Their Friday night block is pretty good. Starting at 7pm with Young Justice, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (which has been very solid thus far this season) and Generator Rex. I'd recommend it. Was wondering when they'd moved Symbiotic Titan to...also a good show.

I was gonna say that's not as creepy as it first seems, that an adult would smell different than a child, but then I realized that Lion-O is only *mentally* a child. The body is still that of an adult. So yeah...creepy.

Quote:I'm gonna call her the first black costumed villain. Granted, she did *look* super in that outfit, but it's hard to argue that there was anything else super about her or really any of the villains the Dynamic Duo faced in that showUmm...no real retconning involved and you've got the order wrong. On the television show she was originally played by Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in 13 episodes. Then when they made the movie after the end of the first season she was played by Lee Meriwether. Then when Julie Newmar was unavailable for more episodes because she was contracted to be in a movie they got Eartha Kitt who played Catwoman in 5 episodes. But Kitt's turn as Catwoman may still make her the first black supervillain.

Quote:Question was, however, who was the first black super *villian*I goto a weekly comic trivia at a local bar every week and we have had this question before.
The first black superhero is Black panther
the first African American superhero was Falcon
I looked it up online and that is what I found.
Now there is probably a chance that there where some before them two but they may not take into account some of the smaller companies. -
Quote:Oddly enough, that's one of the few things they got right as far as the comics go. The X-men's Blackbird....Ironically the only thing I really didn't like about the trailer was that it looked like the version of the SR-71 Blackbird they were using was hovering. I have absolutely no problem with comic book movies like this coming up with all sorts of sci-fi tech for things that can't actually exist in real life. But when they screw around with things that actually do exist and make them do things they can't do IRL that actually annoys me. Go figure.
I realize this movie will probably crap all over the X-men "canon" once again, but fortunately I was never a serious reader of the comics so there's hope that this will simply be an entertaining "prequel" for me. Time will tell of course.
from the wiki
When the X-Men were first introduced, they were portrayed as travelling in Professor Xavier's private jet and helicopter, advanced but fairly conventional aircraft with remote autopilots (i.e., the Professor flew them from home). When the series resumed in 1975, the X-Men were shown using a new strato-Jet that was visually based on a modified, scaled-up version of the Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" spy plane (hence the name), but was modified to carry several passengers, as well as for Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL). Some writers have referred to this design as the "SR-73" or the "SR-77", and is known to be canon in most plotlines of the Marvel Universe, including X-Men: Evolution, where it is referenced by Scott as the SR-77 in the first episode. The original X-Men Blackbird has been destroyed and rebuilt numerous times in the course of the team's many adventures. The later versions incorporated technology created by the mutant inventor Forge, as well as alien (Shi'ar) technology, including weapon systems, holographic active camouflage, and engines capable of hypersonic speeds. One version of the Blackbird possessed an experimental cockpit windshield that was infused with traces of the same ruby quartz material used in Cyclops' visor, allowing him to project and amplify his optic blasts through the windshield.[1]
In other words, the thing makes the real one look like a Hot Wheels model.
Well, sorta right. They wouldn't have had the Blackbird in the time this movie's set....but then again there's Havok, Cyclops' *younger* brother -
Quote:Was on the league that finished the BAF trial. It really is casual and just a matter of coordination, unlike the endgame raids I've seen in other games that require specific classes/builds and micromanging. So far the system seems to be oriented a lot more towards the casual team-lite crowd instead of the hardcore-min-maxed-team crowd. Admittedly the incarnate trials (I will not call them iTrials) might change that but even those seem to be more about coordination instead of having an uber build.
It's just fight some stuff, kill an AV on a timer, don't let 20 non attacking mobs escape for 5 minutes (this is currently the tricky part), kill another AV on a timer, then kill em both, roughly simultaneously.
All the objectives are clearly marked in a new "you cant miss it" window. -

Was on the league that dropped them today, a couple of hours ago. Didn't take any particular coordination really. There's an objective window with their health bars and a numerical percentage readout that's visible no mater what you have targeted.

They're still gods in normal Marvel continuity. Them being aliens is from the Ultimates universe. The movies continuity seems to be a mash up of the two.

Quote:I'm guessing it's because there's been a fair amount of speculation about ancient gods possibly being aliens going about in the real world. History channel has a series on the subject.Well, given that they mention that Dr Strange will tap into the supernatural part of the Marvel Movie Universe, why not have some of that now?
Seriously, I have always loved Norse mythology (and mythology in general) and I wish they wouldn't take this approach, which seems to render it much less... epic, IMO. -
Quote:Marvel hasn't made any ensemble cast movies. They've only made Iron Man 1 &2, Incredible Hulk, (all basically good) and Cap and Thor (looking good, but we shall see). All the other movies with Marvel characters were licensed out to other studios. Including this nonsensical mismash of characters. The only thing this has going for it is visual appeal and the trailer confirms that. You can tell they're pushing visual effects and sexy girls. The trailer is almost a full two minutes long and yet JFK has the most lines...
I think the acting and dialog is going to make this movie painful. And it's not just Fox, outside of X1, Marvel has a hard time with making good ensemble cast movies that are anything more than gimmicky action flicks. That's my biggest worry about Avengers...but that's another discussion lol.
My 2 cents at least... -
Quote:This particular Trial is capped at 24. No where near the numbers you get on a MS, and less than half of a Hami.I actually really dislike this because the game just doesn't work with it.
I'm sure we've all had the server lag problems with powers, movement, etc in Hami and MS raids.
Did one with a full 24, or nearly full...lag stutter etc was a non-issue. -
Yeah, it is. Type of government is not a factor in labeling developmental status. Type of government can certainly hinder developmental growth from 3rd world to 1st world status, but that's true regardless of type of government

Quote:This. Especially the last part.Ehhhh....
I mean, it LOOKS kinda cool, but it still doesn't inspire any excitement in me. I'm not a huge stickler on continuity, and a movie is ALWAYS going to have its own seperate continuity.
But it just seems like such a blatant case of plugging in characters for no reason that I can't view it as any more than a jumbled mess. I might see it eventually, but I'm not gonna be in any hurry.
Honestly, I'm kinda just waiting till the rights revert to Marvel and they can start over. -
And it's not like we didn't have "mega team" content already. They've just added QoL stuff to make starting and managing said mega team content easier, and some more content.
-
Quote:Thirdly, the new stuff, as Posi *just* said are NOT 48 man affairs...they cap out at 24. And really, just because they added something vaguely similar to what the Gorilla has doesn't mean that the devs are trying to emulate them, or that what we are getting is going to be remotely similar.Number One: Casual and solo/small-team are not synonymous. The trials are expected to be short, on the order of 30-60 minutes. That's casual but not solo. Farmers frequently trick their characters out so they can plow through +2/x8 content for money and drops. That's solo but not casual. Don't confuse the two.
Number Two: City of Heroes has always had bigger groups than WoW. WoW does 5 people max per group, City allows a whole 8 people. City's always dealt in bigger numbers. -
Ninja Run is an inherent.
Also, the mega-team up is a genre staple, and I'm glad we're getting more permanent ones (ie always there when *you* want to do it, as opposed to the random/triggered zone events) besides the Mothership and Hami. -
Good stuff. Really looking forward to this and the continuation of the Marvel Studios movies (and of course the reversion of their other characters back to them. *shakes fist angrily at Fox and Sony*)
