Quote:Keeper of Swords is available as well as Keeper of Daggers. Just checked. Not my favorite thing to do, but it is better than changing what I am going for completely. Also Keeper was my main for years, he was moved so he would not get ignored on the server I rarely use. Part of my fun came from the character's name, if I can keep that by framing the name, I will.
My first alternate choice for your name wasn't: Blade Keeper
My second alternate choice was also taken: Sergeant at Arms, but both legitimate and alternate spellings (Serjeant-at-Arms (with the hyphens) and Serjeant at Arms (without hyphens) are both available. In some settings, the hyphenated spelling is preferred. I assume Sergeant-at-Arms would be acceptable as well. -

Quote:It's not based on hearsay. I've seen the behavior in question. Mobs do run away. It could be a build issue or maybe you have a lot better tolerance for scatter.I have a spines/elec that I use to farm, and I find that it works well.
The point about lightning field is greatly overstated. Here is a thread in which I debate the alleged problem with another poster whose arguments were based on hearsay. I discuss an experiment in which I ran the scrapper on the Battle Maiden farm without lightning field, and found that it really doesn't cause much scatter beyond what you see running just Quills.
Bottom line: spines/elec is comparable to spines/fire or spines/dark in effectiveness, but the bad press on it never goes away. -
Quote:Pretty much agree with the above. Fire/Kins and SS/WP can farm with just SOs. +1/x8/no bosses is easily within the capabilities of either of those builds.I would say in terms of best performance for the least money (SOs/frankenslotting) the best farmers are fire/kin trollers heroside and ss/wp brutes villainside.
For making influence, Fulmens is right on the money (har).
Farming IMO is not that efficient in gaining influence. Barring purple drops, the best farming builds top out in the neighborhood of 35-40M/hour in terms of influence kills, and that's assuming you are going full bore at it without stopping. Or...you can craft a few IOs and make that offline as you sleep or while you actually play the game.
I both farm and play the market but in terms of making influence marketing is far more efficient, and doesn't require any farming capable character. -
The build isn't terrible but unfortunately your friend isn't an expert at builds either. There are wasted slots all over the place and the build really skimps on some key powers: aim and build up. Personally I'd also take energy bolt, but that's me.
Here's your build, optimized for ranged defense and with much better slotting. You honestly can go for more ranged defense but it will cost you a lot of recharge and other things. Right now the build has 32%, which is very noticeable. 1 small purple will virtually soft cap you. I also threw in a karma -kb IO into your build since your friend forgot to give you any knockback protection.
One other thing. Don't check your build's stats in RV. Stats for builds are different for PvP than they are for PvE. And I didn't build this for PvP, but PvE. If you're going to take a build like this for PvP, you want boost range in your build and you'll want different travel powers. In fact there's a lot of things you'd do differently in the build, but if you want to build for that, let someone else help you. I don't do PvP in this game anymore.

Quote:It's workable but not optimal. Biggest problem is that lightning field causes mobs to run away which hurts electric armor as a farming build. So I've been looking around at a couple of post, and for the most part people generally agree that Spines/Fire and Electric/SD dominate when it comes to AOE and farming....but i was wondering if you guys would consider Electric Armor a decent secondary for AOE farming. Thanks.
I've seen one player run a spines/electric and he ended up deleting it. -
I've had a ranged spines/regen for quite some time now: energy torrent, throw spines, LBE, and impale. Occasionally I'll move her in for a ripper. It's a fun build and the concept I used to build her was a "spines blaster".
There are more optimal spines/regen builds for sure. Builds that take advantage of quills and melee defense for example. However, I haven't had the heart to respec into those or start a second build. As she is now, she's wonderful as a teaming scrapper and I've never failed a TF with her. She solos pretty decently as well, though if I had to compare her with my fire/shield it's no contest. -
Quote:I would never resort to this. It looks terrible IMO. You're probably not as picky as I am but periods or hyphens after or before the name (hyphens between the name is okay in some situations); framing stuff with x; using spaces in names (e.g., K E E P E R O F B L A D E S); or using ones instead of Ls are just things I wouldn't do.I think there is a guide somewhere on the boards explaining naming techniques. I do things like frame in "x" or add a dash. So I ended up with x Keeper of Blades x after moving one of my toons to Virtue. I tend to get the name I want in one way or another.
Note that I use a naming convention that handicaps me even further in that most of my character names have to have two Fs in it. I've still never had much difficulty in getting names on Virtue and lately Freedom. -

Quote:Hasten. Brings up shield charge, soul drain and your heavy hitters back up faster. Dead enemies = haha, what DDR? And if you're really concerned about DDR, slot Membranes into Active Defense and/or grab Grant Cover. On an unrelated note,
Question for folks: I've managed to use some MidFu to come up with a build using no purples that nets me over 270% Regen, gives me over 1800 HP, 30% resist to sm/lthl and ~14% to most other types, and is right at the softcap for positional def (ok, ok I'm only at 42+ on AOE). My question is - I've got one power pick to shoe horn in and I can either take Hasten for the Recharge goodness (I'm at 45 % without it) or I can take OwtS for the DDR. Your thougths scrappers? Thanks in advance.
-Forge- -
I'm not on Justice (well except for 1 character), but I run the ITF fairly frequently on Virtue. I run with a group that can consistently get sub 30 minute times and are often in the sub 25 minute mark.
Line ups for these are all pretty similar, but honestly depend a lot more on player skill, knowledge of the maps and experience on running that TF. Some of the folks I run with have run the TF hundreds (thousands?) of times and so it becomes more of a mechanical exercise rather than any real challenge.
But the sure fire way of doing it is:
3 strong scrappers/brutes (scrappers/brutes capable of tanking if necessary and able to solo many of the spawns, e.g., IO'ed shield scrappers work great for this)
1 kin
1 debuffer or 1 support character
1-3 of anything else
Much of that line up is also pretty flexible. Some tanks can sub in for one of the scrapper/brute spots. Corruptors, defenders and controllers can take any of the kinetic, debuff, support spots.
Really, it gets down to people who know what they're doing rather than specific AT power sets combinations, though I think having good melees and a kin is the easiest way to do it. -
Quote:I've been mostly just doing Spy Hunt Ouro mission once a day and calling it good because I've been so busy with other stuff. 4 and I attempted to duo a Cap SF, but didn't have enough DPS to be Bat'Zul in the final mission between my Bots/Dark MM and his stalker.TRTerror, Fury: I'm thinking it's time for me to go redside a while. Are you forming Strike Forces? Doing Ouros? What?
If I'm on, I'm open to just anything. Villain SFs are also pretty short for the most part. Renault can go pretty fast. Don't know if we have a mission computer to run Silver Mantis. -
Heh, I recognize most of those players. That LGTF was pretty heavy with shield scrappers...ADvokate on Vilify, Tark on Incomprehensible and RK on GB. I assume the whole TF was an endless series of shield charges.
-
I can cap influence (2B) in about 6 days. I've done it 8 times, so I have a pretty good feel about how long it can take me. What limits me from going faster is just having enough play time to do it.
I don't have a figure per week, because I farm/market as the need arises and not constantly. -
SS/WP brute. Powerful with just SOs, strong all the way from level 1 to 50.

Quote:I actually think this hurts your case more than it helps it. Many of the things you mention are already in the current PvP implementation. Some of your other suggestions take away things from the current implentation while adding almost nothing. I'm not sure how taking away options makes things better.Let me preface the serious part of this post by saying that I DON'T PvP. So I am coming at this issue from about as fresh a perspective as you can get. I have no real bones to gnaw on since I haven't been to the butcher's shop yet. This post is NOT a "What's wrong with PvP" post. It is a "What it would take to get me to PvP" post.
I don't think it's bad that you'd like to see improvements in PvP, but I think if you aren't knowledgeable about the current implementation, it's hard to make meaningful suggestions that actually improves the current situation. -
Modified your build to show you what it would look like with fighting pool.
Stats for this build:
196% (3.27/s) recovery (.93 end/s consumption)
409% regen
52.5% global recharge
31.3% smash/lethal resists
Your old build:
192% (3.2/s) recovery (.90 end/s consumption)
393% regen
52.5% global recharge
11.3% smash/lethal resists
Sorry, I still think that the flexibility of fighting outweighs the benefits gained by leadership. The only appreciable difference is that tactics would provide +perception and a constant tohit; however, fighting would allow you greater flexibility in the build to do more things.

Not trying to nitpick but that depends entirely on how you're slotted. If you already have a bunch of IOs in a power and the level 25 gets you over the ED cap, then keep it there. If you have a power 2 slotted with 25s and want to get more enhancement value out of it, sure.
-
Quote:This is incorrect. IOs are better than even con SOs at level 30 (34.8% enhancement value), and only slightly worse at level 25 (32% enhancement value). See: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Inventio...cement_ScalingGenerally, generic IOs aren't considered useful until levle 35, when they break even with SOs.
Honestly the difference in enhancement value between a level 25 generic IO and a SO is so miniscule that it's rarely even worth it swap the IO out. Also, the 25 is good for the life of the character; the SO will degrade and eventually become useless (unless you're level 47+ and slotting 50s).
Set IOs are, as you mentioned, quite a bit better. There was a study done (that is now lost) which pretty much shows that the difference between a level 27 multi-aspect set IO and a level 50 version of the same IO were pretty marginal in their enhancement effectiveness, if you account for the ED cap. -
Quote:Pretty much. A backhanded apology. When your apology reads as "I'm sorry you got pissed off" rather than "I'm sorry I pissed you off", it tends to ruin the point of apologizing.
I couldn't care less who you are either in RL or in game. I've never teamed with you or met you in game, so my only impression of you is the stuff you post. And in those posts you come across as a complete *sshat. Attention seeking, trollish, with little regard to other people's perspective and at times racist.
I also take extreme exception to how you tell people to "chill out" or relax and call people oversensitive. When you're part of the majority culture it's very easy to get away with insensitive comments and blame people's negative reaction to them as political correctness and over sensitivity.
I have friends of mine who were stationed for their tour of duty in Korea. Koreans can be a famously generous and kind people but they can be as racist as anybody else. After the umpteenth Yankee joke at their expense, one of my friends took exception to it, finally calling one of his Korean hosts racist. Do you know what he was told: "relax, you're being oversensitive". It dawned on him at that moment that all the jokes he cracked about Mexicans in his native state of Texas weren't as funny as he thought.
I'm not sure why I'm bothering to type all this out, because based on your past attitude, it won't sink in and all this will be dismissed. But in the slim chance it will, I want you to understand that lense from which I view you: that your insensitivity and racism is based from limited experience and lack of exposure. People who are truly people of the world, don't speak and act like you do. You're ignorant and you're so deep in the well of ignorance that it clouds your perspective and actions. When people realize this, they can either change or sink further into the well. It's up to you, but as you are, I don't want to know you. Ever. -
Slot it for health. The base recovery (75%) with just 1 target is pretty good. The base regen with just 1 target isn't.
I would either slot it with Accurate Healing sets (the +end proc in Theft of Essence is interesting) or 1 Acc, 5 x Doctored Wounds. You want good accuracy, recharge, healing and end reduction in that relative order. -
Tried The Thief! two more times:
DM/Regen Scrapper had no problem with +2/x2/bosses. The bosses made things scary a couple of times but the scrapper didn't die and I forgot to free Aisy for the final boss. A couple of luck inspirations and the end boss went down easy enough. Soul drain against all those pets and the ambushes kind of tipped the scales.
The MM actually had more problems, but played at +1/x4/bosses. At greater numbers the debuffs from the guns and the Shivans really start to add up, and my MM robots took quite a beating. I wasn't paying attention but the MM died to a series of unlucky hits right at the end boss. I rezzed her up using a Mayhem temp, resummoned the pets and continued and won. Probably should've used some inspirations (which until that point, I didn't).
Aisy btw made it alive through the end on both missions.
Even though I had two successes, I see your point. At larger numbers, even at lower difficulty, those mobs are mean. It was actually easier with a higher level and less numbers. -
Quote:Non suppressed defense is helpful in situations where an AoE is aimed at a teammate but you're still in the area of effect. Solo, yeah, it doesn't have any purpose. But yes, the defense *does* suppress when you attack.I thought the perception part of stealth supresses in combat. If you're not in combat, what good is the defense. You have defense for what you're not hit with? Or only the first strike?
I'll have to check my combat attributes and get in trouble. It doesn't make sense that the def would be gone once in combat. -
I've long since given up in telling Fire Kin Master anything. He's the second coming of UniqueDragon. I was remiss in not recognizing this brand of genius earlier and I will endeavor to make up for it.

Quote:It needs to be bigger Flea. A LOL that small just doesn't do justice to the comedy on a stick known as Fire Kin Master.
