed response. During this season of respecmania, I would have thought that more and more people would have wanted something that would take a "before" snapshot of their screen so they would know what thay had prior to doing a respec. In the past, I would normally take 3 or 4 shots of my powersets. The first one being the power trays telling me how I had my powers positioned. The others would be all my powersets and how they were slotted. I would then open up photoshop, crop them and them save as them a .JPG file and then open them up in preview mode. The reason as it seems that your normal "print screen" function on a PC doesn't like to take images and save those to the screenshot folder for CoH for the powerset screen. If there was a way, I haven't figured it out.

Anyways, after about my 10th respec doing this the past couple of weeks after i19, I thought to myself, there has got to be an easier way to do this. Well, I neglected to realize that I had a very powerful piece of equipment in my pocket called an iPhone that could take pictures. So, I said, why don't I just take a snapshot of my screen with my iPhone? Well my friends, it worked better and much much quicker than I thought. I could easily scroll through my pics and see what powers I had, and then delete the pics once I was done. I can't believe I didn't think of that before I went through the whole Photoshop ordeal.

This comes back to my original suggestion, why don't we have something in game that will display what our previous powersets where while we are doing a respec? I mean I really don't have an issue taking pictures now with my iPhone to see what I had but an in game feature that could do this would be awesome, don't you guys think? Now, if I only get one response like I did to my last post on this subject, I guess this is probably really not that of an important issue to some people. Maybe some people like to "guess" what they had before they respec again...heh,..heh.,, who knows?

  21. Quick question as I am needing some clarification on this. I am trying to determine the maximum number of transaction slots you can get from a Wentworths? I ask as I always thought that the max # was either 16, 18 or 20? I just got one of my level 50 toons 18 slots which I thought was great being she was using the market like a drunken sailor during the respec bonanza after i19 went live. I pulled this chart from paragonwiki and for some reason it says 16 slots maxed which cannot be right being that I just got 18 slots and unless this chart has not been updated? Also, should I desire to obtain the max # of market transaction slots, what is the best way to go about this, buying and selling like crazy? I know there are some Wentworth Badges you can get such as the Power Seller Badge for selling 7000 items and other badges that will give you extra slots. I am thinking that 20 slots are the max but I am not 100% sure?

Make sure you write in a clear, factual manner; ranty-sounding bug reports or PMs are far less likely to draw positive attention than a concise problem report with detailed duplication steps.
Yup, I already filed the necessary bug report with the GM and they forwarded it on for more bug testing. They said they were going to try and duplicate the problem and also said some issues are given different priorities based on urgency of the issue at hand. The thing the got me all twisted up was I initially took a snap shot of my screen "before" I recspec'ed which is what I normally do so I know where everything was or is going to go.

When I tried to place my Aegis back into the Temp Invul slot, it wouldn't take and that's when I filed a bug report. The other night I tried to slot a "Defensive Set" now that the set category changed and nothing would take. So now, I have a level 50 MM Bots/Traps with Temp Invul, gimped with lower end enhancements because I cannot replace them. If this was you, would you sign back in with the toon in question and re-submit another bug report? And like you said give much more detailed (which is what I tought I did) in your reply?
I would also like to know if there is anyone else out there in CoH land that this has happened to so I will know I am not going crazy.
  23. Follow-up to my last post. As of this morning, I tried to buy another Defensive Set IO, Red Fortune. This also would not take in my Temp Invul slots. I have no other power sets that have Red Fortune so I know having more than one like my Luck of the Gambler IO is not the case as Temp Invul is not taking any IO's at all. This is a bug and needs to be fixed ASAP on the next patch. The dev's prioritize bugs (which ones will get fixed sooner than later) based on need and priority within the game. Well, I think not being able to slot one's Temp Invul with ANY IO's is a big bug and needs priority fixing.
  24. About a week ago, I sent a petition in saying that when I respec'ed my Temp Invul would not reslot my Aegis that I had slotted before. The reason, the set category for Temp Invul changed from Resist Damage to Defensive Sets. Thus, I sent a petition and the reply was it was probably some kind of bug. Okay, that's all well and good so now I was sitting with 6 Aegis that I had to dump because now Temp Invul will only take Defensive Sets. Tonight, I bought one Luck of the Gambler a Defensive Set and what happens? It will not go into my Temp Invul Slot. Now I do have two other powers that I have slotted with Luck of the Gambler. Am I only allowed to have two power sets with any same IO enhancement and thus it won't work on three power sets? Not sure if this is a bug so if anyone else knows the answer please inform. Thanks.

Agreed. As long as I have been playing, and I am usually on a lot, I have got 4 respec's as of Jan. 09. To have two drop so close within a half hour of each other I can image is very very rare. As I mentioned in my post, I had to double check my eyes to make sure I was not seeing double. I know, I know there are those who say its all random and the Sun and the Moon need to be aligned with Mars. And for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? Well, that's all nice and good but I think that respec recipe drops are far far fewer than purple drops. Heck, maybe I should play the lottery? What's the Powerball up to?...heh...heh.
