  1. Just signed on went to Wentworth's and it appears to be down. Okay help me understand, the other day we had a 12 hour shut down which is not the norm. What in Gods green earth could cause the Market to not be functional? Dev's get back from TGI Friday's, put your beer and fries down and head back to the store and fix this mess. Thanks!
  2. You would think after almost two years of playing CoX I would have started up a Scrapper. I think the bias came from starting out with my Blasters with their awesome ranged attacks. I also tried my hand at building a Tank only to get very frustrated and delete them after about 15 to 20 levels. So, thinking a Scrapper was like a Tank, I kept away from that build.

So, after careful thinking and suggestions from these forums, I built a Fiery Melee/Fiery Aura Scrapper. Got her up to level 12. I think the only real way one can learn from these builds is to do one of their own and see how it comes out. Everyone, it seemed had their own favorite builds. I think what I am seeing is how a Scrapper has the feeling of being more offensive minded with quick and deadly kills. Similar to some of the fun I had with my Blasters.

The thing I need to clarify is the difference between a "Critical Strike" and a "Critical Hit". For my level 50 Stalker, if in hidden mode and you land an Assassin's Strike, you can usually land a Critical Hit. So, for Scrappers, the exact definition according to paragonwiki says: "Scrappers possess Critical Strike capability. Their melee attacks have a chance to sometimes do double damage." So, what it is telling me when it says "double the damage?" How do I know when or how to do this "double damage?" Is it based on what type of melee my Scrapper does or is it based on the type of power used?
  3. I remember doing this respec back when I was in college 2004-2005. It was hard then. Since I rejoined CoX in Jan.09, I must have ran that trial about 12 - 15 times. I would have to agree that the lag time between spawns is very strange. I say "very" because it seems in the early stages of this trial while trying to protect the reactor, more spawns occur. Then, later in the trail, the gaps of lag time become wider. In fact, some of the lag time between spawns is so ridiculous, one would almost think it was a glitch of some kind.

Then you get teammates who haven't done this respec before asking how many more spawns left. You randomly throw out an arbitrary number hoping they won't get too bored and stay awake. In the meantime, you're running to charge your red bubble patiently waiting for the next spawn to occur.

I do remember failing this trial a couple of times. That, if you can believe it, was kind of fun. Seeing the screen go pitch white like a nuclear bomb just went off. Then you're standing outside with the words "Mission Failed". Hehee.

So, in a nutshell, I would have to say that I really don't have much issues with this Trail but I do have to agree that those "weird" lags in the later stages of this trial should be tightened up a bit. They need to maybe make it much more random. Heck, maybe for giggles, have two spawns come in at the same time to keep you and your teammates on your toes. The big bugaboo with this game is a lot of missions and trials have the same predictable patterns . Once you figure out those patterns then I think the "boring" factor starts to creep in.
  4. Working on my first Scrapper a level 12 fire/fire and needed to know if Confront is similar to Taunt? Does it offer the same effectiveness as Taunt or is it not as effective since Scrappers are not built with stronger defenses such as Tankers or Brutes?

With that being said, is this a practical power to have? I'm thinking if I am on a team without a Tanker then I might be put in to draw aggro. Thanks.
  5. Over the past 1 1/2 years, I tried my hand at trying to build the best soloing Tank only to lose patients and delete them after 20 plus levels. The thing that I missed was what my Blasters would give me with their awesome damage and AoE powers that could take out large mobs. I have written a few post on the Tanker forums regarding this and after reading what everyone else suggested, they said I might be happier building a Blapper which I guess is a combo Scrapper/Blaster right?

So, with that being said, I do a lot of soloing and maybe that's why I am so fond of my Blasters with all their AoE powers and sheer damage potential. What I am lacking of course is the defense that either a Tank or Scrapper might provide. I know that I can't get the full benefits of massive damage AoE powers like a Blaster but I want to build a Scrapper that can come as close to a Blaster as I can and enjoy those wonderful AoE attacks with a bonus to defense. Any suggestions you guys can give me would be welcome.
  6. I got to thinking about this one for awhile now for my level 48 Ice/Ice Blaster. As you guys know, Blasters are very squishy and the majority of their powers are ranged attacks for obvious reasons being any close melee would almost guarantee a certain quick death and a trip to your friendly neighborhood Hospital. While in team play, I find myself having to run right up to the action and drop a Ice Patch down next to the Tank. In doing so, I risk life and limb especially when we are up against an AV.

I know that the main effects and purpose for this power is to avoid getting clobbered by a close ranged melee attack below your feet, but what about during team play when you need to keep your Blasters space from the heated action with the Tank or Scrapper slugging it out and want to drop some Ice Patches near them and the battle?

So, why not make this a Ranged Location AoE power? Think about it, you can point and click to where you want the ice patch to go and keep your Blaster alive in the meantime. I know there are those of you who would say it is all in the technique when doing this. Believe me, I have developed a good technique by jumping back and out of the way when I lay down my Ice Patch. The bugaboo is in the special effects being that they take way too long to animate and during that brief time, you are completely vulnerable to attacks. What do you guys think, do you agree this should be a Ranged Location AoE power?
  7. I got to thinking about this while being on this morning with my level 48 Ice/Ice Blaster with Cold Mastery for her Ancillary Powerset. I picked up Snow Storm as one toggle power that I thought would be helpful in slowing down the enemies. So far it has worked like it should but while in team play, I have gotten a few "I can't see anything because the snow storm is so blinding white" replies. This has happened a few times so far while in team play. Though, no one has told me to turn it off, I almost feel somewhat guilty every time I would use it in team play. I say team play because when I do use it solo, I really have no issues with it other than it is blinding white and does somewhat hinder your vision a bit.

My thinking would be why have a power that would "hinder" your teammates visibility even though it is meant to slow down your foes attack and movement speeds? It would almost make someone not want to use it in team play. Maybe make it so it still does what it is intended to do by slowing down your enemies attack and movement speeds but make it less "white blinding" and maybe more transparent so and to not hinder your teammates being able to see the action and what's coming at them?

Maybe I need to drop this one in Suggestions and Ideas for the dev's to look at and maybe revamp the special effects of this power so it isn't so visually impairing? I know I can always respec out of this power and pick something else. Has anyone else encountered this with the power?
  9. The other night I was working my Ice/Ice Blaster with the Cold Mastery set. In that set I have Frozen Armor. Now as a Blaster, I know there are certain powers that you can continue to use even after you get frozen, stunned or immobilized. This, from what I gathered, is unique to a Blaster and no other Archetype has this ability.

Since my Frozen Armor is a toggle power, I will always leave it on while in battle along with my Combat Jumping. I noticed that when I got stunned, it appeared that my Frozen Armor turned off and when my stun wore off, my Frozen Armor turned on automatically again. Now, either I was imagining this or this is a toggle power that will reactivate after stuns wear off which I thought was cool.

There is another power, Chilling Embrace, that I unrespeced out of since every time I would have it active and got stunned, frozen or immobilized, it would shut off and not come back on. I would have to remember to reactivate this power again which can be a pain if you are in the heat of battle. This was also a problem with my Dual/Elect Blaster with her Lightning Field. Every time you got whacked around and stunned, it would deactivate. So, I removed it for that very reason being that it was a pain to remember to turn it back on again. I know we are given one "auto" activation which I use for my Hasten when it recharges back up, even though Hasten is a non-toggle power.

So, with that being said, why is it not practical to have certain toggle powers reactivate, like Frozen Armor, after the stun wears off? If that power is intended to be on all the time while in battle or in missions and is inherent for that particular archetype, then why should you be forced to remember to turn it back on again? My suggestion would be to have it reactivate once the stun, freeze or immobilize wears off then when the mission is over, you can manually turn it off until you need it again. What do you guys think?
  10. Awhile ago, I posted in this section a piece called "I'm a Gazelle, not a Gorilla". In that piece, I mentioned my frustration with trying to "key mash" my way out of battles in the early stages as a tank. When I say early I mean between levels 1-20. I have never ventured past 20 yet with a tank which I tried two so far then deleted them and I know that should I had the patients to stay, I might

Having played a Blaster, Controller, Corruptor, Mastermind, Peacebringer, Stalker Warshade and Arachnos Widow, I would say the closest I've ever came to a tank and "enjoyed" it was with my Warshade Rino (or lobster as some like to call it). The biggest thing I loved was the defensive you get as a tank. It would seem though that for AoE powers, a lot of tanks are lacking this going more for "close-up" melee attacks. Thus, making soloing more time consuming and having the ability to "kill" large mobs takes time and punishment.

In my piece "I'm a Gazelle, not a Gorilla", I read all the comments and some suggestions on what might work better for me. Everyone seemed to have their favorites and I started to get confused on what might work best. So, what I will do to make it easier for you tank gurus out there, is to break is down in a simple format.

    1. For soloing purposes what build or builds would allow for the best AoE powers to do "more" damage to groups of foes versus "key mashing" on one foe at a time?

    2. Based on my prior toons, my Blaster which i love because of the damage she does and being my first and my favorite toon, what tank build/builds will allow for the most damage and when I say damage, I mean knock-out lights out "no wakie" "no stunnie" of foes damage? This might be a signature power that is pretty must the best in tank land as a Nova would be for a Blaster.

    3. Speed. When I think of tanks, I think of a tree stump just standing there taking the heat for the team. When solo, then the tree stump gets pummeled to death being they are not doing enough damage or not enough AoE powers to take more foes out. Granted, tanks are designed to be the anchors in "team" missions and to draw aggro away from the squishies, but when soloing, then this is where I am having issues. So, maybe having more speed to react better in situations that may require a quick exit?

In a nutshell, I am looking for:
    Speed
    More AoE Powers
Tank build that has the best knock-out power, be it AoE or Melee (Signature Power like Nova to Blasters)
More defense but will sacrifice defense for more AoE damages

Do you guys think I would be better off trying to build a Scrapper instead to make it a Blapper (a mix of Blaster and Scrapper) being that I love my Blasters AoE damage effects but don't want some of those qualities while looking for a toon that gives more defense? I know that Scrappers and not as "thick skinned" as tanks but do offer more defense than your typical squishie Blaster. Any thoughts on this subject would be much appreciated.
  11. Hmmmm, I just read that link you had. If this is true then it is a long time coming. That was the biggest bugaboo for markets Red (Villain Side). As a Hero, I could probably fetch a cool 3 mill influence for Hami Goo versus trying to get that same price Villain side. I have been playing the markets consistently over the past 1 1/2 years now. I can tell you that there is a big difference in what prices things are being sold at and everyone knows it.

I've always felt that this discrepancy between the two markets, took away from the ebb and flow of how the markets should really work. So, I am "clap" "clap" "clapping" in advance of this and hope all goes well in this transition between markets once GR goes live.
  12. I did the Eden Trial the last night. While venturing through those enormous caves with the huge pits, I had this thought on why we don't have those types of environments in our regular mish'es? They only way you can enjoy that large cave is through that Trial and not solo.

My suggestion would be maybe have a couple of mish'es that incorporate some TF's or Trial environments that are not normally used in regular game play. One reason is the stagnation of our regular missions, getting the same environments over and over again. Having the ability to use some of the other environments from TF's or Trails I think would be cool. Think about it, you might have a mission that takes you down the sewer hole like in the abandon sewer mission against Hydra. The only difference would be different foes and different objectives. What do you guys think?
  13. I ended up signing in with another Toon and sending a bug report. In my message I said that I kept getting that "Your toon is currently logging out" every time I would try and sign back in with just that one toon. I ended up getting an email from support saying they put my toon in a "safe" place whatever that means? They also said that if that didn't work I would need to wait for the next maintenance schedule to have my server reset.

Well, I was finally able to sign back in with my toon after about an hour or being off line. Needless to say, I was the only one left on my Eden Trial TF...lol. So, I decided to take another tour of the giant underground caves which I thought were cool.

  15. I had a major crash while doing the Eden Trail mish. When I went to the Hospital I had a crash and then rebooted my computer. Since then, I have not been able to log back in with my toon. I can log in with my other toons but not the one that I had the crash with I keep getting this message, "Character Strixie is still logging out. Please wait a second, then try again". I log out completely and then sign back in and still get this messages. Can anyone give me more suggestions on this? I originally had a message that said Lost connection to DBserver. Not sure what to do? Thanks.
  16. Was on the Eden trail and ended up dying and selected Hospital,..got the biggest crashola that I have ever experienced with this game so far. I could not log back in and kept getting this message that said Lost Connect to DBserver when I tried to log back in? What is this telling me? Thanks.

    3. Change the slider at the top of the first page of Options. Slide them all the way to the right to auto accept all level changes.
So you're saying for question #2 about not wanting to keep getting that "will you accept this" prompt when someone sends you a fortune is always on? Hmmm so did they change that for i17 because on my other toons I could swear that I still get that prompt that asks me if I want to accept a fortune when someone "heaves" one on me. I am thinking I turned something off to get this prompt not to show up for one of my toons?
  18. First question: Since i17 I have been getting this [AUTO-REPLY-Chat Hidden] prompt every time someone sends me a tell. This prompt always follows their original tell message and I am not sure how to turn it off or on so this doesn't keep popping up? I went to the Options Menu under the Chat section but couldn't find anything that relates to this.

Second question: Where do you go to enable the receive item such as when someone sends you a "fortune" and you don't want to have to get that annoying prompt that says "so and so has sent you fortune will you accept?" For one of my toons, I turned something on or off to allow them to send me fortunes and have me accepting this automatically, which I liked and thus want to incorporate this over to my other toons.

Third question: When joining a new team, you always get that prompt that says "The level of the team has changed from -- and you will fight at level -- If you do not want to accept this change to your level, then you must quit the team.

You are currently auto accepting team level changes 0 levels above your current level and 0 levels below your current level. You can change your auto-acceptance settings in the options window". Then you get those buttons for "Quit Team" or "Accept Now" with that timer on the bottom of this prompt. How can I turn this prompt off as I really don't care what level my team is when I get an invite? Do I need to change my levels for auto acceptance so I don't keep getting this prompt?

    Thanks!

  20. I am sure this thread has been added to the Technical Issues & Bugs section. If it hasn't then by golly I'll post it now.

It seems that when you TP to Ouroboros, the existing TP there is invisible and cannot be seen. Though it does sometimes appear but is in a "flickering" type mode to where it will blink like a light bulb getting ready to go out. Now you can still click on it to use it but it was not like this before i17 to where it was "always" on.

To be honest, I almost wasn't going to post this here since it was such a minor issue. But, since it was my lunchtime at work, I figured I had nothing better to do so,..hehe. .
  21. Ahem,...as I write this post, my toon is buried up to her knees in the ground at the Cimerora Crystal. Based on the last patch notes, they said this was fixed. Well, guys it's not. So this post is to let you know "The Glitch is Back".

Someone told me to post this thread here on the the Training Room Test Server as the Dev's might get around to viewing these.

If you read my post, I mentioned that only my MM with Demon Summoning seems to be boggy or slow while in mish'es (only in mish'es). Outside of mish'es all seems to be normal. This seemed much more prominent once my Demon Prince was established. I was advised to set-up a test server account and transfer my MM over to work out the bugs. My thoughts are that the Demons have more Special Effects than your normal type of pets and may be much more demanding on certain computers or graphic cards that can't handle these type of graphics, but and I say "but" this seems very unusual and unlikely because all my other toons, including my other MM with Bots/Traps, all seem to function very smooth with my current graphic settings.

I've never done this test server thing but if this will help the dev's look into this further then maybe I will do so.
  23. So when i17 went live, I was having zero issues with the graphics. In fact, I was able to crank up most of these as seen below without any type of lagging, freezing or jittery frame rates. Now here comes the perplexing issue. The past few days when playing my level 27 MM with Demon/Trck Arrows, being that I had all my pets active, my Prince, Demons and Demonlings, I was running mish'es at +1/+2, it appears that I am getting some major freezing and lagging while in mish'es. This only happens in mish'es. I thought that this cannot be right. So this morning, I dropped my MM down to +1/+1. This helped a bit but still a little bit of minor freezing and lagging.

Now I know what you're probably thinking. You probably think "well I got a slow operating system and thus cannot handle the Ultra Mode Graphics". This is what I'm currently running:

Gateway Computer, approx 5 years old, Model GX7018E.
    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 630 w/Hyper-Threading Technology
    Chipset: Intel 915G
Memory: I upgraded to 3GB of RAM as I am running Windows XP and the max is 3GB of RAM for this.
Video Graphics: Upgraded to Nvida GeForce 9600GT 512MB OC Graphics Card
Hard Drive: 250 GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA hard drive

Soooo, with that being said, I started to experiment and see if all my other toons were suddenly effected. I say suddenly because this was never an issue before when i17 uploaded. I decided to test out my other MM a level 50 Bots/Traps. I already had her set at +1/+8 yes, you read that right +8. I went to battle this morning and had no problems what-so-ever. No lagging, no freezing, no jittery frame rates. Smooth as silk! I immediately logged into my other MM with Demon Summoning, and that freezing and lagging as I mentioned earlier was more apparent. I tested all my other toons and had no lagging issues, freezing or jittery frames rates while in mish'es or while flying around in different zones.

I thought that by playing with my Ultra Mode graphics all turned down to their minimum levels might help, it really didn't much. I have not turned it off completely though I may have to unless I can figure it out. I would really hate to not play my MM with Demon Summoning less just because I am having extending graphics issues all of a sudden. Again, this was not an issue until I got my last pet and not sure if there is something here "special effects" wise that is causing this? Below I took a snap shot of what I am currently set at on my graphics. Me thinks "A", this might be an issue when all MM Demon Pets are active, or "B" my graphics card just can't handle it when all my pets are active in mish'es being that maybe these guys produce more bells and whistles on the special effects side unlike the other MM sets. I hope it isn't "B" but should I need to turn off my Ultra Mode while playing just this "one" toon, then I might have to. Has anyone else had this issue with their MM's with Demon Summoning?
