  1. I like my "spray bullets and plasma everywhere" AOE VEAT a lot.

I've never gotten anywhere with a Mastermind or a Controller or a Kheld. I just don't think they're for me.

Scrappers get abandoned these days, not enough damage compared to the Blasters I love.

So if it was me I'd run the Spider or the Blaster.

Standard disclaimer: this is only useful if you're me.
  2. Does the phrase "get rich quick scheme" imply fraud to everyone, or it is just me?

    Mmm. Footcake.

So I've managed to destroy over 50 billion inf between market fees and prestige donations. I'd like to thank the people who helped me out, knowingly or unknowingly:

The people who sold me Respec Recipes at 81 MM and the ones who bought them from me for 90MM.
The people who overpaid by 50 or 100 million for purple IO's.
The base builders, individually and collectively.
Slax, and the other crazy people who burnt 2 billion inf of their own money for Prestige.

And a special shout-out to Ferrum Ignis, for her ongoing project. May she dwarf my efforts.

I've finally got a chance to use this link.

    Edited because heff was right.

    The hum

I may have lost some hearing in the lower registers in my misspent youth, but that doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard.
  5. I'm showing up as That Damn Market Guy again. I could be wrong about the following.

On average, when I turn in an Alignment Merit for five recipes and sell (or craft and sell) the recipes, I make 100 million inf, maybe a little more. (I haven't been keeping close track. This is for characters in the mid-30s, not level 50's.) That's equivalent to 200,000 Prestige.

Two AM's take around four days. Figure another three days for everything valuable to sell, and you've got 400K prestige in a week.

This doesn't require a lot of market knowledge- I don't think it does, it's hard for me to say- because you're not selecting niches. You're rolling and selling whatever you get. You need to know that you CAN roll AM's, that crafted sells for more than raw, that you can turn Inf into Prestige, and probably some market info like "list for 75% of last 5, plus 908". You need, probably, around 20 million inf to kickstart the process (buying salvage, 5% down payment , whatever.)

Is one person running 22 tips and selling stuff for a week too much effort to get over this hump?
  6. For variety you can do stuff that gets you merits. It will take you longer to get 50 merits in Ouroboros than to do 11 tips, I'm sure, but it's got novelty value. (If Sister Psyche isn't bugged, that's about 1 h 30 for 50 merits.)

    Edit: that's 50 reward merits +20 million -> 1 AM.
Edit 2: it's possible that there are 5 missions at each "level band" with an overlap: 5 at 20-30, 5 at 25-35, 5 at 30-40, etc. If you were level 22, for instance, you might only have 5 choices.
  7. In normal, reasonable play I'd say you're ridiculously over the top on accuracy AND ToHit. You probably aren't doing normal, reasonable play, though...

The difference between 45% Defense and 41% Defense is this: you'll get hit about half as much by ranged attacks. I'd make the change.
  8. There seems to be only one morality mission per level range. Maybe one each hero/villain/rogue/vigilante . (Stylishly designed, though!) There are, I don't know, 10-15 tips each side, each level range? Almost all mine have been in the 30's because of Midlevel Crisis (or in the 40's, on other peoples' teams). I'm starting to do villain tips for variety.
  9. All I can tell you is they are a LOT less common than purples. Maybe as common as an individual purple recipe?
  10. What do you like doing in other games? Are you a guy who goes on point? Are you someone who sits in the back and quietly makes the team win? Do you want to make things go faster? Do you want to make things safer? Do you like risky playstyles?

    ... Are you a pyromaniac?

Firstly, even a team of veteran Navy SEALS would wipe at least three times per mission in Praetoria.
... and yet Viva Las Vegas is doing pretty well, all things considered. ("all things" meaning, mostly, "I took a Kin defender instead of a Force Fielder, because I felt I owed it to the team." )
  12. Guides? Well, here is how I went from 0 to 100 million on a new character. It's probably got a few too many conversational shortcuts- I've been doing this so long it's hard for me to put myself in the shoes of a new marketeer and explain in layman's terms. I did this with no test runs or practice or "gee, my other character will buy that to make me look good"- it would go faster and smoother the second time around, but new marketers haven't practiced yet, either.

I generally figure it's around the same amount of time to go 0-1 million, 1 million-10 million, 10 million-100 million and 100 million- 1 billion. Pretty much you're making X% per transaction, and when you have enough cash you can move up to bigger transactions. If you've only got a million, you're doing things like "Buying for 55K and selling for 150K." If you've got 10 million, you're doing thing like "Buying for 1.5 million and selling for 4 million." If you've got 100 million you're doing things like "buying for 20 million and selling for 50 million."

Point being, it's not harder "Where you are right now", it's just you're doing different transactions.

This might work better- heffroncm is an actual new-to-marketing player, so doesn't have the assumptions I do.

    Merits 911!

I misunderstood the goal. My bad.

hmm, 20 rolls, no inf vs. 40 rolls, investing 160 million... my estimate is you'll make about 200 million inf more on the "40 rolls" case. One extra Stealth or LoTG, though, could make all the difference in that.
  15. Jujutsu [spell how you like] would be interesting to see. If Air Superiority can knock down a giant robot, so could this...

As far as what Blasters bring to the table that other AT's do not? I took down 20 enemies in 10 seconds once with a Fire/Elec. That was when I decided that having Firebreath, Fireball, and Static Discharge didn't mean I could take Inferno out of my build.
  16. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one:
    Quote:
I think that we should have some real Epic godmode like archtypes. Not something so overpowered that it's unbalanced, but something that makes you feel more epic.
Godmode, but not overpowered or unbalanced. OK. Got it.
  17. Is your altoholism causing you to miss sleep ? Is it interfering with your work? Is the first thing you think when you get up, "I could roll a new character?"
  18. The problem you have with taking blasters past level 12 is probably that you've been catching a nasty case of incoming death.

My suggestion would be roll Fire/Elec. Minions die in 4 seconds (fireball/firebreath.) Then you jump in and slap upper management with your fists of sparky doom and jump out firing Blaze. If done right, you hardly ever catch the incoming death. (Fire/energy also works, but I like the graphics on /elec better. )

I'm assuming that some combination of Architect or Ouro Merit farming is the way to go?
    Heck of an assumption there.

I made quite a few of my billyuns on a L17 (now level 26- I did some actual play) rad/sonic .

Although since Going Rogue I've made probably over half a billion by cashing in Amerits.

If you get sick of tip missions you can do task forces or ouro or anything else that gets you 50 reward merits, spend 20 million and cash in.

Or hmm, you could make half a billion by buying, crafting, and reselling ten purple IO's. Bo-ring!
  20. Can you still edit the original post in a thread, or is there a time limit?
  21. The "(0 each)" message means that somehow the market server hasn't really gotten the message. It's out of "stored" on your machine but not theirs, or something. I haven't seen it stay that way for more than a couple of seconds, that I noticed. I may have seen it, pulled and relisted it, and not remembered, though.

    Merits 911!

400 merits gone to straight random rolls? Ow, dude. I would have stopped the moment I got the first Numina Unique- or more likely, the moment I got the first Obliteration.

Watching other people roll merits is, actually, fun for me. I may be a sad little man, but I look forward to seeing this thread progress.
  23. 1) Purples in Praetoria?!? HAXXX!

    2) Freaks were jokes for most level 30+ characters in I4-I8 as well.
  24. looks like fourspeed just listed another one, Seize.
  25. Dear OP:

    1) You can't IO out and get much benefit under level 20. They're not balancing for IO's, they're balancing for "have to be awake."
    2) The "joke" enemies usually get buffed. CoT got a couple slight buffs (Nerva Daemons?) a few years back, for instance. Freakshow have been a joke in the high levels since issue 1 [although I might have erred on the side of caution and introduced Super Stunners for level 35+]. And Devoured were the only group that got EASIER in the 40+ game; that seems like they were fixing an oversight to me.
