Quote:Is there any game you can actually use a shield with a 2-handed weapon? Even a legacy fantasy JRPG? I can't recall any...
My character in Skyrim can't btw
Can't even use magic and dual-wield there. I never bothered with the 2-handers there, so I dunno about using them with magic...probably not, though. -
Weird...thought this was a necro-thread... Not like there isn't a well visited thread for all this stuff...carry on.

Quote:which is why i loved 24. No stopping once it's season started, no matter what, a new episode every week until the finale.I really hate the mid-season break nonsense that's taken off in the last few years.
First show I recall doing this was Heroes, now it seems every single show I want to watch... only shows 5 episodes a year...
Psych
Eureka
Walking Dead
All take months off in the middle of a season. So lame.
I've all but given up on TV for this reason, and a myriad of others. In fact, last night I went ahead and deleted Psych and Eureka from my season pass just because it's to frustrating having an entire season dumped onto my Tivo everytime they come back, since they have to remind us whats been going on...
Looks like, from here on out, I'll be enjoying my shows 1 full season at a time.

Quote:I'd agree with that were she an adult. Lost little girl = people care. Check the news media anytime a little girl goes missing....especially cute little white girls.Perhaps I'm not expressing myself in a manner to properly convey my line of thinking so I'll just lay it out like this:
Sophia talking = Sophia's personality taking shape = Characters forming relationship with Sophia = Audience forming relationship with Sophia = Audience caring about her fate
It seems like the writers just glossed over nearly all of it and took the last part for granted. They didn't even bother to swap out her dialogue for any meaningful moments with her. It's lazy writing. -
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how you can call them not explicitly stating why Sophia's not chatty as lazy storytelling. I still can't conceive of any scenario where it *could* be explained, and not come off worse than just ignoring it.
If one of the character's asked her directly, she'd most likely just shrug. If one of them asked her mother about it, she'd also likely just shrug, and maybe add "oh...she's just a quiet girl". She's certainly not going to say "Oh...well, her father beats us, so she's withdrawn". Or after the father reverts to type, are you wanting one of the group to turn to the others and say "I bet he's the reason she's so quiet"? At that point it's obvious to anyone that's watched "a very special episode" of a sit-com...explaining it outright then is almost insulting. -
"The devil's droppin people off in the ER!" that was funny.
-
I really don't see how not specifically telling us why she's quiet is any kind of a failure. I honestly cant see a situation where it would have been appropriate for anyone to bring the subject up to her or her mother before her father's P.O.S. nature is revealed, and afterward it would have been obvious to any of the characters that would have really cared.
-
...And she was the child of an abuser. Kids in that situation tend to be more withdrawn/quiet than kids from more healthy homes

Maggie points out to him why kicking them out is a big deal. He's under-informed about the outside world...she's been out and about;everything nearby is toast.

And it may have been dumb for Shane to break the barn open, forcing a confrontation that way completely follows, given the way they've established the character. He's pragmatic yes, but he's also a hot-head who's been having a really really bad day.

Quote:Really? Andrea firing when everyone told her not to, she couldn't she the target clearly, and had her buddies within a couple yards or so within the target when she's had no long distance shooting training? Glenn being lowered down a well to lasso a zombie when they aren't going to drink any of the water out of it anyway? Really?
Umm...Lothic is talking about the barn scene in the comic and the barn scene in the show and the differences between them. What Andrea and Glenn did days earlier have no bearing on the differences in the respective barn scenes. -
Quote:It was totally in keeping with Shane's character for him for handle the situation the way he did. And seeing as the episode ended before the smoke had even cleared from Rick's pistol, I'd say it's a bit premature to say there were no consequences. Her coming out last seemed all the more forced since we've seen the inside of the barn several times already. Glenn's actually been in there and apparently Shane and undoubtedly several others hovered around and peeked in the barn since they found out about it. If they wanted to go that route, I think it would've been a better decision to keep the barn zombies unseen until that scene.
It was still an unnecessary risk, and it didn't even come with consequences, which takes some of the edge away from the zombies and the world they live in now. -
Quote:I didn't really find it to be powerful so much as forced. That zombie Sophia would wait until all of the other zombies came out first made everything the writers were trying to do too obvious, which didn't help on top of the lingering stupidity of Shane ranting about how dangerous all the zombies in the barn are and then busting the place open right in front of everyone.
Her being last out is to be expected. She's the smallest one, not likely to be able to push her way to the front when Shane's stars making all that noise opening the door. The pause before her showing up is obvious dramatic effect, though.
The only way the barn zombies are dangerous is if they mange to escape when no one's watching. Breaking the barn open in front of all those armed people is probably the 2nd safest way to deal with them, but the *best* way of dealing with them while making his point to Hershel. Them limping out in broad daylight from only one possible direction, like Black Friday shoppers at Wal-Mart in front of a literal firing line....they posed as much threat as fish in a barrel. -
Sad indeed. Maybe now Philly can do the right thing and honor an actual boxing legend, instead of the fake one they have a statute of now. Stupid Philly.
-
They're still not getting a dime from me till the rights go back to Marvel. I'll wait till cable...that's not a contradiction; my cable is free cuz I work for the cable company.

Funny thing about these cats...they sure eat a lot of fruit for those pointy canines they have

Didn't watch it yet, but the fact that the OP mentions camera-tech is enough to sell it for me. 3D done with a stereo camera (a'la Avatar) is a good thing. It's the post production, pop-up book style that's a waste of money. CGI movies are the exception to the PP 3D=bad rule...as they can add the second "camera" anytime, since it's virtual, anyway.
Cracked did an article on why 3D done the right way (stereo camera) is a good thing a while back...from what I remember it should be SFW, but I'm not gonna link it, just in case. It's just another tool in the storyteller's tool box. -

Not the most practical of his creations, but I want this guy on my team.
Look for his pump action repeating slingshot-gun. Rack it like a shotgun to load a ball and arm the rubber straps, squeeze trigger to fire...repeat. Pure awesomeness. -
Quote:I thought that was just him realizing that there *was* a baby there, and now that baby was most likely in the bellies of some walkers. I think that would bother anyone, without any need for knowing who the baby was.I thought that rather, it was how he truly felt because of what he saw in the car where he got the pack of smokes. Either he identified the car seat by the seat, the toy that was attached to it, and where it was attached, or it simply reminded him of someone (most likely his kid or a family member of sort). But then again, I may just be reading too much into how they shot that little scene. But it did seem to bother him quite a bit.

Said he wasn't going to do the new game, they convinced him, but I figured it'd be his last.
