Posty,
Bad analogy. Canadian dollars has actually become much more desirable lately. Current exchange rates I think are very close to 1:1. In some cases, the CAD is worth more than US dollars.
As to your point about red versus blue influence, yeah, the price of infamy has definitely degraded somewhat after the MM exploit and is still probably recovering. -
They are under no obligation to tell us the prices for which things have been sold/bought. Would it be nice to know? Sure, but I don't expect that they would necessarily tell us.
What things go truly go for is really based on how much a buyer may want something, how impatient the seller is in getting rid of her inventory and how much actual inf is on hand. Some people will demand outrageous prices, while others may be much more modest in their offerings.
I will tell you that I sold a Gladiator 3% PvP IO on Virtue about a week or so ago off market. I sold it to an in-game friend for 2.5B, which is well below what I'm certain I could sell it for. I also know of a player on Virtue who still may have two of these on hand; however, I don't think you'll even get in the door without bringing *at least* 4B. -
Seems like Virtue PI and AE are also affected. Could get into Steel and Crotoa without problems. Anyways, looks like this dashes any hopes of playing the characters I want before work. Oh well.
-
Anyone else having problems accessing Grandville? I have a character that is logged in there that I can't seem to access. All other characters, in other zones, seem okay.

Revised your build.
My revision sports a little less recharge 60% instead of 62.5%, but has better recovery (though higher end/sec consumption) and much better regen. However the biggest advantage of my revision is that I got rid of the mule set in boxing and you have functional slotted char and fire blast.

Dual as in two, not duel as in fighting an opponent.
You're citing Aristophanes in your sig so I'm assuming that language has some importance to you. -
-
It's actually not hard to soft cap without using any BotZ, even for shields. However, it is hard to soft cap *and* have good values for recharge, regen and recovery. In those types of builds, the BotZ nerf will definitely reduce the character's effectiveness, usually in multiple areas.
Still, post BotZ nerf, my fire/shield/blaze will still sport 90% +recharge, good recovery and good regen. She will not however have as good DDR as she before, and overall values for recovery/regen/recharge are lower than they were before.
Bottom line: shield characters are still very powerful, and the BotZ nerf will reduce their effectiveness a little. -
No, but it doesn't hurt. But unless you want to solo AVs without inspirations, you can get by with good regen and no medicine pool. I don't have aid self on my fire/shield, and if I get hurt bad, one small green is enough to cover it.
-
I have an electric/shield/mu brute and a fire/shield/blaze scrapper, both nicely IO'ed.
Electric/Shield is faster at taking down minions/Lts faster. The scrapper version would be even better.
Fire/Shield/Blaze is only slightly slower owing the smaller radius of FSC.
For purple farming though, I think Electric/Shield wins because it can simply mow down minions/Lts by just alternating nukes. For PL'ing where you have more than just yourself, the slight edge goes to Fire/Shield because of its ability to take down bosses.
Both are competitive as farmers. -
To slot more end redx in toggles, I'd look to slot some of the triples (def/end redx/rech, res/end redx/rech) instead of the straight defense and resistance pieces. You're way over the ED cap in both cloaking device and temp invulnerability so you can swap those out and still be well slotted.
You could also slot cytos/enzymes/ribos in your toggles or pull slots from PFF. 1 Def/+Rech LoTG is probably more than what you need for PFF for the vast majority of encounters.
As for my advice for skipping leadership...in light of your goal of slotting recharge, it's probably better for your build to just go with what you have. With my suggestion, you'd lose the slot for the last LoTG, although 121% recharge may be overkill. -
Pretty expensive build. I'm assuming you have all the pieces already and are just soliciting feedback.
One thing that I've noticed is that running all your toggles, you have 1.44 end/sec endurance consumption (1.2 if you're turning off tactics). That's a tad on the high side IMO, and you could do well with slotting in more end redx in cloaking device, temp invulnerability, etc.
I'd also dump tactics. Does nothing for you (you already have tohit buffs up the gazoo with aim and targeting drone) except as a mule to hold a 5% recharge bonus. If you want to get that bonus, consider taking trip mine and 5 slotting with Obliteration. It amounts to the same thing, and you'll have something more useful in the rare times you want to use it.
Other than that, looks pretty solid as a recharge oriented build. -
Quote:There are a small number of them that have been actually been selling on the market. A long time bid that I put in actually came through two days ago. I was going to promptly resell it, but sold it at very modest profit to a friend who wanted it. And when I mean modest, I mean I sold it at a price way below what I know could have gotten.I am pretty hardcore about my builds; 5 LotG recharge, multiple BotZ, Miracle + PerfShift + Numina uniques... but I can't even imagine how I'd even begin to go about acquiring a Gladiator's. Do you grind PvP for them or do you really make that much Influence?
I've just been using the recipe as influence storage. Since the free transfers have been canceled I suspect you'll see a few more of these come through this way. Otherwise, it's sadly all about who you know. I know of one player on Virtue who may have two of these unslotted, but she'll demand a very high price to part with them. -
*shrugs*
If this is the intended balance for shields then I think shield users should generally rejoice that we got nerfed so little. SR characters can easily be soft capped without using a single BoTZ set.
Sure adjustments to builds need to be made so a lot of defensive builds may be sporting less recharge, less regen, less recovery, but it still leaves them plenty formidable. Just FYI, my fully IO'ed (purpled, PvP IO'ed) fire/shield will probably come out of this with about 5% less recharge, a little less regen, a little less hitpoints and a little less recovery. However she'll be gaining a bit more smash/lethal resistance to make up for it due to slotting of a couple of Aegis to make up lost AoE. -
No one is ever happy with a nerf, but I can understand the reasoning behind this change. Thanks Castle for volunteering to be the messenger on this one.
-
As others mentioned, 1 Billion is a lot if you don't go for a top end IO build. I know of several friends and players who are completely uninterested in IO'ing their characters with the best of everything and they have way more influence than they can possibly spend. They would never spend 1 Billion since they do fine with just SOs or generics.

Quote:Kat/Regen or Kat/WP. If you don't have a preference, they both play pretty well right out of the box with little investment. Of the two, Kat/WP is probably the easier one to play, but Kat/Regen has no end worries by level 4 when it can get Quick Recovery. Katana is a solid primary with good damage, excellent mitigation and some nice style.so im looking on what would be the most fun scrapper for my new toon since ive never played one before what is your choice for the most fun. I dont want somthing that is to weak or end hungry that its lame to try with out all the purples in the world then i dont one thats the best possible bulid i want somthing fun that does its job and gets it done right thanks
-
As I said in the Market forum, excellent idea!
-
Excellent idea! As the others mentioned, price should be steep, but regardless of price, I'm pretty sure I'd take advantage of it.
-
I've emptied out my bins because I've been getting a min of 100% more profit. Even the -kb IOs that I usually sell off for 7M have been fetching 25M. I'm close to empty too and I can see the demand still being there.
-
Quote:I've been told that it's actually because of the MM exploit that was recently closed. 25M per run, and level 50 in a couple of hours is what I've been told.I'd guess you're seeing the "equip" phase from the recent 2XP weekend
as players are buying new and improved shinies for their newly levelled toons.
I'd further guess we have another week or so of that until things start to settle
back into "normal" (whatever that is) again.
A good time to sell, indeed.
Regards,

I haven't been online recently hence can't verify this; never tried the exploit. However, I can see the demand easily enough. -
I've been playing this game for years and never noticed it. The costumes were generally ugly so I never bothered to look at them closely. Kudos for bringing to light something I've never really "seen" before.
-
Quote:Suggesting wholesale changes of a sophisticated system like the CoH market and basing it off casual observation is a poor way of justifying your changes.Having recently done an informal study of the condition of the Consignment House/Black Market...
Reading further, you don't understand how recipes/salvage drop (though the information is available with some searching) and yet you presume to make suggestions on how they should work?
Please come back when you have a little more thought/research into your suggestion. It comes off as a borderline whine from a player who isn't getting what he wants so assumes that things are broken. -
It's fire/shield *if* you define best in being able to to do well in any aspect of the game (sans PvP). It can solo AVs/Rikti pylons, it can farm and does beautifully in TFs.
This isn't saying that other scrapper variants aren't better in certain aspects. DM/Shield remains the king in AV soloing, it's just not as good in the AoE and farming department. Elec/Shield is arguably better at farming, but it has poor-below average single target dps. BS/Shield is good overall toon, but there are others that surpass it in just about every area, including single target dps.
One note however is that for it to reach its potential, fire/shield needs a sizeable investment in IOs. Prior to that, it's a solid combination but not an outstanding combination. -
Markets seem to be very flush with capital at the moment, and my crafted IOs are flying off the shelf. Seems like the freshly minted 50s are in a buying mood, and I guess I can be persuaded to play supplier.
My key market indicators point to very high prices.
Luck of the Gambler +Rech, level 50 crafted IO - hovering around 200M, typically closer to 125M
Regen Tissue +Regeneration, level 30 crafted IO - hovering around 160M, typically closer to 100M
Miracle +Recovery, level 40 crafted IO - hovering around 200M, typically closer to 120-140M.
My niches are also selling for around 50% higher than average prices. It's a good day to sell.
