Quote:Regardless of what they said during the marketing, what was there at release is what was there. You can't claim "it was going to be in the release, but it's not" should count the same as "it's in the release".Before they 'removed' (delayed actually) it, it was included, for close to a year of pre-purchases (As in you give them the full money of going rogue) it was included. They said it at pax, War witch said it at the aniversry and when it was 'delayed' due to feed back Positron appologised.
I'm asking that if you buy something that includes a feature, but that feature has to be delayed at the point of release, do you conlude that said feature wasn't actually included in the first place?
And in this specific case what was going to be there was simply rolled back into the free issue that contained the meat of the system. -
Quote:Your specific reason for the purchase isn't a factor. Access to Incarnate content is dependent on owning GR, but it was *not* a part of GR.Well, I think the point is more that Aneko is unaware that very recently, we had to buy GR in order to access the Alpha Slot. This was not during any sort of beta, this was on the live servers... The driving force behind me buying GR was so that I could work on getting alpha abilities for my first level 50 character.

Quote:wha? I don't follow your meaning here. I know all of these words, but the order isn't making any sense. No sarcasm intended. I literally don't know what you're asking.Soit's aprantly okay for them to delay something they've already sold you from the sale, and you to not have actually purchased it when they return it?
edit...i get the first part, pre-comma. Yes. It's software development. You buy it, knowing that it's pre-beta, it's quite possible that it may change, or have some feature delayed. -

Quote:So I've got a question only partially related to this, are premium accounts active or is still only VIP access only?
I know, seems silly but the OP's thread seems to indicate premium players can play the game yet when my brother tries to log on it steers him right to his account and asks if he wants to upgrade to a VIP account with no other option.
They're phasing in inactive accounts over time until the official launch -
Quote:Apples and oranges, I'd say. This game has proven to have a fairly loyal subscriber base through the years, and the stated intent of Freedom is to grow that, (as sub fees are a far more stable and reliable income source...shareholders like that) not simply grab money from a high turnover of premiums.Actually, the Hybrid model they are using here is pretty unique. Traditionally, you are capable of buying everythign the game has to offer with a lump sum cash spend up which is not the case in CoH.
In the other models, it is those "Free" players who generate the most income, the short time players who spend hundreds of dollars and only play for a couple of months.
Subscribers are their bread and butter but Freebies are their Ferraris and Holiday Homes. -
Quote:Incarnate access is the one thing that you can *only* get by subscribing. Ergo, if one could get that without subscribing, and a'la carte the other things one needs/wants, it could well come out cheaper than subscription (depends on rewards level and what one needs/wants). Why would anyone *not* drop their sub if that were the case?...seems pretty logical to me..spending less > spending more.Is your position actually that Premium players who PAID, please note that word *PAID* for GR and recieved Incarnate access like we did in the good old days [when you paid for GR = Incarnate access] - that those who PAID would all cancel their subs en masse as a result, and this would cause the game to fail?
Are you serious? Because that looks like a pretty wide leap of logic to me. But ok.
I guess.
I'm tier 9....fairly certain it'd be less than 15 a month for me if incarnates were free -
I should have put ammunition in " ". Any rational person knows that bug reports get looked at. Not only have we been told this many times over the years, the fact that bugs *do* get fixed is evidence enough.
There's (as I'm sure we all know or should at least suspect) a lot that goes into debugging the game, and so there's a lot of different reasons why a bug (even a serious one) may continue to exist. Sure, a known bugs list would be nice....but what moo suggests goes too far, imo. Knowing the priority the devs have assigned to a bug without being privy to the reasoning and the decision-making process behind that decision would just spawn unnecessary forum drama at worst, or a lot of ctrl-v's of the Standard Code Rant at best....probably both.
So bottom line, known bugs list...I can get behind that. Anything more than that is not our business. -
Quote:Us looking over their shoulders at a priority list will change any of that how? They're not going to change their procedures...bug X has priority 3-Bravo now, it'd still have that priority if this happened and we can see their redacted priority list. It's a placebo at best.So that missing section of floor in one of the sewers entrance rooms that I have sporadically reported for the past seven years is something they haven't gotten around to yet and I should wait longer? I know people who weren't ALIVE when I first submitted that bug.
There's a reason people feel that their bug reports are sent straight into a black hole - because no acknowledgement is ever given that these bugs have even been read. City of Heroes has never had a comprehensive "known bugs" section outside of directly after large publishes, so people can't even tell what's considered a bug and what isn't.
And, really, us not knowing what priority a bug has been given internally doesn't really prevent us from inferring what priority that might be based on how long it's been since we reported it with no confirmation or fix in sight. To this day, I still have a Blaster who can completely and utterly bypass all power rooting, I've reported this multiple times and nothing has ever happened with it. -
I don't see how that would relieve any frustrations, unless one's pet issue was assigned a high priority. All it would do for everything else is provide people with ammunition (without the broader context of why it was given the priority is was) for their entitlement-driven rant posts.
You hit "submit" on a bug report, and voila....the devs have officially heard about your bug. It will get fixed when they deem necessary, or when they figure out what caused it, or have the resources needed to fix it etc etc...they don't need us looking over their shoulder any more than we already do.
If i were a dev, I wouldn't work someplace with such a system in place. -
The Shivans composition is determined by the available material from where they are formed, iirc. The Bloody Bay ones originated in a cemetery...hence the bits of bodies. The Galaxy City ones are composed of the stuff that one would expect to find in an urban environment, concrete, rebar, etc...

Quote:No...DDO had dice rolls...it tried to emulate the PnP ruleset as closely as possible.Neat article and I would tend to agree with him in some ways.
I'd like to see a MMO that had some sort of FPS fight system for battles instead of 'dice rolls'.
I want to say the Dungeon & Dragons game had something like that...but can't remember if that was true or not.
Sure people who aren't twitchy or good with FPS' wouldn't like it but...then again there are people who hate other MMOs...so *shrugs*
I really liked Hellgate: London to be honest with you (and so did my best friend). It was kind of like a FPS mixed with a MMO....too bad there were way too many bugs and...well yeah....I guess everyone knows the story. -
Quote:Standard Code Rant applies here, me thinks.Yeah, little things weren't filtered out like, you know, EVERY emote, EVERY costume change emote, EVERY aura, EVERY weapon, and Supertailor access and so on, that were all bundled in costume packs before.
Seriously, someone couldn't write up a script that says "If x costume pack code exists on account z, y feature is not purchaseable in the paragon market?" Isn't that what was done with the "main" costume pieces?
We've ALREADY bought it for real money, after all.
Just sloppy. -
Quote:A more general question about this guy, for someone with more technical superhero knowledge than me- is there a limit to Shaw's energy-absorbing abilities, or can he absorb a theoretically infinite amount? If there is some limit, 13 kilotons of force might surpass it. Does he have to "brace himself" before absorbing a lot of energy? In a related issue, can he turn his ability "on and off," or does he always absorb energy, whether he likes it or not? And if he's always absorbing it, how does he do everyday things that require a character to act and be acted on by simple, Newtonian physics, like walking? I've always found Shaw's powers interesting, ever since I first read about them in the '80's, but the more I think about them, the more confusing they get.
I don't know that they've ever gotten into the nuts and bolts of his ability. It's an always on thing, afaik. He can walk, so apparently not 100% of the energy is absorbed and converted into augmenting his physical abilities.
here's his wiki
Shaw is a mutant with the unique ability to absorb energy and use it to augment his strength, speed, stamina and recuperation capabilities to superhuman levels. He absorbs the energy of any blow he is struck by, including not only physical strikes, but also bullets (both are forms of mostly kinetic energy), and less successfully, concussive energy beams; notably Cyclops' optic blasts. By absorbing enough blows from an opponent, Shaw can surpass the strength level of said opponent and then overpower them. Whether it is possible for him to reach Hulk-level strength is unknown, but he has, in the past, been known to overpower Colossus who is close to 100 ton strength level. He is sometimes shown to be capable of absorbing the cutting, piercing and thrusting energy from a blade which makes it exceedingly difficult to cut or stab him with sharp edged weapons. While Shaw is highly resistant to injury, especially kinetic ones, even he can be damaged by powerful enough blows.
Without any absorbed energy, Shaw is merely a strong ordinary human in excellent physical condition, but regularly works to keep his strength at a superhuman level. In one instance, he was shown to spend time hitting a wall after waking in order to build up his power reserves before starting the day. It is not known how long these power levels can be maintained without absorbing more energy. If Shaw is captured and bound so he could not move at all, he could certainly be detained.
Shaw also can forgo sleep if he receives enough energy. Often he will have his mercenaries pummel him so that he need not sleep for some time. As a way of aiding himself in combat, Shaw is adept at taunting, and will not let enemies realize his power until they have hit him one too many times. Members of the X-Men have learned the best way to defeat him is to remove him from the field of battle. The most dramatic example of which was when Rogue threw him hundreds of feet directly up into the air and away from the fight, essentially temporarily defeating him. It is not known if other human limits apply to Shaw, such as, among other things, whether he can be hurt or killed from drowning or from a lack of air.
Shaw is, however, vulnerable to being incapacitated, or being attacked psionically. During the "Dark Phoenix" story arc where the X-Men first encountered Shaw and the Hellfire Club, after realizing that direct physical battle was not working, Storm dramatically lowered the temperature of the room to sub-arctic conditions, temporarily causing Shaw to flee and recuperate. While it did not take Shaw out of the battle for long, it was just enough to turn the tide of their battle. Shaw has also been overloaded by being struck by lightning and by falling a great distance when his mass was increased. -
Quote:According to 616 cannon Wolverine was for a time unkillable. Every time he died, as long as there was a single cell left Wolvrine would fight "death" and if he won he would fully regen where as currently can't do this for some reason and thus is killable.
Yeah, that was a concept from the 90's. -
Quote:I don't know where Wolvie's power level is now, but just before he became Marvel's go-to bad-*** in the end of the 80's, he got skeletonized by a blast from a Sentinel in Days of Future Present. Granted it was a an alternate future, older (but what's a couple of decades to him?) version of Wolvie, and like I said, just before his mainstream break-out in popularity, but he *was* dead, and I'm sure Sentinel's aren't packing the beam weapon equivalent of tac-nukes.Indiana Jones can as long as theirs a metal refridgerator nearby!
Now you're thinking "Well then any hero could survive one" at which point I would say "Not true. Only Indy and Batman would likely think of it!"
Kitty Pryde got stuck in the center of the earth, I see no reason she couldn't survive a nuclear blast if she went intangible.
And of course all the Regenerators. I have no doubt Wolverine/Deadpool/Sabertooth/X-23 would survive it.
Deadpool can't die, period, even if he didn't have regen powers. Thanos is jealous of his relationship with Death, and made him immortal so that Wade and Death could never be together again.... Wow...seeing that written out suddenly it seems *really* weird...I'd always just accepted it before. heh. -
Quote:Personally, I think it's high time that someone try to put together a well-done MMO in the Cyberpunk genre, but not holding my breath on that.
It's beyond past time for that. Anyone know the status on the Shadowrun property? (Though I'd probably prefer Talsorian Games' Cyberpunk...just figure Shadowrun has more name-recognition) -
Quote:Way too reasonable!I thought all of the Surviving Eight that weren't Phalanx members got invited to the Phalanx after the Rikti War. I don't know why I thought that.
Personally, I think BAB should be a member of the Phalanx. It's not much of a retcon if everyone thought he was anyway, and if you don't want to retcon it, have him officially invited after the events of Issue 21 and the destruction of Galaxy City, which force him to come out of retirement. -
Quote:But even if that was case, I don't think it's something the devs should take into consideration at all, when it comes to colors of effects.
If they did, we'd have very limited use of color.
I'd say they should...not for *our* effects, but for NPC stuff like this, yeah, maybe avoid using red/green on gauzy ground effects. And in this case, there's no need to match that attack to AM's others, since it's not coming from him, but his orbital base. -
Inherent nothing. The man is wearing sealed power armor. A public address system (microphone inside, hooked to amplified speakers outside) would be the only way to hear him speak at all...cranking up the volume past conversational levels should be a fairly easy task, even for him, to accomplish, i would think. -
I thought it was more of a pre-quel, than a remake, but I lost track of the original series after the second or so...was there one where they showed how the apes took over, like this one does?

Looks like a wedge heel, to me, if anything...

Quote:That's something that I always thought was kinda funny about Cap...to fight the Nazi's, the U.S. basically creates Hitler's wet dreamSaw it again today, still good. Also heard for the first time an interesting and accurate comment as the senator and his entourage stood up after Steve was taken out of the vita ray capsule "They created an aryan".
Stan Lee in the crowd as a General.......hmm General Lee...
